• Series one of Boss FIght's H.A.C.Ks incoming and figures have started to be sent out and go for ridiculous prices on Ebay. Backers get their orders in two shipments and pre-orders will ship after that's all done.

• G.I Joe Status: got a convention coming this year, the box set looks pretty solid if you want Sky Patrol and back pack gliders. F.S.S 4.0 is currently shipping, 4 figures of the 13 (13th being a mystery). Panic as no retail line in sight this year.

• Marauder Taskforce figures: New colors from last year's kickstarter in-stock. Valkyrie battle waifus aiming for around mid year, but hopefully before Christmas.

• Hiya Colonial Marines and Powerloader incoming sometime, maybe this month, maybe next month... git sum.

• Oritoy Acid Rain: has a new civilian mech variant releasing soon, after that civilians, females and enemy troopers with big shoes and battle robot types. They look good, but can you afford them?

is there a specific type of cloth that goes well with 1/18 ?

There was a guy that did clothes for I think microman bodies to custom some joe characters and they looked neat if a bit bulky but I guess it comes with it at such a small scale.

But for example, wouldn't be best to use silk or any other thin fabric to make it look less bulky?

I just got my gi joes back from my parents house and honestly I think I prefer the last of spy troop kind of mold, proto-modern era? that is, Major Barrage, the dreadnok flamethrower guy and Spy-tropps Gunghoe, I think that would have been perfect to continue:
-injection mold shoulders and elbows
-Head like 25th anniversary
-single hinged knee
-still o-ring construction

The newer arms are shit and bend like 100° angle.

sure the body and proportions look way better, like mini-statues but their pose ability suffers greatly.

My dream would have been a body like major barrage with swivel hinged wrists, rocker ankles and a lean body with out many details so you could put webgear on it.
>>
>>5559461
I agree. I think the only real advantages the newer bodies have is the wrists, ankles, and abdominal articulation.

I actually like the proportions and sculpt more on older gi joes. It usually looks ok if you think the figures are supposed to be wearing loose clothing.
>>
>>5558302
What kind of material did you use? I know you said cloth but anything specific? Did it just naturally come in that color or did you have to alter it?
>>
>>5559747
I just used cut up khaki pants. I did give them a wash in some grungy black paint water first, though.

Speaking of Acid Rain EntertainmentEarth.com has some sort of pre-order type thing going where both the Agurts Infantry and Sol Commander (plus a bunch of vehicles) are listed as " temporarily out of stock" and scheduled to return to stock soon. Might be worth it considering they wont charge your card until they ship anyway.

Agurts: http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=TNAR1450

I have the True Heroes AB-115 and it's a decent vehicle. Solid construction and easy to remove the wings and tail for storage. Cockpit is not very detailed. I wouldn't pay the full current price for it again; $40 seems better.

Yeah, no.

The new ones can actually look like they can aim their guns and properly shoot them.
Pre-25th are mostly all hip shooters like Rambo. Hell, most of them can't even brace the gun against their shoulder for something as simple as this.

Some of us here hate them, but we largely ignore them or are pretty selective about it.

I'm not a fan of the figures themselves and thought most of the vehicles were pretty dumb, with unnecessary transformations, but the Laurel is awesome and the upcoming armored soldiers look pretty good.

considering the lack of product and being so expensive for what they are, there's not a lot of fans for it in general. So of course their generals fell away unnoticed.

So is GI Joe dead now that there's no con and no plans for toys?
>>
>>5567553
Eh, maybe. Probably. Unfortunately.

Apparently they worry that parents will associate Cobra with ISIS and they don't want kids playing out stuff that's actually happening in the world.

What /should/ do, in my opinion. Is go more sci-fi with it to revitalize the brand. Either Cobra-La and really ramp up the genetic experiements / monsters. Or Destro's empire of evil robots and heavily armored guys a la Wolfenstein or Killzone.

At least I have Acid Rain stuff to look forward to.
>>
>>5567563
Nah, what they need to do turn all the Joes into blacks, Hispanics, Muslims and homosexuals, and make Duke a lesbian, and then all of Cobra should be nothing but white men, preferably with blond hair and blue eyes. Pitch that cartoon to the Satanic Khazarians who run the cartoon networks and it's guaranteed to be a hit and Joes will once again be relevant.
>>
>>5567580
nah just make GI Joe cartoon some lol random humor and Cartoon Network will air it. Look at Teen Titans Go.

>>5567553
The fan club isn't officially dead just yet.

That said, if the rumor currently going around is true, the franchise is going to be reduced to a platform for launching other properties as movies. Expect GI Joe 3 to probably revolve around MASK, Visionaries (in whatever form it comes back as), INO Rom, and the Micronauts with Snake Eyes and Roadblock in glorified cameo roles
>>
>>5567761
>the franchise is going to be reduced to a platform for launching other properties as movies
That's a retarded rumor.

Why would it be reduced to being just that when the GI Joe movies are actual hits?

From what Hasbro has said and how retailers are now, they're only waiting to make it a major toyline again with the next movie. Retailers aren't going to support the toyline unless there's some media to go with it, so without a doubt, Hasbro is only waiting for the third movie to start production to release another line. And it takes about a year for a toyline to be produced.

How cheap? I bought these vehicles just for the driver heads. If hasbro were to put out some cheap figs at the dollar store, I'd definitely buy some, but I think that's unlikely to happen.

Which is why it will probably be the same for Joe.

Especially if they are turning it into a movie only line.

You are salty as fuck for no reason.

>All action figures have slowly headed towards 5POA over the last couple of years.
>GI Joe is a special snowflake that won't.

Hasbro backed off of the first wave because of fan boy wailing and whining.

The movie being pushed back a year likely had more to do with the sales of the first wave of Retaliation being bad than the reduced articulation.

Momentum has been going towards reduced, cheaper to produce 5POA figures with minimal accessories. And the majority of other action figures available (especially Hasbro) have moved towards this: cheap minimal articulation and minimal accessorized figures backed up by a movie or cartoon.

Haven't been following this argument, but I just wanted to point out that the movie was pushed back so the studio could make it 3-D. Toy sales one way or the other (I recall hearing that the Retaliation toy sold well upon release, myself) had zero bearing on the film's delay.

I guess a nice standard to follow are these 10 POA soldiers from BBI. This 5-pack has been on Amazon flip-flopping between 30 to 20 dollars. That's $6~4 per soldier.

Their hips go back and forth only so they are only good as scenery pieces, but the price-value ratio is amazing compared to hasbro's 5poa stuff.

There are reports that people have been finding the single figures at Five Below. They're a gold mine for accessory fodder.

I just wish they would have rolled out the proper 1:18 vehicles when they did these. Only one of those that made it out was the Ranger enduro bike.

>Toy sales one way or the other (I recall hearing that the Retaliation toy sold well upon release, myself) had zero bearing on the film's delay.

I'm saying that the movie being pushed back a year had more to do with the toys selling badly, because they were released with no direct movie support and no advertising, than the toys having reduced articulation.

Not that the toys selling badly caused the movie to be delayed.

No real reason. It was a 2012-2013 deal, after that they never reordered anything from that line or requested another line. They just carried the stock until late 2014 and clearanced it all out. You may luck out and find a cc or storm shadow in a clearance bin.

Female IDF weapons instructor, Zombies, Pirates, Monster Hunters, 70's Mobster, Russian Spetsnaz etc.

Yeah.

Most of them had prototypes, some that even sold on eBay a few years ago.

There was already a Border Guards sniper Spetsnaz figure of course, and the regular Spets in Afghanistan, but they were going to do Alfa (and I think Vympel).

On some of the later packaging there's images of the prototypes for the IDF instructor, 70's Mobster, US Army SF with foreign weapons etc.

There used to be Pistol Pete's 21C checklist with a lot of the prototype photos but the site has been down for about a year now.

>when the GI Joe movies are actual hits?

Are they?

Well. I guessed since there was a second movie the first did good enough to get a sequel but it kind of feels like they weren't as successful as they were suposed to be perhaps?

My vision about the "success" of this movies may be is a bit different since I'm an eurofag and at least here the first movie at least we managed to see trailers of it but the second movie was...one of those movies you go to theater one day to watch something else and realize there is a poster that say "G.I Joe" and you think "they made a second one?"

So all this time I thought they as a franchise flopped. Was I wrong? Its a successful franchise there? Because here is like the toys, people remembers the name but doesn't really have any contact with it.
>>
>>5575791
>you go to theater one day to watch something else and realize there is a poster that say "G.I Joe" and you think "they made a second one?
South-American here, similar stuff happened to me, I knew about the movie thanks to internet but never saw a trailer or preview until that moment.
>Because here is like the toys, people remembers the name but doesn't really have any contact with it.
Same, the line is pretty much dead here, when I was a kid there was plenty of offer, even TRU doesn´t carry Joes, if you are lucky you can find some Star Wars, Avengers or Legends figures.
>>
>>5575791
>Are they?

Because of the way Hollywood accounting works, no one really knows the answer to this question.

>So all this time I thought they as a franchise flopped.

Well yeah, pretty much.

>Was I wrong? Its a successful franchise there?

Not really. Collectors (I am also a collector and have been since I got my first Joe figure) think that because they are willing to buy that means others are willing to buy too and the line should be doing great.

They seem to forget that many collectors:

1. Wait for figures to hit deep discount

2. Don't represent the demographic that Hasbro wants to target at mass retail

They also want desperately for GI Joe to succeed based entirely on their nostalgia for amazing toy sections in Walmart and dedicated toy stores like KB and Toys R Us that carried Joe in the 80's and 90's (and sort of early 2000's).

I don't want GI Joe to fail, but every iteration has started off strong and then sputtered out, unable to recreate the original 82-94 success.

There are multiple reasons for that which tie in to the previous points about collectors waiting for discounts and not being the target demo.

1. Collectors will talk a big game about how if the Whale or the Flagg were re released they would buy X amount of them, when reality just doesn't bear this out. Mostly because they wait for deep discount or second hand outlets or they buy none. Because Joe collectors are penny pinching cheapskates (I also limit my toy budget and try to get great deals, nothing inherently wrong with it) and aren't willing to pay the retail prices of new big box items and play sets.

2. They forget that they aren't the target demo for mass retail toys so they call for all of these collector items that they would want but wouldn't sell either because of the above or because parents won't buy those items for their children. And collectors bitch when Hasbro puts out stuff for kids (5POA garbage, which I bitch about, but I realize why it's happening).

Yes, you don't get a sequel unless you make your money back. It got a major push in the US.

>>5575858
>Because of the way Hollywood accounting works, no one really knows the answer to this question.
This is only true when fucking over the IP owner and actors out of any royalties/residuals. Everybody else gets paid back (sometimes double), including the studio and distrubtor before they go about paying off residuals.
So basically, it's mad profitable for everyone else.

>because they are willing to buy that means others are willing to buy too and the line should be doing great.
I agree with mosto f what you said, except for this.
As mentioned before, GI Joe had a big push in sales almost everywhere. Prominent displays and abundant space. The line exceeded Hasbro's expectations so much that they increased production for the line.
Of course, while Hasbro sold out of their stock, major retailers didn't and were feeling the burn from the year before of holding onto stock for something that didn't have media attached to it. So while other lines would have been kept to sell off the remaining stock, places like Target and WalMart just clearanced it off before later waves would be released.
>Joe collectors are penny pinching cheapskates
I think this is true for almost all collectors. Anything with big ticket items usually have people waiting for clearances: LEGO, Megabloks, MU, many movie lines, etc. Even Star Wars.
And this is only because of a learned behavior. We always notice that expensive stuff gets put on clearance and we hold off from buying them. Even collector stuff has people baulking, like the recently shown off trolls from 4H's Mythic Legion.
So i think the reason you don't see that with MLs and other large scale lines is just for the fact there's nothing big for them to hold off from buying.
>>
>>5576414

>As mentioned before, GI Joe had a big push in sales almost everywhere. Prominent displays and abundant space. The line exceeded Hasbro's expectations so much that they increased production for the line.

For the 25th Anniversary line definitely. But almost every line after 25A and ROC I had trouble finding regularly, with POC figures found only one time while I was in another state, and the later waves of Retaliation almost nonexistent in my area (and anecdotes from other collectors as well).

>I think this is true for almost all collectors.

Definitely. It's even true for myself. I always try to get the best deal I can on toys because I limit my toy budget, and I've been primarily buying "used" toys (Gundam stuff) or the occasional CODBlocks because Joe has been nearly non existent in my neck of the woods (Central Florida) for years now.

But I also don't yell all over JoeCustoms/YoJoe/HT forums about how I would totally throw down the cash for five brand new Whales, three Terrordromes, and two Flaggs if Hasbro would just produce them. Because reality doesn't bear that out.

I know it's true for plenty of other "fandoms", but it seems like Joe collectors are hypocritically miserly, clamoring for expensive big ticket items with claims of potential money being left on the table only to wait for those items to hit Ross or deep discount.

I guess what I'm getting at is that for GI Joe, the "fandom" is it's own worst enemy.
>>
>>5576488
>For the 25th Anniversary line definitely. But almost every line after 25A and ROC I had trouble finding regularly,
I was specifically talking about the 2nd movie toys and how retailers carried it.
I also had trouble finding PoC and 30th figures, but that's just how stores are shit. I hate how people in bumfuck states were able to buy billinos of zombies because their stores didn't overorder like my county's stores and got in regular shipments instead. Fuck em!
Still, practically ever store carried the line all the way through.

that's what I was thinking too, ramp up the sci-fi/fantasy aspects, also add in more of the corporate angle that Renegades introduced, also at this point as much as it hurts to say, Hasbro should really transfer G.I. >really it's surprising that Joe hasn't made the transition to Video Games sooner when it'd be perfect for the CoD and Battlefield crowd with a little tweaking

Maybe, the only problem I see is competing for market share. CoD really has the current arena shooter console market on lock down, while Battlefield/Battlefront has the combined arms FPS/milsim part of the market.

There aren't really any competitors that have been able to unseat them, and when MoH tried to make a come back it sputtered out.

And they won't do it on PC because the next week after release ModDB will be full of Scarlett and Lady J nude skin packs and tit inflation mods and Snake Eyes horse dick models.

It's a catch-22 though.

Hasbro repeatedly overprices shit and under produces it too. Which means shit gets scalped to hell and back and goes for obscene amounts of money, that most people simple wait it out (rather than pay the rape dollar price on the secondary market from the scalpers) on the thin hope that the toys will end up at discount outlets.

When your only choices is scalpers or the super-rare chance you can get the toy at Ross for cheap a year later? People pick the later.

Joe collectors will openly say that they saw something at retail, especially big ticket items like vehicles, and then say they'll just wait for clearance or Ross/TJ Maxx.

I know there's Microman Predator but from what I see, he's more 3.75" in size

There are those and then the Hot Toys Sap Kits:

That's pretty much it for vaguely Joe-compatible Predator figures.

Apparently Hiya is doing the Predator in 1:18, and wants to know which of the team they should do:

that's the worst review I've seen

Damn I need a facebook account and I'm too sophisticated for that.

I bet the three will be Dutch, Blain and Billy I wish they did everyone.

Are the aliens still available? where is the best place to buy them and the colonial marines?
>>
>>5580592
Looks like BBTS has just about everything still for preorder.
>>
>>5580563
>Dillon
>Dutch
>Blain Cooper

There is no other possible answer

Are you gay or something?

The only real answer is

>Dutch
>Mac
>Blain

you got your token black character plus get to recreate the broship of Mac and Blain. Dillon was a weasel ass.

Loved the Dollar Generals.
In some cases they were better IMO than the "main" figures.
>>
>>5573203
Wasn't the Dollar General line sort of slipped by the main production people anyway?
>>
>>5578140
Not in Canada.
the 50th line had shit distribution at TRU and they vanished into storage early.
I got a 3 pack for $9 about 3 months after release and they had to look around in the back for like 1/2 and hour. I later found some stuff at a "Toys Toy's Toys" store and a comic shop (Silver Snail) but they were overcharging.
>>
>>5580563
They also have a 1/18 power loader but it's pricey.
I got one alien at BBTS and 2 others at another online place (forget where) but the two figures (with shipping) cost as much as the BBTS one and it's shipping.
>>
>>5581167
>Canada
>shit distribution at TRU

At least you still have distribution, here in Spain Joes doesn't touch TRU shelves (or any other shelves in fact) since early 2000s

If you don't care about articulation, McFarlane did some AVP Predators.

Here's a custom by the guy that sculpted the Zombie Viper, he used parts from a McFarlane Predator and the body from a Thor Frost Giant. You might be able to use some revoltech type joints to add articulation to a plain figure.
>>
>>5581260

Sorry to hear it.
When the 50th came out I called the 3 TRU's within Transit for me and they all claimed the line was dead before they got them.
Then before getting the deal I mentioned above they denied that they had ever had them.
It was only one guy (I asked pretty much all the employees) who "sorta remembered" seeing them (there had been an entire row of full shelves the week before when I had been in) and he was the person who went to look. I wished I could have tipped him.
>>
>>5581308

I remember a few anons saying they would wait for items to go on clearance or to Ross/TJ Maxx.

I'm not too into vehicles because of lack of space, but if I do see it for cheap I'll pick it up especially if it comes with a cool driver. Most of the Joes I got at Ross/TJ Maxx were either because that was the only place I saw them(Wraith, Night Viper, black version of HISS), or were doubles or triples of figures.

The biggest issue for me was distribution, Walgreens was a big help in finding extra Vipers, Shock Troopers, and Techno Vipers.

Then what's the fucking point?

It's cool and all, but what's the point if they aren't going to do the whole team so you can have the entire team together?
>>
>>5581667
This would be the ideal thing in a world where money grew in trees.
>>
>>5581318
Uh. No. I just asked several employees if they had them and went to the next person after being told by each but the last that they didn't exist and the line was dead.

>What I heard was not at all that, but rather that Hasbro is trying to compile all of their properties into a shared "universe" property.

That's what I heard. GI Joe, MASK, Visionaries, Micronauts and ROM. GI Joe and MASK already mesh pretty well, but I don't know who though Visionaries + anything on that list was a remotely good idea.

I mean besides the brainless executives who saw the money Marvel is raking in.

I also like how Transformers is left out completely because that's already making money, even though Transformers vs GI Joe makes a ton of sense storywise -- Bay has even filled the Transformer film universe with pointless army people!

Is there a helmet that fits Resolute Duke's head? or an alternate head that fits well? I see he's too pale.

Does the desert battle PoC Duke head fit well in resolute Duke's body?

Lets get creative, if you had to design a new line composed only by NEW characters, which kind of characters would you offer?

And I'm asking for you to describe the specific characters, not general guidelines of the batch

Working on a 1/18 Pyramid head using the Marvel Universe Hercules buck. Anyone know a good source for thin fake leather?
>>
>>5583132
You can easily buy a 54' square of pleather on eBay for around $9 shipped. Since its for furniture it might be too thick though, your best bet is to to go to a place like Hobby Lobby and inquire into a possible material.

I bought a Dollar general trooper and I can conclude that the shock trooper arms are shit.

I'll try to look for the resolute cobra troopers as my default ones now and the plan on stocking up on the 30th ann troopers is cancelled. I can live with the current 7 soldier squad of pajama troopers from the 25th anniversary until I assemble this new squadron.

>>5584913
Want a squad of these so bad but they are using the shock trooper upper arms, does the new lower arm some how offsets that deficiency?, retardly expensive though.

Keep the city shots coming, I love your setup and plan on getting the spawn alley set too soon, is not that expensive.
>>
>>5584923
Same basically, just the smooth section gives it a little more room to position compared to the sculpted wrinkled shirt of the troopers, but negligible honestly.

You could always trim the upper arm and lower areas a touch to give it a little extra space. I did that with the dreadnoks, ult dukes and extra blowtorches.

I could try on a random trooper fodder to see if I can do anything. Will post results.

Just go slow and be careful. You can always take more off, but can't add more back. Practice on some shitty Joes first until you've really got the hang of it.

It's amazing what a second with an exacto can do. Add 20deg more elbow articulation, give Croc Master ankle tilt, etc.
