I wish i still have my g1 hardhead.
>>5549034
I prefer thee animation face but I don't like the brown on the Takara version at all, probably going to get both and swap the Takara face onto the Hasbro figure.
Skullcruncher however is a flawless victory for Takara. Holy fuck does he look good.
>>5549090
>Forgetting the new glorious green
>>5549090
He already said he likes the other face and it's not like we aren't getting the extra tank.
>>5549034
Faceplate head is superior though. He just looks odd with a mouth.
For someone who just got into MP's, what are the best MP's?
All I have currently is Hot Rod.
>>5549143
Go ahead and grab any Autobots starting from MP-10 Convoy. MP-13 Soundwave (and friends) is a must, but currently expensive, while the Starscream/Seeker mold is not up to current MP standard (but is okay if you want some Seekers).
>>5549034
Even when it comes to Brainstorm?
>>5549116
Can't Hasbro just do a Platinum boxset of Groove and Blast-off? It seems that bundles get a pass from the standardized pricing system.
Pic related
>>5549034
The face is definitely a plus if you liked the anime appearances more than the toy look, but then that goes into personal taste.
The extra weapon is cool, especially because the colors match the Deluxes, but it you can get a Hasbro Deluxe and a Titan Master single for roughly the same price, while also getting a bonus head.
HasTak are on even footing this round.
>>5549148
How's this Optimus? Is it MP-10 or ??? I don't know shit. http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK11952&mode=retail
Anything in particular to watch for in the MP stuff? Known issues/etc?
My Hot Rod unfortunatly had a bit of a paint chip on his chest, like the paint had a bit that wasn't smooth and it flecked off. It's barely noticeable, but I can see it if I look close, anyone know of a way/properly hued yellow paint to repair it?
>>5549151
I hope they don't do Platinum for those two. The "pass from the standardized pricing system" has meant that all of those releases are way overpriced.
If only Hasbro could bring those two figures over for an online exclusive Deluxe duo, to mirror the one they did at the beginning of Combiner Wars.
>>5549158
That is indeed MP-10. Specifically, it's the Hasbro release known only as "Masterpiece Optimus Prime". The MP-10 mold doesn't have any known widespread issues, but that specific iteration is different from the original MP-10 release in its brighter plastic colors.
Not really a problem unless you're super anal about colors.
I don't have any help to provide you for that paint problem though.

>He just looks odd with a mouth.
I dont know about that. Cause the toy was the only time he had a mouthplate. both the cartoon and the anime gave him a mouth. as well as the idw comics.
>>5549228
Just because one design is used more than the other doesn't change the fact that it looks odd to some people.
I have no attachment to either version, or character, but I do prefer mouth plates just because they display better in my opinion so I'm happy with the Hasbro one.
>>5549233
Yeah, I like mouth plates better as well. It's why I might get Hasbro's Computron if Scrounge looks good.
Mindwipe should have a mouth plate too.
>>5549240
why though? he never had one.
honestly though his face IS pretty stupid looking even in G1. so a face plate would be an improvment
>>5549243
Looks more sinister and his head just looks dumb in both versions.
>>5549249
Ooh, how about a mouthplate based on Movie Mindwipe on G1 Mindwipe? would be sweet
Honestly G1 Mindwipe's stupid. the first vampire transformer and they didnt make him cool
>>5549252
Yeah that would be neat. Maybe give him something with fangs on it too.
>>5549243
Keep in mind a lot of us didn't grow up with G1 or read much of the fiction, so we aren't bound to that sort of thinking that something should be fiction accurate.
At any rate, my biggest connection with Mindwipe is the 2010 toy, and I wouldn't mind if he had a head inspired by that, though I know more people want a G1 faithful version.
>>5549261
Maybe one of the little head and vehicle guys will have one like that. Seems the perfect place to add diversity to heads.
>>5549151
Fuck that since they'd be $10000 or some shit. Put em in a two pack or even single packed as a shared online exclusive. BBTS, Entertainment Earth, Amazon, hell even HTS. Pick your poison.
The missing Aerialbot and Stunticon didn't last quite long enough, so do another run of them too!
>>5549261
>though I know more people want a G1 faithful version.
I just want a fucking bat.
Vehicleformers bore me after a while. I mean it's cool if you're in to vehicles and all, but I feel beastformers give you more bang for your buck. You get a bot mode with an altmode that can do more than just roll on wheels or spin it's propellers.
>>5549202
Oh my god, can you imagine the butthurt that would have ensued had that been the end?
I kinda want the Club's final piece of fiction to literally retcon the G1 cartoon out of existence just to see how many jimmies it rustles. Not that I read or give a fuck about club fiction.

>>5549276
>>5549284
You can never rule it out. it's pretty common now for Jap exclusives to get released here. Like the Groove mold or RID Battle Grimlock
>>5549269
One thing that's bummed me out as a Beast Wars kid is Hasbro's apprehension to do more than a few beast formers a year, and never commit to a straight up beast theme for a whole line again.
Back when RiD 2001 came out, I thought Hasbro was going to adopt the Power Rangers method; alternate Beast and vehicle themes year to year. Then Armada came out, and again like RiD(except Megatron), all the beasts were just BW repaints. Energon showed some idea of a vehicle vs beast theme early on, but that was quickly discarded.
>>5549261
>Keep in mind a lot of us didn't grow up with G1
>a lot of us didn't grow up with G1
>didn't grow up with G1
>>5549300
I'm surprised they haven't done a full line again BUT considering we just got a themed line and now getting the headmasters themes there's really not much left to do unless they decide to do pretenders. Beast line would be smart especially with the anniversary, but takara seems to be the only one really caring about that sadly.
I just want more of the cast that they started with thrilling 30.
>>5549287
When haven't JP molds been released by Hasbro (besides late G1 and Beast Wars Neo). As far as I know, recently most have been sans a few such as Prime Breakdown and UW Blastoff (too early to tell).
>>5549304
I'd rather a mixed line than a fully committed one. A few beastformers, a few vehicles, everyones happy, everyone gets something.
I know I wouldn't touch 90% of beast figures because they aren't what I want (G1 Predacon's, Seacon's, stuff like Abominus and Doubleheader). Got 0 attachement to BW stuff other than Black Arachnia, Dinobot (and I'd rather have the real Dinobot's made before Dinobot himself got a new figure). Rhinox, and maybe Tarantulus.
>>5549305
A lot of people aren't 35 years old.

Fellow /toy/soldiers, got a question. Is the "Legends" sized RID Bumblebee worth getting? I got Sideswipe back in the summer and wasn't overly impressed. However while looking for Combaticons I've seen Bee and he looks kind of cool. Trying not to pull the trigger if he's not really cool. Thanks!

So BotCon's done after this year, yeah?

>>5549287
Probably.
I just don't have enough cash to justify the Takara releases even i truly think they're better head wise.
>>5549336
This was my childhood.
It really has so much creativity and variety.
We need a new Cybertron esque series, in terms of like everything.
>>5549372
God, I had that thing. The green peacock and blue falcon too.
>>5549422
Never, it's all being sold to Toys R Us at a 50% markup.
>>5549422
No, Fun Publications as Botcon organizer is done. botcon will go on. It existed before FunPub and it'll exist after.
Hasbro will probably take on the duties of the con themselves. Expect a more direct approach with the toys and likely more of a tie-in to current lines than the fan-wank stuff of the FunPub days.
>>5549428
Hasbro shoehorning it into Armada/Energon as a trilogy hurt it quite a lot. A lot of it doesn't really add up, from what I remember. I stopped watching after the first few episodes.
The toys are still A+ though.
>>5549428
I mostly missed Cybertron as I was on a Lego bender at the time (Exo Force fucking rocked I tells yer). The regret I feel for only buying one Cybertron toy as a kid is overwhelming.
That said, I am planning on buying some Cybertron toys. I definitely want Ransack and Crumplezone at the very least. I'd love to get Soundwave too, but I really wish someone would make more minions for him. I mean there'd be no way to make them all fit in his chest at once, but it'd still be cool.
>>5549323
I'm 21 and grew up with G1
>>5549462
I feel bad for Hasbro if anything, because Cybertron was clearly designed to be a part of the Armada/Energon trilogy, and the anime creators straight up ignored them.
A lot of characters are clearly the same as Armada/Energon characters. would've been cool to see Hot shot finish his arc and become a fully grown and competent leader, with the defense team under his command. Finishing up the storylines Energon tried to lay out(Beast Planet being the planet Alpha Q and the Terrorcons sacrificed themselves to create, Starscream regaining his personality. Energon left a bad taste in people's mouths and Cybertron could've redeemed the era.
>>5549475
DVDs I'm guessing?
I'm 24 and didn't watch G1 outside the movie until online streaming started going mainstream. I knew of G1 because of beast Wars and the internet, had some idea of it, and watched the movie. But even though DVDs were out, they were expensive, and I stuck to using money for toys and games.Besides I didn't think G1 was going to be that important, I thought the UT was the future.
I always thought it was weird how Hasbro never made sure G1 stayed in rotation, yet other 80's shows dd. As a kid I watched 80's GI Joe, Silverhawks, and Thundercats was a staple of Toonami. But G1 was this hidden thing that wasn't on TV between G2 and the Hub.
>>5549462
Eh, Armada/Energon/Cybertron story lines were weird.
>Pokemon: Transformers Edition
>Cool robots fighting the fuck out of eachother
>DBZ: CGI Transformers Edition
The whole find the mini-cons thing was played out quick, and hunting for the keys in cybertron was also played out quick. Energon was cool though because everything got crazy with Unicron and shit.
Regardless, that trilogy had some of THE BEST figures to date. (had a handful of shit ones too by I digress)
>>5548207
It's Canadian fart humor....AGAIN!!
>>5549487
DVD's? Shit... please.
VHS all the way man. My dad had a carboard box of like 150+ VHS tapes with G1 Transformers on them (and weird commercials).
My parents bought collectibles from yard sales (mostly rock memorabilia) and sold the stuff on ebay. Being a young child in the 90's was cool. Almost every yardsale I went to a woman was selling off her son's 80's transformers. I had all sorts of G1 figures from yard sales, I still have most of them too. They rarely had accessories, but I have Jazz, Wheeljack, Prime, Bumblebee, Rodimus, etc etc.
I didn't grow up in a family with much money, but I had cool as fuck toys out the ass thanks to my parents taking me to yard sales all the time. I basically grew up on 70's and 80's Media while being exposed to the strictly good things of the 90's. It was cool. Explains also why nearly all my best friends are like.. 6-10 years older than I am which is weird.
>>5549510
Why would they buy rocks?
>>5549519
So for the next 4 hours on ebay orders over $100 with paypal get $20 off with the code C20FLASH. (Offer ends at 7pm PT)
Go buy that Transformer you always wanted /toy/!
>>5549261
>Keep in mind a lot of us didn't grow up with G1
I grew up in the Unicron Trilogy and I got all of G1 on DVD which made me buy the original toys over movie shit when '07 rolled around, 20 years after it aired and still creating geewunners.
>>5549532
>>5549519
>not going to /rock/ to bitch over the latest rock and rock accessories to enhance your rocks.
The cheap rocks used to make rocks nowadays are shit compared to the rocks in my childhood. None of the ones in my driveway even transform.
>>5549535
Yikes, so you brought a bunch of bricks at probably terrible mark ups over some of the best toys this franchise ever got. I mean, why not Classics at least?
I mean, I was also one of those BW/UT kids who was intrigued by G1, but after buying a few G1 reissues I thought they were too overpriced for what they are.
>>5549557
>so you brought a bunch of bricks at probably terrible mark ups
Not the original cast, I streamed Headmasters, Masterforce etc in shitty 240p and amassed a small collection of masters, throwing them in with Armada bases/minicons. My family didn't have a lot of money growing up so a lot of the G1 figures were missing pieces.
I did buy some movie figures but I just didn't like the aesthetic all that much.
>>5549475
>>5549510
Hey, same actually! I never had cable growing up so I always watched Transformers on VHS tapes rented from Blockbuster.
I'd go to the stores and always be confused because I couldn't find all of the cool guys from G1. I remember being stoked when the Hot Shot with Hot Rod's colors came out, and even more stoked when Rodimus himself showed up in the Energon line.
You don't know how insanely happy I was when Ultra Magnus showed up in both Classics and Masterpiece.
>>5549600
Me too dude, me too.
Question, Did you completely fucking hate Hot Shot for basically replacing Hot Rod? I did... I was always like "Who the fuck is this? It's like Bumblebee and Hot Rod had a baby." I couldn't stand him because of that. Loved the Hot Shot homage repaint though. I still have my Energon Rodimus Prime too.
>>5549547
fuckin rock lords... god damn.
>>5549547
>jet made of rock
holy crap
>>5549604
I only ever caught a couple of episodes of Armada at my older sister's house from time to time so I never really knew who Hot Shot was supposed to be or what he was like.
I just assumed they were related or something.
I did hate Hot Shot's toy though because it couldn't hold the fucking Star Saber even though every pack-in comic had him holding it.
>>5549604
oh man you'll love this, I just remembered I saw RiD Scourge in a Toys R Us one time and thought it was crazy that they made an entire toy out of "that one time Megatron built an evil fake Optimus"
I also remember not wanting to buy Armada Megatron because he looked nothing like what Megatron was supposed to, but I was cool with Galvatron because it was kinda close enough
Armada Galvatron was such a sick toy
>>5549612
Scourge... Lol.
Also, what was up with the damn pincers on Megatrons head in Armada? The Armada Megatron/Galvatron molds were cool. How about that Energon Galvatron though? That figure was a sick homage to the G1 Galvatron.
Anyone else use UT characters as G1 characters but wasn't entirely familiar with G1 characters?
I used Energon Bulkhead as Springer for so long I started to think Springer actually looked like Bulkhead besides the colors. When Generations springer came out it was jarring becauseI had convinced myself that springer had a cockpit chest and a visor.
>>5549624
Aaron Archer wanted to make Megatron looks like some kind of demon. Also in 2002/2003 we were going through a bunch of different Megatron designs from late BW through RiD, with the only bucketheaded one being the Transmetal II and Megabolt. So there wasn't an attempt to stick to tradition with Megatron like they did with Optimus.
Also in the planning stages Armada was meant to be a G1 sequel, with Megatron being the son of the original.
I'm almost 30 and even if i wached some G1 as kid I think the people of my generationa grow up more with the Beast Wars...
I supose for some people those animalformers can be a bit weird but the toys was not so bad compared with G1, at least we had no more stickers and they had more articulations, the show was not so bad, (for a kids show)
This is more a question for /co/ but... outside nostalgia feelins, which are the best Transformers shows for you?
>>5549340
Looks great except for the fact that he used Energon Superion instead of the superior CW/UW Superion.
>>5549640
I think even besides nostalgia, Beast wars is the best to me. I couldn't fully grasp the more developed aspects of BW as a kid, so rewatching it as a teenager was like a new experience(same with other things like Gundam and Dragon ball). As a kid I just liked the action.
I think personality goes a long way, a lot of the BW characters are really engaging and I care about them more than most series. Rattrap in particular is a character I didn't care about as a kid but really like now. As a pessimistic coward who's still capable and able to pull through and be reliable, he's unlike most hero characters in the franchise.
I feel similarly about Animated. Its a flawed show overall, but individual aspects of the show makeit really memorable and a fun watch.
I think Prime is the most technically solid series we've had, but a lot of it is too bland or annoying. I really have no desire to ever watch it again. Its a good primer for Transformers, though, for new fans.
I like the first few episodes of G1, and the third season. Like a lot of 80's cartoons, the opening episodes are some of the strongest. The middle season 1/2 episodes are mostly a wash with a handful of cool episodes. Season 3 I really enjoyed; it gets a bad rep by people who can't let go of the Rodimus thing. There's a pretty groundbreaking attempt at doing long running arcs in the season, some interesting characterization and mythos building. I'll even go as far to say I find Rodimus more interesting than Optimus. And Galvatron steals the show, probably my favorite 80's villain.
Cybertron was a solid watch, but not something I need to rewatch, same with RiD's dub. Armada had some really great episodes, but mostly padding. Energon was kind of a wash.
The 80's animes are good for what they are, but I'd rather watch brave. I really want to see more of the BW animes, even if thye're basically just shonen anime with some bW textures.

Didn't think you could ruin Generations Arcee, but there it is.
>>5549677
Ah okay. Thought it was the new RID one.
>>5549679
What did you say about Stealth Arcee and Lucha Chromia?
>>5549679
Those colors only look bad on Arcee because that mold was so clearly meant to be the gentle G1 character. The face really clashes. The few times she used those colors in the comics, it suited that body.
Chromia's just ugly though, I'll give you that. The comics artists couldn't salvage that even.
>>5549685
Haha, looks like she's wearing leg-warmers from the thumbnail
>>5549690
I know right?
So erotic.
>>5549685
I think Chromia's head is just unappealing. I have her and Beast Hunters Arcee and I think Arcee looks better even though they are nearly the same when in robot mode.

Armada Unicron and MP Optimus' reveals are the happiest I've ever seen this fandom.

>>5549758
Pretty much.
I've love for the "traveling to multiple worlds" theme to come back in a new series.
>>5549758
RiD had lots of beasts and shit.
>>5549742
Unicron getting a toy was a pipe dream before then though, so him finally getting one ages later was a total shock and the excitement was warranted.
MPs back then were also unheard of, a toy that was actually well made that mimicked the cartoon as much a humanly possible? Sold!
Now MPs are so common that it's not really a big deal with most of them, and it's diluted with remolds and recolors (did anybody really want a MP Sunstorm?).
It's basically the same thing with Combiner Wars now. People were hyped when it was announced and the Aerialbots and Stunticons started coming out, now it's wore out it's welcome somewhat as the line is full of repaints, retools, and questionable decisions in toy design. Same will happen with Titans Return when the second, third, and forth wave all mostly recolors with new heads and the quality control starts dipping noticeably.
>>5549494
>Energon was cool though
anon i grew up with energon. but i know the smell of bullshit when i smell it
>>5549785
>Same will happen with Titans Return
It's already worn out it's welcome.
>>5549795
What? How?
>>5549758
Yeah. You know what killed that? The movies.
Why? Because the old design team decided to be slaves to the movies for the sake of brand synchronicity. They decided Transformers in pop culture was the movies, so they shouldn't stray far from it. so when Universe v2 came out, they ditched things like G1 beast formers and sci-fi altmodes(which the first Classics line had). Further series stuck to the alt-mode choices laid out by the movies; i.e. mainly street vehicles and aircrafts, with a few select outliers. Prime suffered the most from this.
The movies are beholden to certain alt-mode for budget/marketing reasons. Its easy to film car scenes, not so easy to film scenes of aquatic vehicles(especially when said vehicles transform). As an added bonus, a lot of car companies will even pay to have their cars featured(Bay has even said that car execs just come to his office petitioning to have their car featured in is movies).
Yo, I've got a lot of OP's, but like two Megs (Beast Hunters Sharkticon and CW Armada). Any recommendations for a good Megatron?
>>5549628
Well his name in Superlink was "Sprung", so he's supposed to be "Springer but weirder."
>>5549824
Tfa leader megatron but be warned he may scare you out of a deep slumber.
Also I'm a big fan of the leader class energon mold. He's not the most flexible guy but hes hefty and comes with an awesome gun tank thing.
>>5549806
The design team has certainly gotten enough confidence to start doing weirder alt modes again though.
>Prime dedicates entire subline to a Predacon faction
>Thrilling 30 brings back BW CHUGs
>Legends Class brings in Insecticons, Cosmos, Shockwave
>Titans Return has Headmasters, Deluxes include robotic animals, every Voyager is a Triple-Changer
The only reason CW didn't have beasts is because they probably only has enough budget to churn out the molds they produced.
>>5549837
>budget to churn out the molds they produced.
Not to mention the majority of those molds had to be quadchangers
>>5549830
>Tfa leader megatron but be warned he may scare you out of a deep slumber.
I understand that reference.
>>5549824
Build an army of tiny Megatrons, plenty of then are good toys.
>Legends 2-pack tankatron
>Cyberverse Commander Prime Megs
>Cyberverse Commander Mad Max Megs
>Legends Class pistol Megatron
I also liked the ROTF Legends Megatron, but the earlier Legends class might not work for you.
>>5549837
Its more like the entire design team that was around in the movie days got fired, for better or worse, and the new design team is made up of absolute madmen. But at least they have balls.
A year of headmaster homages is crazy if you think about it, they're the most overtly 80's of the G1 stuff. They're not particularly popular or frequently used characters either. The old design team would've probably stuck Bumblebee in the line. The old design team had no idea how to introduce something as popular as combiners yet this one crammed 3 years of them in 1 year.
>>5549830
>WHERE IS THE ALLSPARK
>>5549679

>>5549857

>>5549870
And they did it with a system that, while kinda stagnant transformation-wise, proved that less is more in how everything was handled.
They just said "Fuck integrated limb kibble" and came up with the HFG so the arm and leg modes didn't become FoC Bruticus levels of unsightly. Like they took a look at the G1 scramble teams and said "Maybe the design conventions here aren't as antiquated as we thought."
Even the worse torso molds look pretty nice as display pieces.
>>5549151

It's actually the 'premium deco' that bumps the price up, according to a Hasbro rep.

>>5549952
Victory? never heard of it, is a japanese show?
>>5550025
One of the best
>>5549340
That would be Guido Guidi as evidenced by the watermark. If you don't know who that is I can't help you.
>>5550001
e bretty gud
>>5550053
The person was referring to making that pose with Combiner Wars and Reissue Transformers!
>>5550081
Ah ok.
Also: does anyone else prefer G2 MP Sideswipe over the regular one? I love the sneering face and spiked tires. It's so nineties it hurts.
>>5550001
I have the G2 version. Actually 2 of them because the first one I got had an issue with one of the flaps not pegging in but I love mold so I kept it to keep it in vehicle mode.
>>5550094
Not him, but how are you supposed to store G2 Sideswipe's knife in robot mode? I can't seem to find any good pictures.
>>5549640
I'm also almost 30, but local Blockbuster = renting and watching what G1 was available.
Animated and BW were probably the best shows when you consider quality of writing and characterization.
>>5550104
It just kinda hangs in the gap behind the head and the windshield. There's no way to actually secure it.
>>5549785
We didn't have too many MPs, but we had alternators. Which was close.
>>5550120
Nah, when protos or MP Optimus and Unicron first came out, Alternators was also i the proto stage.
>>5550001
It's great.
>>5550149
Not as great as the datsun cars
>>5550001
Personally not my favorite MP car mold. I wish the panel lines in car mode were a little less egregious, but in robot mode he's much better. His transformation's fairly straightforward and pretty fun. The one major flaw I have with him, and idk if this is a YMMV issue, but my version just won't keep the gun in his hand securely if you close the fist up all the way. It unseats itself from the palm slot in his right hand. In his left, the tab just won't stay in at all. So I just keep the rifle in the hole on his shoulder cannon.
Solid 7/10 tho. Would still recommend.
>>5550169
But still great.
Really loving this pair, got the Magnus re-issue along with Hot Rod last week. Hours of fun. Makes me want more post-movie MP bots.
>>5549640
Superlink/Energon
I do remember BW vaguely, but Superlink/Energon got me back into collecting. It is a homage galore series.
Megatron with a galvatron head, then repaint to purple to become galvatron. And then there's Star Saber himself, Shockwave and last but not least, Omega Supreme, which also has a headmaster !! fucking joy that time.
Animated. I love the series due to its aesthetic, and Hastak was really pushing the limit of the design back then, as I doubted they could follow the animation but damn !! I still remember how cool the attack copter megatron toy was when I hold it.
>>5550195
Fix UM's knees please.
How big is the FoC Soundwave/Blaster toy? BBTS is selling the Blaster version for 26 dollars and I don't know if that's worth it. Is it a deluxe?
I bought the Rumble/Ravage/Frenzy/Ratbat data disc bundle on clearance and I want to be able to launch them as intended, faction be damned.
>>5550225
What's wrong with them?
>>5550232
Which one? IIRC there were Deluxe and Voyager ones.
>>5550235
They're bending in a broken leg manner.
>>5550236
Voyager.
>>5550241
and reason I asked if it was a deluxe was because the JP version didn't list it in the name of the toy and I stupidly didn't notice it until I read the description. The Hasbro version is actually a buck cheaper now that I found it on their site.
>>5550241
Same size as most Voyagers then. Around 7 or so inches I guess? I have FoC Soundwave, I like'em a lot.
>>5550232
The TG17 one? That's the Takara release of the Voyager FoC mold.
Really nice mold overall in whichever flavor you pick up.
>>5550247
Cool, guess I'll go for it. Really wanted Soundwave but his prices are stupid.
So I was just checking releases, and noticed there's a gap before the first TR figures arrive and the Sky-Reign wave of CW deluxes.
Are we getting another CW wave?
>>5549640
I'm not really invested in any related media. Watched quite a lot tf cartoons and movies but didn't find them particularly good. More interested in the toys as toys.
>>5548582
>tfw want to own the Beast Wars Neo cast but it's not subbed and they're all shellformers
>>5550258
I'm guessing that's mostly boxed sets since there's like three or four in the pipelines right now.
>>5550310
So in place of another wave, they'd try to sell Victorion?
Are stores (aside from TRU, and online) actually going to sell the boxsets?
>>5550316
They've got Computron, Liokaiser, Victorion, and any G2 sets they haven't put out yet to sell.
>>5550169
Hmm maybe I'm in the minority. I like the Lambor molds more than the datsuns.
>>5550316
The gap is also good if you consider that retailers have the habit of skipping last waves so that they can jump onto the next series in the toyline.
still looking for sky lynx, goddamn
>>5550393
He just started showing up in stores, goddamn
>>5550385
Yeah, that makes sense.
>>5550406
in america sure
btw how is he as skylynx? i heard he sucked as skyreign
>>5549280
Possibly because they planned another mold or retool of something else, which ended up falling through, forcing them to replace the missing case-space. Since Computron may have been planned, they may have decided to use the Scattorshot tooling as case-filler to replace whatever didn't get made. Either that or they're just faggots.
>>5550424
He has floppy back feet that keep falling in when he's standing in robot mode. Shuttle mode is fine.
My Sky Reign torso is also perfectly fine, but others have problems with theirs being floppy.
>>5550432
can't it be tighten with floor polish?
it's just those particular joints right?
I still have g1 Sky Lynx, and frankly, I don't see the CW version as any kind of improvement. Why bother?
>>5550435
My Sky Lynx has floppiness on all of the blue parts, like the mold for the blue runner was made too big by a fraction of a millimeter. It's mainly the rear feet and wings, the latter requiring some careful glue breaking along the seam of the white hubs.
>>5550443
Not everyone has G1 Skylynx, or his reissue man. Or wants one.
I loved Skylynx as a kid though, no longer have him due to moves/age/etc. I really want the CW one, but unfortunately he's looking to be riddled with problems so now I've got to wait and hope Takara puts out a UW set with him.
>>5550443
I have CW Sky Lynx and I agree. It's mostly for those who were never blessed with his greatness in G1 or just want another combiner torso, and I was in both of those categories.
>>5550449
Hey /tfg/, how does a CW gestalt scale with MP Grimlock? What about FOC Grimlock?
>>5550511
Whoops, didn't mean to quote you, anon.
>>5550001
The G2 version is pretty awesome, the regular one is pretty much the same with less cool weapons and a less interesting colour scheme.
If you can get him for a decent price then he's totally worth it.
>>5549758
Cybertron also had one of the only bruiser-looking motherfuckers who had a really speedy altmode: Crumplezone
Man, I love Crumplezone. He's even a triple-changer into a jet if you manipulate his limbs a bit
>>5549364
>pic related
>rid
>posting cw
dafuq u doing m8
>>5550511
FoC Grimlock looks like he'd work for the scale in that pic based on my ramshackle Superion.
>>5549640
Cybertron, Beast Wars are my top two.
TFA, Prime and RID are like next....TFA is good the other two are alright, they have things I rather liked (characters or voice acting that click with me).
G1 is fun for the absurdity, and the 86 movie rocks even for a Star Wars ripoff.
Armada is passable.
Energon and Car Robots sucked.
BM is eh.
Rescue Bots is good but not for me.
>>5549640
I watched most of the Transformers shows on Hasbro's website as a kid. I loved Cybertron and Beast Wars the best I think. I will always have a space in my heart for G1, as I watched Season 1 on VHS as a kid. Now I'm older though...hmm. I've been meaning to watch Cybertron in Japanese and rewatch Beast Wars. I actually really liked Prime, wrinkles and all. I do want to watch Animated as I hear it's pretty good.
OK, here's a question- who would you pick for a new Transformers anime (director, composer, voice actors etc).
Myself...hmm.
>Studio: Trigger
>Director: Hiroyuki Imaishi
>Composer/Theme song: Ichiro Mizuki
>Optimus Prime's voice: Norio Wakamoto
>Megatron's voice: Fumihiko Tachiki (Get in the fucking space bridge, Starscream)
>Other characters and their voices: Megumi Hayashibara as Arcee, Akira Ishida as Starscream, Tetsuya Inada as Rook, Ami Koshimizu as Strika, Katsuyuki Koshiki as Sideswipe, a heavily synthesized/distorted Romi Park as Soundwave.
(Obviously there would be other characters, those are just the ones I can think of.)
>>5550237
How much of an inflexible fatty are you? They're hyper-extended, at the most.
Dear TakaraTomy,
I have purchased your Japanese Exclusive retool of Transformer Adventure Bumblebee. Now, would you kindly please release a Rodimus repaint of this mold, kudasai?
I will buy it even if you pack it in a 2-pack with Strongarm.
>>5550615
>tfw I passed up onthis glorious repaint and retool
The one time bumblebee got good and I dun fucked up
>>5550615
Sorry no. Thank you for buying our junk though.
Sincerely,
Takasa Tony
>>5550615
H-hey anon, are you saying i'm ugly?
>>5550637
I could be. Or could not could be not could be.
>>5549090
Tank weapon is still being released. Colors might be different though.
>>5550641
I-i'm not so fat!
Post your dream Transformer, even if it'll never be a reality
>Combiner Omega Supreme, made of four Deluxe limbs and one Leader
>names are Omega 1-4 and Omega Controller
>As an homage to Energon Omega Supreme, each limb is a section of a futuristic military train as their altmode.
>One arm could be a digger arm for excavating Energon, the other a missile platform and the legs could be personnel carriages with their robot-mode guns mounted on top
>this way, the combiner has a combined vehicle mode as well as robot mode
But HERE's the kicker:
>Omega Controller, like Titans Return leaders, folds out into a playset
>the armformers can fold out the underside of their vehicle modes (presumably formed out of their legs like CW Warpath or PCC Bombshock) at 90-degree angles to become walls, and leave their turret/scoop intact
>the legformers can fold out their legs to become taller, and stick vertically to Omega Controller to become skyscrapers, like TT Metroplex's guns
>all five robots can triple-change into a gestalt City Mode
>all five robots have Headmasters to play around in the City Mode
It would never happen in a million years, but I don't think the engineering would be half as complicated as it seems to do something like this.
>>5550645
By the way, this is still a thing in Singapore.
>>5550647
I essentially have my primary dream transformer, being an optimus prime fag that would be mp-10, however a remastered mp megatron with all of the gimmicks of mp-05, with NO concern for gun safety laws would be amazing.
Knowing my luck and my country's strict gunlaws though it'll be confiscated, mp-05 came in robot mode so scanners wouldn't pick him up unless told before hand, but a remastered megatron Would be in his more compact form, a gun, rulling him out, thus an mp galvatron would do nicely.
If we're talking fictional concepts I suppose a titan class tidal wave would do greatly, nothing like a fuckhuge aircraft carrier duking it out with my titan metroplex would be sweet, I can't really for the life of me come up with gimmicks, I'm devoid of imagination
>>5550650
they... they don't love me... (feeling circuits hurt)
>>5550647
MP Seaspray. I'll settle for a new Legends class version, though.
>>5550647
my only desire is show accurate toys...
>>5550650
Is this a prove girls at the end don't really care about transformers?
they said they wanted to make the franchise more gender neutral/more friendly to girls, im not sure this will work...
>>5550607
So do your knees bend the wrong way when casually standing?
>>5550673
The problem lies in the fact those speaking up for women are loud, outspoken or "caring" about a minority that may not even exist.
Yes girl tf fans are real, but many are short term fans, trans genders (either direction) and very few remain "in" it.
I only know they faintly exist because in my time in retail I met a mother buying her son barbie dolls while buying some one steps for her girls, I shit you not the kids didn't look or act queer it was their older siblings who they admired (of different genders) that got them into it.
Unless they like them as kids on their own its usually a peer thing and girls tend to drop out after a few years, I say sure, give us girl characters, make them good story wise and toy wise.
But for fucks sake not another victorion situation that was retarded, windblade was worth it (apart from her shit toys, they're getting worse)
>>5550673
Naw, I think it's just RID isn't that popular.
>>5550647
a 3rd party masterpiece level Landcross.
6 robots, each one has a robot mode and a vehicle mode, and they can combine, any 2 at a time, to create a larger robot with an entirely new head, or all 6 together to make a gestalt.
If they did it 30 years ago, they can do it now.
Hastak would never do it because they couldn't re-use the molds for anything, it would be an entire team of one-shot uses, probably hollow and shitty plastic. I'd pay the premium of 3p to see someone do it right.
As doofy as they are, it wasn't so bad they didn't revisit the concept in Energon.
>>5550692
Wrong, we also got free giveaways back in the day of TFA Blackarachnia and Movie 1 Swindle (the red car guy).
Stores always give away one item when it fails to sell, and Strongarm is failing to sell because no matter how much online noise people do about 'girls in duh fandom" the target audience is still mostly boys.
>>5549800
Remember how CW started?
two planes shared a mold and OP was a retool of Motormaster released first? We didn't think much of it then however wave 3 all but one of the deluxes was a retool and one of the only two voyagers was as well. Wave 4? All retools. And wave 5 the Bruticus wave a very sought after team by the fans and the only original mold is Brawl and he is the worse of the bunch. and the last waves only original mold was Skylynx.
So then Titans Return shows already that more figures are already plan for remolds than CW at that time it doesn't give much hope that wave three onward is going to be anything but how much can two certain molds be used to death.
>>5549640
I had fun with BW, TFA, Prime and I'm having fun with RID right now. The writing isn't good in most of episodes for the not-BW ones, but the characters are good and that is all I need.
Everything else fucking bores me, the animes in particular are noxious. Those other shows I only care about the toys from them I like.

>>5550755
>>5550786

>>5550668
While he's not G1, does the Takara HFTD Sea Spray not do it for you? I own the Hasbro version and together with Breacher they're two of the best Transformers around.

Dubbers get the short end of the stick. Cut them some slack.
Did you know that Steve Blum made more money in one episode of Prime than he did for the entire run of Cowboy Bebop?
They do what they can.
>>5550647
A CW Predaking
>>5550844
Please tell me he did cowboy bebop because he liked it and not because he was desperate, can't believe a hasbro production of all things paid him well!
Ok, look, my crack is mostly at who makes the casting voices, pretty sure the actors themselves can't just say "I want to be dat guy", I know there would be audition process to be characters...
I dunno, I admire their courage, just these days anime being dubbed always sounds the same and I hear tara strong in everything, I have no contempt for her, she has a wide vocal range (christ that harley quinn in the batman games was close to the original), and we know back in g1 several characters were played by the same guy, I still worry about how frank welker playing both megatron and soundwave, let alone Peter Cullen himself...
I just feel most western voice actors sound the same, its as if they aren't trying to vary themselves up, kinda like that nyanners on youtube sad to say.
I guess I need to find find some good dubs one day, in the mean time I guess we should go back to the main topic at hand...the toys.
Talking mp's when?
>>5550808
Which version is that on the left?
>>5550831
>Kotono Mitsuishi as Thunderblast
I never knew I wanted this.
>>5550860
A lot of actors have a wide vocal range.
Too bad the people hiring them tell them to do their most famous voices all the fucking time. It's a studio problem, not an actor one (usually).
>>5550869
We will never have a nice feminine toy of this fembot, we don't deserve such bless...
Sky Reign limbs showed up in my area. Just picked up Hound and Trailbreaker for now though. I'm not totally into Sky Reign until I can figure out a good limb set-up for him that isn't the 84 bots, and Wheeljack just looks bad.
>>5550602
>New Transformers anime
>Studio: Sunrise
>Director: Shinji Takamatsu
>Composer: Taku Iwasaki or Yasunori Iwasaki or Kohei Tanaka (they're all so good any would be great)
Literally anything else is fine as long as you have Masami Obari as the animation director and somehow give every episode an OVA budget.
>>5550893
Wheeljack improves a lot if you paint/color in the fake windshield on his chest.

They don't have to conform to your oppressive chauvinistic ideals!

That's some damn cool artwork.
>>5550673
Do female Transformers fan exist? Yes
But they are a very special breed. strong feminist, anti male, either transgender or just with a lot of daddy issues
There is no passive or casual female Transformers fans, just the ones that are all in drawing pictures of Jazz having "sticky" with Prowl while posting on tumblr how Botcon does not do all female voice cast auditions for the script reading.
But we can somewhat celebrate that every year about 25% of them quit the fandom to be OCD on the next thing tumblr deems "progressive"
How do you spot them: Short hair, glasses, and tons of social issues.
>>5550860
He loves the character now, but he was probably just taking a job then.
Also the reason you hear the same VA playing different characters in a show is that part of the voice actors union is that they HAVE to voice at least 2 characters per episode of whatever they are doing.
That's when those with a great range shine like Kevin Michael Richardson. Watch clips of Cleveland Brown Jr. from the Cleveland Show and its ridiculous that he's the same guy that also played Bulkhead in Prime and Joker in The Batman.
>>5550941
Holy pork and beans, just a quick Google search brings up nothing but short hair, glasses and one thing you left out, a weight class of 200lbs or more. Thank god it's the last Botcon
>>5550946
Why did they have a black Joker anyway?
>>5550941
Don't forgot questionable gender ambiguity
Is it a woman? Or is it a male shaped like a pear? Welcome to the women of Botcon
This right here
Short hair, glasses, fat, looks like a man
And the kicker? Protoform Package badge.
They don't even pay to be at the show, just the lowest possible tier so they can linger outside the dealer room and panel room to get attention
Victorian is going to bomb and Hasbro hopefully will learn their lesson from this
