Do you guys think Mezco could be a dark horse in the action figure department?

I'm not a huge collector by any means but the Judge Dredd figure is fantastic and I'm eager to see what they come out with next.

They definitely are doing something different. I'm a little disappointed that it's alot of the same characters that we see from everybody else though. There are many characters that would sell but never even get a chance because of dumb Nips and Chads.
>>
>>5545677
You really can't blame them when this line is brand new still and they're still trying to raise awareness for it.
Also, making Shazam is pretty niche, same with Space Ghost, and Green Arrow.

That show is so fucking insufferable. It's 90% talking/relationship drama of which about 50% is constant flashbacks. Then 10% piss poor action scenes with people twirling about like morons in an attempt to look cool but having no basis in proper combat techniques.

No, but it doesn't mean I'm not tired of the same stuff over and over and over.

Sux 4 u, but Mezco Green Arrow will be my first GA figure and their Punisher will be my first 6" Punisher.
It may not be new to you, but I'm finally filling out my collection of wanted characters, because they're very impressive and better than all their figures that had been done a million times over that i passed over a million times.

I may also get Space Ghost.

Cloth have potential to last just as long as plastic. Cloth only tends to tear and rip because of how washing machines abuse the clothes and constant abrasion/force from wear. Otherwise a cloth shirt that's never been worn from 40 years ago is just as good as new.

There is images of the Prototype Spiderman, Deadpool and Red Skull out there. I am glad we are getting Red Skull, finally a decent figure of the character in this size. You'd think Doctor Doom would be an obvious choice but since Marvel shelved F4, maybe not.

>>
>>5546130
I ordered Kirk and will order McCoy. But neither of them have had anywhere near as many toys as some of Mezco's lineup.
>>
>>5546864

Yeah. It's the shoes that bug me, too. Spidey's gotta have flexible feet. That shit don't look right.
>>
>>5546864
I feel the same way about the Civil War costume. So close to a perfect adaptation of the classic costume, then they had to add the stupid slits and notches of blue in the red areas.
>>
>>5545578
Aside from the faces I'm really not too impressed. Proportions look weird when standing straight up and the cleanliness of the sculpt in some areas is very eh.
>>
>>5545580
This would be fantastic with a DCD Kingdom Come head on it.

>>
I have a feeling this line is gonna have crazy aftermarket prices.
>>
>>5547558

Yes. You would be correct.
>>
>>5547558
Mezco's already re-released Batman after he started up in price, so they're handling the demand pretty well.
Just know that it's mostly retailer feedback that tells them if there is demand. So bitch to your retailers about it if you want to see something re-released/remade/etc. This is true for most toylines as well.
>>
>>5548196
why would we bitch to a retailer and not to the manufacturers themselves? Does anyone actually do that?
>>
>>5548285
because retailers are the ones that reorder stuff.
The more reorders they try to put in, the more likely a company will re-release something.

Basically, money talks. Bitching doesn't.
>>
I really hope Mezco makes a a new Hellboy figure of this quality and articulation.
>>
>>5546791
I'm not too worried until I see an actual prototype on display somewhere.
>>
>>5545677
If there were characters that would sell we would see them already.

They gotta play it safe and to be honest, they didnt even play it that safe. Their second release was Judge Dredd. They are definitely coming out with some different characters among the old faithfuls characters that are guaranteed to sell

>>

Why the fuck am I not a Captain Marvel fan?

I guess it's the having a mind of a boy weirds me out a little and prefer him as a slightly lesser recognised iconic embodiment of the classic Superhero.
>>
>>5548310
>If there were characters that would sell we would see them already.
Classic appeal to authority. If all of the characters that sell have been made, then all of the characters made have sold, right? I just don't want to see Mezco fall into the same Iron Man and Darth Vader rut that Hasbro is in. Toys are just boring to me with so much repetition. Hopefully they can keep sneaking an interesting figure out here and there.
>>
>>5549750
If you're at all interested in Captain Marvel, check out the Power of Shazam series by Jerry Ordway. There's never been a better embodiment of who the character is.

>Weird muscle bulges under off-scale cloth
>giant stitches

Okay, I am not trying to shitpost, they have good sculpts on the faces, some okay details.
That said, if you do 1/12 you really need to step up the cloth game, or lose it entirely. Say what you will about poseability, but I'll take a sculpted plastic cape or sculpted plastic costume over an off-scale threaded, stitched cloth cape or outfit every time. That shitty cloth kills my suspension of disbelief, and I can't shake the fact they look like Shinkis, or dolls, in home made outfits.
My 2 cents.

Honestly, you really can't do better than what Mezco is offering.
I hate a lot of 3a's stuff because of the oversized stitching and just the bulkiness of the clothes, but seeing Mezco's stuff, it seems most of my hate just comes from the bulkiness of the clothes, because Mezco's stuff just doesn't trigger my inner asspie when they're using spandex to cut down on the bulk.

And I'm really glad that Mezco isn't forcing cloth for fucking everything. It's one thing that made 3a's stuff so ugly and harder to pose while looking good, because they'd have plastic over the cloth like armor bits and awkward looking pouches.
Using sculpted plastic is usually better than using cloth.

Oh, and that guy is right, the capes do scale really well.

mostly no, although it pops up now and again

he's just Shazam now
>>
>>5553424
Sadly, not as much because DC doesn't want to deal with the confusion between him and marvel comics.

It really pisses me off that they changed it though. He's been Captain Marvel for seventy years. DC won the legal right to call him that. Changing it is just disrespectful to the character and everyone who's worked on the character.
>>
>>5553764
DC fucked themselves over by suing the creators of Shazam in the first place and then not doing shit with him until after Marvel got the copyright for Captain Marvel..

To be fair the only $80 one so far is Cap, and I'd have to say... no, he doesn't seem like he's worth that. $65-70 is what these are worth in my opinion, and no more unless they have a very complicated outfit or a ton of accessories. That's based on owning two of their Batman figures.

>>
>>5555751
For a 1:12 scale figure it is pretty steep.

Scale does not equal quality.
>>
>>5555770
Quality might not be the card to play, here, with this funky-looking spandex and questionable fit and finish.
>>
>>5555890
Even if you don't think this looks good, it's still a perfectly appropriate card to play considering 1/12 scale figures can range from crap like Jazzwares garbage to great like stuff GSC and Tamashii makes.

Scale does not equal quality. A giant turd and a small turd are still both turds. Quite frankly I find it absolutely baffling that anyone could possibly have trouble grasping such a simple concept, especially considering we're on /toy/ of all places.

I was thinking about grabbing the old coast to coast figure for the desk, but would it be a good idea to drop an extra $50 just for the desk? Think it would look good with him?
>>
>>5555978
More like seventy if I remember correctly, but yes, they were about that expensive. Licencing fees or some shit. And they turned out pretty poor. Figma Hulk is like a hundred. I have him on preorder because I love Hulk and I think he's stylized enough in design that he won't suffer from the same issues as the other.

>>
>>5556141
I'm not crazy about the yellow in general, but this figure certainly compounds the "dweeb" issue. The head sculpts for these are just too goofy. It also irritates me that they were able to go without the tacticool just fine for this but not the red suit.

Whats wrong with this look? Literally every other figure in their Marvel line looks like their comic counterpart, why did they have to fuck with Matt so hard? I'd sooner but a figure based off the TV series tbqhf
>>
>>5556235
I personally hate the recent legends figure for using that dehydrated bodybuilder buck. I don't think it's fits DD at all. I prefer a little bit of tacticool and I mean, shoulder pads and knee pads makes sense, his classic look offers zero protection and I think solid spandex suits look far more dweebie than cool, at least in toys. It just never really translates well imo. In the comics the solid red suit is fine.

Actually the torso they recently used for Dr Strange would be a good. A thinner, but still fit torso with some fabric wrinkles.

I would vastly prefer a tv version, though. That shit it cash.

I feel incredibly unsatisfied buying Marvel Legends and Hot Toys are just completely out of my reach. Mezco looks like an opportunity to get some high quality representations of some of my favourite characters in a way that won't break the bank.

I'm not a massive toy collector so spending hundreds seems alien to me, but I'm a big fan and I feel quite comfortable having Judge Dredd looking over my student dorm room.
>>
>>5561235
The dredd is cool, but that suit hinders articulation like a motherfucker.
>>
>>5563880
It's not that bad unless you want limbs spinning around in every direction.
>>
>>5556455

I could go for a Squinting Supes too.
>>

Their Caps look cool but I'm just not enough of a Cap fan to justify it. Batman seems good, but I feel like the Mafex will satisfy me more than enough.
The only alternative for Matt, though, is the Marvel Legends, which I'd happily give up for this one.

Maybe I'll pick up the ML yellow DD since I don't love that suit as much.

I'll see how long it takes for my Daredevil hype to ride off but if I'm still after it when my student loan comes in, I'll preorder.

I want this guy and the other 2. The third version hasn't been revealed yet.

I'd love to see the whole ff line up done by mezco, especially ben. But yeah the whole marvel rights bullshit will probably not let us see the ff for another 10 years :'c

I've found myself itching for a Fantastic Four team lately. I bet they'd have fun with the accessories/alternate body parts.

Where'd you get it for $46?
>>
>>5562289
Amazon fees are 20% and they short you on shipping. There is just no room to charge a reasonable price. I used to sell much cheaper over Square invoice but practically nobody would go for it. They'd prefer to tithe eJew and Amajew and whine about "scalping."
>>
>>5568940
Everybody likes to go "dur hur bbts lol" but then let amazon pound them in the ass even harder.
>>
>>5553183
You're not making a good point with that picture, and you are wrong.

3A might have some ever so slightly oversized stitching that is easy to ignore, but it absolutely does NOT have out of scare fabrics, you can't even see the fibers and threads in that pic the way you can see in every ONE:12 pic.

No, 3A may be shit in their offerings these days, but they are much MUCH better than Mezco when it comes to fabric in this scale.
>>
>>5568961
Muh cheap/free shipping.
Though I gotta say you get your monies worth with BBTS. I didn't even know they made boxes so sturdy or bubblewrap so robust until I ordered from them.

Oh look, ThreeA Dredd shill is back...

They're comparing two completely different materials. You can't compare spandex that has elastic ribbed for tight forming clothes versus the felt/canvas-lite that's looks stiff.
If 3a used spandex, you'd see the same ribbing as Mezco's. There's really no avoiding that.

BTW, the figure on the left has ribbing on his thickass sweater. It's hard to see in that low res image, but it's there. Stylistic choice, but man, thickass stiff clothing bugs me and it's why i prefer Mezco's spandex approach.
>>
>>5569517
huh? I never heard about a 3A shill, I've heard about a Mezco shill though, would that be you? I don't even like their Dredd. I like Mezco's better actually. Although, the outfit on 3A does look better done, but don't like the toothless vibe.

>>5569704
3A has used spandex and it doesn't look as telling as Mezco.

Yeah I know it's there, and it's a bit off scale, but it's waaaaay less noticeable than say Batman.

Even in that hi-res pic you posted, the fibers that are barely noticeable look in scale with the rest of the figure.

Look, I'm not saying 3A is better, it's been years since I've bought anything 3A. I'm just saying their clothing is better, and it is.

Sculpt-wise Mezco is 100x superior. Even if I don't like their "realistic" interpretations, the detail is there.

>3A has used spandex and it doesn't look as telling as Mezco.
I only buy 3a's robot and rarely pay attention to anything else, but pic?
Doesn't count if it's not in 1:12 scale.

BTW, i also don't think Mezco is better than 3a either. I'm just saying that they're limited in the materials they can choose from and either of them can do as good of a job or not.
So i'd like to see 1:12 spandex that doesn't have the ribbing for being skin tight.
... or be pantyhoseshit that'll wear away fucking fast, but i haven't seen that used in a long time, even for 1/6 stuff.

At first I was bothered by the Mezco not having glasses but then I realized the yellow ML bothered me more because it didn't make sense to have glasses on a costumed figure.

Yeah, I'm definitely getting that Daredevil.

Rubberized cloth?
Are you a retard? Its vinyl.

The movie was 'alright' but I don't think I want a Mezco figure so tightly linked to a movie anyway.
