Basically, I want to have some of my figures in jumping/mid-air poses but I don't want to have them anchored to the floor with the figma base as they make the display look kinda cluttered and limit the amount of space I have for other figures. I'm not sure how exactly one would attach the figma stand arm to the suction cup, but I think it's worth a try.

My figma mio came today and I got hit by customs when I got my package at the door for the first time. This has never happened before and I've bought various items from ebay/mandy before.
This is the third thing I bought from mandy and it's the first time I got hit by an additional fee.
I payed 30,000yen for mio which equals to 23euro to me. The custom was 7.21(vat 23%) +7(handling fee) = 14.21euro
The custom cost me more then half of my item and I'm super pissed from this.
Is this justifiable because I'm going to to call the custom post office and see if I can claim back some of my monies because that's fucking ridiculous. What should I say to try and jew back my money? Since I got hit by customs now, does that mean I'm on their system now and that they'll try and squeeze every single penny form any item I get from outside europe from now on?
This fee is annoying but the thing that's fucking up my mental state the most is that the custom cost 2/3 of the price.
I have 2 more boxes coming and these customs are going to damage my autistic brain even more if I have to pay these overcharged fees.
Also does mio not come with a strap for her bass, 'cause I didn't get one in the box? It's brand new as well.

Where do you live? In my country (Iceland) you pay customs and tax of every single item (plus the shipping cost) that comes in, no matter how cheap.
Lets say I buy something for 5000 yen and pay 1000 yen shipping.
6000 x 10% customs fee x 24% tax + 500 yen (not yen, but to simplify) customs handling fee = 2684 yen I have to pay my government.
Is it bullshit? Yes. But that's unfortunately how my country operates.
I suggest you research your country's import fees. Most countries won't charge you if the package is under a certain value, but not Iceland unfortunately.
Btw, 30,000 yen is more like 240 euros.

I misread the price is 30k yen.
In my country, Costa Rica, customs changed their politics about import fees on last year, before the taxes and fees depended on the size and weight, so if a package was huge (weight over 2kg or size over 90cm), it would be taxed, as for toys the tax is 29% + some fees. In the other case, a small packet, you had 50% of chance of being taxed.
But now, your package is taxed no matter the size or weight, so I have to pay 29% + fees for all my packages.

The custom sticker that came with the box saids that any import over 22euro is charged.
I can sort of understand my vat charge but the 'an post' charge, which I assume is handling, is stupid since mail gets posted everday to the house (so what handling?) and it seems to be ripping me off with an unecessary fee on top of the vat.
Does that mean before they didn't care about my purchases but now they've caught on since I've been buying more?

I just got figma Satzbatz from Jungle for about 8840yen after shipping and their 5% fee.
They wrote '1500 yen' on the customs declaration sticker and marked it as a gift, those sneaky japs.

'+ fee' means additional charges like handling, warehouse and other stuff related to the package, along with some 'taxes' for paying our bureaucrats. Depending on the content, it could be 3 USD up to 10 USD.
Before the change, it was pretty easy to avoid paying taxes with small packages, and in the case something was catched by customs, I only needed to present an invoice and pick up my package, so between filling out the form and paying, it used to take an hour or so, it was pretty quick and easy.
But now that customs catch everything, you still can do that, but it could take up 3 hours or more, if I need to pick up something I'll have to lose half a workday for doing that. Fortunately for us, the postal service offers a PO box service that handles that for you, of course you have to pay, but for me it's cheaper paying for that than doing it myself.

If so, I feel really bad for the people who were looking forward to this release. Suction cup anon here, those nendoroid things seem a little expensive for what they are and they're kinda hard to come by.
Also I was under the impression the arms were extendable, but they don't seem to be. And the ones they come with look very short for making good flying/jumping poses.
I've decided to make my own (original design, donut steel) using a type of suction cup used in fish tanks, and a regular figma stand arm. The suction cups are only 2.5cm in diameter so they might not be strong enough to hold a figma when held on vertically, but it's worth a try. I'll post an update once I've got the parts arrive if anyone is interested.

I was looking at Amazon and eBay prices when I said this.
I've just realised they're only 450yen on AmiAmi, but factoring in shipping, it'll probably be closer to 1000yen.
And that's just for one stand, so my cost effective design is still viable (if it works).
It seems like this piece (circled in red) can split in two, so maybe you can swap in a full sized figma stand arm instead of using the little nendoroid one? Who knows. I'm still going to try making my own before ordering one of these.

I've done this before with those exact suction cups, and they're not strong enough to support the weight of a figure. The plastic is very flexible, so the Figma stand arm slips right out of the little claw (even if you distribute the weight among two or three suction cups). They do work nicely for holding effect parts, though. If you want to hold actual figures up, get those Nendoroid Plus suction cups

Is it the suction cups themselves that aren't strong enough or just the hook/claw?
I'm just thinking maybe if you applied some kind of glue it could make the claw more rigid? Or maybe even using some heat to fuse the gap closed so it has a better grip on the figma stand arm.
