Who knows what the odds are? TLG doesn't release production run numbers. There were 10,000 chrome Vaders, but probably hundreds of thousands of sets sent around the world.

So, I have really bad OCD, and I'm very picky about my builds. I always make sure the notches at the ends of the pins (circled in green) are oriented as shown in the instructions. I also go so far as to make sure that the little friction bumps on the blue pins (circled in red) are all facing the same way, even though neither of these things has any impact on the model. I even make sure that pieces with numbers on them have the numbers positioned as shown in the instructions.
Does anyone else do this, or am I just a fucking lunatic?

I didn't care in the past, but now that I'm slightly better at taking pictures, I usually try to make sure the parts are positioned so you can't see their mold marks in the shot. It doesn't work all the time, but I usually move pieces around when I notice them.

Never said they did in this case. I just posed that as an unlikely alternative to simply throwing them away. Why is the idea that these parts are donated so unpalatable that you support a more dramatic and unrealistic possibility?

Why make such a concession to recycle the cardboard, only to practically undo all that by destroying something that will require more oil to replace?
