Anyone else have a soft spot for these things?
>>5380586
I got a hard on for that Gonk if that's what you mean.
>tfw 6-7 years old and Star Wars Episode II is about to hit theaters
>birthday is coming soon
>putting the vacuum away in the closet after doing my chores when a box falls out of a bag
>it's a fucking sweet Star Wars Micro Machine playset that I really fucking wanted and realised it was for my birthday
>used to spend 15-20 minutes just looking at the box every day when my parents were out or asleep in anticipation of getting it for my birthday
>one day we go to my cousin's house who's one year my senior
>mum has always loved my cousin a lot and has said time and time again that she wish she gave birth to him instead
>she used to always say "why can't you be handsome like me or even your cousin? you're so ugly compared to us" when she looked like a whale
>realise my mum took a carrier bag with her to his house
>inside it was the Micro Machines playset from the closet which she ended up giving to my cousin
>I got nothing for my birthday
>felt dejected for weeks
>never brought it up because I didn't want to sound spoilt
And that's the story of why I grew up to hate Star Wars Micro Machines. Thanks for reading my blog, rate and subscribe for more.

I feel like I read this exact same story a couple days ago, but in another thread and with a different toy.
Is this mad lib pasta?
>>5380698
Nope, first time I've mentioned it. I only started browsing /toy/ like four days ago.
oh look another star wars thread
>>5380647
You should buy the set for yourself and be reminded of your childhood innocence and love for star wars. Don't let your cunt of a mother ruin that for you.
>>5380927
Get outta here Greg!
What are people's thoughts on the current Micro Machines toys? I never had any of the original ones, but I bought one of the new blind bags.
Tiny TIE Fighter is fun to play with.
>>5380586
I loved these things. That was actually one of my favorite sets.
>>5381036
It has a lot of potential. Some of the playsets don't resemble anything though (specifically R2 and the Millennium Falcon)
>>5381036
Most of them seem to be fine except the x-wings they are so much fail I dont even know.
>>5380698
I remember that too. Weird.
>>5381036
I wish the blindbags were a little cheaper considering you can just buy a 3 pack for $5.
>>5380586
I just found all of my Action Fleet stuff in the garage, and gave it to my son for Christmas.
Those ships are still some of the coolest star wars toys I've ever seen.
>>5381078
Isn't that the point, though? Multipacks always come out cheaper than singles, to maximize profit on the singles and to entice consumers to get the multis.
Ive bought a bunch of the new blindbags, have about 12 so far
>>5380586
i got pic related when i was a kid because it's my fav scene in the OT
too bad i never saw if they had a good sail barge or sarlacc that at least somewhat matched the scale
>>5381454
i loved this set
took it everywhere with me
my only complaints are that the plank swings out rather than extending
also no weequay
that nigga's the one who pushes luke off the skiff
Ioved them. Had that death star carry case and would add regular micro machines to the mix.
>>5380647
Nigga....
>>5381454
...aaaand while looking up that pic i found this
WTF
how have i not heard about these?
a scale sized skiff and really detailed figs with 10 articulation points?!
what set did this come from?!?!
>>5381545
forgot pic
shame they won't make anymore now that the movie is over
>>5381565
Actually they are just getting started
>>5380708
I see, well /new/fag, this isn't /r9k/ so put the copypasta blogs away.
>>5381545
These are 3.75" figures by Hasbro. Unless they released an exclusive set somewhere, then most of those figures are individual releases.
>>5381801
No.
They can be fun.
>>5381884
Indeed.
>>5380586
the fucking old ones are better than the new ones
i wanna get the little figs so bad
i saw 10 rebel pilots for 10$ on ebay
thats all
the rest is insane
shit the old ones are even articulated
point me in the right direction for these
>>5381454
They had a sail barge but it was way out of scale with the rest of them. It came with a Jabba figure that seems to be the same scale as the action fleet figures though.
>>5381559
Hasbro actually put out good figures maybe 5-10 years ago. Even better than their shitty black series.
>tfw lego minifigs now have better articulation
>>5382059
The articulated ones are the action fleet. Larger scale than the OG micro machines, and they were around $10-15 per vehicle IIRC. The vehicles actually came with 1-2 figures and a stand too.
>>5382059
>i saw 10 rebel pilots for 10$ on ebay
All I want is for troop-builder packs to make a comeback, I will buy every fucking one to do pic related.
I fuckin love them. I played with the original sets when i was a kid.
>>5380586
I have almost all of the new ones
>>5381559
Most of those look nice but the weathering on Han looks like he's been vomiting all over himself.
>>5382213
ill settle for non articulated like actionfleet
but dont make it like 2 guys for 15$
I had this one and the Action Fleet Death Star set. I miss my Death Star beyond words. This one, not as much. But mostly just because the figures included kinda sucked.
>>5382728
Well they do still exist. They just aren't as good anymore.
>>5382741
Sorta unrelated but every time I see Watto, I can't help but think of Taco Bell for some reason
>>5381559
>>5381545
>>5381454
>sarlacc
>>5382752
Back when Episode I was coming out they did a three-way toy line between Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut. Each restaurant got toys from one of the three main planets, and Taco Bell got Tatooine, so they had a few different Watto toys and a collectible cup topper.
>>5382787
I totally remember having some of those when I was little
>>5382768
>over 20 pounds of sar and lacc
So are the Titanium Series ships the same size as Action Fleet? I never had any Action Fleet ships, but I have a good dozen or so of the Titaniums and many of them seem to be even the same mold as some of the Action Fleet ships I've seen in pictures, just without minifigures.
Is it just me or are the old 90s Star Wars Micro Machines much better painted and even the plastic looks nicer?
>>5382936
Honestly, the old ones don't have as crisp a sculpt. Are all made from the same plastic then painted and thus have the potential to rub off, especially on all the edges.
I wish the newer ones weren't so light on the paint apps, but nothing a custom paint wash and a steady hand can't fix.
>>5382936
This is all going off 15+ year old memories, but sorta? I got one of the new multi packs and while the TIEs only had a little bowing in the wings, the x-wings were some pretty sad stuff, all the lasers and wings were warped to hell and back. I had maybe a half a dozen of the original x-wings and I only remember one of them having any warping at all. The y-wings and a-wings were practically bricks.
The actual paint on the new ones I've handled is actually decent though. Maybe not as nice as the 90's stuff, but it's alright considering how small they are. Some paint like the grey-on-black for the TIE's cockpit is actually impressive, it's so clean.
>was 7
>on ventalator because of shitty lung pnemonia.
>was wide awake most of the time for part of the time.
>played with those star wars micro machines on the shitty dinner platform tables hospitals had while my mother read star wars stuff to me.
>docs didnt know if i would be able to breath again.
>proved them wrong.
>recently found a old micro machines stormtrooper in a box in my room.
What playsets would you like to see get made?
>>5382950
>>5383003
>>5383004
I found a buncha old ones in a bag at a thrift store last year.
Then I saw these new ones and they just looked cheaper, almost like bootlegs with the plastic not looking right.
Not to mention ones I had dug out. Hell. I knocked over a bunch I had in a shallow bin while cleaning my room over Christmas. Actually had my Star Trek and Star Wars ones together.
The Action Fleet was my absolute favorite toy line for a long time. I collected them while the special editions were in theaters and only stopped after Episode I and was so let down by it.
I wish I still had the Tie Interceptor.
>>5383481
action fleet is fucking timeless
2bad they dont make anymore
it really pisses me off that miniatures will never be a thing again because our society coddles retards
Greg please get out of this fucking thread already!
>>5382787
>tfw the closest we got to fastfood toys for TFA was subway's shitty bags
it really was the only toys i was looking forward to for this movie
>>5382432
Damn all them exclusives
>>5383062
good for you, anon
i used to have reactive airway disease that got worse at night
(for a few years chocolate ice cream triggered it)
the breathing apparatus i had kinda looked like buzz's spaceship in toy story lol
>>5383859
because if you pull that off i'd die
>>5382432
yeah, like I'd spend sixty fuckibg dollars on that
maybe if they were proper diecast ones with transparent plastic windscreens
>>5382768
well that answers where 3 of those figs came from
any clue what line (and year i guess) are the others in the first pic?
My Brother and I had almost all the action fleet stuff as a kid. We didn't have a lot of money so we collected Action Fleet as a cheap way to get both the figures and the ships and because at that scale your bed was the perfect sized Star Destroyer. What was awesome was they made Starship Troopers stuff at the same scale so we had a bunch of bugs and War Planets to fight everybody. I also remember when the Episode 1 shit went on super clearance I was able to get all of the deluxe playsets for 20 bucks.
>>5382936
Can confirm. I've had the B-Wing and Executor in hand from both generations and the old ones are superior. Heavier, more detailed sculpt and more realistic paint.
the only thing i dont really like about action fleets is the inaccuarcy in the scaling. Like, the AT-AT is waaaay to tiny and the Snow Speeder WAAAY to big.
also the Millenium falcon is supposed to be way bigger than the x-wing.
>>5383788
Only the TIE Phantom and some of the character figures are exclusives I think
Which is a shame because I almost have 2/3ds of what comes in that box
But I want the Phantom...
>>5384361
They're also pretty inaccurate model-wise.
Right now the hot shit is either the easykit Revell models, new Micromachines or the X-wing miniatures for good models
>>5384239
>>5382712
>>5382698
Goddam we'll never get anything like this for the force awakens
It doesnt help that the movie movie didnt really produce any interesting new designs. The x wings were just recycled mcquarrie designs
the prequels were terrible films but they had some interesting designs. TFA feels kind of like a budget star wars imitation next to it and the original trilogy. I mean i enjoyed the movie, characters and story were alright but visually it felt pretty lacking. There was nothing memorable about any of the planets either. and i mean sure previously we just had desert planet, ice planet, forest planet, but they all had quirks that made them feel different/more alien. That planet luke was on at the end of TFA was obviously just some place in Ireland or somewhere, i wouldnt be surprised to see hikers in the background
>>5384042
Well I hate to burst your bubble but the diecast Titanium ships (which are a totally different thing, mind you) are like 5 bucks a pop so no, you wouldn't pay 60 bucks for over 20 of them either.
I have Hoth\Yavin\DeathStar BEAST playsets, loads of vehicles and even a droid pack with loads of droids from the sandcrawler.
Got an MTT which folder out into Naboo battlefields.
>>5380586
I wish I had a soft spot for them, but the minis are often painted so poorly, or the ships have warped plastic that it really takes away from the coolness factor. I understand they are tiny, so maybe expecting better is a waste of time. As it stands, I don't have the urge to buy any.
>>5384583
All I want is a Kylo Ren Command Shuttle that isn't grey for no reason and maybe also I can open the cockpit and stick a tiny Kylo Ren and some troopers inside. Even the Lego set doesn't get the colors or the wings right.
>>5384361
But the Action Fleet Snowspeeder looks great when you have it with a large AT-AT
>>5382936
Just you, the new ones have more detail, are more accurate and are better painted
>>5382798
Shit, I have this C3PO head playset with no face and no figures, but the chair-flipper still works
>>5382680
I'd gladly pay $12 for pic related to come out again
>>5384239
>>Action Fleet as a cheap way to get both the figures and the ships and because at that scale your bed was the perfect sized Star Destroyer
and the pillows became the bridge tower, holy shit are you me?
>tfw they will never make full fledged toy of this scale again because parents are retards
>tfw no face
>>5385267
Hah. I'm assuming you know of course that under the bed was naturally the hanger.
Also did anybody get any of these? The bugs were the hypest shit to play with, with the Star Wars Action Fleet stuff. I also remember Transmetal Beast Wars toys being fucking terrifying at that scale.
>>5380586
This things were easy to get hooked to back in the day.
>>5386681
>>5386683
>>5386690
>>5384359
When I first saw them in store I figured they were using the old molds and they had just degraded.
It's a pity the Star Wars Transformers ranged from Average to yuck.
>>5386783
Only transformed it once just cuz, ARC Troopers gunship is best Lucasformer.
>>5380586
Just got that set in the mail today. It's a lot of fun
>>5386794
where the hell was that? It looks rad
>never picked up any of these when they were in stores
>>5391696
Superior Death Star incoming
>>5391721
I got it at TRU back when they were new, I almost got the Venator cuz I'm into capital ships but it didn't feel worth it in the end.
I got the Titanium series version for a steal (not literally heh).
>>5391732
fucking loved that thing as a kid.
>>5382708
wow they actually made this....i kind of want it
tfw i have ALL action fleets and playsets in the basement, but really, REALLY dusty and even with tons of dead spiders in it. not kidding.
but this thread makes me want to clean them up. but ewww.. the spiders, man..
>>5392258
i would give you literally a lot of my money for that collection.
>>5382712
I bought this on a garage sale. Cost me 50 euro cents. (I live in The Netherlands)
If they do bring back Action Fleet, what vehicles would you like to see them make?
>tfw my parents bought me most of the original actionfleet and I destroyed them because I was a tiny child
>>5392258
I'm only missing a couple items to have the entire Action Fleet collection, just haven't been able to find a couple of them at somewhat reasonable prices.
>>5396336
How much we talking, because I'm not him but have a very large collection also collecting spiders in a dusty basement. Have a ton of the Micro Machines and a decent amount of action fleet (mostly based around the hoth playset and death star set)
I used to own a whole bunch of them. The only one I still have is an Action Fleet Slave I in Boba's colors. They were neat, solid spaceship toys.
>>5392258
some of them like the tie defender are pretty damn expensive
must make a petition to bring back Action Fleet.
