HAM ON THE BONE!
A little something I just can't leave alone~
Why Lego? Why new sets at my brokest time of the year?
Post Lego-themed comics, please
Quintuple anon needs to be celebrated

>>Benis (Best Entry: Ninjas in Swimwear)
Sorry guys it was top votes, I just had to turn it into something on the fly.
I picked up this thing today. Having Crimson Skies flashbacks, send help
>>5377807
Shoulda bought lotto tickets. Instead, here I am, with quint-7's on /toy/
>>5377811
>mfw I have an edge in this challenge
>>5377790
I feel ya, friendo.
Lego always makes sure to release the sets after the holidays, and after your wallet is dry as my humor.
I'm probably only going to pick up the little 30$ one. The "batwing" or whatever that garbage is in the bigger set looks like shit. And the little Lexcopter isn't much to look at. Figures will probably be bricklinked.
>>5377817
Just how big is that brick in the background?
>>5377825
god i hate how kids will only buy bat crap
>>5377807
>>5377825
Did they just completely fuck up the batmobile and batwing designs?
>>5377835
Wake me up inside.
>>5377840
>It's a battle pack tier set with 2 figures
>Not even a good design of one
Oh vey
>>5377840
I don't collect superhero stuff but if that bat signal had been a normal shape logo I would have picked it up just to put it on top of my police station.
>>5377825
This selling point is golden.
>>5377811
good thing my bricklinked pantsu etc. are in shipping bricklink hell right now
>>5377817
haha classic

>>5377840
>the top of the skyscraper from the first teaser
>Batsignal
>armor Batman with grappling gun piece
>Kryptonite crystals and gun
>two translucent antennae for Superman to blast out of his eyes
That's pretty good.
are there any decent ways to melt down and remold lego grade ABS?
>>5377857
my favorite part of the teaser was the lime green kryptonite crate
cant leave the batcave without it
>>5377840
but it's at your local whale mart RIGHT NOW
>>5377860
Were you expecting a Batman vs Superman fight -without- Kryptonite?
Tbh this looks pretty neat.

>>5377880
best new cape set out right now, are you high?
>>5377815
Well I didn't want that set, but I do now. Thanks Anon.
>>5377864
I can't see that cell as anything other than a portapotty.
>>5377880
seconded, that jet is fucking ugly.
>>5377885
You're very welcome! Mine's very modified but the standard build can hold a minifig, and there's plenty of space to add guns/missiles/whatever.
Retractable landing gear was a nice surprise.
post your biggest bricks itt
>>5377880
I like that set a lot. Surprisingly accurate to the source, and good fig selection.
The Marvel sets this wave are really good. Knowing that kids will want their Tony and Steve because of the new movie, the designers chose to only release one MCU Iron Man, and instead have Cap and the buckethead be in the comic/cartoon sets. And even then they chose to put out neat variants, such as the Space and Scuba armors.
>>5377894
Can't take you seriously if you use "lol"
You must be 18 or older to use the 4chans
>>5377909
I can only dislike it for the jet, nothing more, nothing less.
>>5377910
Yes. Mature adults on 4chan only use the preapproved and more appropriate 'lel' and 'kek' when expressing glee or recognition of humor.
The new battle of Takodana set seems kind of steep for such a minimalist set but it might look pretty cool with the command shuttle next to it and >muh unmasked kylo ren
>>5377894
cape sets have always been shit Tbh, literally the only reason they exist is for minifig autists, like star wars but without good subject matter to draw from. When they're not focussing on cape movies it just becomes a game of "what obscure character can we find a reason to pack in with batman or spiderman, fuck what the set looks like"
>>5377923
The old Spider-Man and Batman runs had a few neat sets, but the modern superhero stuff does have this really weird focus on vehicle/small setpiece combos rather than any interesting stuff.
>>5377923
the quinjet is actually a 1:1 comics quinjet tho
>>5377928
>really weird focus
>really weird
kids like vehicles above all else
>>5377918
it is stupidly expensive, even at the target price of $50 (I don't expect that to last long seeing as it still has the placeholder name on the shelves) it's hardly worth it. Don't get me wrong, it's actually a nice build in hand and it has great minifigs but I don't know what they were thinking with that price.
Never mind, they were thinking what they always do, people will buy it for the minifigs.
>>5377930
Doesn't mean it doesn't look like shit.
>>5377859
>look it up
>needs to be at least 450 degrees F
>then again, not sure if it will burn plastic anyway

>>5377938
It was 60 at my store but maybe it was a misprint. I wouldn't have any interest in it unless I planned to get the shuttle too so they can complement each other. Couldn't give less of a fun about the man katana minifig

>>5378043
I hate how everyone looks bored or concerned.
>>5377975
Holy shit.
That's almost boner inducing.
>>5377596
IMO the 2007 version was about as good (it looked better, but couldn't roll up). Every droideka after that has been crap, though.
>>5378071
They would've been so much better off with basic minifig heads instead of the giant mascot heads they ended up with. Those designs really don't translate well into 3D.
>>5378062
I never knew the box could be bigger in every dimension than the set inside.
>>5378081
Especially since the Simpsons themselves used round heads in the Lego episode.
>>5378081
Forgot my picture. I mean they literally had designs in the show itself, so why they went for those are beyond me.
>>5378043
>tfw you will never own a proper minifig scale simpsons house with a fully layed out interior

>>5378079
This one? Eh, I really don't think it's possible to be better than the OG in mini fig scale
>>5378060
Maybe wait on reviews and pick up just the stuff you really like the look of.
I love all 3 that I picked up. And the King's Mech is probably one of the most surprisingly awesome sets I've gotten in along time.

>>5377868
>>5377871
I did!
Sweet as usual.
One thing I do notice though is that you sometimes make really lanky forearms. I get it usually comes from adding articulation or avoiding studs, but it's why I usually just use 1x4 hinge plates for elbows. They can be rather easily extended, too, with their only main disadvantage being how they have studs on top, though there can be some ways to rectify this.
If you're willing to sacrifice some hand LDD functionality and poseability you can get a different, if slightly smoother looking wrist ala Lingonkart's Squid Sister MOCs. I usually don't use it because I don't have a problem with the exposed studs.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/lingonkart/20824227944
Still think you should build the team sometime.
Still waiting on Bricklink shipping over here.

You Aussies really do get shafted on pretty much everything, don't you?
Massive censorship, horrible import costs, wildlife which has achieved meme status, the list goes on.
>>5378180
They have some hot chicks and topless beaches though
>>5377923
I don't agree. A lot of cape sets were dope. First wave avengers quinjet and loki escape. Deadpool helicopter. And the big man of steel set was cool. Also arkham was awesome.
>>5377973
Figure it out yourself it's not that hard. The important pieces are the ones you can see from that picture and the rest is just structural Shit that isn't hard to figure out.
>>5378160
How does ghost busters have such a hardcore fanbase? It's not like capeshit or star Wars where there is shit-tons of content to waste money on. Does she just watch the two movies over and over inbetween the old tv show?
>>5378171
Did you go through with it?
>>5378176

>>5378190

>>5378180
Depends where you buy from, local postage is alright, shit from china is almost always shipped free. It's just America where the postage on everything is like $30 even if it's just a paper clip you're buying.
We have a decent amount of stores, I'm just looking for a lot of technic which comes after regular lego in most BL stores.
>>5377975
...The wing piece comes in orange? Now I regret this.
>>5378192
I'm still debating. There's a lot of factors to consider.
>How long until this thing sells out
>If I choose to sell my shit, how long until I can convert it to cash
>I can dedicate this to one day, but I need money, which is scarce
>How easy the Lego Store employees will think I'm some desperate neckbeard.
Of course, I can just say that I'd like to build a Nexo Knight display and see if they'd let me get away with making multiple purchases, but still....
>>5378224
>Have you tried using the Wanted List feature
I'm already using Brickficiency to whittle them down
>>5378224
I have a job. I don't get paid until the 15th, but by that time, the grunt promo is over.
>>5378190
There's an ongoing comic book series with several completed arcs and storylines.
I mean don't get me wrong I ask her the same thing all the time, but they find a way.
>>5378231
If you're employed I don't think it'd at all be concerning to buy what you'd like. Payment does sound like trouble though, good luck.
>>5378208
Try UK, German stores. Seems that the stronger euro economies have cheaper postage. Don't think i've ordered anything from france.
>>5378231
Maybe you shouldn't waste your monies on lego every chance you get
Just got back from buying and building the Snowspeeder microfighter, Ultimate Lavaria and Battle on Takodana.
As a vignette Battle on Takodana is good, I'm not too keen on the $60 price tag but you get fucking Finn, Kylo Ren, TRAITOR, Maz, and another Stormie. Plus spare lightsaber hilts for both characters.
I'm primarily a collector / display guy so it feels really nice to set it up on my desk.
Lavaria is awesome (gonna need to get her a hair piece) and the snowspeeder is adorable next to my full-scale one.
>>5378386
Good thing about Star Wars LEGO is that it's frequently 20-30% off online when it's still in print.
Frankly you could probably buy multiples and get almost the entire cost back by selling the minifigs.
>>5378398
Especially Maz, I think, there probably won't be many more (or any more) sets with her in it, unless she somehow becomes a Yoda figure in VIII and IX but we already have Luke for that so...
>>5378107
I bought the newest N1 a little while ago and made this custom droideka since the official ones look pretty bad. Tried making it as accurate as I could. It's a bit large but I think it works. Thoughts?
>>5378386

>>5378425
>seriously, them being that loose annoyed me much more than it should have
Yeah... I sort of wedged them into their thing so they don't fall out.
The swap out powers range from really cool (Macy's Phoenix Fire, for example, and Lavaria's crossbow) to really lame (Lavaria's snakes, Clay's forcefield).

>>5378070
I don't need this... I don't need this..........
>>5378085
The sculpted heads are more in line with Simpsons toys. I really like them.
>>5378160
I was hoping for more. Super disappoint at how they dropped the ball with the hair sculpts because of Muh Ideas sets.
I'll be getting all the Lego dimensions figs and in reaaaaaally want the HQ but only if it was hollow as I don't really care for the play house aspect of these sets.
I would have loved it as a kid.
Also here is my haul for the month.
First of all, fuck these fleshies and death to all fleshies. The Snow Trooper is cool by why in the fuck don't they make the heads black?
Pisses me off.
>>5378485

I've been thinking about the Trevi Fountain and the Venice skyline lately, too. The New York one is cool but pretty expensive for a display piece.
>>5378475

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Go to ali express. Look up "CITY OF STIIX NINJAGO WHITE MAN NINJA KILL AMERICA".
Get the same set for about $100 US FUNBUX with free shipping and 59 day shipping TIME. Sure, the set doesnt have LEGO printed on every stud, but same thing, same factory.

>>5378487
Yeah I want the New York but it's pretty expensive for the size.
The first order Snow Speeder is a nice heavy build. The set also came with an extra back pack holder thing and printed piece.
Also flat iron building looks cool and that Louvre museum.
Trevi is heavy as fuck and 731 pieces for $50 isn't too bad in my opinion.
Also-Also, thinking of getting a Mystery Machine before they go out of print. I can't believe the DeLorean is so expensive now.

When was the last one released? Lego usually repeats every four years.
As an Australian, my most recent regret is not buying the new Star Wars wave when I saw them pop up on the official Lego store. They're sold out on the online shop now and are apparently staggered releases (that haven't even started coming out yet) in stores.
>>5378563

no it's too early in the morning and i have to go to work fuck everything
okay so
there's too much detail and it's inconsistent
the various small little curves/lines/creases you used to define the mouth, bridge of the nose, cheek crease etcetera say 'old woman' instead of however old macy is supposed to be
you want to keep many of these details implied, lines smooth and clean to convey a fresh-faced look, the eyelashes and mouth emphasized to convey femininity
most of all study structure, macy's head is too small for the face and the faces map onto the heads kind of off
hands too, they're as expressive/important as the face
I recommend Burne Hogarth books

Ghostbusters was the brainchild of 4 SNL comedians who helped diversify the script and not make it stale, the cartoon and susequent sequel and the new feminism reboot just shows how bazinga enccentric it got because of the commercial appeal America favours. DELETE THIS
>>5378760
Except, SNL of the 80s and 90s was way more clever than it is today. And Ghostbusters 2 wasn't as well received as the first movie. But at the same time, they kind of knew their limits, and even sort of lampooned themselves much in the way Gremlins 2 did because they knew it could never live up to the original, so they poked fun at themselves instead which ended up working.
But modern pop culture isn't nearly as clever, witty, or thoughtful as anything that came out 30, 20, even 10 years ago. It's all about culling through Reddit, twitter, and tumblr for the hottest memes of the week, and just infusing them into your hip "lol so nerdy" show.
No one will remember TBBT in 30 years, like people remember Ghostbusters now. Hell, in 30 years, people will probably still consider Ghostbusters a classic.
>>5378768
>why the fuck would you call yourself a nerd, ever

This post made me euphoric, bazinga.
>>5378768
>why the fuck would you call yourself a nerd, ever
>why would anyone know what this specific term means and call himself by that term?
Are you mental?
>>5378771
People will be too busy remaking Ghostbusters with an all female cast until people regard that as the true classic.
>>5378775
>tips stud
>>5378779
You're literally such a nerd anon, bazinga! :^)
>>5378769
He's stopped saying it almost entirely in the later seasons. Based on Anon mentioning Sheldon having a girlfriend, he's almost certainly only seen episodes post-peak Bazinga.
>>5378742
>Bazinga culture
I should smack you.
>>5378784
You think lego would release a print of this on a torso as a NYCC exclusive, seeing how commercial con is the epitome of bazingha nerdy culture? :^)
>>5378150
I think he meant existing fans will explode in anger.
>>5378793
:^)))
i like your quirky humour anon! B^D
So what do you guys expect the new A-Wing to be like?
>>5378795
why wouldn't fans of a classic enjoy a reboot thats lampooning and a different take of such a common theme of 4 average dues replaced with women, especially when theres a funny dance off at the end? :^)
>>5378692
I think Fangar's sword has to be my favorite brick-built weapon in a set.
>>5378805
in the shape of two Js
I'm very tempted to try and get this, but if I do, it means I have no money for Star Wars stuff or Nexo Knights stuff, and I'm too poor to go one-up and get the Detective Office.
What should I do /lg/?
>>5378171
>Free with any purchase
Where?
>>5378819
Obviously forgot my fucking picture because I'm an idiot.
The Brick Bank. I'm very tempted to get the Brick Bank.
>>5378819
Lego website and ground stores.
>>5378822
Save some money on the side and get it a few months down the line, maybe during a VIP double-points month.
Modulars are gonna stay on shelves for at least the entire year of their release. You can wait for that one.
>>5378208
I find 44 Bricks is pretty good for technic (they are in Germany, but shipping is reasonable to Australia in my experience)
>>5378822
i really want to get it (or that detective building) but it probably costs a shit ton of money so i wont.
>>5378834
I don't understand. If you don't mind the design, how come you complain about its grey boxiness?
>>5378837
I would prefer a different coloured box on occasion.
>>5378837
>I don't understand. If you don't mind the design, how come you complain about its grey boxiness?
may be because shape design and color choice are 2 different things?
>>5378839
How many vehicles are there in TFA that actually look like grey boxes? I'm so confused.
>>5378844
Not him but the transport, snowspeeder and Kylo Ren shuttle are all grey boxes, the Falcon too but that doesn't really count
>>5378844
Keep in mind these are the same people that complain that Lego makes X-Wings white instead of grey.
They both love and hate grey.
Also four of the TFA sets are loads of grey pieces. The Falcon, Kylo Ren's shuttle, the troop transport, and the snow speeder.
>>5378844
i dont know really sinse i dont follow it. But the stuff they promoting (like this thing. in our toy store this thing stands under the glass and with lights and shit like its a HYPE! thing...but its so boring looking. I mean look at this! literally a "grey block that goes "pew pew")
>>5378844
First order Snowspeeder, First Order Transporter, Resistance Troop Transport, Kylo Ren's ship is a slightly darker grey box with wings.
>>5378847
>Keep in mind these are the same people that complain that Lego makes X-Wings white instead of grey.
>They both love and hate grey.
i dunno what are you talking about. Im not a SW fan and im saying just about what i see.
Also the only SW lego i have is this: >>5377973
yellow "starship" (original not custom of course)
>>5378851
Also the Turbo Tank this summer, the greyest and boxiest at of them all.
http://strawpoll.me/6283835
>>5378854
Ah, okay. I've seen a lot of Star Wars Lego fans get frothing-at-the-mouth angry at white X-wings.
>>5378847
Literally never heard anyone complain about that while I have heard plenty of people complain about all the grey.
Also the new Millennium Falcon set, though I guess a new paint job would have thrown the classic look and upset the fans more.
I'm not ready for the new Death Star UCS
http://brickset.com/sets/75159-1/The-Death-Star
>>5378859
Eh, in the EU Han ended up painting it all emo black after Chewie died.
>>5378858
id love to have an X-wing because its one of my favorite sw ships but it will take some space and i already dont have so much. Same about AT-AT (even if its grey kek)
>>5378863
>not released
>not even an image of it
>5 people own this set
What.
>>5378858
It just doesn't look right, the x wing in the movies is lighter than Lego light grey but only barely. If they had gone all out and made the new UCS version very light grey I actually would have bought it
>>5378863
If that doesn't end up being Starkiller Base I'm going to be disappointed.
>>5378868
They don't have to see it or know a price or anything for it to be a day one buy so they just mark it as they have it.
>>5378859
see
>>5378869
>>5378873
>yellow
that reminded me another reason of why i avoid SW and other licensed stuff with fee exceptions.
Their white/black skin really limits use of those minifig parts. All my white skinned heads left in trash place where they will never be taken from.
tBh, Star Wars in Lego form is asking for blocky gray vehicles. I used to collect the regular figures when Lego SW first came out, and the idea was nice and all, but it looked so much nicer in action figure and vehicle form than Lego that I never got on board with it, plus I didn't want to have to collect the same stuff again.
>>5378876
I'm actually kinda sad that Lego City stuff is yellow-skinned, because it means I can never get into it because Lego Star Wars comes with normal skinned people.
>>5378880
>I'm actually kinda sad that Lego City stuff is yellow-skinned, because it means I can never get into it because Lego Star Wars comes with normal skinned people.
>ignoring other lego worlds like castle or underwater etc. with yellow skin
I think Star Wars wasn't the priority in lego at all. Yellow faces are the true race.
White is minority.
oh wait that sounds funny as hell.
>>5377787
holy shit
>>5378886
Yeah, I know I was ignoring a lot of the other themes and I'm still kinda hoping to sometimes buy a lego castle and pirate ship, it's just that the most modern themes don't look as awesome as the 80s and 90s sets, especially those that I had when I was a kid. As an "adult" collector I'm most interested in Star Wars lego.
>>5378879
>tBh, Star Wars in Lego form is asking for blocky gray vehicles.
i think that's the main reason of why people complaining.
Lego fans tend to build shit that colored like picrelated.
If you are lego builder, not collector of sets, then its obviously there will be the time when you add some new parts to built set or even re-build it or mix it with other stuff.
Lego Star Wars with its grey blocks REALLY limits creativity. What are you gonna do with a bunch of grey blocks from this: >>5378850
>>5378847
My lego stuff dont look that grey so there is noth that much i can do with it. May be will build a...i dunno...prison. Or use them in some "ruins" as "bricks".
>>5378894
>Or use them in some "ruins" as "bricks".
also there comes other bad thing about lego SW - it's too expensive for use it just for parts like we do with City/Chima/etc.
Which means i will be buying SW sets only for fun looking stormtrooper minifigures, R2D2, other droids and weapons.
>>5378891
I get this, I mean nexo knights is nifty and all but I'm sort of sad we'll never get another basic low fantasy castle or ninja theme, or a modern take on classic space.
>>5377807
Lego challenge 7777.
>>5378904
angry birds is coming with an excellent low fantasy castle
Which Lego Slave 1 is the best aside from the UCS?
>>5378894
Gray blocks for me are a god-send because I'm partly colour blind and I fucking hate mixing them up with each other. Plus I love ships that are gray or white with a colour accent like most ships in Star Wars.
>Empire and First Order have monochromatic officers
>why arent the ships purple??
>>5378563
>Anakin's Podracer
Aw yiss, but new Mos Espa Podrace set when? Gotta get me that Gasgano.
>six more buildable figures
I don't like the figures at all (nothing wrong with 'em, just don't like 'em), but that's actually a good thing because it essentially halves the number of sets I "need" to get.
>>5378580
>>5378586
Last Turbo Tank set was in 2010, and the first was in 2005. If anything, we're overdue for a new one.
>>5378850
The Snowspeeder is an especially egregious example given how its only scene was cut from the final film. We see it for half a second as Rey and Finn go through a door.
>>5378869
There is another color between white and light bley, called "LtStone" (light bley is actually "MdStone"). It's on Thok the Piraka and the first Mindstorms NXT set and maybe some other sets from that same time.
>>5378909
I'd say 8097 is the best non-UCS, but if you don't like pupiled minifigures, 6209 is good too.
>>5378911
...What?
>>5378911
whut...
wait what? i was looking for non grey sets and found this in the internet store with other new SW sets.
i didnt see the movie yet. does it has gungans? this one looks so specific like its a character.
I dont have anything against gungans i even like them. Too bad i dont like that much of green but i woudn't mind this gungan and that gay looking driver lol
