Hello /toy/!
Newbie collector here. I was walking around my local Walmart/Kmart/Toys-r-us looking for something that caught my eye just to add to my small and pitiful collection when I thought of something. I thought, "Whats the craziest thing someone has ever done for a /toy/ they wanted?". Since none of my friends collect, I bring the question to you. Now this question is very broad and generic, I know, but interesting nonetheless. This could be when you grabbed something from a kid that you knew would destroy it, bought something instead of paying a bill, or camped in line for a day to be the first to have it, whatever you consider crazy. Since I'm not a hardcore collector sadly I don't have a crazy story to tell but I would like to hear yours! Also, pics of your collections would be awesome to see as well!
I spent almost $90 on a Bandai GMK Godzilla that had paint scuffs and no tag because I didn't feel like looking for one on eBay.

i spent 500$ on a haruhi figma set and 500$ on a k-on figma set back in 2009 when I was 18
I regretted it, so to redeem myself from looking like a pussy, I bought the whole fucking set, and I'm talking whole fucking set of Gokaiger figuarts and Shinkenger.
When I feel a little more like a dude finally, I realized I'm still childish.
So I've chilled on the huge purchases.
Then I realized I spent a lot on toys over the course of the years without knowing, Lego, MB, etc
Fuck this hobby, The past 6 months though I have only gotten some Star Wars shit and I don't feel like such a bitch.
Only thing that comes to mind is that one time I camped out all night for WonFes during the winter of '14 the day after the heaviest snowfall in decades hit Tokyo.

I bought a R.O.B. and powerglove from US and got hit with a massive customs fee despite it being labeled as a gift.
Since then I've always been nervous/scared when buying from any country that isn't in EU.

Bought this dude for about 250. No regrets, still my favorite figure to this day. The fucking Croc Cap is incredible

Spent $500 on Play Arts Kai Quiet. By no means worth the price, but I love the character and wanted something based on her.
Last year was $360 on Medicom RAH Annie Leonhart. Same deal.
I went a whole year with only a purchase here 'n there, only to go crazy near the end.

Masterpiece megatron mp05 was my craziest, doesn't sound like much until you look into my country and its legal history with guns.
Here in Australia many states consider it a replica firearm despite being fuck huge compared to the real thing, I didn't know this until he arrived in my hands, was lucky because in my state he doesn't count as a replica firearm but rather a prohibited item, meaning he could of been destroyed rather than me chase up a gun license and keep him in a gun locker like other states allow.
The crazy part comes in the fact I wanted him, despite the fact third parties already surpassing him, but I knew he wasn't worth the $500+ some local sellers have him going for (scalpers that got their ones past customs) so I opted for an ebay auction of one with a bad case of rust for $120aud
JUST the feet, a known issue, one that can be fixed but I have yet to, for the sad thing is once he came in I had no room for him anywhere (over estimated how big he fucking was), so he sits in his box in the back of a cupboard until the day I can transform him once, into his gun mode and display him quietly somewhere...
I'm still waiting on an official remake but I shan't hold my breathe

When I was six I blew £100 on a single Lego set. It was pretty much all the money I had at the time, plus that's more like £150 in today's money
I guess the craziest thing I've done for a toy would be gambling on a BST listing. MP Convoy for $100 shipped. Fully expected a box full of spiders.
