The go to answer is General Grievous.

But I want to see live actor characters (not wearing masks) be made by Kaiyodo, since they do have talented sculptors.

What would be awesome, are Clone Wars/Rebels Revos sculpted by Yamaguchi. The style of the cartoon and action heavy nature of certain characters would be an ideal team-up.

I like this. It makes me want to buy their toys more.

Considering a Stormtrooper after getting a Black Series First Order and being generall disappointed. Want to have the Revo Trooper beating the shit out of it.

Yes, but it suffers from that early-revoltech, gummy glossy plastic that leaks plasticizer if it's in a hot/humid condition. Try not to buy from someone in the tropics.

The figure it self is pretty good. The posable hair pieces hat, and cape gives it a wide range of posing options. It suffers only in the option parts department compared to later QB Revos or your generic figma. Like one more face part would've been nice.

I made this catalog(?) based on what was still available on HLJ, and what was relatively cheap on Amazon.com. I assume AmiAmi have a bunch of these too.

HLJ has a Christmas sale right now even for some Kaiyodo products, so you could chose from there.

I got a Revoltech Stormtrooper, it was a disaster. Ended up getting a refund, but I got to keep the toy. I've mostly repaired it, I just need to get a couple spare revojoints and I'll be all set. I swear it had been superglued together, the joints were so stuck. Never ever had that happen with a Revoltech before. The paint was also awful, really spotty.

>>
>>5348029
Bullshit, you probably ordered a knockoff
>>
>>5348042
I'm not thinking that was the case (unless there's lots of KO Revotroopers going around I don't know about), I think the seller just had a used toy listed as a new toy, and the person who had it before was a fucking retard, or possibly evil.
>>
>>5348048
There are plenty of KO Revo troopers available. If you ordered it off ebay for less than 40 USD, or there was no starry backdrop in behind the figure in box, then it was a knockoff.
>>
>>5348051
I've got a swirly starry background, but I suspect I've been knocked off anyways, that makes a whole lot of sense.

... still, he was eventually free, and I've already stolen his hands to give my Mara Jade custom better hands (shame they can't hold a lightsaber, but you can't get everything on the first try), so I'm not too mad about it at this point.

Only pic I have of her. Basically, Marvel Legends Hope Summers plus the spare stormtrooper belt from Black Series Solo, plus an old silk drawstring to serve as a sash, plus the lightsaber bits from an old Darth Maul Unleashed statue, plus (not pictured) Revoltech Stormtrooper's hand selection.

Still a work in progress, I might do a bit of heat treatment to warp the open hands closed enough to hold her lightsaber, or I might make a new lightsaber that can fit into the gun hand... not sure about that option, though. Also, always on the lookout for a better body mold or a real fabric cloak, even though I'm basically satisfied with how this one looks. This is her Emperor's Hand spy catsuit days, after all.

Nah man, I'm a Malaysiafag, we're just having our local yearly weeaboo convention this weekend. smells like shit once you got it ouf the box. mine's torso was inverted and stuck, still managed to take it off, though, now he looks better than what he looked at first, but seeing in detail, it looks like the original trooper had the same type of torso articulation as raiden, something that my fake trooper doesn't, can anyone confirm if i'm right?

> I'd imagine loose joints wouldn't really be a problem because you could just swap them out
yeah, swaping them can "fix" the figure, the problem is that the fake joints can get stuck, so you will have to snap them and then drill them: the shoulders's elbow and knees in mine were stuck, luckily the wrist, neck, torso, hips and ankles aren't, and i think all of them but the latter are decent.
in other words, it's too much work for what you can simply get the real one.
if you still want to do it, keep in mind that you will need a drill and the spare joints and some spare time to do these modfications.
also there's a chance you will get a pair of same hands

Huh, I was wrong about where the ball joints are on Ultron. I thought they were at the thigh joints but nope, hip uses regular Revo joints.

The elbows uses the new special joints. The ball joint ends are at the lower arm side. You see a little bit of empty space there.

Makes sense since it seemed unlikely the ball joint could hold the weight of the entire leg.

Venome Snake should have these special joints pair too but don't seem to be the elbows...maybe shoulders?

The jaw can move forward and backward and often his tongue will just fall out after opening the mouth wide enough. That piece is kept hooked to the joint inside but since you can easily remove it I feared on losing that one day if I wasn't paying attention while opening the mouth.

As for size he's good but he's like a pet monster when compared to the current revo Hunters.

I never dealt with monster or animal based figures before but his articulation to me is pretty solid all around. I got around replicating some of his moves from the games and any random poses I can think of for this sort of design.

Paint is great and overall he's a pretty good MH figure. Might buy the rest just to have as desk toys for other figures.

Honestly, there's a ton of variation in how revoltechs are jointed, even within the same line. Eva 08 was great, but I couldn't stand the hips and shoulders on the most recent 01. Honestly though, I know what to look for in pictures by now and he should be fine. The shoulders look kinda janky but that's seeming like just a visual thing.

It looks like it will be similar to Raiden/Stormtrooper/Boba, which are the common Revoltechs non-enthusiast tend to grab as their first Revo. I don't think people complained about posing them that much, so I think it would be fine.

Personally I was amazed how many accepted the Mass Production Eva when it had the cut joints hip.

It's weird, but the hips on the MP are actually pretty functional, and some of my favorites among revoltechs. They look stupid as hell in use, but they can do pretty much everything in the way you'd expect them to. I'd still kill for an updated version of the figure, though.

As far as ultron goes, it looks like his hips peg in from the top and not the back like raiden and snake. That's miles better in my book.

Also, no restrictions isn't quite accurate depending on the style of figure they want to make.

If they are going for the "ideal human body model," making the joints not as exposed and noticeable might be an issue for articulation. Characters with designs you can get away with exposed joints, which gives it better articulation range.

They might make it a little stylized, like AB without the ports and stuff.

Comes out in May. It's useful to recognize some kanji. A number then 月 will be the month, so 5月 is May.

I don't think it's because it's Sentinel, unless they demand a lot of fee for their contract work. But I doubt it, UC would just ask Yamaguchi to do it.

Maybe there are actual diecast parts? Or the paint work made it that much more expensive. Or it's just simply because it is a niche franchise they are not making that many so price per item is higher. Probably all of the above.

Here I was looking forward to the return of Super Robots Revoltech.

Fuck, I had a bunch typed up before I hit escape like a tard. Anyway, I just got ultron, some quick impressions:

There's some weird stuff going on with the tightness of the joint pegholes. Some have too much flop to them, while stuff like the shoulders are so tight the actual joint popped apart when I tried to swivel it.

The movable eyes are great. He looks really menacing in general, but the eyes add so much to it. Dude looks 200% pissed 24/7.

This might just be me, but I REALLY miss having holes in his feet for the old stands. One of the things I always liked about revoltechs over figmas/figuarts/etc was that you could put them in flashy standing poses without needing a full on flight stand. The one he comes with is cool and all, but it's not as subtle as the old ground ones.

No rubber diaper like snake and raiden. The hips are weird, but I expected that.

Overall he's good, there's some weird stuff but no surprises if you've ever owned a revoltech before.

Boba Fett and Stormtrooper have a clear stick with a joint on it, peg it in their butts and it becomes a third leg kinda. makes posing real easy and its even less noticable than the old one

does Ultron not have that?

I would assume he comes with the new revo stand that started with the dragon.

I only have 4 Revoltechs (the 3 xenomorphs and Gamera) and while I really like them they all have their own really annoying issues with articulation, mainly from improper placement of the revoltech joints. are there any revos that actually articulate well?

Oh yeah, the peg-on-one-end-balljoint-on-the-other joints for his elbows are pretty great too. The molding on his forearm kind of restricts it to one axis of motion, but they're great for getting a couple extra degrees of bend, and they can change how the arm looks depending on how you've got them.

I've boiled NECA stuff before, but I've never had to or thought to try it on a revoltech. I've give it a try though, thanks.

I think I know what you're talking about, but he doesn't come with one of those. I think he's too tall for it to be of any use for him anyway. He comes with something that's basically the same as a figma/tamashii stand. The one nice thing about it is that the clip has some extra tabs on the top and bottom, which braces whatever you're gripping onto. The top of it kind of slides into his lower back too, which is cool.

Kind of comes with the territory. It tends to be a little different on all of them though, so you might like some and hate others.

Different Revoltechs are made by different sculptors, and they each have their own unique quirks.

The ones you have are from the old Sci-Fi series, and they specialized in having great sculpt and paint, but not articulation, not really.

The master of articulation is the sculptor Yamaguchi, and the Revoltechs/Revol Mini/VulcanLog he makes are all about striking great poses. They might be difficult to handle if you are not use to them, but I don't think they are impossible to do so.

You might wanna give Revol Mini a try? I find them easiest to pose and they are pretty much the basic body type configuration for his recent figures. Mini has no ratchets and have ball joints here and there.

they have extenders for the "third leg" stand, Vader actually comes with it and it allows the third leg to lay on the ground while the extender is plugged into vader's skirt.

Oh and you might want to give Evangelion Evolution series a try, they all got reissued recently besides EVA-05. They have the best articulation and are pretty easy to handle.

I received my Ultron and white Raiden today. Turned Raiden's shoulder a bit too much and the joint popped in half, luckily I was able to slide it back in. The movable eyes are really great and give a bunch of character to a figure.

Yoda, and Jango Fett.

Well, I compared him side by side to my BAF Marvel legends Ultron, and his detail is insane in comparison. He is quite a bit shorter, but that is to be expected for an import figure. He fits in with the shf avengers very well, anyway. I love the paint and sculpt. The eyes, like I said add so much. The articulation is a bit strange at the moment but that's because I'm not used to it.

Something else I should say is the stand is awesome. It blows the figuarts or figma stands out of the water, in my opinion. It's got a good center of balance, plus I love the tabs they have on the top and bottom of the hook to keep your figure stationary. I've had several instances where I tried to pose an shf flying, and he happened to dip a bit making it look silly. If you have not bought ultron, you should.
