I occasionally say it and then correct myself mid sentance only for whoever I'm speaking to just say legos.

The more something is engrained into a culture, it's gonna be common place and used as a generic term.

That last one? I didn't realize it, but it's so fucking common place in my native language. There's such a huge disconnect between my language speaking brains that i can't even recognize the fucking brand name being used as a generic word for soda.
So basically, because Americans can afford brand name stuff, the more it's seen as an everyday common object where the assumption is made that all of those types of products are the same thing.

I work with LEGO and all the afols get super uppity when you say "legos" so I make it a point to say it around certain individuals. Also, I got megabloks as a secret Santa gift and now have it at my desk, which people hate.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as LEGO, is in fact, a brand name, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, LEGO Bricks or Toys. LEGO Bricks are not a toy unto themselves, but rather another free component of a fully functioning LEGO Bricks and Toys system made useful by the LEGO Group Companies.
