Those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Screwed over in the SS again...
>>
>>5342104
If you're Ottawanon then the gifts are on their way albeit slowly out of Japland
>>
My order is still in "shipping soon"
Other than that i watched acouple vids on diorama building and decided im gonna start out easy by making a small one and working my way up to larger scale dioramas
>>
>>5342107
tell your SS, nothing worse then being out of the loop
>>
>>5342106
Not him. Have not heard a word from my SS and their 2 RGs were delivered last week.
>>
To Hawaiian anon, I shipped your stuff out today and went with priority (It was only like $2 more) so it should hopefully arrive before Christmas afterall. Most of your stuff was sold out or overpriced by the time I got to getting everything so I grabbed a couple things on your list I could and threw in some extra stuff to pad out the price range some more. I hope you like it.
>>
>>5342108
This. Tell GG to relay the info on.
>>
>>5342117
If youre ryan from md, your gift is still on its way. Ill try to find time to send out the other stuff, but the main gift probably wont get to you by christmas, maybe by the first week of the new year

>>5342118
>>5342108
It wasnt the ss gift i bought, it was 2 paints and an airbrush i bought for myself. Theyre all in stock and i emailed asking whats taking so long, and so far havent got a reply
>>

holidays bro, even my SAL shipment which usually takes 10 days to arrive took 3 weeks because it's just that time of year. DON'T cancel your order if anything
>>
>>5342129
I havent canceled anything. Just trips me out that i ordered it bout a week ago. And its funny because it says i should get it by tomorrow

Group Build news.
Clearly, pink is the winner here. However, as someone pointed out, we also have 4 different shades of blue listed...

So, I'll leave this up to you guys, we can do one of four things, declare pink's win invalid and blue can claim it, roll with pink as the winner, vote for secondary from scratch again, or we you can choose to use pink or blue as your secondary.

>>5342129
Yeah guys, don't forget that part, shipping in general is probably going to be going slower outside of 2-day or overnight.

people are pissed off that their joke vote means pink wins. I say let pink win and have people make gunpla with a less practical and serious colour.
>>

We would just end up with a group build where only like 2 people enter again.

Does anybody have the lighting zeta and the old HG zeta? Would I be able to ask a favor of whichever anon that has both of these? I just want to see if the legs on the lightning fit the original.

texasbro your order is shipped. I expedited it so it should be getting there latest monday next week. Thanks for dealing with my bullshit.
>>
>>5342379
Looking at the manuals on dalong.net they use completely different methods for connecting the legs so you'd have to do some work to make it happen

Barbatos obviously
>>
>>5342499
I have acouple stuff in my backlog. So i have some small options
>>
>>5342502
I actually have a barbatos in my backlog so I guess I'll give it a shot better than the factory roll out build /m/ is having
>>
>>5342502
Barbatos would probably actually look pretty good with the white parts all painted a faint pink.
>>
>>5342486
FUND IT! Was pissed when they never made a model of this. Theory is bandai was being cheap and didn't want to change the Abigor mold to fit for one kit.
>>
I keep getting compelling ideas for intricate builds, so I order more kits. I also have a fraction of the free time necessary to complete my projects, so the backlog grows.
While I'm not in danger of getting crowded out by unbuilt gunpla, I worry that I will never complete my project list, at the rate nice kits keep getting released.
Anyone else have this problem?
>>
>>5342452
man I've got to apologize for the slow shipping, I'd completely forgotten that even with ems, everything will take like an extra week to get shipped. Hopefully you won't have to wait until january or some shit
>>
>>5342528
Ditto, you're not alone. "Backlog" implies more than just the concept of having many models, it's that it will take quite a long time to complete them with any amount of quality inherent, unless you're a snapshit like a certain poster around here.
>>
>>5342499
Fuck it, let's be the barbie attack squad that's knocking on /m/'s door for their factory rollout/unfinished models.
>>
>>5342489
Ah, yeap. Darn. I messed up one of the legs on the zeta I'm building and even lost a piece to the void, one of the thruster things came off when I was sleeping it since it was loose and I haven't seen it since. I was hoping I'd be able to go to the hobby shop across the street and use the lighting zeta's legs since they're probably better engineered, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to make the leg joints fit the regular without just making it worse.
>>
wouldn't white and silver contrast silly, blue pls. if white and silver tho i have an idea for a g bouncer
>>
To the gentleman that sent my package:

>>
>>5342852
I won't deny its not easy but its things like this that make for interesting challenges and result in creative builds, pink can be taken a lot of places and there's many shades to work with. Specially with the white primary and gold trim, a more subdued pink to match the white with the gold to pop might fit more than youd expect.

Though i do think /toy/ is too small to make it work, even if it can be done it isn't the most accessible of themes and most won't even try.
>>
>>5342863
From what I've seen from /m/ most of them are OK apart from the shitposter. I'm not super experienced yet so I just panel line and try to get rid of nubs, looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone though.

Old Bandai. Like from 1997 if thats the kit I'm thinking of.

Probably not the best first kit to make, then again you don't really have a choice if you're not interested in gunpla/plamo

Have no idea why Bandai didn't undergate the 1/100 Sumo. Was the technology not there at the time? Or at least not economically viable?

It looks delicious, but any joint hip - down are kinda flimsy. And there are gonna be disgusting nubs.

Still, it looks nice next to the MG Turn A and Turn X.

We always think about what kits would be like if they were made today with modern articulation. But what if some current models were made earlier?

Like, how would they conceive of a Grimoire, Genoace or Build Burning back in the 90's Wing kits days. It's a very interesting though that I don't think is touched upon much.

First Gunpla? Well done. No extremely obvious nubs from what I can see and you didn't break anything (guess who did both). Now you're ready for panel lining and matte top coat.
>>
heyya folks, somewhat new to the whole gunpla shebang (7 kits in) and I'm seeing some finer points in my models that I could possibly work on. While over time I was able to clear up every problem I've had, making each kit look better than the last, one problem has remained in the last 3 kits I've built and I can't quite figure it out. Every time I use my side cutters to remove a part from a sprue (holding the flat end of the cutters against the part) I'm left with a discoloration in the plastic. I've tried using a metal model file from Tamiya to rub on the areas where the sprues were attached, hoping to clear up the plastic, yet it only clears up a small bit before I find myself wearing away at the plastic beyond what I should. Any pointers for what I may/may not be doing wrong here?
>>
>>5344443
Discoloration can only be completely removed with paint.

So gents, what do you think the arms and legs were taken from? I wanted to do something similar myself.
>>
>>5344445
But is there any way to avoid it being there in the first place? Like not cutting the nub all the way down and instead leaving a few millimeters on and filing it down? I'm primarily talking about future models. I like to date each one as a testament to what I've learned, so I have no plans to go back and change any of the ones I've already built.
>>
>>5344443
>(holding the flat end of the cutters against the part)
This is your problem. You actually want to cut the pieces free leaving a small amount of the gates on, trimming those off afterwards. Imagine a piece that is connected in 3 spots to the runners. It should be taking at least 6 actual cuts to remove that piece from the runners, and maybe more depending.

Kotobukiya battle rifle. (one of the only MSG sets that works with smaller HG's)
i beefed up the scope, extended the mag and added a couple of small details with pla plate.
>>
>>5344453
So just cut them free, then cut what remains in the same manner I was doing already, or is there a method to trimming them down properly?
>>
>>5344456

Any idea on the arms, for that matter?
>>
>>5344461
>>5344446

Arms are from the Manrodi (From the shoulder down the entire arm is used) and the claws on the end are from a builders part set.
>>
>>5344446
Claws are from Builder Parts MS Ground 01.
>>
>>5344458
That discoloration is caused by stress, that stress is from the clippers crushing and twisting the plastic too close to the piece. I recommend x-acto and sandpaper for the last steps of gate removal, if your intent is to avoid stress discoloration.
>>
>>5344458
So you want minimum stress marks?

1. Initial cut from the sprue, leaving most of the nub on the part
2. File down 90% of the remaining nub
3. Sand down the last 10%

It takes the most time imo vs using nippers to remove the nub or using a hobby Knife to cut the nub off
>>
>>5344465

so are the leg boosters. Thats the only addon i can see.

Does anyone who's built both the HG 1/144 Schwalbe Graze and a Frame Arms Girl Stylet know how hard it would be to attach Graze's leg's to Stylet's thighs? I bought a second Frame Arms Girl to customize and I've been looking for some nice limbs for it and Graze has just what I'm looking for.
>>
>>5344471

as someone who just built 4 transparent action base 1's in a row, its actually quicker to cut with nippers, grind any stress marks or whitening out with a dremel, fill with GSI Creos Beautifully transparent adhesive, then wave sanding sticks, then polish with sujiborido glass brite. you can actually deseam transparent kits if your bored enough.

But really, that pseudo inner frame can eat a shit, I tried removing the pegs on the forearms so I could slide the frame into the armor after welding it, but I haven't got it to work yet.
>>
>>5344592
Damn it looks like it might take some doing if I wanted to make it work. Does anyone know if there are any other 1/144th scale kits with somewhat slender legs and heels that might make for an easier kitbash? I'm honestly not too familiar with Gundam so I don't know how many of the mechs have this look I'm going for or what to look for.
>>
>>5344725

yeah i know the feeling, i test fitted the whole kit removing all seams, then took it apart and primed then re assembled and touched up all the seams & sanded down all the rub areas & re primed. Still had problems re assembling it fully painted. the leg armor was the worst.
