They're alright. The lack of unified or semi-unified skin colors is pretty annoying. The Rock shouldn't be the same shade as Steve Austin, but it'd also be cool if you could give Austin the Undertaker's arm without it looking like he's wearing a fucking flesh colored sweater.
Overall, if you like toys with interchangable parts, they're a lot of fun, though. They lack the torso and wrist articulation of elites, but the increased leg articulation helps make them more fun than basics.

I have about 10 versions of the basic Mattel Rey figure alone. I know, runaway consumerism. Each time I bought another one, I kept telling myself that this recolor would be the last one, but...
Anyways, back in March, I bought a box of wrestling figures from a kid at a yard sale. This Rey in the pic was in the bottom of the box. As you can see, the kid "Customized" him. Rey sports marker-ized "blood" all over his body. There's considerable attention to the face with blood coming out of his mouth and blood red irises.
And then, after a week later after I bought the bloody Rey, Rey Mysterio accidentally killed Perro Aguayo in a 4-way ring match.

It's looking like the upcoming DM Stone Cold might be the best, at least when put on a price:features scale. The first HoF Target one would also rank REALLY high up there. It just depends on if you like Austin in jean shorts or black trunks, really. Alternatively, one of the coolest Austins has to be the old DM4 one, with the hunting jacket.
Best Mankind is without a doubt the Elite 17 one. It's pricey as fuck, though. You can get the recent Basic series Mankind for relatively cheap, especially because they repacked him into some of the newer waves due to demand. It's a great figure, other than the normal gimped nature of Basics. There was also a "boiler room" old school Mankind that Amazon released that is pretty solid. That one is mildly expensive.
