They know those outside of japan aren't mega crazy about their toys, some of us (like those of us here) are, but a vast majority aren't, thus they opted to keep the cost down and make it appeal to more people including kids.

This sounds so much like the toy equivalent of the shit people say about anime when comparing it to western animation, it's kinda eerie, and I'm inclined to think it's just as likely to be mistaken.
If there's any reason for the difference in quality between toys in Japan versus the US, I would think it's less to do with nonsense like "everyone buys them" and "they're just more acclimated to higher quality than we are" and more to do with the different natures of the two markets. Transforming robot toys are simply far more saturated in the Japanese toy market than they are in the US, which naturally leads to a greater level of competition between brands than in the US, where you can count the number of non-Transformer brand robot toy lines on one hand and have fingers left to spare.
In which environment do you think a company has the greater incentive to make a better product: the one where there are few other brands competing with that product, or the one where there are many other brands competing with that product?
Of course, I think even that's overly simplifying it, and Japan is kind of a strange beast when it comes to their ability to sell shit to oddly specific niche audiences, but I hope you see my point. If Transformers had more competition in the US than MARS shit or dollar store knockoffs, there might actually be more reason for Hasbro to push for more quality in their products than they currently are, but that would require the US market to be capable of sustaining that competition, which it currently isn't.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is. IDW seems pretty popular, as far as Transformers goes anyway. It's something for the older fans, since cartoons aren't going to cut it most of the time due to having to avoid a lot of themes.

What I'm hoping for is the '86 movie cast getting new Deluxes or Voyagers like is rumored. My only Hot Rod is the CW one, and I'm not paying $50 for a Generations Deluxe, thats just way too much. I just want to complete an '86 cast.

The problem is making these molds. It's not just a cost issue, but also a labor issue, the current staff at Hasbro/Takara can only do so many designs a year. I don't think it's possible for them to slot in 5 dual use mods that also combine when they are also working on the Titans Returns, RID, MPSs and whatever other side projects Takara is funding by itself (like the Shuttle Blastoff or Groove).

I'd say CW is 1/2 great, 1/2 filler. Superion and Defensor turned out pretty well. And Bruticus would be stellar if it weren't for Brawl's shitty waist and Blast-Off's lack of faceplate.

The comics are a waste of materials. They rarely focus on the toy you're getting, have ugly art, and usually throw you into the middle of some ongoing plot without reason to care.
They should have done like the GI Joe comic packs and just made unique stories about whatever character you just bought, instead of killing trees for no reason.

Fact, and the real reason they probably shouldn't be included and Hasbro should just take a dollar or 2 off the cost of figures. If they were sequenced properly, or if owning all figures in a wave completed a story arc, or whatever, it'd be fine. One of my pet peeves was how Swindle turned out to be one of bulkiest of the four. It really doesn't fit the image of a cunning merchant. They really should have used the Offroad/FirstAid mold instead for him.
And the paint apps for the Combaticons other than Onslaught were just bad. I guess they were aping the toy colors, but it just didn't work.

A lot of cunning merchants depicted in fiction are usually fat as fuck, though. Because they're affluent, and can afford the better things in life (ie: the sort of food that makes you a big fat fuck).
I like the current Swindle, but I can see why others might not. His original was a chunky little bastard with twiggy arms though, but given all the toys of that era tended to be little more than barely articulated bricks, that might not be much of an excuse.

Menasor is the worst of the line, but he's still not even bad. His hips were fixed (well, if you got the fixed version). He looks good just standing around, you don't NEED 3P to do anything with him.
Brawl isn't a QC issue either, he's a design problem. They designed him to have a shitty waist, and so he has that. A QC issue is like what happened with Voyager Blitzwing, where his sides weren't molded properly so his arms don't peg in like they should.
Blastoff is up to taste. I don't mind a jet Blastoff, he fits the military theme better. Would I prefer a shuttle one? Well, if they were both available on a store shelf right now in front of me, I'd probably go with the shuttle. But if the shuttle was out of stock (or just not available, as is currently happening because it doesn't exist yet), I'd snap up the jet in an instant. Which I have done.
