I did, it's still one of my fave part sources. Sand green is a great color especially, much better than olive and dark green.

All 3 of the fortresses were good, though. This and the horror subtheme of Studios were one of the only memorable themes from the early 2000s, before Castle and PM brought us into the current time, imo the best period for Lego since late 80s.

Hey does /toy/ have a list or recommendations of LEGO themes that are designed to be for adults/more advanced then normal LEGO? I'd like to get back into LEGO but I'm worried that the charm would be lost for me as an adult playing with toys if the buildings were too simple.
>>
>>5338380
if you're that worried, just pick up a few mixels or creator sets. sure you could go the promlgadult route and get a shitton if architecture sets, but that shit is going to get boring and rack up cost alot quicker than those two lines
>>
>>5338380
I hear the modular buildings series are pretty intricate and complex. Some Technic sets look that way, too.

or you could just build your own shit and make it as unsimple as you want.

Well I built >>5338601

wanted to make a functional interior, ended up settling with just the cockpit instead because I still haven't sorted out my collection and didn't want to spend three times the building time looking for certain parts.

tl;dr: cockpits are easy, functional ship/vehicle interiors are fucked
>>
>>5338943

Well, I would suggest that it's not terribly important that a fig can fit; since there are many different scales to build. As a previosusly confirmed Creatorfag, I enjoy minbuilds, Model-Team Scale, and I have seen people bemoaning that certain models cannot seat some figs. Builds do not need to revolve around minifigs. I would go so far as ENDORSE breaking out of the constraints of scale, and just build what the hell you want as long as it looks COOL.

If someone asks you about scaling it for a fig, just say "I thought about it but I wanted to get the look right, heh" or something.
>>
>>5338956
Well it's not like it's extremely important, but it would be nice to be able to make something with that in mind without it taking more time than it's really worth. Good points, though.

I've never really done non-fig building before, seems like there's a hell of a lot more freedom when it comes to shapes and part use.
>>
>>5338943
>>5338601

Also I will say that is pretty damn rad for something to evoke an 80's design ethic using what appears to be modern parts.

There are websites and people who are strict with parts and colour rules who produce far worse results.
>>

I can certainly attest to fig-fitting being a pain in the ass. Pic related fits 9 figures and I damn near drove myself mad doing it.

Given the scale of your ship though, I wouldn't put it past you if you opted not to include space for more figs, though I will say that I think the scale you've built it at warrants room for at least one more (and perhaps a small cargo hold if there isn't one already).

Cool man, thanks for that.

I know, I could probably just search out a youtube review, but the few ive seen for enlighten sets are usually the small ones, shit quality and the most lispy autistic fucks out there. I know the colors will be off a bit, and the plastic will for sure feel a little cheaper, but I just want to know how well it all goes together.

Sad to hear about that anon. It miffs me seeing eBay flooded with all these promos that should be in the hands of kids and people who would genuinely do well with them. If its any solace I'm out of pocket for two modulars this Winter for the Gingerbread House and Train set as I had nothing else left on my wishlist.

So I built the LEGO Balrog in LDD and bricklinked the pieces.

And it's easy to see how they've never made an official set, since it collapses under its own weight since the joints aren't meant for that weight.

Still, even in this slouched down state it looks really cool. Gonna switch up some things and make it able to stand up. The wings is the biggest concern, but I think I'm just gonna cheat and get me some stiff paper and cut out some pieces.

I haven't found a pirate ship yet but I've built some of their other big sets including pic related. Generally the feel is cheaper yeah, and some parts are fairly loose fitting, a couple I did swap out for real Lego for a tighter fit. The main attractions are the interesting minifigs they have, different printed pieces (them moonrunes) and the cheaper price, the space shuttle set was just $24 Cdn but I haven't had to order any of my finds online, all of them come from a liquidation center that's been a pipeline for KO legos.
>>
>>5339660
That looks really cool, I like the cockpit and storage space.
>>
>>5339765
nice.

I wish I knew where some places in michigan were to get chink legos for cheap. I finally broke down and bout one of the v-wing knockoffs from china, and ordered a legit one. Ill be able to do a decent side by side comparison (in 6 months when the chink version comes. Also, the legit one I ordered, the prick on bricklink hasnt even responded with an invoice yet and I ordered it on the 12th....)

Was it the Sheng Yuan "TIE Interceptor"? I have one and I'd say the quality is somewhat better than Enlighten overall, the fit is just about Lego quality (equivalent to Kreo imo) and everything about the set is a fairly high standard.
>>
>>5339764
Cool! Try making a stand for it, maybe?
>>
>>5339790
Nah. I don't care if it's not 100 % identical to the "real" one, as that ones horns are made of black macaroni pieces and tauntaun horns, which don't exist in real life. I just used two spiderlegs, and I think they do the trick.

When I bought the CMF "spooky girl" for my gf, about a year ago, it was sealed without that grey skirt. We contacted Lego to see if we could receive or buy one - they informed us that they'll sent us one asap. A week past with no word, we received an E-mail that they didn't have any more in stock so they'll try to "buy" us a new spooky girl. Two weeks later, there was a lego package in the mail, we opened it expecting ,maybe, another spooky girl but three were new CMF (of the same series) we didn't have in our collection. Lego goes to great lengths to please their customers.

What if you did it like the second one from the right; more angular and less pod-like. Might be easier to build into his mech bosses as well.
>>
>>5339954
>Fuck that build the pod!
>>
>>5339987
Seconding.

The classical Eggmobile is much more iconic than something newer. That, and many of the bosses from the first games were pretty simple additions to the Eggmobile.

From maybe Sonic 3 onwards bosses would be more difficult to handle as you get both the robotic minibosses and the actual bosses which are much more bulky than the ones from S1 and 2.

January 1st is a full on assault on wallets. Not even a joke.

What are you all getting in January?

for me:
All the new minifigures
2 or so new DC sets (BvS)
2 or so Marvel sets
4 or 5 Star wars sets, focusing on the larger ones and battle packs
and either ghostbusters hq or the bank.
the valentines seasonal set
maybe 1 or 2 nexo nights sets to test out the theme

whatever I don't get now i'll slowly acquire over the course of 2016.

hard choices.

Honestly wont be getting much SW, just the two Battlefront BPs. Everything else is pretty mediocre, although I might get that TFA battle set if I like the movie.

Other than that, probably the Creator dog set, and maybe something Ninjago. Probably a Nexo Knight set too, maybe one with that cute green knight.

Nothing else really appeals. Most of the good city stuff doesnt come until the second half of the year anyway.

Approximately 11,000 pieces.

Is there a way to check what's available to buy and the prices at a given Legoland? I've heard people say they sell stuff at a reduced price but I don't know if that's true and if it is, what they stock.
>>
>>5341309
Call them.
>>
>>5341312
For? Would I have to inquire about individual sets or would I be able to get a catalog?
Do they sell stuff for a % cheaper?
>>
>>5341319
Just ask them what deals they have that day. There's not going to be a catalog showing discounts per individual store.

It's blue just like the TIE fighters in TESB.

>>5341323

It's not blue, it's just in space, and space is in the sky. The sky is blue, and that blue is reflecting on the ship.

>not even in the lego store yet
this is bs
does this mean that the U.S. will at least get it in January?
>>
>>5341334
If they're in Canada they're coming to the US at the same time.
>>

realize stores that are getting it, AND putting it on the shelves are either A. ignoring date markers (and lego literally uses massive shelf date markers) or B. the date markers didn't make it on the box, which could mean it was shipped or packaged wrong any point before the store
its most likely A, but A is what gets stores in trouble if it gets reported
