Recently I've been thinking about getting something from Sideshow Collectibles Hot Toys line. I always wanted a figure from them but since they are quite pricey I always passed.

What does /toy/ think about them? How is the quality? Is it worth it?

Face sculpts look amazing, accessories look mostly very good. Anyone has experience with Hot Toys?

Was thinking about getting pic related.

that face looks worse than past Black Widow figures

But then I did some research on how actually the body looks like and I'm a bot disappointed.

It looks kinda cheap. Especially those arm joints.

Yeah but in some online comparisions it actually looks almost the same as pic related, even though here, clearly it looks better.

Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys are two completely separate companies. Sideshow is a reseller for Hot Toys figures but Sideshow also makes their own figures and statues as well. I would definitely rate Hot Toys 1/6 scale figures as a step above the ones from Sideshow. Whether they are worth the price is a hard question to answer. I've got a Hot Toys Silver Centurion and it's very high quality and i would absolutely buy from them again in the future.

I think I'll get the Pepper/Mark IX then.

Really pity about Scarlett Witch I liked her design from the movie very much.
>>
>>5333857
Oh yeah, I think any toy person should just have at least one or two HT figures. I don't see myself havign a whole collection of focussing on them, because most Hot toys collections I've seen look a bit dull, but they're cool pieces.

It's just like some anon previously said her face is not that great and as you can see the body is kinda shitty also.

Winter Soldier looks way better but that's just in promotional photos I think since in a comparision video their faces looked almost the same.
>>
>>5333879
Would you have any recommendations what to get?

Maybe a male like pic related?

>>
>>5333857
Personally I'd avoid anything with those rubbery arm coverings. That shit never holds up well over time.
>>
>>5333952
Rey does look good but she is quite expensive.

Also the movie will be shit and figures will constantly remind you about your ruined childhood.

I think this definitely used to be accurate, but Sideshow has come a long way in paint, sculpt, and quality control. As the owner of many Sideshow and Hot Toys figures, I can easily recommend both.

>>5333872
S Centurion is definitely a badass suit.
>>
>>5333833
it's not the interior what's count anon jesus
you unsuperficial bastard
>>
>>5334009
Yeah, but I collect anime scales so it's just like 2 of them so the price doesn't bug me too much. Plus they have the payment plan thing so that's nice.

Kylo is out in Hong Kong and he looks great so I think I'll get him also.

>ruined childhood
That's why I'm waiting till the 18th to preorder.

>>

I have Robocop and Silver Centurion Iron Man. both are spectacular. The Robocop in particular, his articulated hands are stunning. Mine has the control chair which is impressive, too.

I wanted that Wolverine, too. I think Jackman felt the most like a proper Wolverine in that movie. And Snake Eyes too, though it's durability worries me in the long run. My absolute most wanted figures would be HT Reeves superman and Keaton Batman, but they're so damn expensive now.

I warn you anon it is a slippery slope, from which there is no return for your wallet.

I just got the Sideshow Deadpool recently and he is pretty decent. Looking forward to seeing pics of their Wolverine next week.
>>
>>5334414
Could you please elaborate? Do they break? Melt?
What can happen to those arms?

>>5334394
I kinda want her also since she looks quite awesome, and you can get her without the robot for a "normal" price - then again I guess you should get the robot as well.

Hope the movie is not that terrible so I can get her. Will take a closer look at Kylo but I'm not a fan of how he looks. Might get Darth Vader/Leia/Luke though.

I wish there was a Wonder Woman or Harley Quinn Hot Toy figure though.
>>
>>5334490

To my knowledge, the rubber can crack and spit over time. Climate may play a factor in it as well. All the Hot Toys figures only had the rubber body/neck and never arms or legs

You idiot.
those clothed are not mean to be pulled off.
the ones that are meant to show skin will have detail.
I think you will be surprised when you buy your first Ironman suit to find you cant take Tony's body out of the suit
>>
>>5334432
>>5334490
When rubber gets dried it cracks or splits, more so when it's dried and gets hot. You can use rub on olive oil or rubber conditioner to help keep it in good condition.

I don't know about those arms in particular but that's just all rubber.

How? It looks exactly like her.
>>
>>5333828
i have her on po. I got her on the payment plan. on more payment and she'll be on the way.
>>
I used to collect them, but the prices are getting ridiculous so I stopped. 300$+ is more than I'm willing to spend on a figure. Their Robocop is one of the best versions you'll ever find. And to this day it still impresses the fuck out of me. If the prices were still in the 180-200$ range, I would be all over their Star Wars line.
>>
>>5334913
also, I hate this diecast fad, it's their excuse to up the prices of some figures
>>
>>5334582
This is bad advice. Hot Toys rarely use pure rubber on their figures any more after all the issues it caused in the past. Now they use synthetic mixtures or flexible vinyls (vinyl stands up much better over time).

If there's any kind of paint detailing on the flexible sections odds are they're a vinyl of some kind. The only Hot Toys figure I have with straight-up rubber on it Robocop, and I coat his rubber parts with Honda Shin-Etsu silicone grease every three months or so.

Fucking around with chemicals on the surface of these materials if you're not 100% what they're made of could ruin them.

I really wish Hot Toys would go back to their military figures line, even though they're making probably way more money than ever before with their licensed stuff, it sucks because their military, firefighter, police/SWAT figures were incredible with so much accessories and detail and now they've stopped making them altogether in favor of licensed stuff.

Although now that I think about it, it's probably better this way because Hot Toys focuses on all the top quality movie license stuff and meanwhile generic military/police etc figures by companies like Very Hot, and Dragon, Soldier Story etc can satisfy that military 1/6 market that Hot Toys used to, and they're doing a pretty damn good job of it too.

in hot toys if you see the figure with fabric clotes you should know the body under it is SHIT if they can hide the body they cheap it and practically put a barby on it

but if you see the naked body or they can put fabric clothes the body is fully sculpted and detailed, black widow, the boss, and jill re5 dont even have nipples, and the boobs look bad on jill and widow because they used cheap bodys since the cleverage isn't that showy and the boss has the scar but if you remove the arms and legs clothes its the same cheap arms and legs

I have maybe 6-7 hot toys and my 2 favorite are avengers Loki and groot. Never got a widow cause they made like 3 of her and feel like I would need to see them up close in detail to decide.

>Amazon prices

Some retard will sit on those for years, in the hopes someone will pay that absurd price, rather than make money right now selling them for the going rate.
>>
>>5342627
>the going rate.

I'd say find out the cost of a single well done 1/6th scale weapon now and multiply by the amount of weapons in this pack, its probably nowhere near $700 but the seller thinks because its all discontinued- the entire Hot Toys military line that some poor sap will actually pay that amount.

Ridiculous.

There are probably better 1/6 scale weapons out there by now you can buy loose, several for far less than 700 fucking hundred dollars.
