I can't really see anything being much different, OP unleashes the Matrix against Unicron instead of Rod, a few episodes in S3 where Rodimus is the main focus obviously wouldn't exist and instead of Rod V Galvatron it would just be OP v Galvatron.
If Prime lived everything would happen pretty much the same way.

I've been wondering, why the UW versions of Superion/Menasor but the CW version of Defensor?
>>
>>5333467
I would guess its due to CW Defensor being out 6 months ago and UW Defensor not being out until next week. Also, arguably Defensor is more of a lateral change than an improvement(the UW chest is just bland.)

Maybe they wanted the Protectobots ASAP, and Hasbro was then the only choice.

Maybe the cost of the UW set was too much for their budget.

Maybe they never actually cared about the differences, and UW Superion and Menasor just ended up being cheaper than complete Hasbro sets.

PE didn't really think the CW Hands and Feet out all that well.

The feet having to rely on friction to hold together is a horrible idea. I seriously struggle to stop myself from just gluing the halves together.

The hands work well, but they weren't designed with other weapons in mind. You get PE's Menasor Torso upgrade? The wrists in PE's hands can't hold it upright. You got Renderform's Eliminator Rifle? Not only can the PE wrists not hold it up, the hand will fall right out of the socket.

I'm at a loss as to what to do.

>>
>>5333508
Oh, it's okay when the Aerialbots do it. Groove is supposed to be above that nonsense though.
>>
>>5333511
The reason being...?
>>
>>5333467

UW Superion/Menasor because they had the original team members, better/more accurate colors, AND were cheaper for me at the time than buying the CW versions. I got UW Superion for $126 with free shipping when the CW limbs alone are being scalped for $40+ each.

CW Defensor because his deco feels more accurate to my half remembered memeories, and Rook is pretty damn awesome and replaces the ultra-silly tiny ass police bike turning into a gigantic foot/shin of the original.
>>
>>5333505

Try some future shine to tighten up the joints. It's been the magic cure-all to just about every single problem I've had with any figure thus far.
>>
>>5333467
Cuz if you missed the boat on the wave 1 deluxes, they got scalped like mad after they stopped being sold in stores. At the prices hasbro fireflight, skydive, alpha bravo, and maybe even dragstrip, you're better off buying the UW sets. Not to mention it gives you Slingshot and Wildrider without having to pay $45 in the aftermarket.
>>
>>5333462
Actually, the not dying part isn't that important, it's that Megatron dies instead.
>>
>>5333517
The reason being that Takara is supposed to be above Hasbro quality or something.

Really, it's just an excuse people are throwing out elsewhere on the Internet. All of the posts about it here have just been joking.
>>
>>5333462
Galvatron wouldn't exist because Megatron would have been dead. Soundwave wouldn't have brought him onboard Astrotrain, Starscream would have become leader, and without the Autobots in a weakened state, Unicron would just keep his distance since he wouldn't have warriors to use against the Autobots.
>>
>>5333562
That's good then because it'll match the quality of the other figures.
>>

Ok, with a bit of fiddling, got the PE hands to hold Shockwave. They won't hold him dead on straight though, he's at a slight angle. But there you go, you can hold him in the PE hands without chopping off Shockwave's peg. It's all about setting the fingers correctly.
>>
>>5333551
Fair enough.
How are the UW sets anyway? I'm a britbong so I only have 4/5ths of a Superion and 1/5th of a Menasor and with wave 2 having never been released it's cheaper for me to get the UW sets now.

Doesn't the crotch piece severely limit his poseability though? I'm all for articulation.

>>5333640

Given I know nothing of how much a UW set would cost you, I can't speak on it's value for you. Especially since you already own most of Superion. I didn't have anything when I started, so I opted for these since they turned out cheaper for me due to scalpers killing the CW market in the US. You might be better off just importing the missing piece of Superion than getting a whole new UW set, unless you have money to burn.

I really like the sets. They're nice, UW Superion in particular since the CW colors for Silverbolt are way off. UW Motormaster/Dragstripe are a bit uninteresting though, since it follows their original color schemes which aren't very varied compared to the CW schemes, but they still look good as representations of their originals.

Well the cheapest one on eBay UK is £77.99 [From HK though so it's possibly fake] and for one in the UK it's £109.99.
For the CW guys I still need, Air Raid/Slingshot, cheapest I've seen is £35 and Slingshot isn't even on eBay right now but he was about £50 when I last saw one.
I do also prefer the looks of UW Superion.

Take the crotch apart and cut everything inside but the bottom and the screw pipes on each corner, glue the two front parts together and then the 2 from back, you'll have a diaper easily, only con is that you'll need the screws to keep it together, just unscrew for individual bots/altmode, pros: he looks better, and can twist his waist and use the transformation joint as a ab crunch.
>>
>>5333693

Well, anyone know how the PE kit is for him then? I probably wouldn't replace the head since I like the default one. I do like the sword extender. But I've heard the crotch part severely limits his articulation. He is pretty poseable with the stock stuff, moreso with the hands/feet, you just have to watch because he is top heavy.

So my Unite Warriors Motormaster broke in half for reasons unknown. The plastic that held the "mushroom peg" joint in place inside his waist looks like it's been chewed apart. Just got some new toys from the Hasbro webste, best to worst -

Rook: Dude may be a meme, but this toy is fucking fun enough to actually make me want to get five more and Battle Core Prime. For some reason, I can hear him sounding like Heavy from "Team Fortress 2"...must be the "hat."

Wildri-...um, I mean "Brake-Neck": My favorite Stunticon using the best CW Stunti-mould. Plus, lame ass exhaust pipe club held over from original Dead End version now allows Menasor to have twin Optimus smokestacks, which looks surprisingly cool.

Chop-Shop: Obscure char redeco of OK Insecticon toy. Be better if he had a fucking gun, but not bad.

First-Aid: Favorite Protectobot char done with worst CW Stunti-mould. I swapped his axe with Rook's claw thingy since it looks more like a medical tool, and what's a medic doing with a hatchet anyway? It's not the Civil War.

Buzzsaw: AVOID THIS TOY, IT IS GARBAGE. The stickers are peeling off, the only mode that looks halfway decent is the rectangular block, if this is our first look at Titan Wars, I am worried for the future.
>>
>>5334491
You could get the Targetmaster Chop-Shop and give it to... himself.

I actually like the idea of giving First Aid Rook's claw though. Even though for Rook I imagine it as a rescue tool to haul dudes out of combat zones when he's in vehicle mode. And in robot mode, I imagine it's a tazer. He is supposed to be search and rescue, right?

So maybe First Aid will just eventually get Roller or Impactor's claw.

Enjoy him as you will, I just calls it as I sees it.

I get that with the claw, I just thought it fit First-Aid better. Maybe if I do go with the "Rook Squad" (thinking of doing a Prowl headswap on Battle Core Prime to make him into Checkpoint from "Energon"), the one with the axe will be I dunno, the individualized rebel of the group...
>>
>>5334548
Nah, First-Aid's deal was he was compelled to fix ANYTHING, be it robot, car, kitchen appliance, whatever...sort of a more sane version of Tailgate's old "ALL MACHINES ARE ALIVE" gimmick. The cartoon made him a pacifist, to kinda tie him into to Lifeline from G.I.Joe who had that as his gimmick.
>>
>>5334552
>>5334548
I love Doc and Lifeline. And Ratchet and First Aid. I'm always into the medic characters, for some reason.

>>5334546
It could be that, too. The thought of Autobots rescuing humans never even crosses my mind since I am much more focused on the robits. But yeah, I think it would serve that purpose nicely, too. Seems kind of like a multi-tool, I guess.
>>
Is Transformers Animated Swindle any good?

Love the character but I really am not digging the CW figure of him. Is the animated version a better version in terms of resembling the character and articulation and shit?
>>
>>5334562
Yeah but he has clear plastic joints so good luck not breaking him.
>>
>>5334559

Medics are fine, but way too many are usually the ultra-pacifist stereotype.
>>
>>5334562
Yeah, he's a pretty great figure, armed to the fucking teeth and surprisingly on-model too.
>>
>>5334552
Modern IDW First Aid is also obsessive-compulsive (compulsively collects any and all Autobot ID badges he can get his hands on) and a bit of a captain sensible, in the way that he killed Pharma when Ratchet refused to do the job, even after Pharma killed the only other Autobot medic on the Lost Light ship and Ratchet gave a big spiel about how, because Pharma was a psychopathic mad man, he would deem Ratchet killing him as ultimate victory, due to Pharma by that point living solely to prove Ratchet a hypocrite and fraud after Ratchet outed him and maimed his hands.
>>
>>5334559
I just wish Ratchet was more of how he was in his bio, or better, the way he was in the early Marvel comics. I loved Animated, but the idea of a Ratchet that was more Hawkeye from M.A.S.H. (oldfag alert!) than House always appealed to me.
>>
>>5334573
This was probably their way of getting around the "all medics are pacifists" cliche' the other guy mentioned.
>>
>>5334562
>>5334569
Thanks for reminding me to check eBay for Swindle parts I just snagged what I needed to fix mine.
>>
>>5334575
I am 100% with you. Marvel comics Ratchet is my favorite TF character. I always like to imagine Ratchet as Dr. Leonard McCoy that drinks too much to compensate for the horrors of war (like his bio mentions, he parties too much). So not quite House level, but not always the cheeriest dude. I liked him in Prime and Animated, but he wasn't ideal. I think IDW does a decent job, too.

>>5334570
I like having a Pacifist or two among all the shoot-first macho dummies. Ratchet isn't really a pacifist, though.
>>
>>5334562
Don't bother, he WILL break on you.
>>
>>5334330
If you have to ask, you will never get it.
>>
>>5334591

I'm talking more about the stereotype as something present in all fiction, not just Transformers, but yeah, you're right.
>>
>>5334575
Ratchet as written in his bio would be lame.

The Marvel and to a lesser extent IDW version, works well as he's basically Wilson from House, not House himself. He's the universe's chew toy, the abused best friend of the main character (Optimus), and constantly getting treated like shit by everyone but always being the guy who saves the day when no one else can.

Ironically, Prowl's character assassination would work far better with Ratchet in terms of character development. The idea that Ratchet would break bad because he was sick and tired of seeing Optimus not stopping the Cons dead and generally speaking, going "fuck humanity" after Spike's betrayal, would be far more interesting and compelling coming from Ratchet (a doctor who snaps at his superiors stupidity and willingness to coddle the enemy) than someone like Prowl, who was part of the Functionalist secret police and all around brown shirt scum, who hates the Decepticons because they overthrew the government and ruined the super sweet life Prowl had as a hired killer for the corrupt government.
>>
>>5334591
Yeah, Marvel!Ratchet was the best. I loved how HE was more Megatron's arch-enemy than Optimus was...Op was just the enemy commander, Ratchet was the one who was the true opposite of Megatron who kept getting in his way. Budiansky's writing had its flaws, but this and Blaster as a burnt-out rebel finding a new reason to fight were two of the high points.
>>
>>5334570
>Medics are fine, but way too many are usually the ultra-pacifist stereotype.

First Aid is really the only pacifist medic. And I still think the Ultimate Weapon is my favorite depiction of him.
>>
>>5334617
I saw him more as Wheeljack's best friend, but that might be the cartoon's influence on me.
>>
>>5334617

From the little I've read of IDW stuff (just getting into the comics a bit, mostly stuff from the toys themselves) Prowl is reading like a horrible pastiche of every "corrupt cop" archtype.
>>
>>5334533
I imagine Rook using his claw to torture black criminals and civilians.
>>
>>5334617
I'm just glad the similar character assassination done to Rattrap, my favorite TF character, turned out to be just him being in deep cover (ironically FOR Prowl) and not him being an actual torturing turncoat fuckwad. It even ties nicely to the Beast Wars cartoon in a way, because I always wondered what a fucking saboteur/nearly-ninja type was doing on a research and exploration vessel. The answer: trying to get away from the horrible things he did in the line of duty, to put his dark past behind him and make a new life with people who didn't know about it.
>>
>>5334627
Prowl is mostly that guy who thinks he knows everything and the right way to do it and is insanely bitter because no one will listen to him or do what he wants (and in his defense Optimus has been kind of an idiot) and that has led him to act out in many ways that make him seem like a little kid throwing a tantrum.
>>
>>5334617
Prowl did nothing wrong. The Decepticons going out of control essentially toppled their entire civilization and made Cybertron uninhabitable. The government may have been corrupt, but the Decepticon and Megatron's response was in the end out of proportion to what the government was doing.
>>
>>5334598
Well I mean, I have a surgical mask right.

Can I be a ninja?
>>
>>5334643
Yeah, this is how I see him, too. They might have gone a little too far during the Combiner Wars comic and its aftermath, and I'd have liked to see him more like how he was in the "Police Action" arc of Costa's IDW run, but it's looking like "Sins of The Wreckers" might be addressing that and, Primus willing, redeeming him a little.

>>

>>
>>5334673

>>
>>5334681
Yeah, there was a bit of the "Here, catch! FINAL FUSION GO!" hot potato thing going on with the Enigma of Combination for a bit there.
>>
>>5334684
In many ways: yeah kinda like him. Except people (tfs) tend to slap him down instead of sucking his cock.
>>
>>5334681
It was definitly a "Hasbro made us do this, here they fucking are" type deal.
>>
>>5334690
The entire deal with the Engima and the Primes crap were all Hasbro's ideas from the Binder of Revelations. They really need to move away from being weeded to that shit.
>>
>>5334693
And Optimus nearly beat him to death while screaming about justice which was pretty funny.
>>
>>5334700
In retrospect that perfectly explains why half the autobots would rather stay on a ship with Megatron and Rodimus than remain on their homeplanet with Prowl, Optimus and Starscream.
>>
>>5334697
UGH...DON"T get me started on the clusterfuck that is the Aligned Continuity. The less said, the better...far as I'm concerned, the videogames are G1 and Prime and RID15 (and Rescue bots, which actually seems to have more in common with RID15 than Prime does) are their own thing.

The "Rage of The Dinobots" and "Beast Hunters" comics were good, though. Grimlock as Conan the Barbarian in the middle of "Mad Max" was at least something that felt new, and Sludge as the main char was a nice touch.
>>
>>5334700
I hope someone nearly beats Walky to death while screaming about justice.
>>
>>5334639
Actually there was no deep cover with Prowl. Rattrap only saved Prowl because he was playing BOTH Starscream and Prowl against each other, for his own selfish reasons of gaining power with whoever killed the other.

The closest we got to "Rattrap playing the long game" was the hint that he was from the Beast Planet, when he basically told Windblade exactlay HOW to get the beasties to side with her (IE target Cheetor and Black Arachnia and ignore Dinobot).
>>
>>5334684
If Prowl is more snarky and pathetic, yes.
Prowl, at least, is capable.
>>
>>5334710

It isn't any worse than comic book companies rebooting their entire universes every few years honestly. Bad as things can be, nothing will ever touch on clusterfucks like One More Day.
>>
>>5334725
>Prowl, at least, is capable.
This is so annoying because yes, Prowl is very capable. This was mentioned elsewhere but imagine if Prowl worked for Megatron. Shit would get done and there wouldn't be a fucking four million year war.
>>
>>5334709
To be fair, Optimus would not be IN the mess he was in, if the Lost Lights would just come home. Or were forced to come home.

Fucker surrounded himself with traitors (Arcee/Prowl/Constructicons and Skylynx, who will betray anyone if you feed him gourmet energon) and people the traitors walk all over like complete bitches (Jazz, Sideswipe, Cosmos, Jetfire).

Had he had competent people like Ratchet, Rodimus, Chromedrome, Rewind, and Ultra Magnus around him, Prowl would have been rotting in a prison cell for the Overlord shit and he'd have loyal people around him on Earth AND on Cybertron to actively combat Starscream.
>>
>>5334731
True, but THAT pisses me off, too, LOL.

That convo's for a different section of the boards, tho'...
>>
>>5334682
Galvatronus/Cyclons would have destroyed Cyclonus's entire arch and pissed so many people off though.

If anything, it was the ONLY thing that IDW was allowed to ignored when they were forced to write Combiner War

So, I actually like him.

I'm now imagining how great a heist caper with Chop Shop, Buzzsaw and Swindle could be. Swindle plans it, they use Buzzsaw for recon and his PDA mode for hacking security (and he can murder people if it comes down to it) and Chop Shop does the dirty work.

I blew out my knee 3 weeks ago and haven't really been able to open any toys. It's hard to even open boxes and carry shit to your desk when you're on crutches.

Today I can finally pretty much walk with one crutch, so I took the opportunity to open the new legends wave.

I love Shockwave and Chop Shop. I like Buzzsaw pretty well, as I mentioned >>5334825 here.

Pipes is a cool toy but a terrible Pipes. I love the mold, it just doesn't work as Pipes. Pipes was/is my fav Minibot and one of my most treasured childhood toys. Pipes needs the faceplate and no hands, just pipes. This mold doesn't even have smokestacks. And the OP body is too heroic for Pipes.

Still, I love the colors and the way this thing looks. I use Sentinel pen OP as my Legends-size Prime, and I have Huffer mistransformed so he is a boxy dork. I know we frown upon fun here, but who can I repurpose this guy as?
>>
>>5334826
I need Hound, too. And I buy every Wheeljack. Man, Smokescreen needs some more paint. And I don't need Trailbreaker after the excellent recent one.
>>
>>5334830

Trailbreaker/Smokescreen just don't have much, if any, nostalgia pull to me, which is why I've only got them as "maybe". Especially since I already own Prowl/Deadend/Streetwise/Wildrider. I like that mold a lot, but unlike those 4, he's not part of an iconic combiner nor does he have much nostalgia pull for me.

But Hound is the excellent Rook/Swindle mold, and he's got the nostalgia factor for me, plus Wheeljack is the Breakdown mold, and I love that one.
>>
>>5334838
Smokescreen has a tiny bit of nostalgia for me. I honestly can''t remember if I have the classics version. I like the Dead End mold too, but I own him, Wildrider, Prowl and Streetwise. I don't give a dick about using Sky Lynx as a combiner, so Smokescreen and Trailbreaker are maybes for me, too. Depends on if I find a use for the extra limbs.

I am a sick, sick man when it comes to Wheeljack though. Even if this one kinda looks like shit I'm still buying it.
>>
>>5334840

Yeah, Skylynx as a combiner looks decent but I certainly won't be getting him for his combiner ability, it'll be for Skylynx himself, same reason I got CW Cyclonus. And I have Sunstreaker/Prowl/Ironhide/Mirage/Offroad hanging around if I REALLY need extra limbs for anyone.
>>
>>5334572
>surprisingly on-model too
That's because the show and toy designers worked side by side from the get go for that show.
>>
>>5334573
>Modern IDW First Aid is also obsessive-compulsive (compulsively collects any and all Autobot ID badges he can get his hands on)

So I'm shockwave anon, the one that had the one missing the peg.

Got my refund because the store I got him from didn't have anymore (though a pipes out of no where shown up, but I have no interest, a mouthplate would of helped), another store finally got some white primes but as it turned out they NEVER stocked legends class (3 near empty pegs for one step changers, what in the fuck are they doing) and another had full pegs...

Of the last wave, apparently that was what they were assigned.

3 stores, all disappointments, turns out my local one was the only one that had the new legends, perhaps if I'm lucky they'll have the next combaticon wave.

Just need me a swindle, a take off, and a lot of luck.

I will make black power prime with swindle and hound skates

So try to tell me something about these guys that I don't know.

As the new legends class figures are rolling in I managed to grab me a chopshop, not bad but now I want more of the bastards, some shops have the cw bombshell but I've NEVER seen the hasbro...skrapnel around, and considering the age I doubt I'll find one.

I can import the adventure ones cheaper than the hasbro skrapnel (I'm not in the US), I like the paint apps especially shrapnel's eyes being red, I know of the stickers but is there anything else to worry about?
>>
>>5334925
Shrapnel was released as part of the Thrilling 30 version of the CHUG line that came before CW. Hence him being long gone from most stores, unless you pick up the Takara 2-Pack of him and Bombshell.

That said, the Takara Shrapnel has a god-awful huge RID style sticker on his chest, which Takara remolded so the sticker would fit. That is the only major thing you need to worry about if you are mixing and matching US and Japanese figures.
>>
>>5334915
My stores are currently flooded with the first 84 Bot waves.

Never saw the first wave of CW deluxes in store, and never saw Motormaster until the White Prime wave.

Protectorbots appeared ONCE and ONLY ONCE. Managed to snag Red Alert but when I came back for the others, they were all gone. Never even SAW Hot Spot. Or Ultra Magnus.

Furthermore, never saw Powerglider at store. I had to mail order for Bombshell and only got Blackjack when they reissued him as part of the Groove wave of Legends.
>>
>>5334936
>takara 2 pack

There was a 2 pack!?

I've only been aware of these guys sold individually under the adventure line.

Well if I get the whole "main" insecticons under adventure l'd live with that, chopshop could count as an underling/seperate sub faction so him being a different deco would be fine.

>>5334939
If we're talking about Australia we still have a few hotspots hanging around now with white primes trickling out, protectorbots shelf warmed until wave 4 came and they just faded away from shelves.

Plenty of stores here still have powerglide, but never saw viper apart from a pop culture store which charged the price of a deluxe for, since its cheaper than a US import I grabbed it.

But yeah never saw aerial bots, saw one breakdown and dead end and an offroad, like literally one of each then nothing until the protectobot limbs came.

Its good that you can accept the toy for what it is and just fix it yourself but a common argument for this would be the fact you're basically apologizing for the company and taking your own time and money to fix what should of been perfect out of the box, now pulling a few screws out and making adjustments or using a little force to fix I can understand, but even if you already had a paint brush and paint it is something you...shouldn't have to do.

Modding a toy and fixing an imperfect product are 2 different things.

>>5335152

I see your point.
People fail to see that these toys are getting cheaper cause of necessity, not cause Hasbro's jewing us or whatever. Less people are buying toys, and prices to make them are rising. we should have expected this.

Taking that into consideration, a chill outlook is best when scouting new toys. could be worse
