Seriously, who names these fuckin things?
old thread: >>5305996
>>5329866
I'm SO excited for their Rapido though.
THIS is what I want from Fansproject (and most 3P companies) Stylized designs of existed characters, cause often the aesthetic strays way too far from the original (Lookin at you Maketoys and Cassy Sark)
Can't you guys make your own robots?
>>5330113
Yes, and some have, Pic related.
Problem is maas producing a toy is fucking expensive. You need to have an appeal to get these things produced, and nabbing a popular design is a surefire way to appeal. Until 3D printing is widely available and it's quality can rival mold-injection, we'll only see an occasional independent transforming robot toy.
>>5330148
I wish FP did more stuff along the lines of steelcore before they started on their quality downturn, it seemed like he was universally well received. You're right though, an original transforming robot is a hard sell when one of the first questions your market will ask is "how close to the cartoon is it?" Like, the two in the OP are so obscure that it's nuts, but they're STILL safer than original stuff.
>>5330166
>how close to the cartoon is it
And the real kick in the nuts is that the cartoon FUCKING SUCKS. Its only redeeming value is nostalgia.
>>5330113
maybe they will when eBay customizers stop ripping off popular IPs too.
>>5330172
Cartoon aesthetic beats sheer greebles, though
>>5329870
So when are we going to get an IDW styled Dreadwind and Smokescreen combo? G2 Redux needs to arrive in full force. Laser Rods and cycles can come too.
>>5330305
>Anime style Dreadwing and Smokescreen
>Laser Rods with Revoltech-tier posability
Anon, you're making me go crazy! especially since I just recieved Dreadwing and Smokescreen a couple days ago. Amazing toys for their time.
>>5330310
All new Cyberjets and Skyscorcher style figures for delicious basic/scout/new Legends size.
WHEN?
>>5330262
>Cartoon aesthetic
By that I assume you mean shitty, low quality animation.
>>5330324
>Cyberjets
yessssss
If these figures don't have a color changing gimmick and squirt guns it'll be a 0/10.
>>5329028
Blindfire is nice. Straightforward and dynamic. Even with the partsforming I like the weapons and alt mode so much I don't care. I would really like the Ripper repaint but its going for way too much now. I had to fight with him for about 5 minutes before I figured out you push on the thrusters to expand the legs. I wouldn't say the wing kibble is bad at all. It's your typical fold against the legs standard.
My favorite of the bunch is Sonic Drill. Even though his transformation scheme feels like the designer is jerking themselves off over how many times they can flip and hinge a torso into a flat block, he ends up looking sleek in alt mode. Have to fanmode the kibble in robot mode.
The other 3 aren't worth it unless you need them to combine.
Hey /toy/, I've got some questions on 3rd party stuff. Only got into collecting shit recently, and I currently have no 3rd party Transformers. I've been looking at some of the Iron Factory stuff.
Is the Scout & Sniper (ie: Soundwave and Perceptor) set any good? Are there any you'd reccommend out of hand?
>>5330850
Oh, and how big are the 'bots in that set? No one seems to say in their descriptions of it. They don't look too big. Legends or Deluxe size maybe?
>>5330859
All their non-upgrade kit stuff is Legends scale. I don't know if the sniper and scout set is even out at most places, but they're remolds of Sonictech and Fellows (Blaster) who has been out for a while and he's the size of Legends Powerglide.
>>5330881
Ah, damn. Is there a reason they make their figures so small? Thats quite a bit for just Legends sized stuff.
>>5330859
Legends size bro. that size class is Iron Factory's forte.
I've heard good things about the Blaster mold (who perceptor and soudnwave are repainted from). Comes with alot of weapons and accessories and nice articulation from what i heard.
The alt modes are the weakest part, it just sorta folds up into nothing
I'm more excited about Iron Factory's Optimus and Black Shadow!
>>5330888
Because not many people do good Legends toys. the reason they cost so much is because of the accessories or if they're big (like magnus or overlord)
Their Windblade toy is small and comes with one accessory, she just costs 20 bucks
>>5329866
These don't turn into anything, right?
>>5330897
Top notch.
>>5330890
aw yis
>>5330324
There's no need to make new Cyberjets though, they still totally hold up against modern legends.
3rd party omega prime with good proportions and less fragility when?
>>5330984
Yes, but we could do with some more Cyberjet style figures.
Different aircraft, play with the transformations a bit, but keep the translucent t-visors, balls joints everywhere and simple transformations.
All new characters. Just more.
>>5330889
>>5330890
speaking of 3rd Party Legends scale figures, has anyone made a checklist or spreadsheet listing all of them, cause I'll admit I'm contemplating getting into those(along with official Legends/Cyberverse scale figures and larger size class figures that fit well with them), but looking up this sort of info is kinda a pain in the ass
>>5331135
yeah the best thing we have is Wikialpha. and Legends toys arent so prevalent that they'll just get a list like Devastator and the Dinobots
>>5330837
Cool, thanks.
>>5330113
I wish. Steelcore and the Glacialbots were basically it, right? I'd love to see some third-party imagine up a character that is original but looks like they belong.
>>5332062
>I'd love to see some third-party imagine up a character that is original
Well Cassy Sark is making a new line-
>but looks like they belong.
Never mind
I've been looking at some of the 3rd Party Predaking figures. Beyond most of them being ridiculously expensive, how are they? Anyone have any experience with them?
How is War Lord in particular?
>>5332318
War lord is good, but the thinnest of the predakings, most fokks prefer the mania king for it being 25lbs of beef.
>>5332387
Mania King appears to be a Galvatron?
>>5332425
He meant Feral Rex.
Warlord is the simple man's 3P Predaking. He does what he needs to and has the easiest time fitting into a Transformers display.
>>5332430
Yeah, unfortunately, I am not made of money, not by a looooooong shot. Which is why I was looking at War Lord. Since he's the cheapest by several hundred dollars, but he's still ridiculously expensive.
How is the articulation on him? Is he at least as good as the current Combiner Wars individual figures and their gestalts?
>>5332435
His range looks something like this. Also your War Lord will most likely not come with two big swords.
Dang these are old pictures. I should dust off War Lord sometime.
>>5332444
That looks pretty good. And yeah I was wondering why yours had 2 swords, the sets of them people sell (BBTS for example) looks like they only come with 1 sword.
>>5332435
Warlord is pretty much serviceable in all aspects. That's what makes him appealing; it's also why he has trouble making headway. Like, pretty much every component of Feral Rex is a really neat standalone figure, and they combine into a shelf-destroying mammoth, but War Lord is just kind of "okay, here are some five robots I guess, and they can combine into this big warlord guy, grrrr." It's a first outing, so that's to be expected, but don't expect to be wowed by any aspect of it. You'll pretty much never end up displaying the team, because the individual robots are generally pretty unambitious.
>>5332447
Random fuck up. My torso bot box came with doubles of the accessories but no figure. So I kept one of the big swords before shipping it back.
>>5332452
They actually look like they fit in with proper Transformers though. They don't look overly detailed or "stand out" too much, at least from the pics I'm looking at, which is good. A 3rd party you can't tell apart from the real thing is a very good thing to me.
I am concerned with how the wings on the bird are though. They snap off of some really thing looking circular pegs. Is there a possible breakage issue there? Will they stand up to time and wear?
>>5332435
>TFW getting Feral Rex complete for $350
I love him. I'm not even a huge combiner fan, but I've been eyeing Feral Rex for a while and jumped on that price.
I kinda dig War Lord. His sword is pretty.
>>5332466
I have heard of fragility issues on Divebomb's wings but I've always treated them carefully when unclipping them and haven't had a problem yet.
>>5332452
I'm really liking the look of that Divebomb. How are the others? I remember Tantrum and Headstrong looking pretty boring.
>>5330113
People aren't going to spend enough money on nobody new characters to make it worth the effort. Makings toys of characters we already know and like is a sure seller.
>>5330335
No, retard. G1 drawn today would still be simple, solid blocks if they used the same designs but used quality animation studios.
>>5332482
The bull and rhino are a bit bland, but Rampage is my favorite. He's the closest to a true Hasbro Deluxe back in the quality days.
These guys are fun together.
Does anyone know if the Perfect Effect's Bruticus hand upgrades will be compatible with legends Shockwave?
>>5332675
it should be. The PE hands can hold a 5mm post, same as the hasbro hands/feet.
>>5332691
I'm worried about the extra post that hasbro decided to add for seemingly no reason, as detailed in >>5332667
>>5332675
>>5332476
I sold mine for about that price iirc. He's really neat and all the individual figures were cool, but I needed the money more than the robot. Don't miss him too badly though, which seems to be the case with all the MMC figures I've had and sold so far.
>>5333063
You might have been the one I bought it from.
Hexatron gets a lot of flak for his detailing, but he's easily My favorite 3P figure, and I got the stealth Azalea and the Salvia Prominon, both of which I like a lot too. The only Reformatted figure I've had any issues with was Cynicus.
I'll probably pick up Impactor. I really like Seraph Prominion but that $200 tag is a real killer.
>>5333068
I liked Hexatron too, but sold him. I've got Salvia, she's nice, but after playing with her for a week I haven't picked her up off the shelf.
Impactor and the black version look really nice, however I really don't like the curved, organic look of seraph. really don't like. so at least that's saving my wallet.
>>5333070
>Salvia
What? Like the drug?
>>5333082
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=MMC10026&mode=retail I didn't make this shit up m8
>>5333084
Kek. I want to see someone review that figure while ON salvia.
Should I buy that KO Feral Rex that's coming out soon?
>>5333082
All the MMC arcee molds are named after flowering plants, only one type of Salvia is a drug.
>>5333068
>The only Reformatted figure I've had any issues with was Cynicus.
What happened? I have him and enjoy him, only thing I think I've heard about them that was bad was some guy here broke the hands on his.
I want to get this fucker but i hope its quality is better than the hercules ko, will look good next to cw devy
>>5334078
:D It's so big! I want it.
>>5333819
First there was a crack on his crotch where the plate slides in, then the screw on the other end of that plate stripped, and then his right hand split in half.
I contacted MMC, and they did say they will send replacement parts.
>>5334107
Fuck that's terrible dude, sorry to hear that. I'll be extra careful with mine now I guess. Did this just happen or is there something I should be watching for?
>>5334165
I noticed the crack the second time I transformed him. Put him down for a month or two, when I picked him up again, the screw stripped and hand broke within minutes of each other. Right after I emailed MMC about the issues.
I noticed other people having QC issues with Cynicus too. Of course, they also say the same for Fortis' buttplate, but I have no issues there.
I think Vulcun is the best thing I got all year. Unlike most of the bots I'm starting to prefer him in alt mode.
>>5334431
What a handsome mug.
I would get Vulcan in a heartbeat if I wasn't strapped for cash this month. I already have the other four dinobots.
>>5334431
Fuuck he looks so good
I wont be getting mine until the PE Bruitcus set is in stock though...
>>5334078
Is that an oversized Feral Rex KO?
>still no drill hands for titan devy
>still no transformable cab for leader magnus
>>5335139
Yes.
>>5333068
Terminus was awesome for a long time on the shelf. He looked great standing above everyone. Eventually the isdues started to get more glaring, mainly the detailing, small hands, shit thumb, poor feet stability, and lackluster altmodes got to me.
Salvia Prominon in still awesome, fiddle with it on my desk all the time. Easily my favorite toy at the moment, so much posability.
>>5333139
There's two apparently. One OS one that looks simplified and hollow to hell, but only like 70 usd (converted straight from chinese yen).
There's another, well known, KO company working on making a 1:1 ko too. In both nero and og colors. They're a well established Saint Seya ko company and own their own factory to keep costs down. They'll be ~25 usd each supposedly.
>>5335244
$25 a piece? I can definitely get behind that. Any other info on that 1/1 KO?
>>5332544
I'm glad I'm not the only one that think's TrashTalk's head sculpt was crap compared to Hasbro's. I feel the same way about RearEnd's actually.
>>5335571
Trash Talk's was off but Rear-End is a nearly perfect match for early mtmte Tailgate's head. I can see why you might not like it though since the current art does seem to have changed.
Behold: Ass Kiwi mode.
>>5335729
>Chirping intensifies
>>5335729
Looks like he getting ready to eat some Pikmin.
Debating selling my Warbotron Not Bruticus.
Love him but fuck he's too big and I have nowhere to display him
>>5335729
Glorious.
>>5335729
Just opened my Quantron - holy shit these bot modes are great
>>5335251
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/1057129-metal-club-version-ko-mmc-feral-rex.html
It's about 27, my bad. Note that that will probably be higher if you're not in China unless you do a group-buy thing thatva bunch of people did for the OS Evasion Optimus Prime.
>>5335729
My, what a handsome fellow.
As a gay boy myself, tailgate is not gay until they say so, chromedome/rewind are.
>>5335729
Thanks anon, I needed a laugh
>>5336129
Never even saw him and Cyclonus as romantic, but more of a sibling relationship. Cyclonus has seen and done shit. Tailgate lost most of the time he had in "underground stasis". His death was a good death.
I got some store credit built up at BBTS.
Iron Factory's Overlord - yes or no?
>>5332544
>using the worst head sculpt
>>5336178
fuck yeah my man, he's great
>>5336178
He's really good, I love mine. Also, I know some places are out of the early-bird incentive swords he used to come with but I ordered mine at the beginning of December from BBTS and still got one so you might get lucky.
>>5336178
YES
>>5335946
>higher price if you're not in china
How much more you think we're talking here? To the point I'm just better off buying War Lord instead?
>>5336278
These aren't super high quality KOs like WeiJiang's stuff, so don't expect huge markups. If they're advertising $27 a pop, you may be paying ~$40 a pop before shipping.
>>5335946
Oh Metal Club makes good shit. All of their stuff is readily avalible on aliexpress, so it shouldn't be that much more expensive.
Out of all the KO companies to tackle 3p I'm glad it's Metal Club their EX gold saints are great.
>>5332544
you've made the perfect Swerve. bravo, sir
>>5337091
I like how the fake windshield pecs get the movie flames when the alt mode has none. They really polished the mold.
>>5337091
I like the upgrades, just wish they had done some more mods to the truck to make it more accurate.
>>5337312
> tfsource exclusive version 2.
So, CW Defensor's original head on perfect effect's upgrade: yay or nay ? I'd like to buy it to fix his hips, but I love the metallic horns.
Anyone here have Anarchus/Kaon yet? I heard they had started shipping.
Are there any good 3rd party Dinobot's that won't rape my wallet in a dark alleyway? I'm just looking for stuff to go with my G1-deco FoC Grimlock.
And on the top of cheap 3rd party stuff, are there any good, cheap ones? Everything I see seems to be overpriced as a motherfucker.
>>5336268
Who is he supposed to be anyway? He doesn't look recognizable to me.
>>5337958
man, the guy said his name, it's Overlord
>>5335946
You're also wrong that it is simplified. The hands and feet are, but the figures themselves are the same, just upsized.
Hey guys, I got my Rear End with a loose hip swivel and it's been kind of bugging me. He can still stand and hold positions, but posing him the hip swivel is so noticeably loose.
I bought him off BBTS; do you think it's worth it to ask for a replacement piece? I kind of feel bad since it seems like such a small issue; although it is bugging me.
>>5337989
Just use glue or nail polish on the joint? if that dont work then ask for a replacement
>>5329866
Why can't we get this kind of execution with third parties?
Sentinel takes old robots and revamps them all the time, and they never look weird, they never look overdone, and they never stray too much from the source
maybe i'm expecting too much? but sentinels prices are actually pretty similar to 3P companies. I don't know, its just a thought
>>5337989
I think that's normal. The ankle balljoints and hip mushroom pegs were super loose on mine, I've got pledge curing on them right now.
>>5338009
That thing transforms? Pics?
>>5338009
I feel like most third parties don't actually have good artists and designers, just good "3D modelers," if that makes sense. They can add rectangles to surfaces and know how to engineer a transformation but have no sense of style and color. That's why you get things like Quantron.
Wow these upgrades really breath new life into this set!
>>5338065
>>5338069
>I heard you like upgrade sets so I put an upgrade set in your upgrade set so you can upgrade set while you upgrade set
>>5338027
alt mode's pretty. Articulation's good, too
>>5337091
Will they KO the DX9 Ginrai Upgrade Kit for this?
>>5338069
Not really feeling it. Adding even more partsforming onto an already partsforming heavy set...eh.
>>5338069
>upgrade kit for an upgrade kit for old ass shitty energon toys that aren't accurate to the G1 characters
>costs $95
I don't see the point of this. The CW/UW version with the PE add ons is right there and it's so much better.
>>5338009
Perfect Effect and Master Made are the two closest things we have but they do widely divergent takes from the source material. I really would like a company to go for the super stylized G1 look. Ocular Max hasn't delivered like I hoped.
>>5337955
For Dinobots? No. Not until one line underperforms so bad it has to go on sale. Interestingly none of them seem to be doing that but Bullsfire's swoop. The only ones that go with FoC grimlock are Planet X's, and they just toppled the original FOC mold many times over with Vulcun.
There are some older budget priced third party things. We had a list going but Black Friday had a number of decent deals.
>>5338036
We have this perception that these people are professionals, but really they're not.
Along with the whole demographic thing, I think this is the main reason they stick to G1 toys.
It's an interesting discussion.
>They can add rectangles to surfaces and know how to engineer a transformation but have no sense of style and color
i feel this is a good description for Cassy Sark
Got Kaon today.
Based MMC. They have put out three winners in a row as far as I'm concerned.
>>5337955
You can always get Iron Factoy's FOC grimlock upgrade.
Pretty cheap. gives you a new head, a rifle, wings, and covers the gap in dino mode
>>5338090
I look at it as another option for those that already have that set and the CW/UW dose nothing for them. While individually they don't hold up well in combined mode they look good with CW/UW.
>>5338090
>The CW/UW version with the PE add ons is right there and it's so much better.
The CW versions have several mistake including:
a) badly designed Brawl (I know he is an anti-aircraft tank in the Energon version)
b) a Swindle that is bulkier than than the others.
c) jet plane Blastoff
And the paint apps for the Hasbro version are pretty bad imo for Brawl and Vortex and Swindle.
All in all the two versions come out pretty much even.
>>5338114
Fun fact: Energon Brawl's vehicle mode (the Flakpanzer Gepard) is actually the AA version of the tank the original Brawl toy turned into- the Leopard.
>>5338122
That's actually pretty interesting, i love shit like that. Like how Prime Wheeljack is based on a modern Lancia Startos. it shows the designers care
>>5338122
It's also the same model for Killbison. Guess someone at Takara has a hard-on for post-War German Arms.
>>5338114
Brawl's waist doesn't transform properly but at least it actually LOOKS like Brawl. And the fuckton of partsforming needed for the combined mode is so offputting. I have FP Bruticus and liked it for a while but the UW version will blow it out of the water.
>>5338105
Fuuuuuuuck I'm so excited, more pics if you feel up to it? Is the plastic quality better than Cynicus?
>>5338168
>Fuuuuuuuck I'm so excited, more pics if you feel up to it? Is the plastic quality better than Cynicus?
I think this figure was made in the same factory as Spartan / Turmoil. It shares the same super high quality feel. I mean you can literally pick him up and shake him and nothing moves. Might be my favorite 3p release this year.
He has so many gimmicks man. The spider drone is just awesome, all the legs have two points of articulation, a ball joint at the base, and a hinge half way. Plus you can mount the gun on it.
The electric chairs helmet can flip out of Kaons backpack in bot mode so that he can pick someone up and electrocute them or maybe use it as a cannon.
Plus, the chair can expand and shrink to fit really any size figure. The engineering is top notch man.
What am I ever gonna do with an electric chair I said......
>>5338279
>>5338105
Are those Tamashii's electric parts? I might need em. I think he has canonically has pink lightning but IIRC the parts only come in yellow and blue. Also how is the junk in the trunk for Robot mode?
>>5338081
Probably not. This is basically a new figure, so much was changed from the original that it's barely a ko.
>>5338290
>Are those Tamashii's electric parts?
Yeah. I really like them, I use them more than any of the other effects.
>> how is the junk in the trunk for Robot mode?
He has a backpack for sure, but it's not obnoxious.
>>5338365
Well, he is part of a team, so there's that. Some people will buy it just to round out their DJD.
>>5338375
Oh, I know. The funny thing is that he's actually one of the easier sells compared to what the last two are probably going to cost. Those fuckers are huge.
>>5338379
they can probably have dual use molds for the last two.
>>5338365
It is kind of a novelty. There aren't many Transformers that have divergent non-vehicle alt modes anymore, let alone turns into a chair that you can put other figures on. Tarn will sell like gangbangers if they make him less shitty looking than the renders now. It's the other two that may face problems.
Still, one turns into a smelting chamber with little grabby arms and the other uses his vehicle treads as a convener belt to feed robots into his chest grinder. I don't even give a fuck about the team and that sounds rad as fuck.
>>5338279
Ok this does look really fucking cool, I'm sorely tempted.
>>5338375
>Well, he is part of a team, so there's that. Some people will buy it just to round out their DJD.
This. I don't really care too much about the last two, Tesarus and Helex but I really like how the DJD looks as a whole group so I'm gonna spring for them if they aren't outrageously expensive. Hoping they can keep them around $150 each but that may be dreaming.
>>5338421
>Tarn will sell like gangbangers if they make him less shitty looking than the renders now.
They do really need to retouch those most recent renders. They're so close to being amazing but they're not quiet there yet. Here's hoping.
>>5338375
Overlord's doing his best Nigel Thornberry impression there.
>>5337091
I have a sinking feeling that this guy is going to be dreadfully expensive. If it turns out as well as it looks I'd gladly sell off my RoTF Leader and original AoE Voyager to make room for it.
So my buddy got me this for Christmas and I am not really sure where these dinobots fit, do they fit the MP or the CHUG?
>>5338375
Overlord guest drawn by whoever does the art for Squirrel Girl
>>5339239
CHUG. Way too small for MP. They're all about Leader Class/large Voyager Class, plus the aesthetics (love them or hate them) fit more with CHUG than with MP.
>>5338375
You think that they'll do a set release of the whole DJD or am I gonna have to start buying them before they sell out?
>>5339298
Oh I knew it. I was scurrying the net but nobody really was talking about their scale for it. Well I should get all of them cause they will really fit when I make a decent display with my CW Devy.
>>5339837
>set release of the whole DJD
It would make sense in most cases. But the two big DJD members are just SO huge. Tesarus and the blue guy, they're three times as big as Tarn, so I don't know if it's viable to do them as a set?
>>5339854
Hey, if you do dig FP's Dinobots, then by all means. A lot of people have been shitting on them, and while I'm all in on the whole set (probably minus the 6th OC member) and I do like them, they aren't without their flaws. Sludge was a nice start but feels a bit underengineered compared to Slag. Slag is fantastic in both modes buuuuut getting him back and forth (robot to dino in particular) gets a bit messy with the amount of shit moving around and you end up with clearance issues. Swoop is alright. His bot mode looks great and it was awesome of them to include both a blue and red torso so you could choose comics/cartoon or G1 toy colors but his dino mode is pretty wonky. I can't knock him too hard for that considering how much everybody has been struggling to make a decent avian from, but he seemed to have been the tipping point for a lot of people to jump off the FansProject dino train early. I'd recommend looking for pics of him, and more importantly, their Grimlock before deciding to get the rest of the team. I personally think it's a cool re-imagining but the design has been pretty polarizing.
>>5339960
I've actually seen all of them in person. I was in TFcon last July since I live literally 1 bus away from the place where it's held and I always liked the their designs but I couldn't justify their Canadian price tag. It was by coincidence that a person I know was selling it for $95 Canadian and my buddy offered to get me a Christmas gift that is under $100 so everything worked out fine. Now I just have to find them on decent deals.
>>5339854
>>5340061
FYI the scale is also similar with the TW Dinos so if you want to mix and match, you can do that since some of the FP ones didn't turn out very well. There is also the Planet X ones that are based on the Fall of Cybertron video game designs which are on a similar or smaller scale (for Slag and Swoop).
>>5340099
But the TW is a combiner and if I get one I will have to get all of them. I do kinda like most of the aesthetics of the LER stuff and I would pose them in dino mode for the most part so I probably would just stick to one brand but if any I might get the FoC Grimlock of Planet X.
>>5340099
Speaking if the Planet X Grimlock, Emgo just posted a review of it about 1 hour ago
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7osLmcVLT0
>>5340143
>if I get one I will have to get all of them.
Why?
I mean I just get the Dinos I think look good.
>>5340174
Cause combiners are for the better lack of it, if I get one usually I get all of them for the sake of me keeping them in combined mode even though if they are better individually. That's why I only stick to one line at a time especially if the other line is a combiner but if its like regular stuff that isn't combiner related I could switch them up. Thats why I could buy most of the LER stuff then mix it with planet x or something but if I get the TW I will have to get everything cause its a combiner.
>>5339877
Even if they sell them at $100 each as a set (which they won't), that's still $500. Damn. I'm too poor for this game.
I think toyworld is using a new designer / designers for this set.
Notice the individually articulated fingers.
>>5340222
As much as I like Generation toys constructicons, I think I like these just a little more on aesthetics alone.
>>5336231
MT's headsculpt is terrible. Hasbro's toy does one thing completely right, it's the head. Looks straight from the comic.
>>5340256
I wish they'd come in CW deluxe sizes.
>>5340222
those aren't anything special, they are literally gundam MG 2.0 hands from the zeta 2.0, MKII 2.0, red/blue frames, etc. still like them though.
>>5340473
needs updating
>>5340368
>add on kit for an add on kit
We need to go deeper
>>5340368
Does anyone actually want this? It may have been good a few years ago, but there's really no point for it now with CW Bruticus and Warbotron.
>>5340475
>those aren't anything special
Oh, I'm not saying they are special or anything, I just wanted to point them out because its not something that Toyworld has done before. It's just one of the many things that make me think they are using a new designer for this set.
Also, took some pics of Wrath today. Hes got a custom head and gatling guns by Killinger Kustoms.
>>5340520
Robot to dino mode was a fucking nightmare.
>>5340524
Dino mode sure is pretty though.
>>5340524
What made it so difficult? Most Grimmy transformations tend to be the same.
Nice pic, by the way. The arms are a little thin for my tastes, though.
>>5340534
>What made it so difficult?
Transforming the feet into the tail. There is a bunch of parts that swing out and around and everything needs to be aligned and tabbed perfectly.
Or maybe I'm a just a tard. Thats also a distinct possibility.
>Nice pic, by the way. The arms are a little thin for my tastes, though.
Thanks! I dont mind the arms so much, they have decent range. I prefer what Planet X did with there's though.
>>5340519
Like I said I see it as another option.
Blue Lightning or Yellow Lightning for Anarchus? I can't decide.
>>5340621
I got my payment request for mine. Being Canadian is disgustingly expensive.
>>5340621
>Blue Lightning or Yellow Lightning for Anarchus? I can't decide.
Well, its purple / pink in the comic so I guess whichever one you like more.
>>5340621
How much does a lightning effect set run if I could ask?
>>5340724
I lucked out and got a set on amazon for about 20 shipped, but most of the US retailers have them for 23 or so before shipping. Importing them isn't really better because the box they come in is pretty huge.
>>5340724
BBTS has them for $23 for a set.
And speaking of spending money on stuff you don't need, are there any good 3rd party Dinobots that destroy my wallet?
>>5340812
That DON'T destroy my wallet, I mean.
>>5337091
Pretty cool that the transformation cheats allow for a full-g1 alt mode and full-movie bot mode including decos.
>>5340814
A $30 model kit that turns out to be a pretty GOAT legends grimlock is about all you get. Everyone else is about $70-$100 for voyager sized and $200 for larger than leader scale.
Looks like more WFC/FOC. That's Planet X, Second Chance, and Guilty. Plus Shapeshift for legends.
Still want to see some Ironhide/Ratchets at voyager scale and pulled from the game designs.
big
>>5340626
I hear that, brotha.
>>5338036
>That's why you get things like Quantron
It's funny you would mention that, as I think Maketoys does some of the best redesigns among all third parties. Different strokes I guess.
>>5340520
I watched Skullface's review for this; the partsforming going between robot and dino mode killed it for me. A shame because I like the design overall.
Can't wait to get these two in the mail.
>>5341531
I understand why the arms are they way they are, but with the cannon his forearm just looks outrageously huge
>>5341276
Never look at a G1 Seeker then, if partsforming triggers you.
>>5341259
Maketoys is great when they do their combiners. For most 3rd parties, they have no comprehension of the bigger picture. So the gestalt ends up looking like a bit of an awkwardly proportioned mess of parts. See Warbotron, Hercules. With MT I don't really get that.
>>5341531
>someone saved my picture
>>5341227
I still think that price is ludicrous for a toy that is legends scale, has to be put together, and isn't even painted like it has been in all the promo shots.
What's the best paint to use for this? Is there a good spray paint I can buy and just give all the gray parts a quick spray while they're still on the sprue?
>>5340368
Nice. Usually I'd LOL at an add-on for an add-on, but this looks nice, and it's still the best version of Bruticus we've gotten.
>>5341735
Tamiya makes a nice spray lacquer.
If you spray them on spruce, your going to get marks when you cut it out of the gate. Your best bet is to cut them out of the gate, then tape them all to a peice of card board and spray them like that.
By tape them to card board, I mean you take a long piece of tape, connect both ends of the tape together so that you basically have a circle of tape (sticky side out). Now you take your tape circle and put it on the card board so that you have a strip of tape that you can stick the parts you want to be painted on.
I hope that makes since. I can put together a demo and take a picture if you want.
MMC Killed it with this release.
>>5341856
Initially I didn't really give a fuck about the character, but I I wanted a complete DJD so I went ahead and picked him up.
>>5341861
MMC did a great job of packing in gimmicks though.
>>5341877
I really like the spider drone.
>>5341881
Electric chair mode is pretty cool. The chair adjusts for different size figures. As it turns out, I a distinct lack of autobots. Droid will have to do.
>>5341884
Honestly the scorpion mode feels more like a fan mode than a legit alt mode. Like, I can imagine someone at MMC being like, "Can we really make a figure that just turns into a chair?".
Its a secondary alt mode though, so you cant really complain.
>>5341891
Only two minor complaints. The first being that he lacks thigh swivels. He has a swivel at the knee, but it looks kind of awkward with his leg swiveled there.
>>5341895
The second being that he has torso crunch, which is great, but only about 25 degrees of rotation left or right at the waist.
>>5341897
Overall I'd give him a 7.5 out of 10.
I really like him, but if your not collecting the DJD, its probably an easy skip.
I just picked up PC-04 today, and was wondering, what are the two posts on the back of menasor's torso for?
>>5341554
That's not even that big. It's supposed to be even bigger.
>>5341554
>but with the cannon his forearm just looks outrageously huge
>>5342052
>It's supposed to be even bigger.
I have it on pretty good authority that someone already has a more comic accurate cannon in the works.
Will PE make new parts for Defensor? I don't like the weird scars the stock toy has on the face.
>>5342034
That might be what lets you store the sword on his back?
>>5342085
holy hell how big are Turmoil and his buddies supposed to be? Preceptor looks ridiculously small in comparison.
>>5342177
Nope, if anything they block the angles that the sword can be posed in. Here's a shitty pic showing what I am asking about.
>>5342336
>>5341729
If that's you Ender, then I love your photography. How do you rate Commotus and Spartan? I'm really excited to be getting them soon. They look fantastic.
>>5342546
>How do you rate Commotus and Spartan?
It's me. Glad you like my photos :)
I like them both a lot. As far as 3rd party bots go, they are among my favorites. I like Commotus a little more than Spartan just because I'm a decepticon fan, but Spartan is arguable the better toy. He comes with more accessories, and more paint apps. Of course with a little blue paint, you can fill in Commotus's paint apps yourself.
>>5342566
>Commotus
Where do I actually get this guy?
>>5342566
I wish his arms and torso were not so weedy.
I really enjoyed Victory, so how is this guy? I have a bunch of Autobot combiners but only one Decepticon via Feral Rex, so I wanted another non-CW to beef out the group.
I don't have that many Decepticons period now that I think about it..
>>5342591
BBTS has him in stock.
>>5340476
which ne comes in yellow and red and white again?
>>5342687
Maketoys Giant comes in yellow and TFC Hercules has the red and white repaint.
Should I take the plunge and purchase Terminus Hexatron?
He would be my first 3rd party Transformer, and I'm a pretty big fan of Sixshot.
I've seen some reviews and he seems pretty fucking cool.
Btw, should I get Justitoy's World's Smallest Sixshot as well to complete the holy Sixshot trinity?
>>5342630
I have the first three and I like them. But there are some issues. First and foremost, they are just plain overpriced for what you get. They are not complex or large enough to cover the cost, in my own opinion. I still like them, but you got to eat that cost (and lets not even mention the shells). As for the toys, they're pretty good, but nothing groundbreaking. They have good articulation and look nice, but they are a bit simple, and there are a few finishing touches that I feel could have been added (like flaps to cover up fist compartments, etc. They feel a little unpolished, or a little rushed.
I hope I'm not coming across too down on them, I really do like them, but I think you have to be a Dinoking fan. They're just not good enough a value proposition to draw in a random person otherwise.
>>5343050
I've got the Greatshot version and he's pretty great. Go watch a review and you'll get most of the ins and outs of him. As for build quality, he's probably the best built third party toy I've handled.
>>5343073
I do like him, maybe not as much as Leokaiser, but they were entertaining to watch. But again its my favorite (Japanese) G1 season.
>>5343076
If you like Liokaiser more, you might want to wait a little bit and see how TFC's version turns out. It looks like it will be their best work. I'm going to get their Hellbat to have the character even if the full set ends up not being great.
>>5343078
I at least want to get a Leozack from that. The Hellbat looks fantastic, the rest are pretty good. I'm worried the combiner form is a little average.
What are some of the best third party Decepticons?
>>5343133
Well, there's the various Devastators, pick your poison.
There's Ordin, the Abominus, who looks okay, but I think the Blot and Hun-Gurr are the real highlights.
Function X's Decepticons are all good, with Weirdwolf probably the best so far. Their Snapdragon and Apeface will be even better, whenever they actually get released.
Iron Factory's little Overlord looks pretty great for a legends-scale dude.
The recently released MMC Turmoil looks great and the Impactor version of the mold has gotten great reviews.
>>5342630
>I really enjoyed Victory, so how is this guy
I'd assume if you liked Victory, you won't like this guy's aesthetic. Cause the individual robots are very much not show accurate
For example, Dinooni is black, but he's based on Kakuryu, who's gold
>>5343050
The aesthetic isn't for everyone. I love Sixshot, and that thing barely fuckin looks like him to me.
I'm just waiting until someone else makes him
I do have WST Sixshot, VERY fun to fiddle with. perfect replica and good diecast content. Only bad thing about it is that you can't peg the guns on the roof in car mode, at least on my copy
>>5343159
Yeah, the FP guys are much more in line with the toys. They also look a bit badass/intimidating, which as we know, isn't what the Dinoforce were in Victory. I'm happy to have any Dinoforce, but I'm will to say that these are not the "masterpiece" style of cartoon accuracy.
>>5342251
Agreed, great pictures.

Oversize Evasion Prime review
Those hip ratchets make me feel funny in my pants.
>>5343050
Unless you're wanting him for MP, pass. He's just way too big.
>>5343551
>ball jointed wrist with tilt
Why the fuck aren't more Turds doing this sort of thing?
Is this little fuck worth the price tag? I want a good Swindle and i'm not feeling the Hastak one. Doesn't even have a shit eating grin! C'mon now.
>>5343808
Well he's a large Voyager so he'll look a bit out of scale with CHUG.
>>5343808
The higher quality than the original Ko set is on alibaba for 128 if you want it.
>>5343828
Where can I find it?

Does this guy fit in with other CHUG?
