FYI, TRU has Joe packs for $5 off in store (so the two packs are 10, etc). Relatedly, I finally found a shadow guard set, so that's cool.

HOLY SHIT please tell me the name of this skeleton spider? i need this thing. What is this from? a set? a separated thing?
>>

Without their vests, the RoC Vipers aren't bad figures at all. Especially if you throw on some goggles or a helmet of some kind. Personally, I use RoC vipers for my MARS infantry and vehicle pilots, while the Iron Grenadiers act as Destro's Elite Guard.

The RoC Vipers also make great basic body upgrades for a lot of Cobra figures as well imo.

https://www.spirithalloween.com/product/24-5-wide-skeleton-spider/102162.uts?keyword=skeleton%20spider&thumbnailIndex=2&Search=Find+It

It's got wire-pose legs, there's also one with joints that's even bigger.
https://www.spirithalloween.com/product/42-wide-posable-giant-skeleton-spider/102764.uts?keyword=skeleton%20spider&thumbnailIndex=3&Search=Find+It

Offhand, no idea how that one is, looks like it's only got swivel joints at the base of the legs so it might be shit.

Next wave of SHODO figures. As expected, they are reusing the the "tracksuit" body quite a bit. The Shocker Kaijin seems like a completely new mold though.

My TRUs had shit when i went on monday or tuesday. Yesterday i went again and they had a single Iron Grenedier and Steel whatever pack.
So they're disappearing fast, even the Storm Shadow and Shipwreck packs. A shame the vehicle packs aren't on sale, but , they're still a good deal anyway, so I'm going back tomorrow to buy the desert whatever set.

The only sets I haven't seen at TRU yet is the Gung Ho pack. I almost forget it that it exists.

Lighting. I can say, the more. The better.

Here is a standard room lighting pic.

iso is higher, around 400, or else would be too dark. Use the shutter speed to help balance out the brightness to taste.

I like Village People type of gay as I like Blue oyster type of gay, as a comedic parody.

The same way I like traditional depiction of black people in 50s cartoon because its funny but I don't think a contemporary or sci-fi soldier should look like a 50s black guy in cartoons.
>>

All my pictures are taken with my phone. It has a decent macro mode so it's able to focus well up close. The only lighting available is the room's LED lamp directly above. As you know, lighting is key, but the room's light does not provide adequate light. I compensate that by
>Increasing exposure
>Putting a piece of white paper below to reflect the light back up
>Increasing ISO. This leads to grainier pictures but the effect can be reduced by taking smaller pictures (you don't really need 5 megapixel giant blurry photos when posting on 4chan)

best gung ho coming through.

looks a little dated by today's standards, but what a cool design. nice camo pants, and it looks like he just ripped the sleeves off his marine dress blues jacket, no fucks given. that's very in character to me.

he was also among the first figures to have swivel wrists, working soft holster, and removable vest/webgear.

I'm always looking for nice civilian figures in this scale. I haven't found a lot, but there are:

Marvel Universe--
Luke Cage
Mary Jane Watson
Absorbing Man (you'll have repaint either his prison pants or his mutie skin)
Professor X
Storm (mohawk & punk outfit version)
Drax (he's green tho)
Wolverine/Logan (X-Men Origins: Wolverine line)
Sabretooth (ditto)
Thunderstrike, kinda (Marvel Infinite)
Chameleon (Marvel Infinite)

Joes that could be civilians with minimal modding:
Shipwreck (50th, Hunt for Cobra Commander)
Joe Colton (Retaliation)
Tunnel Rat, maybe (Renegades)
Law (Renegades)

The Golden Compass had some 3-4" figures, though most of them are dressed for winter. I always look at the Doctor Who figures, but I think they're too big to blend in with Joes.

Alpine. Was heavily featured in the GI Joe cartoon.

His action figure was packed with one of the DVD five-packs (the one with the "best of" DVD) that was ultra hard to find due stores not ordering it due to Hasbro putting out shitty five packs/dvd sets for the first couple of releases of the line that people didn't buy.

He was now re-issued as part of the 50th Anniversery figures, but with two additional ultra rares (Rock Viper and Shock Trooper) so he is hard to get.

The joe half is decent. Good reuse of body parts, nice loadout, colors that go with the rest of the 50th figures. On the other hand, the cobra figures are quite average and the orange theme doesn't fit anything else aside from Hazard vipers.

One issue is that the vehicles' canopies use gummy soft plastic and that makes them hard to close fully. Also, they have the same shitty QC of the 1st wave, you may want to inspect a few pieces in a physical shop before picking one up.

This isn't true.
I went through a couple just in case that was true, but they're all pretty standard QC from the PoC and before

But yeah, the cockpits are a bit hard to close because the plastic is rubbery, but i have no real problems beyond that.

As for the orange HISS, i just view it as a test vehicle.
I really like the figures beyond that

2015 is just about over; anyone heard anything about what we should expect for 2016?

I know the sub club is doing Pythona FINALLY plus White haired Outback and an "Inferno" BAT but that's about it.

Any word on what the Convention set for 2016 might be? Or what shit, if ANYTHING we might get at retail in any shape or form?
>>
>>5342973
At the rate things are going, with reissues, I would expect/suspect that we'll get a couple of two-three packs with more POC re-issues.

Assuming Zombie Viper is still banned from reissuing, there are still a bunch of hard to find figures they need to re-issue:

Renegades Airtight
Renegades Law and Order
Renegades Tunnel Rat
Renegades Cobra Shock Troopers

Sci-Fi
Lifeline

Plus there are the usual suspects, figures that were convention exclusives that fans have been demanding get a wide release at retail:

OG Jinx
OG Dial Tone
Zarana
Claymore
Footloose

Plus Python Patrol versions of the newer versions of the Viper and Cobra Trooper figures.
>>
>>5342978
Still shocked Dial Tone/Zarana has yet to get a retail release. They are two major figures who desperately need to be put out in a normal release.

More Concept case and some out of left field figure decos like the Grey camo guys from this year.

Also, probably a few reissues.
>>
>>5343022
What the fuck is left from the concept case? I don't think there is anything left of value except a bunch of no name freakshows that either can't be released (IE zombies) because of moral fags, and a bunch of generic scrubs I don't think Hasbro would want to release given how the line is barely staying afloat based upon nostalgia fags.
>>
To be fair, there is nothing really left they can reissue. Sure there are some Renegades shit that was hard to find they could re-release, but I doubt Hasbro wants to remind people of that shit.

Lifeline was just released as a convention set so he's out

Zombies are persona non grata and should not even be discussed in this thread as possible re-release. It's a dead end subject, it ain't fucking happening no matter how hard we pout and cry and thrash about.

If Hasbro was smart, they'd restart the whole Python Patrol/Tiger Force gimmick. Python Patrol got fucked up so badly that it deserves a proper redoing, especially now that they have updated versions of the Cobra Trooper and Viper figures, as >>5342978.

Similarly, they can redo god knows how many existing "name" characters in Tiger Force colors for the GI Joe side. Snake Eyes, Scarlet, Hawk, Lady Jaye, Shipwreck have never been done in Tiger Force colors.

True. I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing(should probably start learning), so I usually have to take several photos to get one to look okay. Here's some pics from 2012, the first is typical of what I'm capable of. I don't know what happened in the second, maybe it was cold and my hand fogged up the lens, but I haven't taken a pic like that again. The third I didn't care about, it was taken just in case someone wanted to know the source of the building.

I don't see why they wouldn't re-release zombie, considering the line right now is basically collectors only
>>
>>5344188
IIRC the zombie figure barely got released as it did in terms of it getting approved only after massive concessions were made to make it less scary (like the blue color) and even then Hasbro then declared "you will never be allowed to do anything like that again".

I would not be shocked if the only reason we got JoeCon zombies was because it was a big event and not retail.

ANY retail release will probably never see the light of day. Meaning you best press the fan club to push for more zombie figures as they are the only ones who can sell them.

Almost the same thing where I live. Regular stores didn't have them, but Tuesday Morning stores had some. Don't know where I found out about that. Ended up using their online SKU stock locator feature to see which stores had them.

Tuesday Morning stores are pretty scattered about here, so on a day off work I drove around hunting and was moderately successful. Reading back on Joe message boards, I wish there had been ROSS discount stores nearby when they were really getting Joes in.

Hunting around at closeout stores can be kinda fun, but it was nice being able to walk into Wal-Mart and get a decent Joe or Star Wars figure for about $7.

Honestly, they're not really worth the price. They have a lot of poseability, but that's thanks to the really lanky bodies and that brings down the look for them.
Vehicles are badass though. These are worth the money.
>>
>>5355624
They are expensive, but honestly I kind of just like supporting the brand. I'm glad there's another 1/18 scale line doing their own thing and Kit Lau seems like a cool guy. >>
>>5355305
From where I am from, joes are massively overpriced and acid rain figs are sold at srp. So they are about 2x the price of a desirable joe figure. Heck they are even cheaper than figures like the PoC Shocktrooper.

So my choices nowadays are to get any of the 50th double packs or to get an acid rain fig. Yeah Ill go for the acid rain one. Articulation and posed form looks so much better.

Also, I'm kind of bored of the typical "cobra" buck. It's not very good. I end up replacing most of my bodies with marauder ones anyway. See pic related.

Most Gi Joe bucks suffer from one or many of these problems: hands are horrible at holding guns, legs aren't of the same length, no wrist articulation. The popular firefly figure suffer from these two of these issues.

I got a set for 15 bucks, I think is the fisrt time ever being an eurofag was worth, usually I have to pay like twice the price for Joes.

Although I think I should stop expending money on toys and get a decent camera.
>>
>>5355305
True, but its a case of quantity vs quality. I use to think that way too, but now i'll buy the better figures. In my opinion.

If anybody's interested these 1:18 military toys seem to have been restocked, at least at one Dollar Tree in the Milwaukee, WI area. Don't know if that's true for other stores. The packaging for the riot gear is the same as the kayak set.

Also at Menard's they have what looks like a scaled down version of the True Heroes AB-115 Shark on clearance for I believe $15. Packaging said it was 22" long, don't know how well it would hold 1:18 figures.

The figures in these sets are like the single worst things I've ever seen. The accessories are pretty cool and worth the dollar.

I am always impressed by the accessories of these figures and have a World Peacekeepses chopper and Humvee but the figures.. man. zombie and corpse fodder.

There's a couple screws holding the figures together that can be reused. Other than that I dunno. On the plus side the kayak isn't bad. The oar is straight and not floppy. Guns are decent too, not like the rubbery noodles found in the PTE sets. A coat of flat spray paint might look good. Not bad for a dollar.

That "Atrocius color scheme" is iconic. That's how the original figure was colored
>>
>>5339001

I cant speak about the figures, as I bought the vehicles separately, But as far as the vehicles go, those are pretty decent.

The new railguns on the HISS are awesome. Don't like the orange HISS? The turret can easily be swapped with previous models.

The Skystriker is a good vehicle, and the colors are great. With custom labels from Cobrastickers, tit can make an awesome Night Force Nightboomer 2.0
>>
>>5342978
>Assuming Zombie Viper is still banned from reissuing,

Why would they do something like that? That's retarded. Zombie figures are practically like PRINTING money. People would be lined up around the corner to buy a reissue

Proof Hasbro is run by incompetents.
>>
>>5342973
>I know the sub club is doing Pythona FINALLY

Actually she's the sign-on bonus figure for joining.

>>Any word on what the Convention set for 2016 might be?

No. But tit will entail one or more of the following.

1 - Re-hashing a lineup made earlier with o-ring figures. (2002 Crimson Vipers, 2005 Iron Grenadiers)

2 - A RAH era sub-team, but badly done. Leaving out original members and shoehorning in new members that were never part of the lineup (Night Force Steeler, Eco Warrior Tjbang and Clutch), and getting the original members they do use colors wrong (Mission Brazil, Tiger Force Recondo. Eco Warrior Outback)

3 - Poor quality control

4 - Grotesquely overpriced as fuck.
>>
>>5342978
>OG Jinx
>OG Dial Tone
>Zarana
>Claymore
>Footloose

Maybe. But none of the versions issued at conventions. Perhaps a "Comic Pack" color Zarana

Seeing as how the original team members in the Convention Mission Brazil II are distinctly different than the vintage team, doing a vintage style team ought to be permissible. Use the concept vault Leatherneck, frankenstein better bodies for Claymore and Dial-Tone

With the Club issuing a Cobra Stinger jeep in Sears exclusive "Dreadnok Ground Assault" colors, Id love to see a retail set of the Dreadnok Ground Assault RAM cycle and the Dreadnok Air Assault Skyhawk and FANG copter packed together

Packed with

Comic Pack color Zarana
Supersonic Fighters color Road Pig
CLear concept case stealth Zartan

>Lifeline was just released as a convention set so he's out

Correction: Tiger Force Lifeline is out. A re-issue of the original use of the mold would still be possible

We do need a proper 50th Snake-Eyes, Like use the Retaliation Ultimate Snake-Eyes. Either as a straight up re-issue or in Sunbow colors

>> Hawk... Shipwreck have never been done in Tiger Force colors

Hawk was made in the 2004 TF vs Dreadnoks set. Granted it was supposed to be Zartan disguised as Hawk, but it still technically counts as a Hawk

TF Shipwreck was an FSS offering

A re-release of the female night watch troopers possibly with a variant head or two.
Also another dark skinned male and female.
a legit release of Shooter.

So im told this isn't actually 1/18 and that joes won't fit in it?

Not even the most flexible/slender ones?

I'm aching for 1/18 rides.

How do the corps/bootles vehicles go with Joes? You know, the mostly green plastic ones.

Generally, most play vehicles with accompanying 4" figures (or larger) are compatible with Joes. Pic is one of the jeep molds from Chap Mei, now released under TRU's True Heroes house brand.

The problem with Star Wars is that their figures are traditionally 3.75", a tad smaller. Open rides like the wheelbike may work but I have no experience with them.

Only thing is and I don't know why but I can't use non hasbro vehicles for my joes. I know, I know "Are you Austic or something?" but theres just an obvious quality difference in the plastic or paint. the one exception being the TRU AC-130...that thing is boss.
>>
>>5378947
I understand what you mean about quality. Hasbro's stuff from like 2004~2012 were fantastic. But times have changed. Just look at this TFA walker. Even in the stock photos, it looks as cheap as the Chap Mei vehicles, but at a much higher price.

Thankfully, Joes have a library of good vehicles they can reissue, but who knows if Hasbro will start making new, quality vehicles again. It may be a good time to open up to some alternative brands.
>>
True, they still have it in them though. The Ant-man 4inch figure with the flying ant is Boss.
>>
>>5378947
> I don't know why but I can't use non hasbro vehicles for my joes. I know, I know "Are you Austic or something?" but theres just an obvious quality difference in the plastic or paint.
That is pretty autistic if it's just because you don't like the feel of the plastic.
I personally don't like a lot of bare unpainted plastic, like that jeep not having painted headlights and other areas not having color.

>>5379282
Current GI Joe stuff is basically the same stuff we've been getting since they restarted the line with GI Joe Vs Cobra, at least the vehicles.
That SW vehicle looks cheap because its legs are solid pieces instead of having articulation. Otherwise, it looks pretty good.
>>
>>5380273
I saw the TRU Heroes riverboat today.. I could see the Joes going up the river with Martin Sheen

If you are interested in the Chap Mei molds, you might want to check out Excite Limited's offerings. They have been releasing Chap Mei's stuff under their brands:
>US Army
>US Navy Seals
>US Coast Guard
Endorsed by the same organizations or something, i dunno. But slapping the army's olive or the coast guard's orange onto those toys make the look less toyetic compared to the TRU Heroes line. Paint apps are better in this line too.

Pic is one the better Chap Mei jeep molds that Excite is using. (soldiers are cheap ones from BBI)

>>
>>5382685

Welp there are NO JOES at my local TRU Superstore in Toronto. There are two stores that sell them here but not a lot of choice.
Mostly the lady J Baroness shit. (I actually saw someone who had repainted the Lady J and it proved it was the paint app not the sculpt that made her look like a cow.
I was basically just going to go for Valkyries anyway but if you want troops (especially Cobra troops) of any ethnicity other than white or female troops other than J or the Baroness you have to pay much more on the after-market.
I'm kind of laughing now though.
The lack of a Rey in any of the Star Wars stuff from action figures to monopoly is pissing people off.
Finally those people who would buy warm shit if it said "Star Wars" are becoming a bit more aware of their figures. They are still lapping them up despite garbage articulation.
- and who the fuck buys those tall ones?

that IS one way. I have *some* paint experience with figures and have fiddled around a but but honestly it's not a HUGE request (that will be ignored) of Hasbro.
