An Amiibo news Twitter was trying to gain followers by doing various Amiibo giveaways. They were doing well. Lots of followers, lots of retweets etc. I entered and miraculously won so they asked for my address.
Something seemed off so I investigated more before I gave it to them. It turned out that it was all bullshit and they were signing people up for physical junkmail, sending people empty boxes, sending people garbage and who knows what else. Close call.
Not that I think you'd do that, of course. It's just my own super cautiousness.

It will. Unfortunately all of the Skymiibo are bound to bundles at the moment. Each one comes in its own separate bundle that also includes a copy of Skylanders: Superchargers and I think two other Skylanders figures.
Hammer Slam Bowser comes in the Wii (and I think 3DS) bundle. Turbo Charge Donkey Kong comes in the Wii U bundle, Dark HS Bowser comes in Dark Edition Wii bundle and Dark TC DK comes in the Dark Edition Wii U bundle.

Counting the Dark Editions, it's technically five (Wii U and the Dark Edition version, Wii and the Dark version, and the 3DS bundle by itself).
And even then, the Dark Edition Skymiibos are only a color-based variant. The amiibo workings are the same regardless of edition and the Skylander side is only a color difference in-game.

Exactly, I actually price-matched for my Dark Editions ($69.99 for my Wii U bundle and 80 bucks for my Wii bundle, but I'm not sure if I should count it.) and iI can either trade for the regular edition Skymiibos or bite the bullet and buy the regular bundles and sell what I don't need (they sell for around $40 alone, but I've seen Hammer Slam Bowser go for higher prices).

my review of the recent WoN that is SLOWLY showing up at Target: OOT Link is on par with the SS one just my QC CURSE IS REAL with this one. Mine had a floppy wrist and elbows.
Tanooki Mario is okay, but lacks wrist and feet swivels. Mine had a weird splotch of black paint on his nose. He's at least very hefty and looks okay if you don't compare him with another Mario figure.
Shy Guy is the fucking tits. Arms have shoulder joints and he has a waist joint. Also the copter hat is a nice bonus. Feet only rotate sadly and not on a balljoint like goomba. Best QC out of my bunch.

Man, this stings. I really hope this is just for Link and not something that's going to carry to the rest of the line. I'd pay more for it to stay roughly 1/18, but I'm not at all interested if all the Legend of Zelda figures are in this no-man's land.
I wonder what the reason is. I'm really hoping it's not because of Scott Neitlich(though I'd be surprised if it was him, given that this has probably been a year or so in development), and the worst fear is that it's similar to why Four Horsemen upped the scale of their fantasy line(so that there was 'more value').
Only other reason I can think of is that there were complaints that Mario was taller than Link.
He's taller than Mario, but yeah...
I hope the recent restocks of Bowser and stuff is Jakks taking notice there's demand for the 6 inch line and they shouldn't nix it completely because Dong expanded too much. They were gonna try a 6 inch Skull Kid.

I managed to clean up the black splotches of paint from Tanooki Mario's nose the best I could with low grit sandpaper.
I like it despite being really mediocre, but it's at least not a standard Mario repaint like they've been doing the past few waves with Fire Mario, Fire Luigi, and Gold Mario (why is this a thing? Metal Mario would have made more sense...).

I'm not sure what's so wrong about having these as an option though, considering Bandai's clearly not going to stop making them. And if Bowser's any indication, Bandai's prone to fucking up too. Personally, I like Jakks because, at least until OoT, they were appealing to have for my 1:18 collection and were decent quality, especially for the price.

I never found blue pikmin due to the weird distribution that wave had. Probably since by then most Targets stopped carrying the line or had a backlog of a previous wave.
Finally got wiifit and captain falcon on amiami last night, now all I need is shovel knight and I'm done with amiibos(for now).
I just got Deku Link and 2.5" Princess Peach. Peach is, hilariously, better than her larger counterpart, and Deku Link's great, I just wish he were a bit smaller, as I wanted to use one for a Deku Mask base.
