>What are good post-apocalyptic looking Transformers?

Any G1 toy leftover from childhood. They usually look like they've been through Hell and back, thats for sure.

And most of the Bayformers. They usually look like walking shitpiles compared to proper Transformers due to their over designed looks.

If they do Omega Supreme, they should make it so his face cover lifts open and become a Titan Master that can ride the tank and rocket parts.I know this is utter sacrilege to G1 zealots but it shouldn't detract from the toy at all and would be a really sick feature.

It's still one of the most fresh takes on a jetformer in decades. The F-22 is such a wide, awkward shape I thing it fits better than trying to make an F-22 transform into the old G1 design. Whether it works as Starscream is a different story, though. If he was movie G2 Dreadwing, maybe there'd be less complaining.

It's weird because Starscream is always supposed to be second in command for being efficient as fuck in combat, regardless of his methods, but Bayformers are so fucking brutal that it only makes sense that their best fighters are the fastest and the most ruthless of them.
So, making him a fast and monstruous thing makes sense for his character to work in battle, but not so much to look like Starscream.

Possibly the dumbest counter-argument I've ever heard. I actually like quite a few Bayformer designs, but Starscream is one of my least favorite. Just because G1 had shitty writers doesn't mean I'm not allowed to dislike Bayformer designs. Do you even realize how dumb you sound?

I recently got back into things too. /toy/ helped me out quite a bit. Of the CW stuff, pretty much all of the Deluxe figures are pretty good. It's when you combine them that things get a bit clearer in terms of good/bad.

Silverbolt is hands down the best bodybot. Superion is incredibly stable as a result.

Hotspot is in the middle, more or less. He's not as stable as Defensor as Silverbolt is as Superion, but he's better than Motormaster.

Motormaster has the worst hip joints of the bunch as Menasor, and is kind of top heavy compared to the rest. He's not "Why the fuck did I ever buy this" bad, but he's the one with the most obvious flaws. You gotta be more careful when posing him because of his hips and topheavyness, or he'll flop right the fuck over.

Also, a lot of scalper shit is going on right now for the older limb bots of the line, so you'd be better off buying full UW (aka: Japanese) sets for Superion and maybe even Menasor now, depending on pricing.
>>
>>5295894
Did you get uw superion from hlj?

From all the sites I've seen it seems that they have it for the cheapest price

Should be noted that Menasor's hips got fixed and there's a revision going around. Takara's version uses the fixed hips.
>>
>>5295898

Nah, I got him off eBay. for about $120 US altogether. I don't really trust international shipping honestly, normal shipping is bad enough in a lot of places.

Also, if you're interested, Walmart and Amazon are selling the CW Devastator set right now for $109 Freedomerica Eagledollars. I'm debating getting him. I've already spent so much in a month to grab the stuff I wanted because it's basically my only shot at Christmas, and I'm not made of money (seriously poor as fuck) but it might be worth the splurge.
>>
>>5295900

Yeah, I have UW Menasor. Even fixed, his hips aren't the best by a long shot. Either that, or I got bum hips in my UW Menasor.
>>
>>5295907
Ah, no, you're right. His hips are pretty wonky. I just was thinking you were talking about the worse hips than the merely adequate ones.
>>
>>5295909

He's still not bad overall though. I enjoy the big clunky bastard. I just have to fiddle with him longer to get him into poses I want and be mindful of his weight.

They honestly should've used whatever is in Silverbolt's arm ratchets for the others. They're so solid it's ridiculous.

Oh, and for the guy just getting into it like me, the same applies to remolds. Cyclonus=Silverbolt, Prime/BC Prime=Motormaster, etc. So keep that in mind if you want to use them for their combiner modes too.
>>
>>5295902
>not trusting international shipping
>walmart and amazon mentioned

I hear such sad stories about shipping in the US in general but you know what, all countries have bad shipping practices because they're run by....people, ya know?

I had boxes dumped at my doorstep (which I never use, odd house design means its easier to use the garage door) but signed off by the driver (which they can't do, thanks to an internal investigation), I had boxes kicked, I had boxes sent straight to the post office without an attempt to be sent to my house, I even had a twat write "strange address" from a local tru order which got me free shipping when I asked if this was standard practice.

Dunno how it goes for you guys but here in Australia the guys on the receiving end have it rough, they need to make a quota and thus they have to rush around, and this is just for the guys giving it to me, not the guys in the country of origin who are sending to me, can you imagine the japanese looking at my $150 boxes and wonder what does this fucking gaijin want from their home land and breaking their backs?

I feel sympathy to anons who have to pay import taxes for their items, we'll be paying that soon as well.

You can do what you like and that's fine, but know that if you try online its not always so bad...

Hlj's boxes have survived everything, even sitting infront of my door in the fucking rain for 3 days with the contents intact, and amiami's could survive a fucking football kick.

Prowl is excellent, Offroad is my favorite though, would be perfect if he had some nice guns to go with. Also the legends guys can be really good. Blackjack is great as a standalone toy, Rodmus if you don't mind redeco, Huffer is my favorite.
>>
>>5295916

Shipping in the US is just a bitch in general. We can get damn near anything usually at a decent price, but a lot of sellers price gouge like a motherfucker on shipping fees, and anything imported is probably (in my past experience) going to take forever to arrive, and look like they played kickball with the fucking thing the entire way.

I usually look for US sellers of foreign objects if I'm ever going to get a Japanese release, and anything from China is right out, so much counterfeit shit from there and you won't know if you're getting a genuine thing until it shows up on your doorstep a full month (maybe more) after you bought it.
>>
>>5295922
Their site has done me well and their customer service, when given a little argument, cave in because of japanese business practices caving in to the old "customer is always right".

Here is a story.

>hlj gunpla campaign
>free joint parts promotion
>buy 3 kits
>only get one set of parts
>"oh only one was eligible"
>hey hang on one just happens to come with an addon kit you ripped from a magazine while the other is infact part of it, as you can see in this screenshot
>"oh ok we'll send you the missing parts, here is the tracking"
>they send me the entire set of parts and not just the 2 I wanted

My only complaint ever made in 4 years and they blew me out of the water, sucks to be the guys who missed out though.

>>5295925
Stuff from the US takes forever to arrive where's the stuff I get from japan is instant, I bought 2 model kits, one from a gunpla event in america and from an auction from yahoo auctions.

Despite one done via a proxy it beat the american one via 2 months, what the fuck, the shipping was also stupidly expensive so I try to avoid US shipping, even more so on ebay, seems to be worse than bbts with shipping.

I avoid stuff from china unless I give no fucks like a cheap watch.

And if I'm worried about quality then I'll be forced to head outside and spend 5 hours walking around to one of the few decent anime shops around and then complain all the way home because australian retail, ok our local shipping isn't bad, but its the cost of the item that hurts.

$400AUD for mp10 tru man what in the flying fuck.

>Be an idiot, and go out before checking the confirmation
>A few hours later, I notice they sent 2 order confirmations

Whoah Let’s take Jesus off the dashboard.
Got enough on his mind.
The old g1 cartoons were made for kids so the crazy plots are somewhat forgivable. The bay movies could have been good except for the crass toilet humor and stupid military porn.
I'm not even commenting on the movie designs. It's not g1, it's different. I'm not saying that one is better than the other.
But storywise, the old cartoons are tolerable. The g1 comics are another matter. Furman's transformer gods are stupid and contrived. Now they're even turning Optimus into one of the original thirteen. That's stupid. And with the current situation, it wouldn't surprise me if the bay movies will portray decepticons as robot ISIS.
>>
>>5296282
>decepticon ISIS
I wouldn't mind if a new decepticon fembot was called Isis and ruled over ancient Egyptians for years as some god, would fit well with the fallen's stctick.

But the decepticons are too great in number to be shit stirs, if anything the autobots are the insurgents

>>
>>5296598

Every Starscream except Armada is commanding a retarded price for it's size catagory I've noticed in my figure hunt. If you want a G1 Starscream, you'll be paying as much as a brand new CW Leader one anyway, so if you really gotta have the G1 look, you might as well just get that one.

It really sucks, I just wanted a Deluxe sized one or FoC one but I can't justify the $40-50 people want for one. They need to re-release some of the older ones because this shit is annoying and expensive.

After all the "rumors" from that podcast, it would be kick ass to get a Liokaiser combiner. Since it seems like TT is only sending out sets, not random torsos like Hasblo is, what else could they have planned.

Still don't know if we are getting a shuttle form of Blast Off but I'd bet money on it.

I could see them doing all the Technobots as properly as possible. (and in right colors with some brown, not endless red).

The Battle Core Prime could be a finisher for the rest of the G1 cast not done with the others. Convoy + Ratchet (Offroad/Ironhide), Hoist (Tralibreaker/Offroad), Bluestreak (Prowl), Sideswipe (Breakdown).

We would only need limbs of Red Alert, Tracks, Jazz, and Skids to complete a deluxe G1 84-85 cast. Not counting Grapple and Inferno though.
>>

I think this will become the first transformer toy I ever buy that is a retool of an existing toy I own.
As far as retools go, though, this is possibly the most extensive retool in Transformers history, isn't it?
I think the feet and thighs are the only unaltered part, and the arms and legs look like they have significantly different engineering to them.
>>
>>5297058
>the most extensive retool in Transformers history, isn't it?

What the hell are you talking about? Have you only been collecting for a week or something?
>>
>>5296546
HA!
You are too close to being possible.
Minimus Ambus has a (gay) brother named Dominus Ambus who went missing at the onset of the war.
I could totally see them going back and saying that he went missing because right before Orion became Optimus, he got a massive injury, and that Dominus was chosen to merge with him to keep his functions going, and given the code name Apex

I'd hate it, but I can see them doing it.

I dunno though, I actually bet Spike will end up being his headmaster.

The fact that in IDW, the guy who invented headmasters was Nexus Prime, who's artifact creates combiners, and was sent to earth, was allied with Onyx Prime, who ALSO went to earth, and that Prime is about to head to earth seems to be a pretty strong indicator that all these "masters" are going to be earthlings.

I am so excited for this toy though. I have the original too.

More like GB Blackrock is Dominus Ambus. Something happened to Dominus and he got trapped in a human form with no memory (a major plotline for the series currently is that Blackrock is getting everyone on Earth to use ancient Cybertronian tech on their computers and they have all but stated that there are no records of Blackrock existing prior to a couple of years ago, as well as Blackrock having huge gaps in his memory he is having Spike research for him to find out who he really is).

That said, they had a perfect chance to wrap up the Dominus storyline a couple of issues ago via having him turn out to be dead but they pulled a "PSYCHE!!!!" bullshit twist afterwords to keep the storyline going even though the writers have shown zero sign of giving a fuck about wrapping up their plots

Have there been any CHUG Slag/Snarl/Swoop releases? Or is all 3rd party stuff only at this point?

Saw another review for brawl from somebody I never heard of.

Looks like the figure really is shit and not just idiocy by optipotobotomus.

3rd parties have a line of dinobots based on their FOC designs.

Energon had a really shitty combining grimlock and swoop set.

Cybertron Brimstone would've made a passable swoop but they've never made a repaint like that...

PCC has a passable Slag torso(called brimstone) and a bunch of assorted dino limbs in G1 Dinobot colors.

Lastly, a set of AOE dinobots with new g1-ish heads and colors was released a while ago.

Unless you count the Platinum retool of the SDCC set, there haven't been any actual CHUG Dinobots besides Grimlock.
