>>5289748
You can get a decent starter camera for not that much. You don't need a $2000 camera to take pictures of toys.
>>5289759
I'm not comfortable paying more than $100 to take pictures of things.
>>5289775
but you'll spend thousands on your shit toys all year and then take a bunch of shit quality photos of them? genius
>>5289780
Whoa nigga calm down, who exactly do you think you're replying to? This went from 4chan rambling to personal vendetta against an unknown person really quick.
I don't take pictures period, and I don't spend thousands on toys. I rarely spend more than 1-2 hundred a year.
>>5289781
I'll give it a look sometime. Mass paranoia turned me off of ebay a long time ago, but I always see people recommend it for various shit.
SECRETS OF CQC.
Six year old picture from Thanksgiving 2009
>>5289787
Check out second hand cameras. You should be able to find an older DSLR for well under a hundred. It won't be fantastic but once you know what you're doing it will be more than good enough for your needs.
>>5290047
2009 was the last good year of my life...
>>5290047
This is a pretty nice photo but you really need to think about warmer lighting, especially for that kind of scene. Grab some cheap golden coloured Christmas lights and place them above it, it'll make it seem much cozier and more suited to the holiday.
>>5291080
You should time travel and give him that advice around 2009.
I'm still celebrating easter.
>>5290032
A different kind of D-Dog?
Posted this over on the last Figma thread, but it's 404ing so I'm posting it here.

HA! I don't know about god teir, but thanks man.
Not thanksgiving related but since it's fall, you need to stay warm. Not dotes it better than done sweet, sweet Yuri.
Just a really quick pic from my cabinet before work.

Fucking fuck you, Swype autocorrect.

>Back them, we were all terrible photographers here.
Some of us still are. I'm still trying to work out which level of white balance to use when working with my lightbox. Pretty much every picture I took just now came out with horribly washed out colors.
>>5292125
That's fixable in post though, and pretty close to being perfect. Deffusing a little would get rid of the harsh light on the face and you'd be good to go.
>>5292145
Well hot damn. I'd tried to make the colors pop a little more in post but it just came out as an ugly, dark mess so I threw it out. What exactly did you to do to it there?
Also I was using the thin white vinyl sides of my lightbox to diffuse the light. I think next time I might try using something a little thicker, or a different angle for the light at least.

Check on that Figma release while you're at it. The one /v/ keeps yammering about in the Figma General.
>>5292155
I use gimp and mess around with the white balance. There's an option under levels where you can pick a point as reference for white balance, it's super easy and takes like 30 seconds to play with until you get something good.

Turn the waist, she looks too stiff as is. No feeling or realism in the pose
>>5292363
Noted, but this was done in August, when she was released. Whatever else I post would have been taken over a month ago, at the least.
>>5292125
People have improved a lot over time though, I dare say my images got worse when I transitioned to an Iphone out of convenience.
That still is a decent shot though, I'm kind of glad we have a host of really good photographers in our midst now.
>>5292161
Very nice work anon.
>>5292419
There was a miniature/dollhouse convention in my city. The vendor was called The Little Dollhouse company. I also got this little bar set that I just decided to use for the first time.
>>5292792
>>5292793
>>5292217
what lens did you use for this shot? Nice tight focus on the front end of the car and fades to a pleasing bokeh. I need to pick up something other than my 50mm lens. It's not that great for toy photos.
>>5292419
>Baywood Park Beach in central California.
So howcome no Morro Rock?
>>5292792
That's pretty cool.
>>5293081
We arrived to the sorta late. We were planning on checking it out the next morning, but we woke up later than we'd planned and had to leave to try and make it to a Ren Faire on the drive back.
Wanted to check it out. I hear it's nice.
>>5292808
That's actually a cameraphone picture. You can force that sort of thing if your subject is really close.
>>5293546
>cameraphone

>>5293553
LG G2. I only got it as a cheapo temp when my last one up and died, but it's a decent phone and actually not bad for pictures.
>>5293573
Damn, for a phone, that's pretty fucking good.

also got the dragon born. fiancee got the lone wanderer and man does the lone wanderer suck. dragon born is alright though. the toys could benefit greatly from a thigh swivel and double jointed elbows.

>>5294115
>>5294116
the water parts are nice but i do wish there were bigger waves.
>>5294110
Can I see pics of the lone wanderer? I want him but don't know what all is wrong with him, seems like a binch of MISB fags got them all... like they never want them to escape their prison.
>>5294294
yeah i can get some pics of him.
>>5294115
>>5294110
>okay god, i'll fight you whatever
>>5294294
the things i hate about the toy. as far as elbows this is as far as they go. normally i could forgive this kinda thing if the rest of the toy was fun but i cant.
>>5295707
his feet are very limited. any stance other than this one is useless. this is the only way he stands. the ankle tilts are very awkward too they are at a wonky angle which makes them useless.
>>5291988
ooooh where is that head from
>>5295717
Walgreens exclusive Emperor's Wrath Darth Vader
>>5295714
and the thing i hate most about the toy. you would figure that thigh swivels would be common place for 6 inch toys. but nope. i could forgive them if the hip joints were not at a fucking Y shape. also i gave up with the very small and bent gun he came with because it would not go in his hand.
the toy needs either
A) a thigh swivel
B) a T crotch shape and not a Y shape.
C) or both.
>>5291988
this pic made me want that vader and the blue electric parts.
>>5295726

i got it for my fiancee and we were both very disappointed. the dragon born is alright but not 20 bucks alright. i was hoping they were going to have the same articulation as the GOT figures. those were alright. but yeah. they dropped the ball hard.
>>5295707
>>5295714
>>5295730
Jesus christ. When I first read your posts I assumed this was a much older figure. The whole thing just looks bad, those spindly proportions and the shitty paint job. The damn thing just looks grungy, and not in the way they were intending. Like I realize they were going for wasteland weathering on the suit but it just looks like a toy that's been sitting in some grandma's attic for twenty years gathering dust for so long it's fused to the thing in clumps that won't come off.
i also got gundam.

Moron.
>>5301021
Trans-neon green, trans-neon orange, and trans-medium blue pieces all glow under blacklights. I just turn on a blacklight, set my camera's automatic lighting to Spot, and aim it at the glowing part. That makes the glowing part the average brightness, which means the rest of the setting looks dark by comparison.

>>5311237

>>5311158

>>5311175
I have a few that have received a good deal of comments when I've posted them in the past and I'd consider my best thus far but nothing compared to some of the shots I've seen here.
Can't wait to get some better pics once I get my lightbox and new camera.
>>5311248
Don't bend the left leg in all the way, extend it out. Looks more natural
>>5311248
My results were pretty much the same. I didn't like how he looked like he was sort of leaning forward, ready to start a sprint.
>>5311256
I have a light box, but rarely use it. Sort of a pain to set up and put away each time I want to take pics.
Last week I got a black curtain my work was going to toss (the last few photos I posted on here utilizing it). Even more of a pain to set up, but allows for more room.
Normally I just use my natural room or outdoor settings. I do need a new light setup though.
>>5311276
Also use playsets. Can't forget about those.
>>5311256
As for comments. My photos don't really get any. Or if they do I probably forget after the thread 404s
Are keshi figures /toy/?
>>5292172

>>5294115
I was really hoping that the Skyrim figures would look good. Shame.
>>5311158
I love the use of the effect part but the posing does need a little work.
>>5311276
I want a background of some sort, even if it isn't a lightbox because my room is small so there's crap everywhere and it makes pics look messy. I have gotten some good outdoor pictures this year but it's too wet and windy where I am to do much of that this time of year.
>>5311306
Well, I had to look it up because I'd never bought one before. Apparently keshi stuff started out as just little japanese eraser toys, but has turned into like it's own thing. I bought this from an artist on Instagram. He's also solid rubber, I was expecting it to be hollow like vinyl.
Lego for scale.
>>5311310
Also, it doesn't take much to take halfway decent pictures. I just set up some desk lamps and then use my phone camera.
>>5311314
Where is that backdrop/floor from?
>>5311358
I made it out of foam.
One more.
>>5311228
You could say he's feeling a bit...bonely.
do you guys have any hints for buying fodder for photography? I see a lot of people use black series/Marvel Legends (Stormtroopers, hydra soldiers and what not) but living in Australia a single First Order Stormtrooper runs me $50 if bought locally, and still 35-40 online. Are the bootlegs that I see for like $50 for 3 on aliexpress and shit a good stand in or should I just fork out the money?

>>5316359

kawaii squad is here!
>>5316359
Noise comes from high ISO. Ideally you want your ISO as low as it can go (100 for most cameras), but in order to get it that low you either need a ton of light in your scene (like daylight), or you need to balance it out with shutter speed and aperture. Read up a little on these terms, it'll teach you more about photography.

>>5316359
What >>5316373 said.
Higher ISOs make for more noise, because it's allowing for more light to hit the sensor. Has something to do with red being a predominant color so that's what pics up the most.
Play around with the aperture settings and/or get better lighting. I like to use a muted flash or a desk lamp (if there isn't enough natural light). The pop up flash will cause some harsh contrasts.
Nice Christmas photo though. Can't wait for the Christmas photo thread.
