Looks really nice but I'm not giving them my money. Waiting for DX9 to do a better job.

Which of these should I get?

Warbotron Whirlwind (Have the other 3 limbs, the combining bit of the game doesn't feel right unless you have all the limbs)
MMC Bovis (have none of the Feralcons, plan to just get them in released order)
Toyworld Throttlebot (one of the cheaper ones, forget which name)
Generation Toy Not-structicon (Have Maketoys Green Giant, but a larger Devestator sounds nice, though I'm not sure if I'd rather try the Toyworld one)
>>
>>5282920
I have generation toy mix master and scrapper and they are both cool as fuck.

I have Warbotron whirlwind is OK, but a little underwhelming.

MMC Bovis is fucking awesome as are the rest of the MMC feral cons.

Dont own any of the throttle bots.

Not that anon but X-transbots is just KFC by another name. They've shit out enough fragile q/c plagued garbage to be wary. Especially at the price point they're floating these MP releases at.

Though it seems they are finally kicking it up a notch. Apollion was just too much of a leap for them to attempt at first but Andras seems very doable. I have to give them props for even attempting and then eventually figuring out how to get poseable hands on MP toys. TT still refuses to do it even on the big releases like Star Saber and Magnus. Their direct competition with season 3 MP shit is with DX9 who seem to have a more favorable track record, though now we have MMC and Maketoys in the ring fighting KFC's Inferno. Also they shit out this excuse of an Ironhide and we haven't seen anything since.

>>5282920
Depends on the throttle bot. They run from $30 - $60 for the limbs. Bovis if a fine bot but you have to like the bull mode to give it a pass. I can't comment on Generation Toy but they look like nice stand alones. I have nothing good to say about Warbotron but since you have 3 already your milage may vary.
>>

ToyWorld Constructicons.
>>
Besides getting a Constructicon unsucking kit (probably both perfect effect sets) and Totally not Tailgate with Cyclonus kit (using a spare universe Cyclonus body).

Debating about getting down the line:
-Quadruple U (might as well complete PE my headmaster trio?)
- any of the autobot headmaster PE
- a non-sucky 3p Ironhide or hold out for Nonnef's kit
- a non-suck 3p Ratchet
- ????

I agree that Hasbro's, despite some of its retarded shortcomings and gaps, really did Hotspot's robot mode justice. Maketoy's is a clusterfuck of parts and TFC's is laughably too chunky in the wrong areas.

The only other Defensor on the Horizon is MMC's Oxcular Max style.

For the record, Nonnef's shoulder locks work, but they're not quite as easy to use as you might think

You have to insert the shoulder lock peg into Motormaster's hands BEFORE the shoulder assembly is finished, it's not possible to do so afterwards.

Also, there's NOTHING holding the shoulder locks secure in Robot or Truck more, they flipflop everywhere at the mercy of gravity.

>>5285445
This. I thought it was really good until I took a second look. I didn't notice the fake chest until someone pointed it out. That's a big nope. And head sculpts, it's a damn shame that most turd parties can't into decent face/head sculpts. So much of the toy's personality is in the face sculpt, and a shitty one absolutely ruins it for me.
>>
>>5285434
>No one gave a shit with both MP-1 and MP-10's fake grills
Pretty sure it's one of the few things some fanboys incessantly bitch about. And it's kind of necessary. I'm amazed at how some people around here can be such fans of transforming robot toys, yet not be able to wrap their head around basic engineering. The grill required for a decent truck mode is an entirely different shape than what the abs require. Using just one grill for both would look wrong in one mode or the other, especially when aiming for cartoon accuracy.

Hot Rod's chest, on the other hand, retains its shape between modes. It's actually straight up baffling why it's so terrible and flat on the official MP, because the alt. mode isn't licensed. They could have shaped the chest/hood however the fuck they wanted, and it would have looked fine in both modes. In fact, that's exactly what they did with the MP-09. For all of its other flaws, it handled some things that the new MP absolutely fucked up.
>>
>>5285897
>I'm amazed at how some people around here can be such fans of transforming robot toys, yet not be able to wrap their head around basic engineering. Dude, these "fans" like Alternators and Combiner Wars stuff. Do you really think they care about how shitty their figures look?
>>
>>5285928
That's the problem, though. They ARE complaining. They want their toys to magically morph from one form to another without any kibble or compromises, while being completely accurate to 30-year-old cartoon designs that were never intended to depict a feasible transformation in the first place.
>>
>>5285897
I don't recall a lot of bitching about the fake grill, probably because it still retained the actual windows for the chest. When the entire torso is fake, then there's bitching, but even then it seems to have subsided. FE Prime and Evasion Prime both faked the chest and are considered by most to be pretty good figures.

They should have just made a good tank Megatron instead. Although I would probably buy this over Apollyon just because it's pretty interesting.
>>
>>5287866
Other than the claw-hands and maybe the face (need a better look), liking everything I see here.
>>
>>5287866
That's actually really impressive for a triple changer that can be a tank, gun, or robot but there are still some things that bug me about it. The face being the biggest issue. Granted it's not a great angle but it still seems to be good enough to get the point across and what's there is so off looking. I'm also not a big fan of how sterile the design ends up looking, most notably in gun mode. Maybe the colors are part of it and maybe it's just the angles of the shot though. Lastly, and this is probably the smallest grievance but yeah, those claw hands... Not totally offputting but not really good for the G1 Megatron aesthetic.

Fuck, that's MP scale? God fucking dammit! When will 3rd parties stop this MP obsession? Doing an MP is fine but be slavishly G1 about it so it fits in with the official MPs. That's fine, but when you do stuff that's wildly out of the aesthetic such as TFC's Ironhide and Ratchet and this Megs, just keep it in CHUG scale. Don't mix the aesthetics and scales like that. You just end up with a toy that fits in neither collection.

Question though, why does astrotrain have Optimus prime's forearm arrows? looks out of place, no?

>I think the main purpose of small TFers is so they can scale better with the TFs that are supposed to be big
Maybe to you. I know a lot of other people (like myself) enjoy a nice, small toy with a simple transformation to fiddle with at their desks or whatever. It's way easier to mess around with a legends class Devastator than the monstrosities that other 3Ps and Hasbro are making. It's as simple as that.

Also, you contradict your own point. Wouldn't a Legends class Devastator also be in scale with a Titan, thus also fulfilling your perceived purpose for small toys?

This guy looks superb. I've wanted 3P Seacons since forever, and TFC seems to be doing them right. Hopefully they won't have any QC issues like the ones that ruined Ares.

Also, I wonder if they'll do a Scylla? If so I actually hope they do a redeco of it in G1 Seacon colours (maybe to match Overbite so that there's 2 of each limb colour palette?) so that we can have a squiddy fembot on the team without having her stick out like a sore thumb.
>>

What was wrong with Ares? No one ever really talked about it other than TFC bashers saying it sucked because it's from TFC.

Well I only have Skullface's review to go by, but his tolerances are kinda iffy, and the combined mode really suffers for it. Granted that was just one review but it does worry me. I might still get him as A: I'm fairly adept at fixing looseness in figures, B: Feral Rex is nigh on impossible to get in the UK, and C: I really don't like Feral Rex's aesthetics at all.

And, I forgot to say, I'm still curious about how they'll integrate the 'extra' member. Either they'll still turn into a gun (which means those joints better be really sturdy) or just combine somehow with the torso. I doubt it'll be Scramble City but I also doubt they'll just leave someone out.
>>
>>5295003
>>5295007
I can dig it. I'm really hoping their Tentikill comes out well. Hoping they go a bit more for a traditional squid shape for the alt mode though, with plenty of tentacles and joints in them. They can keep the absurd face, I just want a more squid-like shape than G1 had.

Combiners tend to have some issues in gestalt mode regardless of the company. It usually centers around the combiner joints just not being able to hold up the weight but to what degree varies. Feral Rex, for example has a bitch of a time in the shoulders, especially when he's got his sword and gun. Warbotron's Bruticus has some issues with the combiner joints being to strong and thus other parts start to pull apart during posing. He also has some problems with the ankle joints where the ratchets are partially made with clear plastic so that also doesn't help but that was more a base design choice issue than joint tolerance. I seem to recall one of the Dinobot combiners also having several issues with tolerance. It just seems to be no matter who does them, gestalt modes just don't come out perfectly and suffer from joint tolerance and clearance problems just because of the nature of the figures. You're sticking several big heavy figures with a fuckload of moving parts together into an even larger, heavier figure with all the same moving parts. No matter what considerations are taken, things are going to collide and joints are going to give under the pressure of the weight.

Granted, I also saw Skullface's review and while the guy is sometimes a hamfisted idiot, it seemed to be some legitimate problems with Ares.

If I rememberight, the Mobine sets either had a very limited run or didn't make it to production at all.

If they did, it was only one of the two color schemes.

Only way I know of to get one is to go for the complete Chaos Paladin figure.

Which is a really fun figure imo.
>>
>>5297175
Boo. That's a shame.

Although, I've been focusing almost exclusively on legends lately, so having a Fallen in that scale would be good.
>>
>>5297175
There was issues with what they were getting from the factory leading to a delayed smaller run than planned so they voild recoup costs and move on. The marine type could still be preordered when that was announced but for the more popular jungle type you were shit out of luck if you hadn't preordered.
>>
>>5296127
This is actually very entertaining when you consider the complicated nature of being a combiner.

Many times there were problems because certain bots just couldn't work together, making the combined form very unstable. Many of the Decepticon combiners were so absolutely unstable that it was a wonder they vould function at all.

Well, I really like the way he looks, alt mode included. I like his alt mode a lot as well, I used to love metal slug, so there is that. On top of that, hes just super solid man, not a loose joint on him. Every thing just lines up perfectly and really works together. Say what you will about MMC designs, but their engineering and QC is second to none.

You can literately pick this thing up by the arm and nothing moves, I love it.

The only thing I don't like is how loosely his ramp attached to his back in robot mode and that his leg pieces don't attach in base mode.

I prefer this base mode, it's more solid.

Honestly, legends is probably the best rabbit hole to fall down. Takes up less room, good quality so far, and cheaper than other third party stuff.

man that cyclonus and galvantron looks baller
what are they from?
>>
>>5299167
DX9, the same group doing Hulkie.

Cyclonus is my biggest disappointment of the IF/DX9 legends. Needlessly bad design decisions like the floppy nosecone and lack of thigh swivels bring it a few notches below the others. Iron Factory's Windblade has a nearly identical transformation with neither of those shortcomings.
