Pretty much all city-formers do a terrible job of being an actual city, mind, because they're laid out fairly symmetrically, no highways, questionable scale, impossible architectural structures(like floating buildings), and usually the hands/head stick out like sore thumbs.
It's a shame, but it's unlikely to change, especially since they have to greatly limit parts-count for assembly costs/safety purposes. It'd be great if Hasbro got it into their head to make a City-former that served as the core for a modular race-track system and actually provided multi-lane tracks/scaled Micromachine Transformers to go with them, but to make a good looking display would take at least $300, given that Fort Max starts at $180 and you'd need 5-6 $20 sets for a varied cityscape.
There has been like, zero talk of Tracks this week, save for a few posts on Monday, I think. What gives?
Anyway, I love him. He's got a nice spark of variety. Some of his bits are a little complicated compared to Hasui's Autobots, but it all pegs together well enough, and it's pretty intuitive. Not sure if I'm a fan of the leg ratchets, they just don't feel necessary on a small figure like this. His colors are absolutely gorgeous, though. I think he rivals Smokescreen for best MP paint job.
The one thing that bothered me most about him in pictures was the hollowness of his upper torso, but in hand, it's completely not an issue. Don't even notice it. I do wish his car windows were tinted to better hide his head in alt. mode. All in all, top tier car-former. Love the flight stand, too, makes him so much more versatile and dynamic than the rest.

As for his neck tab, as far as I can tell, it just gets held there by friction. I suppose you could always do the floor polish fix-me-do to tighten it up. Mine is pretty sturdy as is, and only sinks in if I actually push his head down.

Anyone else slightly worried about how CW Bruticus will turn out? Since Onslaught uses the Hot Spot mold, which is probably the least stable of the CW bodybots for posing due to the upper leg swivels and funky knee joints affecting movement in bodybot mode, plus the peg in chest plate that forever comes loose due to the solidness of the armbots ratchets.
He definitely rocks the mold very well.

Been using dragstrip and breakdown as arms. Since breakdown's weird hip-elbow let's him have thinner forearms and still have a bit of elbow movement. Plus offroad is only really good as a foot and dead-end makes a solid matching knee pad when modded.

Eh. Ok, so there's a whole lot going on with the upper torso that I'm not a fan of. The shoulders not locking into place anywhere is probably the worst, but the two tabs that hold his back on aren't enough either. Every time I move his arms it seems like something wants to come loose. There's the neck thing like I mentioned (I just played with it some more, and he still goes full turtle every time I try to move it.)
I feel like I'm gonna break the hood pieces on the back of his calves every time I try to move his legs. This is probably nothing to worry about, but I still wish they had a tab to lock in. Also, I'm not digging the ratchets on his knees and elbows, one of them is floppy and it only reduces the range of motion on them.

Honestly, hotspot is my favorite of the torsos in robot and combined mode. Right now I only have him and brawl on order, and I'm sort of looking forward to not having him be a torso fulltime like the rest of my combiner wars stuff.
The new waist skirts for onslaught are the only thing that could end up sketchy, I never really had a problem with the shoulders detaching because that's naturally where I put my thumb when I move his combiner arms around.

Fair enough. He is a bit more difficult to manage than the other car-formers, but I like it. I haven't had any issues with him staying pegged in, but occasionally, going back to car mode, I get a slightly awkward cohesion and he seems a little tweaked.
I also had the ratchet issue, which pissed me off, because it does indeed fuck with the stability, and there is really no need for ratchets on this figure. It wasn't too hard of a fix, though. I took the leg apart and found the ratchet peg was a square-shaped insert with a tab that had too much play in it. I cut up an old credit card and used it as a shim to keep the insert in place better. It wasn't too hard of a fix, but when I'm paying 50 bucks for a toy, I shouldn't have to tinker with it right out of the box.

The Skids mold is terrible and a new paintjob can't save it. His shoulders are a joke, he has parts colliding everywhere, and he can't stand unless you turn his feet backwards or hunch him over like an old man. Someone will probably turn up to say he's fine, but you'll more than likely be disappointed in him.

Are you familiar with the Skids mold? One major complaint with it is that it's back-heavy without adequate heel supports. If you're okay with that, then Crosscut is pretty fine.
I also find that Crosscut resembles the Autobot grunt from WFC. Since they're cheap, I guess you could army-build them...?
