***READ THE GUIDE****

For those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Gunpla/Plamo Secret Santa!

Sign ups run until December 4th. I'll try to have everyone paired up by December 6th.

Like last year, I'm going to have everyone fill out a Google form so I can collect the information easily.

Also, if you have some kits in your backlog that you are willing to part with feel free to email me a list and estimated values.

Depends on the foil sticker. Camera stickers for gundam heads are going to give a clean look, while detailing that for a 1/144 will take a surgeon's hand to not end with a mess.

Same person from yesterday who asked GG how to thin. What in the fuck am I doing wrong?
>Thin at a 1:1 ratio using 10 drops of paint and 10 of thinner
>Give it time to sit there for about 30 mins so the chemicals can mix and all that
>Put the mixture into my airbrush
>Attempt to just use air
>Paint comes out when it shouldn't
>Dissasemble airbrush
>Same shit that happened when I used the shitty Master airbrush, it's all covered in paint
>Cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol as we speak

Help please. When this happened with a non-brand brush, I could assume it was due to their quality. Now I'm lost as to why. I don't get it, I did what I was told, my brush is decent (Badger Patriot), it should logically work.
>>
>>5277257
Well apparently paint is leaking somewhere. Are you sure the lever shit is properly assembled? The "trigger" i mean.

Also, anyone on here care to share personal experiences with the gundam.info card event? Someone on /m/ said it took them 9 cards to get a single gold plated Strike kit. Do the Single items have a decent chance?
>>
>>5277275
It had been, I think. I hadn't really fooled around with the brush much, only disassembled the back portion a few times to get a feel for that, nothing regarding the trigger. I had sprayed air alone before putting in paint and it went fine. My PSI was consistent.
>>
>>5277275
Single items have the best odds.

>Figuring out a "real type" color scheme for G-Arcane

A pure orange mobile suit just doesn't seem right to me.

Ideas welcome.
>>
>>5277275
My personal experience is that I buy lots of gunpla, and have never gotten a goddamned card ever. I buy from local places (US), I buy from amazon now and then, I buy from HLJ, nothing.
>>
>>5277381
cat sith color scheme?
>>
>>5277381
Military grays/greens/tans, that sort of thing. About as "real" as you can get.
>>
>>5277383
You have to buy from bluefin partners in the US. I think GGinfinite and Gundamplanet are but they seem to get cards late. Bluefin parnters is pretty expensive too, which is why I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy from one. Apparently Gundamplanet is about 40 minutes from my house but their prices are bullshit. But I guess it seems like no one has had any luck winning any prizes here, which tells me you're better off saving up and buying in sets from HLJ.

>>5277289
Are you absolutely sure you put it back together correctly? And are you sure you didn't miss out any rubber grommets or anything? O-rings I mean.
>>
>>5277391
My local stores get their kits from Bluefin, but they've never had cards ever.
>>
>>5277289
I just realized. If paint is leaking your needle is not flush against the nozzle. Did you clean the inside of your nozzle thoroughly and did you make sure the needle isn't misaligned or damaged?

If you're using acrylic you should dunk the nozzle pieces in a tiny cup of windex with ammonia for a while. You should know Ammonia can damage the stainless steel but that's mostly just an empty warning. The amount in windex shouldn't affect your airbrush too much. Just leave it in there for like 30 minutes to an hour and then try to wash everything house under running water (with the drain closed so you don't lose any tiny parts).

Also make sure you have the needle inserted all the way and tightened properly.
>>
>>5277392
Do you buy during the events? Just ask before you buy.
>>
>>5277391
Nope, I hadn't touched any of the rubber parts at all for one thing. And since I only moved the back, all I had really touched was the needle, needle chuck, and "back" that holds everything in. Nothing concerning the trigger or front.
>>
>>5277398
I do. They've said they've never received anything of the sort and were wondering wtf I was talking about.
>>
>>5277257
Pretty sure you've got a paint leak some where. Instead of using paint, mix some food coloring into some water and see if you can find where it's coming through. Also, double check the trigger assembly as it's pretty easy to easy up.
>>
>>5277396
I cleaned it all out with isopropyl alcohol since I knew that could be used for acrylic paints. This was before your comment, right now it's just sitting disassembled. Should I still go for the Windex then?
>>5277408
Hmm, I'll look into it. Would just testing with water alone work, or does it need food coloring?
>>
>>5277408
Also protip: dont use black food coloring. Shit stains like hell. Holy fuck.
>>
>>5277406
Well they're retarded and missing out.
>>
>>5277410
Eh, you don't but it'd certainly make it easier.
>>
>>5277415
Exactly what is it I'm trying to accomplish? Seeing if at the front some of the water/food coloring mixture spills out? Or if it goes into the other parts of the brush where it shouldn't?

>>
>>5277415
Gelgoog Guy have you won anything from the gundaminfo campaigns? How many cards did it take?
>>
>>5277275
My local hobbyshops get the cards in and sometimes I get them from the bluefin booth at cons.

I've won a rg set, a pg astray, and a plated Tryon 3 so far. Single items have better odds by far, both because the number of winners listed for each prize and because more people tend to go for the big sets.

I lucked out on the RG set and got it after like 4 cards, but the single items took around 10-15 cards each (hobbyshop has a huge stack and doesn't care if you take multiple).
>>
>>5277429
make the face white
>>
>>5277396
Will generic glass cleaner with ammonia work, or does it need to be Windex? I have a generic brand at home currently.

Can I put parts besides the nozzle bits there? Some other small parts still have tiny amounts of paint on them even after cleaning.
>>
>>5277446
Generic is fine. Just make sure you know how to put everything back together.

>>5277442
>I lucked out on the RG set and got it after like 4 cards, but the single items took around 10-15 cards each (hobbyshop has a huge stack and doesn't care if you take multiple).
You are fucking lucky dude. Holy shit. Also, 10 cards per single item is too much unless online shops start handing out cards like candy.

Gundamplanet is like 40-50 minutes from my place, maybe I can drive over there and convince them to give me a few cards per kit.
>>
>>5277454
I'll be sure to watch tutorials. So, besides the nozzle, can other parts be washed in the liquid also?
>>
>>5277456
You can clean whatever you want, just make sure you don't lose anything and you wash away all of the ammonia-based cleaner after you're done.
>>
>>5277462
Good, I'm watching tutorials as we speak.

It's all about odds. They took me like 10 tries, but somewhere out there some people got it on their first and others never got it.

Expect nothing and consider anything you might win as a nice bonus.
>>
>>5277466
I'm counting on the average. I'm not a fortunate man.

The reason I'm asking is because western stores have stupidly high prices, especially since HLJ is having sales.

Well the 1/100 Graze is coming with teh Barbatos's shield/gauntlet thing, so maybe a future release will include the mace. They're making a 1/100 Schwalbe graze so maybe they'll make a graze Custom with it or include it in the inevitable upgraded release of Barbatos.

While it's obviously limited in articulation, the transformation gimmick is pretty fun to play around with.

Was SD Gundam EX-Standard brought up? I just got mine out of curiosity. No yellow plastic and much more simple than I thought. Too much dependence on stickers but it articulates well so is fun to pose. Might get second on for painting and give it the BB Warrior eyes.

I think it would be cool if they go through a whole bunch of SD MS that Legend BB wont. Make Legend BB like the MG of SD and treat EX-Standard like the HG series in terms of lineup.

I feel that it has the potential to be the second coming of the G-Generation kits; a cheap but diverse range of SD kits.

Unfortunately, the previews for the next few releases are all the primary Gundams. Hopefully they get over that phase soon and move on to grunts or less popular Gundams.
>>
>>5278965
I think that's because they are testing it out(?) in China, and they love Gundams way more, or something. Not sure if they are actually being release domestically but then Bandai will likely do the mono-eyes. They got less colors anyways so will look decent in this cheaper series.

>>
>>5278942
I may pick one of these up in the fullness of time, but I think they shit the bed by not having the yellow parts.
>>
>>5279085
Yeah it seems very keen on basically snapping the back and front pieces together to make up a body part. Too bad because everything else is pretty ideal. It tickles my nostalgia a little for older kits though so I don't mind too much.
>>
>>5278839
How is Daban quality these days? Is it still dogshit?
>>
>>5278942
Pros
>Well articulated for an SD
>Slightly better proportions (in my opinion)

Cons
>Poor part seperation for a modern sd
>Large gaps even for an sd kit
>Weapons are flimsy and just sad compared to the designs previous SD releases
>Several lack gimmicks the previous releases had
>The main gimmick of swapping the weapons onto hg is sort of bland, especially considering how bad the weapons are.

It's especially baffling as these kits are apparently intended for the US and not Japan.
>>
>>5278393
Where did you buy it from? I'd like some old HG rx-78's for that price
>>
>>5279121
>apparently intended for the US and not Japan
Are they? Because the instruction and package are still made for Japan. The figsoku post I looked at seem to indicate that these were being sold internationally first, then comes out in Japan later. And they were saying China, not US. But I'm not really sure about it.

Anyways I think they are going for cheap kits for kids. HG weapon thing I have no clue what that's about.

Like...does the US even like SD Gundams?
>>
>>5279155
According to Derringer in a previous discussion the US was the primary market for the line.
>>
>>5279180
did bluefin suggest this brilliant idea?
>>
>>5279180

>>
>>5279188

i'm a beginner, i'm thinking about buying exia, 00 raiser, and 00 quanta. good? or other recommendations?
>>
>>5279500
00 Raiser is a really solid HG to start with.
>>
>>5279500
Don't buy 3 very similar suits at once. I like the designs too, but they will have similar builds which will bore you over time if you don't vary and do other types. Start with the 00 like >>5279505 said (the guide also mentions it as great). Then buy some other suit type, a Zaku or GM or other grunt, or non-00 Gundam, just to not have tedium. The last thing you want is burnout because the hobby starts becoming too similar in each build.

READ THE GUIDE for what tools you will need, and have fun building friend.

>>
>>5279560
All I was saying is he shouldn't build 3 of essentially the same suit in a row. If you eat the same sandwich every day you tend to want something else after a while. Just trying to help him not get tired of the building mid-build. I never said not to build the suits at all, I even said I enjoy the designs because I do.
>>
>>5279572
You'll get tired building a suit you're not interested in before you get tired building similar suits that you like.
>>
>>5279590
He didn't say he didn't like other suits, just that he did like the 00 line. Whatever.
>>
>>5279590
>You'll get tired building a suit you're not interested in before you get tired building similar suits that you like.

Really? I have never seen them being sold before. Then again I don't frequent 711 much.

Yeah the normal shop prices of kits are bad, hobby shops are better but online is best, though I do try to support local.

Also looks like I need to pay scape mall a visit.

If you have then time you might want to try and have a look at hobbymate. A pain in the ass to get to of course so you should check their site for what's available first.

i dont have 7 eleven in my country so i only know asian 7 eleven and yeah they have gashapon & kits.
>>
>>5280719
pain in the ass doesn't even begin to describe it.
I wish they were still at their old location, although the prices on some of their stuff are horrendous though.

Online better than local? I thought the shipping costs would rape you.
>>
>>5280719

it was one of those rent a cube stores in scape. All the gunpla is piled up behind the counter, IIRC it was level 1, next to the icecream place where they make it from scratch when you order on the big frozen plate.

i'm home now so i never made it to hobby mate. Hobby art gallery at sunshine plaza was selling a lot of hobby mate's stuff there though. I got the earth guardian kit from them. They had the power armor for MG astray but it was way too expensive. Same with the sword set. i'll get those from taobao.

I got a lot of non gunpla stuff from china square central. Only official gunpla thing i got was the jigen build knuckes set from toys-r-us because it had a gunpla campaign sticker, but no stock when i asked about the campaign.
