Everyone got their 50th's yet?

>>Sir,
>>As expected. the sample of the "Venom" symbiote we secured on the black market have bonded with the nanomites injected into the subject, and the nanomites have successfully replicated an artificial version of the symbiote with the subject mostly retaining control. What I have to question is whether we should continue this project in its current state, as many questions still remain about the symbiote and its behavior. Even in an artificial form, how much of its free will does it retain? Are the suppressor drugs truly controlling it, or is it simply biding its time? If we lose control over the subject, the loss of Cobra scientists and troops would be catastrophic.

Hard mode : Get a buddy to ship it to you at cost. Try the BST here and post what you want and where you are.

Expensive mode: ebay, amazon and other such services

Im not sure on anything else, but another anon may chime in with a better suggestion.

When I said "we need new 1:18 toys ASAP" I meant to actually have them...like you know, purchasable, because everything has been in coming soon status for months.

Don't get me wrong I don't want to shitpost or rant about Hasbro etc, its just I feel the threads are dead due to the lack of actual releases, they are so sporadic that when something is released is like finding the Holy Grial

Yeah, aside from 50th Joe stuff there's not much going on. I did find a rock rampage pack in the wild finally. Fixed up the rock viper a little bit and probably detail him once I get back from vacation.

Next year's going to be a good year for Acid Rain at least.
>>
Finally found the Gung-Ho set at TRU today. Two of them, actually, so I had the chance to pick the best one which was a nice feeling. The thing that really surprised me is that his chest tattoo isn't as gaudy as I had thought it was based on the pics I've seen online; it's actually quite nice. If it had been maybe one value key lighter and slightly duller, maybe it would have been better, but I'm happy with it. Not too crazy about the fact that his hat just pops right off, revealing a big blocky square on top of his head. Also, I can't find a minigun pose that I'm happy with. It's too cumbersome.

Also saw two of the Leatherneck 3 packs on the shelves, which was really bizarre. My guess is either some scalper in the area just gave up and returned them when they weren't selling online, or the employees just found an old box in the pack and put them on the shelves.
>>
>>5282019

Sounds like your Gung Ho needs some glue to keep the hat on as it's not meant to be removable. Gotta fix it stat, anon.

Is the Steel Brigade vs Iron Grenadier a good place to start collecting? I'm interested in Joes but am mostly a gundam/figma/weebshit kinda guy
>>
>>5282212
Yeah, I would say that 2-pack is highly recommended. Both the figures are some of the best from Hasbro's better days. Helps that they packed in a lot of accessories so you can configure them in many ways.
>>
>>5282218
Now I know this is more /tg/ related, but have any of you used 1/18 scale figures for wargaming?
>>
>>5282221
I tried once, but they are too big, I'm guessing is possible in small scale games.
>>
>>5282283
I found a ruleset called Action Figure Combat, looks promising. Now I just need to get some joes to try it out with. Any other recommendations to go with the Steel Brigade pack?

Dollar General figures as they are usually cheaper.
maybe a squad of 5 Cobra troopers.

Also it depends if you are okay with older figures that go cheaper on e-bay.

Anon has points.

The dollar general have about dried up, but can still be found in the discount boxes.

Last years 50th, the low light/ night viper 2 pack, both 3 packs, and danger at the docks vehicle sets are a good pick up as well.

The 25th can have some odd articulation issues. Wrists were horrible first few waves, elbows tend to have a poor range too. Some are pretty good now even, some have been replaced by updated designs.

Ask away, we try to help here.

Just picked up this set. For 10 bucks, you get some good Monster Hunter-ish firepit(with removable sticks, a removable grill, and a removable fire), a kettle with removable lid, a bowl of soup, a stick you can stuff up the fish's ass, monstrous marshmallows, 'veggies' on a shishkabob, a cup, as well as a weird squirrel thing in a boy scout outfit, a sleeping bag, and a map.

Lil Woodzeez. Specifically the Camping Playset.
Their accessories are great and cheap, but the scale varies between 1/18 and 1/12 with a few items enlarged simply because it's safer that way.

I've been grabbing their stuff since I found their little one-room buildings, but what I'd really love to get is pic related.

Unfortunately, while it's on sale this week, it's hard to get given that I'm about a month away from moving.

So I just grabbed the Desert Duel 50th set and I love all the new gear added to the Striker. It's essentially just a few new small pieces, but they give it a very different feel. That said, I'm kinda sad the Basilisk didn't get a similar treatment. A new cock-pit canopy or turret would've made a world of difference. As is, I might try to cut out the bed and turn it into some sort of half-track transport.

"Heya Boss-Fighters,

We have amazing news to report, and lots of fantastic pictures to share. Catrina and Dave’s trip to Hong Kong and China is going very well. The factory has prepared samples of every item for inspection and many are 99% ready to go to full production. It’s not hyperbole when we say that these are some of the best factory-applied decos we’ve seen in our careers! We should have solid delivery dates and pricing announcements soon. We’ll also begin taking pre-orders soon for those of you that missed out on the Kickstarter. Until then, enjoy the pictures. There is stuff still to tweak, but overall, we’re absolutely thrilled with what we’re seeing and hope you will be too."

>>
>>5287103
They could be full of candy, you don't know.
>>
>>5287108
Candy traveling at that velocity will still kill people, at best the candy melts under extreme temperatures and everyone is sprayed with molten candy that'll solidify into their wounds. Seems especially cruel and unusual if it is candy.
>>
>>5287117
Even if it's marshmallows? They'd be nice and toasty when they arrived!
>>
>>5287046
Those are pretty great, except the translucent plastic kind of muddles up the face/hair are of the Medusa.
>>
>>5287128
The missile upon impact would spray molten hot liquid marshmellows allover everyone who would then suffer at least 3rd degree burns. Blindness is possible if it hits your eyes and eyelids and the stickiness would make it impossible to get off, think napalm.

What would really make it suck is the fact that if help doesn't arrive almost immediately then you'd suffer getting eaten alive by insects feeding off the sugar and burrowing into your wounds.

>>5287149
That's what they should use then... but hard-candy tipped.
Shit if my forces got hit with that I'd fucking sue for peace.

I would take bullets first.
Anyone using candy is to Goddamn hard-core to mess with.

So I picked up a GI on a whim and like him a fair bit, are anyone doing generic 1/18 scale zombies or anything of that ilk that I can have getting shot up?
>>
>>5288618

Yeah... yet I collected almost all of them (only ones I didn't buy were Catwoman, Joker, Harley, Azrael, and the two-packs) just to have more villains. Among them Black Mask and Bane are the best. The Penguin (Batman Returns) mold is amazing, just that damn shitty umbrella sucks.

Deathstroke (Arkham Origins) is leagues better then their previous try with figures on this scale.

Robin is better if you give him an actual staff (gave him Marvel Universe Moon Knight's).

Pity the only good Batman mold is Keaton one.

Any reason why we have not got future waves of Dollar General GI Joes?

They sold extemely well and let's face it, if the big retailers won't touch the lines, why not fucking put out a budget line for the el-cheapo market?

Fuck, do six figures, two per case. Reissues of in demand figures and two evergreen characters rotate with their various variants. There are enough freaking Cobra Commander, Duke, and Snake Eyes to make it work to have each wave feature a different version.

Do Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes, the Ultimate Duke with just the Troop Builder hooded head as the core three and three randoms: one GI Joe member, one Cobra Troop Builder, and one "name" Cobra member.

Ultimate Duke Troop Builder will make sure the Duke figure constantly sells and give us some crazy ass recolors of Cobra Commander if necessary. And rotate in a a new Snake Eyes each wave.

Since Dollar General is carrying Star Wars toys now, my guess is that DG opted to ditch Joes in favor of allowing for more budget and display space to go towards Star Wars stuff. Hasbro probably didn't press the issue with DG because their factories are busy producing Star Wars stuff anyways.

>>5293565 here. Got my Deathstroke in today, he's pretty nice. Not quite up to par though with the Deadpool I have, which is a damn shame, but the paint's good on him, so I guess I lucked out. Shame they're killing the Multiverse line, it was almost good.

I think the main point of irritation is the fact that they didn't give the poor guy bicep swivels, which really kills what you could do with the bo staff or the rifle and he can't quite reach his sword when it's in the sheath. He also needs some sort of ankles and an ab crunch as well, and a joint in the ponytail would have been just pure icing.

There's also the fact that, while he does have a high accessory count(for Mattel), he can only store 2 of them, and one of them poorly(the gun's trigger guard needs a groove cut into the holster to go down enough). The bo staff and automatic rifle(apologies if it's something else) either have to both in his hands(which looks awful) or have one them just off to the side. For comparison, the 6" DCUC Deathstroke had a strap on the rifle to make it wearable and a clip for the bo staff to store on his back, both could have been done here as well. Also, the staff seems poorly thought out, as it's shorter and wider than it should be, so I'll need to make a replacement for it anyways.

All in all, decent if you find one with a good paint job, the sculpt is lovely, I just wish they did better in their articulation and accessories.

Hilarious.
As a long time collector of all things 1:18, the only other line that comes close was Hot Toys snapkits. Their Aliens and Predator figures were pretty shit, but they improved with their later Appleseed line. I really wish Hot Toys had kept trying
It's almost sad that Hasbro is the only company that put quality efforts into their 1:18 figures.

Other companies came close, like Mezco and DCD, but they lacked in one or two categories (paint, articulation).
Ori Toy's Acid Rain figures are good, but the plastic is so damn wobbly. It's almost like they're made from rubberbands or something.
Hopefully HACKS are as good as MGR's or better, because they come really close to GI Joe quality.
>>
>>5298961
Hasbro/TakaraTomy, you mean, right? I know that some Microman were considered 1/1, but there were a few that were legitimately 1/18 figs and their articulation alone was worth the price paid.

H.A.C.K.S. look good, but they've got a few problems in their articulation from what I can see, we'll see whether the end product's any good.

Deadpool is from the Greatest Battles 2-pack of him and Taskmaster. I lucked out and stumbled on it in-store, which I personally feel is the best Deadpool in 1/18(there's 6 versions now, if I recall). The only things I'd like Hasbro to do if they reused this guy would be to change the calf/foot so that it's the inverted ankle joint and add joints to the wrists and neck. Fantastic figure, goes for too much though.
>>
>>5299322
How is the Taskmaster figure?
>>
>>5299351
Accessory-wise and detail wise, I like him. That said, he's using the same lower body as Marvel Universe Hawkeye, and that means no thigh swivel and the ankles are unrockable(there's a swivel at the top of the boot). Oh, and without his cape, he's got a mile-high neck, but how often would you take his cape off?

Very low quality overall. Sculpt and paint were always lacking, BUUUUUT they are very fun to play with and are the most poseable toyline ever made.

Just look at this shit. They fucking drew lines to represent armor that's supposed to be sculpted on. The actual Microman line is better in this regard, as long as they didn't use transparent plastic that breaks like an egg shell.
There were so many damn problems with Takara's Microman lines.

Several of 50th anniversary two-packs currently available are packed with extra weapons, more than what the figures themselves can use.

Some of these 50th figures are repacks or reuses of the Pursuit of Cobra line, which was where Hasbro's efforts peaked, so they are definitely worth checking out.

Spider-Man's best figure(For classic costume) is Toy Biz Superhero Showdown, but that's rather fragile. There's also a Raimi costume one that's an SDCC exclusive and an Amazing version that's almost as good but weird costume.
Captain America's got a bunch of good figures, Steve Rogers in the Marvel Universe/Avengers Infinite lines is probably my favorite though.
Nova's only got one from Marvel Universe and he's got a problem with his face.
Hulk's had a bunch, but you'd probably do best going to the second movie's toyline for one that's properly scaled(about 5-6" compared to a 4" figure).
>>

I wouldn't call the Showdown line flimsy or fragile.
they're just loose as fuck.

Shipwreck from the Dollar General wave is a good combination of value for money and coolness. The Cobra Commander from the two-pack is a great figure too, has both ankle rockers and extra wrist articulation as well as a second hooded head. He also comes with a Shipwreck, which is cool in its own right, but in my opinion the Dollar General version is better.

Oh, and the new Gung Ho is really awesome, but he's decently tricky to find at the moment.

I second the two-pack Shipwreck/Cobra Commander recommendation. Two solid figures with good accessories, for about $10 each.

BBTS also has the Retaliation Storm Shadow for $6, and he's one of my favorites. If you're into ninjas, he's a fun one. Very posable.

Local TRU finally brought in new True heroes stuff. Still on the fence, yet to buy any.

They've been adding a lot of those nerf launchers onto their sets lately.

>>
>>5305300
I just grabbed this set a few weeks back and I think it's pretty great. Not perfect, none of the True Heroes things are, but it's a good value and works very well with Joes and other similarly scaled figures.

The nerf launchers can easily be left to the side so you can put whatever you prefer in their place. In fact, the guns on the upper turrets can actually peg into the spot the nerf blasters go so you can straight up replace them with no modding needed. My only real complaint is the same one I have with all True Heroes/Chap Mei stuff, the lack of detailed driver/pilot consoles and controls. The center seat is clearly designed to be a pilot's chair, but instead of any kind of controls, it's where the (non-working) spotlight goes. It's not a deal breaker of any sort, but it's still something else I'll have to mod eventually.

The tank on the otherhand is a big, solid empty shell that barely fits one figure. It's a shame too because there's a lot of space in there and they could've easily fit in a driver's seat or two.

Also, something I found to be a pleasant surprise is that the foam darts that come with this set can actually be fired from *real* Nerf blasters. They work in any non-mag fed elite dart blaster and seem to get a pretty good range. I can't tell you the absolute max range, but the fact that they work at all is kind of a nice surprise.

1.5mm Brass pin. Aligning the holes needs intense eyeballing. The side with the shorter bit of the pin ( the elbow) needs a dab of superglue to keep the pin in.

I'm almost sure these are Hasbro overstock just repacked in Argentina, the figures have the Hasbro brand in them.
Back in those days Hasbro overproduced these figures and flooded the market, then the movie bombed and they were left with a lot of oversupply in the factories in china.
From a certain point of view you are right because they were commercialized without the permission of Hasbro.

Now that he has bicep swivels and im putting him into poses, a question comes to mind.

How does he aim down a rifle scope when he is blind on the right side?

I mean, he could just swap the rifle to his left hand but he seems to be using his right side in the game.
