Anyone else looking forwards to Yume? I'm way too hype. Why do the polynian figures have to look so cute?
>>
>>5265335
Yume is the main thing from Polynian I'm interested in.
I just love the clusterfuck of concepts she is made of.

I want that pouty pigtail imoutobot as a premade figure
>>
Can anyone recommend me an easy-ish garage kit in the same vein as these? I like Shamrock and clover, and I'd kind of like to put something similar together over a weekend. Barring that, what's the easiest way to mod up some gripping hands that would fit them?

>>5265335
I'm down with the thickness, but she's just got way too much doing on for my tastes.
>>
>>5265368
idk if it's what you are looking for but Shinkis (whilst not garage kits) are kind of similar I guess
>>
>>5265376
They're close, but I really am looking for something I can make into a project first and foremost. Also, those things are scary expensive, I don't need another rabbit hole like that in my life.

Little Armory Tactical Gloves/hands will work great. You'll have to paint them white (or just use them as gloves.)
>>
>>5265388
Koto FA:Gs. Though you might be too late to preorder the unarmoured ones.
>>
>>5265390
exactly, unless these things go down in price by a lot im not getting into them. clover is nice but she was not 50 bucks nice.
>>
>>5265390

She's like, 6200 Yen, which is probably closer to $50. Considering all the stuff Yumi comes with, she's practically the same price as (maybe a little over) Figma and Figuarts, while being about the same quality (possibly even slightly better.)

I think Yumi is pretty reasonably priced. Clover and Shamrock were too much though, considering all they came with was an extra set of hands. That said, people still bought them because Tits and hips (Clover) and little boy penis (Shamrock.)

I include shipping when I consider purchasing a figure you idiot. Shipping isn't just some invisible fee.
>>
>>5265599

>Paying for shipping for one single figure
>>
>>5265610
You do realize shipping goes up when you order more, right? Shipping for my October order was close to fifty bucks for 25k worth of stuff. Factoring in shipping, yen is just about exactly 100:1 no matter how much you buy.
>>
>>5265616
>You do realize shipping goes up when you order more, right?

Uh, yeah. But there's a base cost + Weight after that.

If you have two figures, and you have them both shipped separately for some batshit insane reason, I guarantee it will cost more than having them both shipped together.

Obviously there are other factors, but I hope you can see my point.
>>
>>5265598

Looking forward to Polly, as well as the rest of the upcoming SPC figures.
>>
>>5265625
I've found with SAL there's only savings on going from 1 figure to 2, and beyond that it's all pretty much per weight, about $7 per figure. It's like $10 for a single figure though, so the savings aren't that much.
and being in Canada, SAL/RSAL is the only good option.

>>5265598
Oh fuuuuck! Both clear and white joints look great!
>>5265977
I don't even see a listing out of stock for clear ones. Might these be available elsewhere?

>I include shipping when I consider purchasing a figure you idiot

nigga how are we supposed to know that. shipping has many factors that effect the cost. You can't just add what you would personally expect to pay for shipping and expect everyone to know what you are talking about. You are already losing precision by converting to USD. Might as well shout out a random number.

I have that one in the pic coming sometime soon. The first two did pretty well, though there seemed to be a bunch of small QC issues. The air plane ones like the one in the pic ended up being a pretty big let down, as they are nowhere near the same as the promo shots (missing details, colors, shading, etc)

Then don't try to correct me as to how much I would have to pay for it. If I say it would cost $60, that's how much it would cost to have it imported to me. Now go back to stressing about which hot pocket you're going to eat.
>>
>>5265598
....ok, we gotta keep pursuing this. The thing is, I've been buying aftermarket joints from several different companies for a while now, and I've never seen a Revo-sized alternative cast in clear plastic. Those look great and we need to find out where to get them. I hope they're not homemade recasts...
>>
Anyone built one of those Phantasy Star Online Racaseal kits before? I don't know much about them but I found a couple for around 1k yen each so I bought them.

Oh my gosh, I am so excited for this figure! I normally don't buy toys or figures. The only ones I have now are a SHFiguarts Sailor Moon, and a Frauline Revoltech Asuka. But when I saw this Polynian Yume posted on /m/ a few months back I instantly pre-ordered it.

I don't even know what Polynian is (I think it's just toys? no game or anime it's based off of?), but this is just 100% cute!
>>
>>5265335
I wonder how Yume's skirt will work. I'll admit, I'm a little apprehensive...it looks like Gundam skirts. I hope they're not detachable, I fucking hate the feeling of posing legs and then OOPS, side skirt popped off.

The latter, like the Roll kit and the Frame Arm Girl kits (and, y'know, GunPla). I got and assembled Pest-X and, while she looks good, my hamhanded efforts are not something I want to share here due to rampant flash nubbing...it's part of what makes me hesitant to assemble Stylet now.

There is also an action figure one as well, with removable clothes, swappable hands, and an impressive weapons loadout. It also came in a box identical to the one from the manga, complete with in-universe ad copy and corporate logos, which is a nice touch.

Initial I tried using my university's FDM printer but I had a lot of adhesion and warping problems because of the nature of the print and the fact that nobody has given that printer a loving tuning ever. So I ordered a pair off shapeways. I was thinking about selling a few if there was interest but I am not sure how exactly to go about it or if I want to yet. If I were to sell it should I order a batch myself and resell them or make the print public on shapeways and let people order it through them.
>>
>>5280255
You have at least one definite buyer if you sell them here. I don't know what kind of take shapeways takes or how that even works, honestly. Keep in mind doll shoes are somewhere around ten bucks at 1/12 scale. I'd definitely pay 15 shipped for a pair and if you sold them, you could toss them in a bubble mailer. Should be about 1.50 for the envelope and 2.50 for the shipping.

But I have no experience with shapeways, so you'd have to decide which is better/easier/more profitable.

What would Shamrock look when he grows up?
He already has a penis and Yume has a grandfather and goes to highschool, Polynian lore is crazy.
>>
>>5278672
So they do exist, which we knew already.
But the point still stand that it looks like Hobby Base themselves never produced them.

there are clear, red and blue joints all labled "Akihabara Limited" and clearly in diferent packaging than real hobby base joints.
>>
>>5278979
No one got "btfo".
The ebay listings are actually proof that the clear joints are custom made re-casts.
Hobby Base don't make them.

There's pictures of the model kit, but it's hard to make out with the part being out of frame. I suspect the whole blue part is one piece.

>>5278672
Sold out now.

Anyone know details on the size of the joints?
I see the quantities of each joint in that clear set are like 3x, 3x, 4x, and 1x. and I can't find info on what size joints the figure has. I wonder if it needs two of these sets. It's got to, there's just too many joints. The figure has 12-13 and the kit has 11, and most not in even pairs.
Plus >>5274103 about the small wrist joints. I wonder if they're smaller than 6mm, or if the peg holes are smaller than the 3mm that are all the peg sizes of that clear set.
>>
>>5280640
Clover s joint sizes are:
2x large for the hips
3X medium for knees and chest
4x small for ankles and shoulders
2x Xsmall for elbows
2x XXsmall for wrists

so you need 2 sets.
the set doesnt have the XXsmall size but in >>5265598 it looks like they just used more elbow (Xsmall) joins and it looks okay.

you have to cut down some of the joints to make them fit and will probably have to modify the wrist ones alot.

Okay so for the sake of simplicity and the fact that I don't think many people will want these I put them up on Shapeways, if you go to their website and search Polynian they will be the only result.
>>
>>5281199
And ordered. Free shipping since I've never used Shapeways, so I actually bought two pairs, one for Clover and one for Shamrock.
>>
>>5280484
You can swap the parts if you'd like for futa Clover and loli Shamrock, or a medley of other stuff. Kinda like MoMos.

Yes anon, but are you buying any?

Speaking of, that little debate about joints makes me think, "oh, maybe I could just make my own figures or so on this Shapeways thing and give 'em Hobbybase joints". What a pleasant thought.

Annon with the printed heels here. That is my plan, I got the heels in the mail the same day I saw in this thread that the ball joints are generic, its all coming together.
If anybody wants know about modeling part to work with mechanical tolerances I would be happy to talk about it.

>>5281329
Thank you and I am glad to hear about the shipping.
>>
>>5281451
I think I'll be buying some heels soon too, but I'm wholly fresh-faced on this 3D-print-to-order thing. How do you ensure the hobbybase joints fit in the parts you make from the modeling software?

So before I knew the joints were standard I pulled them out of the figure and took a whole bunch of measurements off them with a digital caliper. Every measurements that I could take I recorded but the important ones were the diameter of the ball and peg and the length of the peg. I also measured the inside of the peg hole in the foot as best as I could but I was not sure how accurate measurement I got. Taking the peg and ball measurement I compared those to the hole measurement and figured the clearance between the parts was about 0.2 to 0.3mm which was about in line with what research told me was a viable part clearance. From there I took my shoe mesh which was made in separate software, not scaled correctly and did not have any peg holes and imported it in to a free CAD package. I made a dummy box (seen in pic between shoes) that had the same dimensions as Shamrock's original foot and used that to guess what a good size to scale the shoes to. I then took a ball and cylinder and made them the same size as the real ball joint plus 0.3mm. (The pointy ball-ish things in the pic are the ball and cylinder plus some modification to smooth things out) From there I could subtract the stand-in ball joint from the volume of the mesh to carve a hole in it that would fit the real ball joint.
Sorry if anything I said was unclear, let me know if you have any question.

I am not happy with either model yet so I am not sure which way it will go, if anybody has any other suggestion I would be up for hearing them.
>>
>>5281727
Damn.
Honestly some of the process seems like it came from a lot of different formats of stuff clashing at once and uncertainty about the measurements you mentioned. If you have the initial measurements for the joints, and an idea of the scale from the start plus a blank slate (perhaps with the exception of joint templates) in the model-to-print program, would it be faster, or simpler to create a conceptual custom figure?
>>
>>5281786
I defiantly had a lot of crazy stuff going on, now that I have a better idea of what is happening I want to streamline the process a bit. But yes, knowing the dimensions of the hobbybase joints and how much clearance is needed (like you said you could make joint templates for this) I think it makes the process very doable.

The biggest issue is that traditional modeling programs use polygon based models (that is what my background is in) they are very good for making complex shapes but not so good when it comes to measurements. Conversely CAD software is really great for inputting precise measurement and letting you be confident that they will come out the size that you want but they are not great for creating complex forms particularly ones that are not strictly based on mathematically definable lines and curves. That is why I modeled the heels in blender and finished them in 123d design, but I am hoping to cut 123d out of the loop but I need to look in to that more.

Heels annon here, as I have been playing with my pair over the last few days I have discovered that the socket that that receives the ankle ball joint has become a little loser as some of the manufacturing residue has come lose. Its not a super big deal and it has only happened to one shoe so far. I think that a coat of paint that extends inside the sock will be more then enough to tighten it back up if it becomes an issue for anybody else, I will experiment with that tonight. Sorry, I wish I had caught this before I made it available but I wanted to let everyone who has bought a pair, or two, know.

Aside from those ones, I don't think any Picco Neemo pants have been released yet, actually. There are shorts, but those are all comfy and easy to wear. And plenty of stockings, but those all stretch.

Mine are still on the way... I've never worked with anything 3D printed before, but I want to be prepared. Is the texture super bumpy and rough? Would I have to sand it before painting if I want to, or is the roughness so slight that a coat of paint or three would smooth it out?

>>
>>5293156
Thank you and sorry again about the loose fit thing. My next parts will account for it.

>>5293803
The texture is pretty rough but you may or may not feel the need to sand it. I think the bigger issue is the powered material left over from manufacturing, it could interfere with paint adhesion or give you a uneven coat. The parts I received were perhaps not super thoroughly cleaned and and that lead me to believe the fit was better then it was. All I did was rinse them out under the faucet when I probably needed to go over them with a tooth brush or pipe cleaners.

Also on the note of panting there are a few guide lines on the shapeways website for painting this material. They only make claims that it works with water and solvent based acrylics, solvent based cellulose spray paints, acetate solvent or acrylic based nail varnishs, and oil paints. I would bet that that list is not comprehensive but if you have any suspicions that the solvent in your paint would break down nylon don't use it. Other then that its of note that the material is porous and will soak up paint, on particularly thin sections paint might even soak though to the other side of the surface. So if you are going to try to paint detail or more then one colour I would make sure you are confident in your base coat.
