>Kotobukiya is making reproduction kits for Arnval and Strarf based on new Machineca (マシニーカ) bodies designed by Apsy.
>Plastica.jp will sell blank bodies once he's happy with the final design.
>Megami Device (メガミデバイス) is another proposed line using that new body, so they'll be compatible too. They could be GKs, model kits, or figures. Too soon to know.
>Frame Arms Girl continues with an unarmored kit plus the architect is up next, with another mech on the way.
>Blade teamed up with Megahouse to make some cheaper, 8cm tall 1:1 battle robot figures called Desktop Army. Their plan includes 3d printable add-ons to appeal to customizers.
tldr it's a good time to be a Shinkifag.

Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid Latvia.
>Mandarake - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images (they sometimes get mixed up).
>Yahoo Japan Auctions - same kanji as above, you'll need a proxy, try Noppin or FromJapan.
>Taobao - search 武装神姬 and use a proxy like Taobaoring, Taoboafocus, or Bhiner.
>Amiami occasionally gets some preowned. They tend to sell fast.
>Check the BST, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World for sales.

>My biggest concern has been trying to figure out how to sew such small sleeves on, which is why I started with something sleeveless.

What I did was to turn the shirt outside out, the sleeve inside out and then I pushed the sleeve's sean allowance throught the armhole from the inside. That way, I felt I had pretty good control over their overlap and it allowed me to just push the sleeve outwards afterwards.

Causes serious fitting-issues though and means that I lose a lot of control over where the sleeves end up, I think, so next time I'll seriously use the classic methode in which the side-seam along the sleeve and the side of the skirt's the last to be closed up.

Thanks for the laugh.
You'd be surprised how many smalltime Japanese producers don't know how to cast or don't want to spend money on good quality supplies.

never cast resin in his life.jpg

Problem with cheap color additives (or any cheap shit that touches resin in general) is that they contain water which creates bubbles continuously up to the moment the resin sets so even in vacuum you still end up with swiss cheese. The more you know.

>>5229454
That means they used expensive pigments that don't fuck up the resin. Make no mistake, you paid for those pigments and you shouldn't have to if you're painting it anyway.

Mine is sitting in a box, built and unfinished, because I can't be bothered when I own the chogokin.

How compatible are the FAGs with Shinkies?
I'm considering getting one of these once I get my first chinky to upgrade the body.

I think you can put FAGs heads on shinki bodies, if the FAG legs have buttcheeks molded just forget about it, shinki ribcage connecto to the torso via balljoint, if the FAG body does you can probably do it or modiffy it to do so, and shinki arms are connected to the ribcaje via swivel joints.

Sometimes, agents of justice and servants of the law don’t quite get along, and dramatic standoffs occur as ideologies clash and heated words are spoken.

…or, they just stand there pointing at each other and reciting cliche’s from their favorite TV shows. Ren really hopes they finish soon; it’s been going on for hours now and she’d really like to watch Rick and Morty.

After annoying the hell out of you for several threads now I'm finally building her. Being completely hamfisted doesn't help, but regardless she's turning out pretty cute. Still lots of armor and parts to do, but I'm mostly worried about not being able to apply the eye decals right. In terms of the procedure as much as putting them in the right place.

>>
>>5238451
Your best bet is probably to buy a decal sheet and dick around with those. You probably should get a good tweezer as well, because applying decals with fingers seems to be a recipe for desaster.
>>
>>5238802
>scratchbuilding
Woah. Too high level for me.

Amlita's not really harder to build than Gourai or a Gundam kit once you have the tools, I think. It takes a long time since you've got to drill holes and all that, but that's pretty easy. Plus she's molded in the right colors so no painting required (unlike Gourai that looks way too dull unpainted).

One of the annoying things though is that my fingers hurt like hell cutting off the nubs because the parts are really small. The other being trying to figure out which parts are left and right because they're not numbered on the runners and the instructions don't quite make it very clear. Also, I think using drill bits 0.1mm less than stated in the instructions would've worked better, the holes ended up being slightly looser than necessary, especially the 3mm ones.

>>5238805
I've bought a sheet, actually - I want my catgirl to have green eyes as opposed to the default purple ones. Got some home and makeup tweezers around, was going to use those, but it wouldn't make my hands less shaky so I'm still terrified as fuck.

The decals say that a clear coat is necessary but I hope they stick fine enough without it.
>>
>>5238851
>Woah. Too high level for me.

I got back into the hobby via papercraft, so IMO it's not that hard, just time-consuming.

The main problem is that you gotta plan all the parts from the ground up and you end up redoing most bits three times before you approach the optimum you're aiming for. But as you got all the plans anyway, messing up repeatedly is unproblematic and cheap compared to messing up a commercial kit.

My biggest problem is that I can't figure out how to make vector mathematics work for me, because with that, I could most likely calculate all the true lenghts and angles from the elevations alone.

Thanks for the pointers about the drill bits. I'll keep it in mind.

>Got some home and makeup tweezers around, was going to use those, but it wouldn't make my hands less shaky so I'm still terrified as fuck.

If you're trying to optimize that, you probably should think about applying the decals at late morning or early evening, whichever time you're the most relaxed and the least jittery.

>>
>>5238851
Don't apply them without a glossy clearcoat first. You're just asking for silvering if you do that.

Also might want to get some mark setter and mark softener. Look it up, they're pretty nice. There's also decal specific use tweezers out there with a rubber tip so it won't tear up the decals asuch as a set of metal ones.

>>

Not him. Don't know much about it, but I've seen them on e2046. Kijin Kikaku kits or something. I believe you have to build and assemble everything, like most resin kits.

Of course I messed up the decal placement a bit. Should have probably used 110% scale eyes and placed them further apart, but it's really hard to tell until you let it dry and put the hair back. But since I have a sample now I can probably do better with the next two and maybe even redo this one later. It's not like I have any other use for these decals.

Anyway, here's my catgirl, albeit without armor so far.

>>5239237
Thanks, I'll make sure to get some next time, though I can't exactly spray in my apartment and it's dusty and cold outside so there's another riddle to solve by then.

>silvering
Wow, that even has a name. I noticed a tiny bit of it, didn't really know what to do but you have to look really close to see it so I decided to let it be.

>>5239552
It's a garage kit, I think Desktop Army is going to be way simpler parts and articulation-wise and I assume it's gonna be pre-built. Also, I don't even think it's out yet.

I've always sucked at papercraft so hard

I would go with what advice you got over at the scale model already. Vallejo does not have nearly as nice a match up out of bottle as the mr Color those guys suggested. Closest I could spot with vallejo is sky blue, but Werk clearly (to my eye from pictures at least) has just a slight hint of green.
>>
>>5239579

Just in case you guys mostly stick to this thread, someone's selling a ton of shinkis over in the BST. Pretty good prices, too, unlike that last guy. Like Renge and Gabrine together for 120. Last time I saw Renge, she was 10k on her own and I haven't even seen a Gabrine in months.

The feet really weirded me out at first, but I'm getting used to them. Looks much better armored-up, too, as you get these nice cat feet with wheels that add some of the lacking height and heft.

Ichikawa did add normal feet to his next prototype, but it looks too BJD-ish for my taste, I'm not sure if he's even going to use it for the Kijins, probably some other GK line.

Sewing is very simple. I hand sew all my shinki clothes since my machine never does well with things that small, which makes it more time consuming but technically simpler. Glue would technically work, but it never looks as good and it's not as durable, and if a seam rips, it generally means the entire item is ruined instead of the simple fix it would be with needle and thread.

Honestly something like that is really simple to make yourself. Get some appropriately thick styrene, cust out a small square, drill a ~3mm hole in its center, fit it ono the arm peg, measure and trim off the excess. You will have to paint it though, but black or grey are some of the easiest colors to paint ever.

Or just wait for the materia body since it looks to have something close.

Are the FAGs supposed to be robots like the shinkis?
>>
>>5258505

I always thought they were supposed to be real girls, at least that's how I imagine them. But I don't think there's anything official.
>>
>>5252689
Where is that awesome looking dino robot from?
>>
>>5258524
It looks like a HG Danazine from Gundam AGE painted red to me.
>>
>>5258505
They're mecha musume of the Frame Arms. So either they are girls wearing armor, Cyborgs with swappable limbs, robots, tiny robots, or giant mechs.

Your pick.

It's an AGE Danazine that got its wings replaced with an 1/12 chair.

Remember to occasionally build dumb shit for your Shinki.

Once i combined all of my shinkies ranged weapons using Ianeira's beam cannon as basis to make a Power Ranger's-like fuck off blaster, it was heavy.

Stop motion in general is a huge pain the ass. Invest in a tripod, a shutter remote, and proper lighting. Should make things a teeny bit easier.

Anyone has this FAG?
Is she worth the 100 dollaridoos that she, a Materia Girl because Kotobukiya thought it would be funny to not give her alternate unarmed limbs, and the upgrade kit with the actually useful weapons cost?
>>

>100 dollaridoos
I don't think she cost that much when I bought her. Where are you buying?

He's 16. Got him a Mao-Chao and Pomock last year, seen here, but he's more into the military ones (swiped my Fort Bragg right out of the shipping box, decided to let him keep her). Got him Eukrante for his birthday this year, which he specifically asked for.

Lately, he's been getting more into GunPla, though he's been eyeing my Stylet and Hide Pool kits.
>>
>>5261416
Wait, AmiAmi has the upgrade weapons back in stock? They were sold out last I checked!
>>
>>5261566
Nah, I'm waiting for it and Materia Normal to go back in stock so I don't have to deal with SAL twice.
>>
>>5261510
Oh, right. My reading comprehension fails me.

Does anyone know if screen printing is effective at all on doll sized clothes, specifically ~1/12 scale? Or would making a stencil and going for airbrushing be better? Or should I got ask the BJD thread?

Saw this picture and I instantly knew that I needed a Mecha Milk shirt for my shinkis and FAGs.
>>
>>5262195
Cutting your own stencil for text would probably be too fiddly at that scale. Even if you go down the screen print route, stenciling onto fabric may be tricky as the fabric weave is so apparent at that scale. Embroidery or fabric transfer paper would probably work best.
>>
>>5262349
Can't believe I didn't think of fabric transfer paper at all. That'll probably work best, thanks.
