Is Figma Snake the best Snake action figure?

I'm hoping it is as I have other figmas
>>
He's not a bad figure, but the quality of the face (or better, the paint job) differs heavily from figure to figure.
It's also not as nice as on the promo pictures.

However, he's still a good figure and if you are into Figmas and can deal with a so-so face I'd say get him.

Obviously some Anons tend to exaggerate his issues, but if you aren't into taking macro shots of his face and maybe just want to play with him/use him as decoration you are fine.
>>
>>5225643
Yes. Though it's not flawless.
>>
>>5225651
>>5225653
Great thanks
>>
not op but What about those Revol Minis? Been thinking bout snagging one...
>>
>>5225651
Same. His face doesn't look anything like the promo shots in your pic OP.
It's so-so
>>
>>5225670
It's really fun. My only major complaint is the face is a bit derpy at some angles, but it's overall a solid figure.
>>
>>5225708

Awesome. Now I just have to hope and pray for a Liquid mini and nano

pretty good articulation for a figma which could come loose in some figures sadly, and a not very good paintjob on the face, but you should know that many promo pics are prototypes and the final product WILL vary in some form or degree, sadly in this case it was the face, if you can deal with that go for it, since it's the best figure snake in his mgs2 sneaking suit that we have at the moment.

I really want a Solid Snake fig.

Figma seems a little pricy plus I am not a fan of the MGS2 sneaking suit.

The revoltechmini I keep hearing so much shit on that both good and bad.

but for 30$ it seems tempting

So I am deciding to start a snake collection

Solid its either gonna be Figma or Revoltech
Big Boss I was thinking the Peace Walker sneaking suit revoltech has or does anyone know a good Big Boss in Snake Eater Fatigues? I prefer the eye patch version
Venom the only worth while one looks like the Vulcanlog or that revoltech one

Anyone got any tips on what to buy?
>>

That looks like shit.
>>
>>5226407
>That huge gap in the leg

Fuck Solid Snake aged horribly after MGS4, even after dyeing his hair brown again.
>>

>>
>>5226467
There's no alternative for a 1/12 Solid, but there are two versions of the Revo Big Boss.
The PW one is the most common, but there was a version from Ground Zeroes that had alternate items and a different head.
Vulcanlog (aka Revoltech 2.0) Sneaking Venom's face looks wonky.
Your best bet for Solid and Venom are the RevoMinis.

Not the most popular figure clearly, but he's certainly the best Solid Snake figure we've gotten so far. Lots of fun.
>>
>>5226376
I got the Revolmini after seeing the Figma's price. At first I was disappointed because the articulation is really weird and you can't exactly get it to move certain ways and the sculpt gives him a weird hunch thing. But after you learn how his joints work and it's limits, it's a lot of fun to pose and when it looks good, it looks real good.

Tl;Dr go for it anon
>>
>>5225643
I wish we had as many options affordable for Solid as we do Big Boss in the 6 inch scale.
I mean, we only have one 6 inch Big Boss to be fair, but he's decently priced.

There's no way I'll be able to afford the Figma Solid. I'd even take just an upscaled Revolmini if I had to.

Stealth suit has ugly gapping at the waist/chest.

Fatigues version is pretty good if you don't want to be stuck up about his long neck.

Every snake figure has flaws.
>>
>>5225670
For what it's worth, RevolMini has much more value for the price but Figma is better overall

Honestly imo. If he was 40$ cheaper I would say yes. I actually like the revolmini better but the scale kills it for me. I have a limited edition ground zeroes revo snake coming to me. Once I get that Ill have a final opinion. Luckily due to his ridiculous price he seems to be shelfwarming and a lot of places are dropping his price significantly. This is the best Snake figure. Better than jungle fatigues Big Boss. GZ Big Boss would come close if not for the iffy face though.
>>
>>5225643
He's really excellent and can pull off poses most Snakes could only dream about. That being said, his joints might be a tad loose and restrictive sometimes in the backward movement on the shoulder area. His head from around the middle of his nose to his headband is a little off, but it's not terrible if ou get a good figure. It's not terribly noticable though, and a small price to pay for what is the best mgs2 snake figure, and better than most other offerings including the PAK. It can get a bit expensive for what it is though. I hoestly thought I would hate it and flip it as soon as i got my hands on him, but I love him more than most figma I've owned.
That being said, I wish I could've made some improvments back when the thing was in proto but all in all a solid 8.5/10 figure.

>>5228466
I had this, it was bad for the price it retailed and is currently going for. Huge but felt fragile, all the joints were stiff and felt like they'd snap if you posed them, even after the hot water treatment. It also jiggled around a lot when you shook it even a tiny bit, so leaving it posed would cause it to fall over. PAK can do so much better, they just don't because they can get away with it. I'd say it's worth it if you had to have the MGS1 design and they were more reasonably priced. But you might as well buy a hot toys with how much it's going for now.

Man, wish more 3rd parties would make MGS figures. Want a bunch of em and a figma punished snake. Maybe someday.
>>
>>5228464
I loved the prototype and waited so long to see him finally painted, lost all my interest when I saw the finished product.
So fucking disappointing.
>>
>>5228316
if you look in his holsters that what he has in the game, though

I have him and I'd be willing to sell. I've taken him out of the box a couple of times but for the most part he's been in there since 2008. Articulation is hindered, but poses like holding the gun with two hands work fine.

For the actual likeness of the character: SS Figma

for the definitive best figure: PAK SS

The problem with SS is, that theres no official design source for his MGS1 design. i mean, the only thing sculptors could design MGS1 SS from would be ingame footage with 0 detail depth. the PAK design is losely based on a FOX Engine render of his MGS1 style, thats where his meth-esque look comes from, and i think this fits well.

ALL the other toylines except these too are just too dated and shitty.

of course it is based on shinkawa's design! how could silicon knights get their 3d models made without the original design? geez if you think he also made the mgs1 polygon snake, you're wrong.
>>
>>5231046
the design for Twin Snakes was done by Ryūhei Kitamura.
>>
>>5229041
a lot of people were, and still are, mad. It honestly makes sense when you get it in hand with all the new joints they designed, as well as the thought put into making him work just right, but I feel they could've gotten away with much less new engineering.

i think it depends on the figure, people have said that their gripping hands are too loose, yet mine are still tight so he can keep that positition at least half a minute (i haven't tried for a longer time yet)
i would recomend you to not store those hands in the thing that figmas usually come, so the peghole doesn't get too big and loose, with that the only thing you should take care is the joint not slipping from the arm

Yeah, it's a wash so it's luck of the draw. My Snake had way too much wash on his face, which made him look either super dirty or super old, so the alcohol treatment was kind of necessary.

I had him in hand for a few days, I was scared to do anything with him because he just felt like this beefy figure held together by chintzy pins. I shook him once and the whole thing was shaking like an insecure jenga tower, and I couldn't get the hands swapped out without sweating.

I flipped him for tons of profit, but I threw in a bonuc because no one should have to deal with paying that much for a figure for nothing.

It looks good, but it's cheap and flimsy. No idea how the new PAK is, but if I see PAK Venom in a shop I might just pick it up and see if they've improved.

don't have any problems like this with any of my PAKs and i'm really treating them like shit, even quiet.
>>
>>5242222
You got lucky. There were posts when Grey fox came out with his arm shearing off out of the box, along with snake's pads falling off.

PAK has always been hit and miss, I've been told it's been different post Warrior of Light, but I wouldn't know since it's 120+ dollars for each one now.

Exactly though I like TPPs sneaking suit design I am trying to look for a big boss with fatigues or else I gotta settle with a minirevol PW big boss

Pak Regular (Green Camo) Venom snake or Gold Camo Venom Snake?

I can't decide, all I know is I don't need another sneaking suit.

well you didnt specify a certain snake figure
so

this

this is the best.

Gold Camo will probably be worth more in a few years, since its limited. so if thats a point, i'd pick the golden one.

i actually kinda regret having the green one already, but gold was announced right after i got it..

That's a really weird and obscure choice of clothes from Snake Eater. I never even saw this suit while playing the game and I'd wager most people didn't. Why didn't they just do the standard uniform you're wearing the whole fucking game?

Still a good looking figure, though I'm not a fan of the suit design at all.
>>
>>5246542

its really easy to port most of the equipment to a good set of jungle fatigues, and the accessories are amazing (The box, ration, weapons, claymore, etc) it really makes him stand out.

Just finding Jungle or Tiger Strip fatigues that actually work is tough.

According to the Royal Mail site like £30 shipping alone. It'd be pricey man.

I'm thinking of getting the Skull Face PAK because it's going to be the only figure of him, but it looks kind of weird. Does anyone have it?

Same guy from here >>5241939

I've got most of the MGS PAK, (all but the MGSV ones, MGS2 Raiden, and two of the PW BBs) and yeah Snake and Fox are really fragile. Same with Solidus, he's worse. He came out of the box broken, and oddly enough even his box was fragile as it fell apart where it should have been taped/glued.

They do seem to have improved though, if GZ Big Boss is anything to go by. Or maybe it's just that I never really touched him and haven't had the opportunity to fuck him up. I think PW Fatigues BB is probably the nicest of the bunch, aside from his head falling off with the slightest movement

It's really not that obscure considering he's got multiple official renders in which he wears that. I'm pretty sure he's wearing it on the Japanese cover of Snake Eater 3D, too.
>>
Figma is awesome, the box is way better than the Revoltech Big boss, they're both pretty sturdy, revoltech has more weight, figma is stiff. The Revoltech mini is really fun but tricky to get right, the figma box fits perfect and the socom and fit the figma if you didn't get the exclusive. (it fits a bit loose compared to the tranq gun that comes with figma)

i couldnt get over the awful Widows peak Yamaguchi gave venom snake in his Mini Revol Line. so i improvised a Bandana for him instead, as it is the uniform that i use in the game anyways so it reflects my current character settings.
>>
>>5261592
What'd you use for the bandanna? Looks like a shoelace

I wanted to get this figure as a Christmas present to someone who doesn't know an awful lot about figures. Sadly the differing quality of the faces put me off.

I went for the Solid Snake Nendoroid instead. It arrived today and even though it looks awesome, it's significantly smaller than other Nendoroids I've seen. It was pretty expensive and I'm starting to doubt whether it's good enough for a Christmas present, I might have to throw in another present as well.

Did I do the right thing?

If that's you, you good job wearing the bandanna correctly. Most Snake cosplays look pretty bad because people don't cover their eyebrows. How do people not get this? It's his whole look.

However, you should get some non-fingerless gloves.
>>
>>5265867
Samefag here, yes it is me in the cosplay of snake. Im working on the gloves he has ingame. And i do agree the cosplayers who dont make the bandana ride the top of the eye and follow the brow line to the beginning of the ear pisses me off to extremes. Its like yes you have the costume correctly but why did you do the bandana wrong
