What are the best Halo figures, any lines to avoid/ specifically go for?

Are there any Warthogs made in the same size as the figure lines?
>>
>>5208899
there'll never be a good articulated elite except the subpar mcfarlane ones
>>
>>5208899
Those two mcfarlane mk6 spartans fit the reach warthog better than any other figures imo. McFarlane may have 28 points of articulation but, have shitty range overall.
>>
I have the Play Arts Kai Anniversary Chief and Spartan Warrior. I'm pretty happy with them, but I've heard bad things about the rest of the line.
>>
If you're okay with the scale, PAK is the way to go. There are some missteps here and there but they're serviceable figures.

Ignore anything from 3A like the plague, especially the Master Chief.
>>
Had a couple of the mcfarlane halo 2 figs in the old bst but I really wish I'd gotten some of the ODSTs when I had the chance. Eyeballing the Halo 2 kai chief cause its the only play arts that doesn't look like shit.
>>
The new 3A ones look pretty good.

The range on the joints isn't that bad, but it is limited.

pic of what poses you can do before modification, which is usually just shaving away at the sculpt near the joints.

I've got a few reach Spartans i got from target years ago but they are so hard to stand up

that's funny because i just did the same thing. I was looking at the halo 5 Kotobukiya one but twice the price and low articulation seemed not worth it.

Here is why I think you are a trill, where us one pic of extended articulation halo figs? None. Hell, I would be interested in doing that to a few of mine.
>>
>>5215719
Koto guy here, never cause we cant have fully articulated figures due to licensing. So there is only so much we can do.
>>
>>5219266

>cant have fully articulated figures due to licensing

that doesn't make sense. explain. engineering articulated joints sounds absolutely irrelevant to what the licensed merchandise itself is.
>>
>>5219298
See the thing is like this, are you aware of our star war ArtFX+ figures? those have some simple articulation like swivel the head or rotate the hands and thats it. We cant go full articulation because hasbro has the US license for fully articulated figures. Is the same reason you cannot buy the SH Figuarts here but have to import cause Hasbro would sue the living shit off off Bandai japan. Now you might be saying but i seen articulated figures from SW else where at the disney store, and the explanation for that is those figures are bigger then 6inches and the hasbro license for figures is only within that scale so anything bigger is free game for anyone. So know that u know that this is why we cant have fully articulated figures because Macfarlane has the license for full articulation at the 6inch scale.
So there you go.
>>
>>5210795

Skeptical that you really do for for Koto, but wondering, since Koto is a japan based company? wouldnt it work like bandai does? not allowed to directly sell to North America, but be available for import
>>
>>5219944
It could, but Kotobukiya seems to like their US sales and their sales for statueshit seem good enough for them not to care for fully articulated figures.
>>
>>5219091
Got mine too, shits fucking cash. For what i payed for him i'm incredibly satisfied dudes as tall as my GF's statueshit, wish he came with an AR or a BR but i'm definitely pleased. I'd ask for an Arbiter but i don't trust PAK to make something else i like.. as this is literally the only one i can vouch for saying i like the look of it.

>>
>>5219298
Like >>5219318 says, there are tons of crazy little details in licencing agreements over things like figures. This is to help keep one company from having a complete and total monopoly on big licenses. Know why some Funko pops are Bobble Heads and some aren't? Because hasbro had a license that says they have ful rights to making vinyls figures of Marvel, But adding a simple bobble feature gets around that.

License agreements can be a real PITA to deal with man, good friend of mine is a Patent and License lawyer and he complains about this stuff often.
>>
>>5208899
since no one else seemed to really Answer you. There are currently two Warthogs made that can fit McFarlane figures. You got the Reach hog, which is the most compatible with the McFarlanes since it is afterall a McFarlane and there are 2 weapon upgrade sets to change the turret on the back to either Missiles or Guass. Good luck finding the McFarlane Hog for a decent price though.

Far more recent and thus easier and a bit chaper to get is the Jada diecast hog from halo 4. Sadly it is a smaller scale so figures have to really crouch to use the turret which can't be height adjusted, and some figures can fit in the seats barely while others can not at all. On the plus side the die cast has a ton ton more detail and stuff going on then the McFarlane. It also comes in 2 paint jobs IIRC, a normal and a dirtied version
>>
>>5220294
>>5220296
Looks to anorexic, but I guess it could have been worse due to the PAK styling.
>>
>>5220630
The biggest thing is the head seems a bit small. For the price it's nice though
>>
How is Mcfarlane Halo 5 Fred? How is the leg articulation? Not looking for miracles, just basic movements
>>
Any worth while ODST figures?
>>
>>5221776
If you look at the picture of the Halo 5 McFarlane Chief (the one with his legs kind of far apart), that's about the extent of the hip movement for the entire H5 series.
>>
I got the Halo:CE Anniversary Chief. I liked the look and it's the only one with that design. But holy shit you guys.
I mean there's 'articulation limited by sculpt' and then there's this. 28 points of articulation my ass.
>head up/down is a negligible amount
>barely moves at the shoulders
>elbows move ~45 degrees
>knees about 30 degrees
>clicky joints on ankle but knees are loose and floppy
>all joints hard to turn if they get flipped around the wrong way
>limbs don't seem to be removable
>why even have an ab crunch when it barely moves
>Halo 3 rifle
>holds the piece in front of the trigger with his thumb because no trigger finger
>have to force him to hold his gun because elbows can't bend
>tips over super easily
I mean holy shit all I can say is at least he looks cool
>>
>>5222413
There is a reason these only cost $12 at the time. That said I really do love the reach line, though I do admit they aren't the best
>>
>>5222539

>>5222539
what a dumb thing to say.

If you want to free up the joints to have more motion, they'd just cut away at the sculpt or position the joints further apart from the sculpt. That doesn't cost more.

If the guy was complaining about a poor paint job or a poor sculpt, yeah, that might have to do with it costing $12, but he isn't.
Besides, McFarlane doesn't skimp on the quality of their sculpts. They used to go all out with paint, but they have skimped since the 00s, yet they still produce high-mid or low-high tier paint jobs

pic of $7 super articulated awesomeness you won't find on anywhere else. Obviously, you get what you pay for: shit tier paint, redecoed body, and extremely mushy sculpts.

does anybody know what the best halo 2 master chief figure is?
>>
>>5224998
PAK. Maybe not perfect but the best one available all things considered. See >>5220574
>>
>>5224998
Either PAK or Halo 2 Anniversary Chief.

PAK is anorexic, but besides that looks better. It isn't exactly the most articulated figure, but as long as you are ok with its scale and price point, it should do you fine. The Mcfarlane Halo 2 ver is cheaper and closer to scale to your figmas, SHFs etc, and it has better articulation than the PAK (outside the hips, were both suck for different reasons). Its cheap as fuck though.

Seriously I'd just get both so you can have the "best" figure, while also having one that can be posed with your collection; while we wait for someone to finally get the Halo 2 design right.

So I'll either be buying the Mcfarlane Halo 1 Cheif or Halo 2 Cheif today. Who owns them? I'm leaning towards Halo 1 Cheif since CE was my favorite, but he's a little more expensive and a bit more hassle it ordet. Halo 2 Cheif looks Excellent and has a good amount of accesories, but appatently can't hold his weapons for shit. What are some of your guy's thoughts on the two. Good or bad.
>>
>>5228691
It's late. Disregard my sloppy post. Any help is appreciated.
>>
>>5228691
I have Halo 1 Cheif. He certainly looks very nice but his articulation is abysmal. I also think the lower legs on mine might be reversed, and if they're not they can look a bit awkward at times. I certainly don't regret buying him as a 7$ impulse buy from target, though. Not sure what he goes for now.
>>
>>5228691
>>5228729
I'd also like to add that he's kind of small causing him to not really look right when posing with stuff around Figuarts/Figma height, which is a shame.

And if Amazon has the standard asking price for him i would probably recommend you pass.
>>
>>5228737
I don't mind the articulation being a bit restricted, but he does seen to have very few viable poses. One reason why i was leaning towards him was his head up on 2's height, but it seems he's still a bit short. Right now I could get him for about $26-28 bucks and Halo 2 Chief for $20. Bit steap?
>>
>>5228737
Also, if you have a chance, would you mind posting him in a few poses? Something like this, or holding his AR?

Well you heard wrong.
The series 6 Rookie was rushed through production to get it on shelves but suffered brittle plastic at the wrists. That is the single notorious QC fail of McHalo figures.

Fortunately, he got a rerelease with the Anniversary figures, and it's a solid and great figure.

Chief looks cool, but I can't find many good reviews on him.
>>
>>5241740
The leg articulation on them all seem to be pretty shit. Is there a way to fix that? I hear people talk about modding them to add articulation, and that anthony customs dude in his review said you can clip the hips or something.
>>
>>5241752
I'd have to have it in hand. I'm waiting on my Halo CE Chief to come in right now. My roommate is pretty handy with models, so I'm going to see if he can clip the shoulder pads down a bit for better articultion.
>>
>>5241752
Has like old style ninja turtle ball hips. The position makes them go more inward than outward. Im not sure how to trim those to get better movement.

>>5241843
on the CE, its more the inner shoulder area on the front chest piece. Trim the first ridge off and it should allow a bit better two handed grip on guns.

The H3. With rubber hands that break when placing a plasma riffle in, and feet are better than the stupid reach elite, but still prone to shelf dive, and break. Yeah, never owned any.

With the prices now and the way plastic degrades over 10 years, I find it hard to suggest anyone get anything from the H3 line.
>>
>>5244547
>rubber hands
Haha literally what dude.
At least I know I can ignore the rest of your retarded and wrong claims. The "shelf dive" is especially laughable, considering they're the absolute most stable figure I've ever owned and I've owned about 300 figures from every brand you could name.
>>
>>5244624
The hands have no hinge, putting a weapon in there rips the two middle fingers.

The arbiter is the only one with a flat foot surface. The others are on tip toes with a ball. They tip over when you sneeze in a different room.

Given the facts the plastic was shit quality when it was new, age wont help it either, and aftermarket prices, just bit worth buying the 3 line. Just look at any mcfarlane halo 3 lot on ebay, 90% have at least 1 broken figure.
>>
>>5244660
Wow you're just hammering in the fact you've never owned these figures.

Yes the Anniversary Elites you pictured don't have hinges, but earlier H3 Elites do have a hand joint which makes holding guns on a whim a snap. But
>putting a weapon in there rips the two middle fingers
Are you a fucking retarded 6 year old? Jesus Christ man that's some dumb fucking shit.
Hair dryer it for 5 seconds and you can bend those spindly fingers to your hearts content. Getting them to hold anything is easy as fuck.

>The arbiter is the only one with a flat foot surface
To reiterate, the H3 Elites are EXTREMELY stable, so this claim makes it impossible at this point to claim you've owned these figures. Two legs that end in three-legged stools, and ankles that can aim in any direction? You'd have to be an invalid not to get these guys to stand. You can thrown them at a wall and they will land standing on the floor.

>they're old they're gonna break!
I've owned well over a hundred of these figures and the only break I've had is the notorious S6 Rookie's wrists (Rookie had an Anniversary re-release that was superb). So while you'd be one to go around tearing Elites hands apart if you had ever owned them, anyone with a partially functioning brain will be fine. A steel box can break if you abuse it like a retard.

>>

I know right. Every fucking thread. Same bullshit.

>I can throw a halo fig at the wall and he will land, holding his weapon in a two handed firing grip, in a dynamic crouch

I believe this faggot never owned a halo figure.

To reiterate, the H3 are notorious for breakage. Spartans have hips that split apart. Grunts break at the arm and shoulders, kig yar drones are fragile as hell, hips on the H3 jackals break, plus the thin weapons tend to warp hopelessly or snap.

The elites lacking finger joints, what happens is over time, the fingers will begin to split apart from the hand. You can hair dryer it to get it in sure, but it will eventually tear.

The feet, yeah, arbiter has a flat surface and will stand easy. The rest on the tripod foot will tip over constantly. Still better than the reach elite.

There it is. The ugly truth. If you know, you can at least look at what you buy closer, and deal with the issues.
>>
>>5245651
>>5245126
I dunno.
The guy's pretty specific about about how the toys are made and pointedly disarming claims of fragility, making him more believable than smomeone making general claims that seem to be untrue.

IT's your word against his.
Some of his sounds believable though, like putting the weapons on their hands.

Again, i didn't start buying the line until Reach and i really had no issues, so it makes me lend credence toward him.
.... but looking it up, i guess i did buy a single figure from Halo 3 with Dare.

Also, pointing out the pictures thing really does make you sound like you're full of shit, considering he was right that they have hinges.
He does sound more credible than you.

Also also, I don't remember many complaints about the Halo line until the Rookie came out on /toy/. Again, points toward them being pretty good.

Yes the Anniversary Elites you pictured don't have hinges, but earlier H3 Elites do have a hand joint which makes holding guns on a whim a snap

Those are straight rereleases/recolors of H3 figures. From a box set. The elite didnt get standard hinged hands until the reach line. A few h3 do have them, but as an exception, not the rule.

TBH, most the halo collectors dont bother to post at all due to this fuck suck.

This figure lacks a trigger hand
>idiot, just cut tue hand and hair dryer

This figure only has 1 weapon

This figure has poor articulation, 28 points that move less than 10 degrees

This sounds like backpedaling, but i guess that's true for both of you when you're trying to peg down the entire line based on a few figures.

>idiot, just cut tue hand and hair dryer
Cut the hand? Don't see that anywhere
The hair dryer trick is absolutely valid advice though.

>This figure only has 1 weapon

So I just got a used Halo CE Anniversary off ebay that supposedly was only posed once and is in perect condition, but his right foot is loose. Not to the point where it will slump down, but the tiniest ammount of pressure will cause the figure to fall forward. I had heard that the rachety joints were tough, so I doubt they all suffer from this issue.

So should I return it or is there something I can do to tighten it up?

any glossy acrylic will work, even colored ones.
you can use rubber cement, tissue paper, nail polish, string, and who knows what else people have been suggesting on /toy/ for almost a decade now when offering advice for fixing loose joints. They'll all work to varying degrees (enamel and rubber cement actually have lasted me the longest).

Also, is the joint that's loose just the swivel part or the actual ratcheting? because I've never had a problem with any ratcheting joints for any of my toys. IT's always the fucking swivel part.

Sounds like the actual joint is loose or was poorly put together, rather than worn out.

As i said, you'll want to jam something in there. Any glossy acrylic is very safe to use or you can just shove tissue in there. Anything will work,... that's small enough to fit. Even white glue will make it tight enough, but that'll wear out relatively quick.

>>5247456
It's basically anyone that is disagreed with, sorta like "samefag."
Not sure why anyone would think I'd hate McFarlane though, considering all the shit I've gotten for talking about how amazing his 90s and 00 figures were. Glorious golden age of toys, which the Halo figures are all but a reflection of. Yet, they're still some of the best toys still being made... inspite of how they've cut back on the articulation. >Except the use stands and sticky tack to get those poses.
What does it matter if a stand is used at all? Lots of figures can't be balanced because they're top heavy and not every figure comes with depleted uranium feet to retain a pose where they appear to be in motion.
The whole point to those pictures was just to prove they could do cool poses, not that they're well balanced (though some were).
Cool as fuck poses > mediocre poses needed to keep a figure balanced. And this applies to even god-tier articulated and poseable figures like Micromen, whose ball joints become loose as fuck and have trouble retaining poses even with stands.
Stands are included with most figures because they're needed, albiet in the most gaudy way possible.

the 3A ones are overpriced and have an odd track record. Apparently some of the problems from the godawful chief were fixed on the spartan that followed it, but I have my doubts, and the previous Carter had a pretty okay paintjob and could barely hold his rifle. All of the PAKs are stylized, but are the most poseable out of the group.. I just can't get over how off they all look. Granted, the new halo 2 one showed they were at least trying to make them more accurate, but it was still far from perfect. All of the McF figures are based on the digital renders, but they still manage to fuck them up in either mold quality or joint setup no matter what. And the NECA 1/4 Chief looks like it's probably the best overall chief toy, but it's just not a scale I can deal with.

tl;dr all current halo toys are mostly junk. I'd like to see SHFs, but I'm afraid they'd stylize it like the avenger's and stuff, instead of going for super accuracy like SW and most riders.

I actually recall having a similar issue where it doesn't even ratchet, while the other foot does. I changed the shit out of mine though so I don't really remember what's original or not anymore.

Here have some Halo 5 figure fuck ups. This is a deformity. No hair dryer will fix this.
>>
>>5255745
If it's the indent and it's shrinkage, you're correct, no hairdryer can fix that. Even if you managed to warp it outward and pump in something to bulge it, it's still a deformity that happened while it was curing, so there's no real way of fixing it.

I had the same issue on my Jun's thigh, I just swapped out the piece with an older one and painted it to match in the end.

I bought Halo 5 the other day. the campaign is seven hours long and disappointing. mp isn't much better.

honestly don't give two shits about Spartan Locke nor do I care why I should. either give me a new character and introduce him and his motivations in-game or just let me play as the chief again.

also the ending is dumb. the plot is dumb. Halo 4 is better and that's saying a lot.

>>5251132
figuarts halo figs would be great if they were accurate

but it's unlikely to ever happen.

To be fair, halo 4 was the best halo game right behind CE. But yeah this was a subpar release.

Nigga, are you serious? I'll agree with you on the campaign but the multiplayer's fun as shit with all the new movement abilities.

As for the toys, I'd probably be more annoyed with them if they were 20 bucks or so, but give that they're 13-15 bucks I feel like they're decent for what their price is. I've heard of all the QC issues, but luckily never been hit with any of the 30+figures I own from the line.

if I wanted to be jumping all over the place I'd be playing titanfall or tribes. the req system in itself is perpetuating cyber-jewery.

So does anyone have a way to give the halo 5 figures decent articulation? I got Kelly and she can barely move her legs. It's really disappointing how limited the range is.

Are the Halo 5 McFarlane's taller than the Halo 4 ones?
I saw Palmer listed as 5-6 inches while Chief, Locke, et al. were listed as 6 inches on the same site. Does the inch make a difference, do they scale with figuarts now or are they still tiny?

I've been buying a couple of HAlo 3 and Reach figures and only the Halo 3 figures are a bit smaller than the newest HAlo figures.
They make the newer figures seem poor, considering the hip articulation on previous figures was so great. Also, interchangable armor.

Also, since i only own midget-muscle-men from the Figuarts line, i really can't say whether they're the same scale or not.
Also also, they'll never be in scale, because Figuarts is a non-scale line and the Spartans stand about 5.5" tall, which means they're 1/15 scale (7' Spartan = 84 inches of armored super soldier. 84/15 = 5.6" toy).
>>
Bought a Halo 3 Elite. Not the sturdiest figure, but stands up just fine. Better than my Chief actually, cause of his loose foot.

So yeah grab a Halo 3 Elite if you need one of some kind. Hands are shit tho.

Does anyone have the new McFarlane Kelly? I have the anniversary Halo 2 Chief and wonder if Kelly and Fred would look good next to him and if they are decent quality for the price.

Shame about Halo 5 though. Story was shit and they didn't utilize Blue Team at all. Everyone just walked around and looked bored.

Anyways, I want to have Blue Team, but I don't want low quality shit. McFarlane isn't the best, I know, but it's inexpensive and there are more options.

I have kelly, and she looks alright (her shotgun looks awful). She would probably look fine just standing there. My main gripes with her is how dull the colors are, and how the helmet is inaccurate to the game and even the art on the box. Also, articulation sucks shit, and i tried to ask that one anon who kept bitching about how great these figures are when you mod them to show me how to improve hers, but apparently he's gone now so i guess he was full of shit or something. Also, don't expect her to hold any of her guns properly. Arms and hands are too restricted. Still, for 10 bucks, it's not the worse thing, though, i surprisingly got more articulation out of the jakks pacific samus figure.

Yet, I get ganged up on when I call his shit out, and then my posts get deleted.

Are they now? McFaganon said I was lying and couldnt operate a toy made for a 5 year old when I complained about the unjointed H3 elite hands.
>>
>>5270096
Thanks for the heads up. I found that was a problem with Anniversary Chief too. I can only have him holding the battle rifle in a relaxed stance. I probably would've been a lot better off with getting something else. I'm not posing very much, so they might as well be nicer looking statues instead, but I didn't wanna spend much.
>>
>>5270096
No one said that the newer figures have good poseability. In fact, just the opposite was said.
I don't think anyone's even talked about modifying the newer figures either.

Stop being such a butthurt person who has to lie because you're butthurt.

learn how to use the search function. And aren't you supposed to be the one defending these toys? What do I have to be butthurt about? That I bought a shitty toy? It's 10 bucks, dude. You can make that in a quarter of an hour at work.

>>5270296
Kelly can hold her guns in a relaxed state, and i was even able to get her to kind of cock her gun, but I had to warm up the joints for awhile to get to that. If you just want them for a cheap display piece, you probably won't be disappointed.

Here is a pic of her, just so you can have a reference on how she handles dynamic/action poses.

I will tell you what is fucked up with the figures and how to deal with it, if possible. Unless you chop the figures up and run a wire to use as a bendy joint, ain't much that can be done. Like pretty much every mcfarlane ever made, a glorified statue with 30 joints that move 5 degrees.
>>
>>5270364
>It's 10 bucks, dude. You can make that in a quarter of an hour at work
here's your reply
>>
>>5270364
Thanks for proving I'm right that everyone is pretty disappointed with the articulation on the newer figures. I guess i did miss the people speculating on mods to improve it, but no one said it can be improved with a mod.
Still, point is you're lying and making up strawmen over your butthurt.

Also, do those places you linked to show any improvements in the range of motion? if so....
>>
>>5270392
You think i could chop up some parts and replace them with those hobby base/revoltech joints? I just wanted to put big space marine dudes into compromising positions, but that was apparently asking too much. Though, i could have sworn i had a radical spawn figure as a kid that had wicked articulation. Though, i was pretty young so it might have been my imagination. [nospoilers]Spawn will never come back ;_;[toyspoiler]

>>5270414
Go ask your neighbors if you can mow their lawn. In 15 minutes, you can make 10 bucks. It's not hard at all, and you can make quick pocket change. Alternatively, get a job like the rest of us.

>>5270432
The first link i sent. Dude talks about how he has been modding figures for years and how great the halo 5 figures are after modding them

>Kelly, Locke, Tanaka, Fred all have +90 degree elbow articulation (Though Fred was badass out of the box, didn't have to mod much)
>Kelly & Tanaka for some reason have "chest shoulder" molding that prevents them from sticking their arms straight forwards to hold say, a pistol, with two hands without looking like a monkey. Fixed that too. (This problem was apparent on the Orange Scout figure from Halo 4 too, idk why...)
>Tanaka's knees can now bend 90 degrees
>Locke/Tanaka improved hipped articulation

I just want to know how to make it a better figure. I don't know what it is about people, but they just seem to refuse showing pictures on how the articulation mods are done, or how much they improve. All they do is talk about how great they are after modding them. Every picture i've seen of the halo 5 figures is either them standing in a relaxed pose, or of a defect.

If i want a cheap halo figure with good articulation, which one should I get? Should I just go scouting for the Reach line or something? I think thats the only one that i've heard good things about.
>>
>>5270246
that's because he wasnt full of shit.
you are.
which is why you get ganged up on and your posts deleted.
i'm surprised how dumb you are.

anon was just saying the guy left so he wont get to now hear how he modded his.

but he could just do it himself, as that other guy had to have done.

Being a lying asshole isn't going to get you much help.
No one's taken pictures because you sound like a troll in the first place. Nevermind the fact people are lazy about taking pictures in the first place.
Now, talking about taking pictures of HOW to mod a figure to increase articulation? That's harder, and for many of us, it's just common sense. You cut away at the plastic that gets in the way of the joints. So it'd be like someone taking pictures of how to dig a hole. fuck that.

Just get a sharp knife and start whittling away.
