Action-Masters are Hasbro's answer to kids who didn't care to turn a robot into a vehicle. (As if that's even possible.)

They is my favorite of the repaint.
>>
>>4798155
Sadly, he has no elbows. (Probably for stability in combined mode, since he's the only one.)
>>
>>4798148
It was a product of the GI Joe bandwagon. Maybe they wouldn't have been so bad if they were actually decent action figures.
>>
>>4798172
Do you have aspurgers?
Serious question.
>>
>>4798174
Why not do something like sell small human dudes that can ride inside your robutts then?
>>
>>4798148
We only needed them because at the time their articulation was godly compared to main line stuff.
The only real modern equivalent was the Revos a few years back.

Sorry about this sideways photo, heres a closer look at it.
>>
>>4798218
Should I get Blackjack? I keep reading about how Menasor's monoboob looks better. I already know about the mod to make the combiner nipples more secure so that isn't an issue.
>>
>>4798224
Looks nice, but how stable are the shoulders in that configuration?
>>
>>4798227
In this fanmode I made I'd say that Blackjack really does seem to fill out his chest a little bit more and make it more proportional to his body. If you're going to display him like this then deffinitly yes.

Not to mention he is a REALLY good figure. Great transformation, slick alt mode and very characterful robot mode.
>>
>>4798230
On my mold they hold quite securely until you try and rotate a limb forward and then it makes that whole hinge move. I would say it's more than sturdy enough to hold mostly any pose you try with his arms.
>>
>>4798242
If it works well enough I might just do that then instead of getting the PE upgrade.
>>
So... is Warrior class just what they're calling Deluxe class now, or what?
>>
>>4798252
Rid deluxes, yes.
They're simpler and smaller than actual deluxes though.
>>
>>4798252
It's just the deluxe for RiD2015. Probably something to do with market research or some bullshit with kids.
>>
>>4798255
Still cost the same though, which is why i'm completely skipping over that new shitty series. Combiner Wars will be the only transformers I'm spending any money on this year.
>>
>>4798259
Grimlock isn't that bad actually... besides from his exploding elbows, but it's a fixable fault. It'll probably get better in later waves. Drift and Sideswipe look pretty cool from what's been shown.
>>
>>4798259
Some of the one-steps are pretty cool.
>>
>>4798237
As much as I think Blackjack is cool, I doubt I'll bother to hunt him down to go with my Stunticons. Mainly because Hasbro missed an incredibly simple opportunity to take his little axe and turn it into a hilt for Menasor's sword. As is, the sword is pretty cool on it's own. But it would have gotten that little extra bit of a purple handle/hilt to make the whole weapon even bigger, it would have been amazing.
>>
>>4798272
They are so much fun to mess around with. I can't wait to get Thunderhoof. Apparently Springload is gonna get a One-Step as well
>>
Well I finally got Air Raid yesterday, so happy about my completed Superion but they will go to my shelf soon since my MP Star Saber will arrive in less than a week and take the space where they are now.

The transformation back to "vehicle" for the ones like Fixit and Underbite is so fast it's nice. It really catches that "transform and rollout" vibe.

They actually aren't smaller. The style and proportions might make them look a bit squat, but Grimlock is taller than say... Rattrap and only a head shorter than Dragstrip.

I actually just stuck it together with some poster mounting putty so it looks good from only one side. I'm gonna keep it like this now though it looks way better and it holds very securely. It shouldn't have any effect on the silver paint of the sword either, at least I hope so.
>>
>>4798174
Compared to the later day non-transforming transformers we got, Action Masters were pure gold......

That said, the whole novelty of them was that they had a TON of S1-2 characters who, at the time, had NOT seen ANY re-issue or new version of them made.

Soundwave, Blaster, Wheeljack, Shockwave, Bombshell, Megatron, Devestator, Prowl, Snarl, Inferno, Sideswipe all had new figures alongside Optimus, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Starscream, and Jazz
>>
>>4798326
That actually gives me an idea to take a 5mm port from a scrapper and putty that fucker on.
>>
>>4798333

Holy shit, the RID cartoon just keeps getting better. Ped is voiced by fucking Mandark. It's as awesomely hilarious as it sounds, and it's relevant to the episodes plot.

Jazz is pretty sweet too. Not quite as jive turkey as G1, but Arif S Kinchen (voice of Pierce in Saints Row- literally identical tone/pitch) gives him a modern twist on the character. I like it.

Scout class for the little guys who tend to be scouts, Leader class for bigger guys who tend to be leaders, Voyager class for dudes who, I dunno, explore or some shit? But Deluxe? That sounds more like I'm buying a burger than a transforming robot.

Gen. Rattrap wouldn't work as Razorbeast. The gimmick in BW was the same but when you want to do a real transformationit will have to be a lot different.

I would love a Generations Razorbeast though, seeing as it was one of my first Transformers. tfw all the Gen1 babbies get sweet new iterations of their first toys and I don't get anything.

How does this affect the figure aesthetically? You can't even tell. How would you propose hiding his hands in altmode then?

But it's animation accurate.

I'll give you that one. But honestly, when would you even be displaying him like that? Let alone be THAT close to the tiny figure to even notice small pain imperfections?
>>
>>4798604
Different character was Mandark. Jazz is still... urban.
>>
>>4798604
The decepticon of the day is Mandark, Jazz was pretty sweet, and his characterization makes me want to own his mold.

But fucking Hasbro, we get it, fiction only exists to sell toys, so why don't you make toys for the fiction to sell? Where are my Warrior Terrashock, Thunderhoof, Bisk, Underbite, Springload, Mandark, or Quillfire?

I'm not even asking for voyagers with articulation, I've given up that battle, but atleast say you're doing some more decepticons, I want to give you money for these things!

(but for real Mandark and Terrashock better be voyager sized, or I'm not buying them)
>>
>>4798639
Wish Granted:
>Cyberverse: Chopshop, 5 combine to warrior Chopshop, Minitron
>Warrior: Bisk, Hammerstrike, Thunderhoof, Springload, Clampdown, Quillfire
>Voyager: Terrashock, Ped, Filch

The molds will still suck.
>>
>>4798634
>How does this affect the figure aesthetically? You can't even tell. How would you propose hiding his hands in altmode then?
Not that anon, but as I said yesterday, it's a masterpiece figure the size of a voyager, it can't be that hard to add a panel that folds round to cover that hollow section.
>>
>>4798639
The new Hasbro design team is the opposite of the old one's approach. The old one focussed on making the mainline based on media first, and then doing a classics series as a secondary line. this team seems to be focussing on the Classics(or generations/Combiner wars) line first, then the animated show line second.

Not surprising, this is the same head designer that turned GI Joe from a line focussed on new gimmicks to one based off classic 80's series.
>>
>>4798590
What are you doing here?
>>
>>4798647
Oh wait, I just derped hard. I thought he was talking about the bigger figure, not the Voyager sized one.

>>
>>4798663

>>
>>4798666
Oh... so why did they put those people in charge of Transformers?
>>
>>4798269
Okay, everyone repeats this but nobody ever anchors it in anything, and I'm really starting to get the impression that it's just memetic repetition from isolated famous cases. I'd really like someone to explain what exactly the problem is, how common, and what this fix is, too.
>>
>>4798668

>>
>>4798589

What gets me is the hands. Same with Magnus. On toys this size, why the fuck are the hands so limited in articulation? Bloody Soundwave and the seeker mold have way more.
>>
>>4798700
I like the designs. So?
>>
>>4798192
It's actually based on RID Rollbar.
>>
>>4798671
The problem is that the ratchets in Grimlock's elbows are held in place/function with tiny little grey plastic pieces, but because of the partially exposed joint and lip of green forearm plastic that holds it in place, all the stress of the joint is put on that part of the arm, which quickly stresses and bends out, making the ratchet piece literally shoot out with another flex. Mine got massive stress marks right out of the packaging, before I could even transform it. The rest of the mold is decent, but the elbows are a dealbreaker. Wait for a repaint/rerelease/whatever to get one that doesn't break as soon as you touch it.
>>
>>4798851
Thank you for explaining! Is the problem fixable, and is it totally prevalent, or a degree of luck of the draw with tolerances?

They only did it so people would buy enough figures to make a full combiner, regardless of if they actually want the characters. That way they can half ass everything but people will still buy a shitload more in hopes of getting one half decent robot.
>>
>>4799002

At least the figs are cheap, well articulated, widely available for the most part, G1 faithful, true Scramble City style, huge repaint potiental, and combine with only the barest of partsforming- the hand/foot piece.

The limbs stand well enough on their own without the gimmick, and use their blocky budget as an aesthetic for nostalgia.

On Bumblebee the hollow arms were at least a valid criticism but usually not enough to deter any non autists from buying him because people can deal with something not being absolutely perfect and if I have to explain why it's dumb to get mad about something so small not being 100% perfect with paint apps there's no helping you.
>>
>>4799494
wow classics prime looks so much better

CW Optimus' height is perfect though
>>
>>4799494
You can't deny though, compared to figures from 2009/10 that the 2013/early 2014 generations/AoE figures were smaller compared to previous figures. They have started to go back up in size though which is a good thing.

Am I the only not-blind one who sees that the CW is bigger?

I mean even accounting for angle they seem to be roughly the same height, and CW is bulkier. So it's bigger.

Obviously his post was sarcasm, but there are people out there who genuinely have no sense of spatial awareness and think every new thing is smaller than the last.

Masterpiece.

Bumblebee's Beetle mode is far smaller than it should be, Wheeljacks vehicle mode is a bit larger than it should be. I don't mind, just saying that Masterpiece doesn't follow perfect scale.

Realisitically no. Bumblebee was a penny racer, not a Volkswagen.

That said, Classics/RTS Bumblebee is bigger and better than Masterpiece.

Because Transformers NEVER adheard to ANY scale. Go buy scaled cars and jets bitch.

Couldn't care less about the minidood, but the totally bare forearms on a voyager-sized figure sold as a Masterpiece, at premium prices, is pretty fucking rediculous.

>>

The main issues with that is, in the case of the planes, they'd be way out of scale in robot mode.

Masterpiece Broadside never.

We also can't forget that MP Bee also comes with Spike, not that anyone cares about spike, but you are getting two similarly sized figures for $50. So that's about a $30 Deluxe and a $20 Scout, which is pretty much what the normal import price for Takara's Generations figures.

Do we really need to have this discussion again?

Not that anon, but it does look cooler in my opinion. MP looks like G1, but I prefer the beefier classics and Bii design.

As a carfag, this irks me. I don't expect them to be PERFECT scale, because then Bumblebee would be pretty big. Actually what irks me more are all the neckbeards doing reviews saying "The Beetle is a very small car, so this is in scale!", when the fact is that all of the Autobots are very small cars. I know they're going after show scale, but I would have preferred Bee a bit larger. Eh, it's not a big issue, just a personal preference.

The only Bee I own is AoE Deluxe new Bee, and I'm totally fine with it. I'm not attached to G1 bee, so as nice as Classics Bee looks, I don't need it, and Prime Bumblebee never got a particularly good figure, so movie Bee is close enough for me.
>>
>>4799494
CW is bigger, but Classics Prime is much, MUCH sturdier overall. He's made from a different kind of plastic that's much more resilient and smooth to the touch. Also his engineering is slightly more intricate.

Say what you will about CW Optimus being bigger, there's still very evidently a drop in overall quality.
