The newer releases are using a new upgraded body that has better articulation than MMS (pretty much the same + one more point in the torso)

Why is the Assault Lily line so expensive?
>>
>>5364219
If you break the contents of one set to the individual costs

Piconeemo body- 1700 yen
Regular clothes- 3500 yen
Boots- 1500 (yes those things cost this much)
Weapons- Around 2000 yen at events

That's already 8700 yen and isn't counting the unique heads (a 1/12 garage kit head can set you back 1000-3000 and requires assembly and painting) and battle clothes (not sold separately AFAIK but most clothes like that cost around 2000).

So yeah you're actually getting a pretty damn lot for around 9000 yen.

If you're talking about places charging more than that, well, they're limited runs due to being a niche product and thus you get scalpers.

The new Piconeemo bodies, for reference. They're already being used in new stuff (the battle dress line of Custom Lily stuff, Nipako, the two latest entries in the Assault Lily line) but there's still no date on an individual release.

I've just picked up one of these guys. It wasn't much of a jump from shinkis and I have some clothes already.

I'm still contemplating getting one of the new more expensive Assault Lilys but we'll see. It sucks the older models are impossible to get. I'm sad I missed >>5364202

Is there a better place to get clothes? Amiami and HLJ never have much in stock.
>>
>>5364313
what's the headswap potential with figmas?
>>
>>5364313
Nipako's still in stock on Amazon and such, the 9000+ price tag is retail.

They're actually doing updated versions of the very first two Assaults with the new body sometime next year so you might want to keep an eye out for that; Pre-orders tend to be all snapped up in 1-2 days with the more popular entries.

>>5364335
They actually fit perfectly, I have Piconeemo heads on Figma bodies and Figma heads on Piconeemo bodies. You have to trim the Figma hand pegs if you want to use them on one of the new bodies though (they fit on the old bodies fine)
>>
>>5364378

I'll wait and keep an eye out for those, thanks.

I'm hoping this line will grab me. I'm already a figma and doll collector. I don't have much space meaning dolls are a problem and the figma prices are getting silly. Assault Lily seems like a logical jump.
>>
>>5364274
They sell them individually, but only on Azone's exclusive store and at events like AK-Garden and such as they always have. The only blank body to get a standard release was the first run of the old Picco Neemo body before Assault Lily became a thing.

>>

No, the new body hasn't been released individually yet at all. The event stuff is just alternate versions (mostly different bust sizes, namely L and LL) of the old body.
>>
>>5364313

There's a bustling community of people making and selling 1/12 stuff in Japan but they're still mostly event-centric and have little online presence. You can find their stuff at events like Wonder Festival and AK Garden.
>>
>>5364378
Thanks! I just might pick one up then. Not going to trim the figma hands so I'll have to just settle for the hands it comes with
>>
>>5364474

I need to go to AK Garden some day.
>>
>>5364274
>They're already being used in new stuff
Just a heads-up, Miss Monochrome which was released after Nipako does NOT use the old body.
>>
>>5364490
Does not use the NEW body, it uses the old body, wow I'm daft.

>>5364487
It's a very small event so I wouldn't recommend arranging a trip to Japan just for it (though they're expanding, it was one floor before but will be two from the next one on), but it seems like the Taito-kan Tokyo venue is going to stick so it will be easier to visit head there if you're here at the same time.
>>
>>5364468
Sorry, that's what I thought you were talking about. Yeah the ones with the figma-like joints aren't out yet.
>>
>>5364498

I'm aware, I've been wanting to go for a year or two, its just at a bad time for me to take trips so I keep missing it.

It seems like 1/12 dolls are getting more popular over there. Last Wonfes I did in 2013 there wasn't much, but there seems to be more recently, based on photos at least.

They're really pushing picco neemo, little armory, FAGs etc.

Yeah that's actually made for that exact doll body to wear. Pure Neemo S body. It can be confusing since Pure Neemo and Picco Neemo look and sound very similar, but Pure Neemo are the larger 1/6 dolls and Picco Neemo are the tiny 1/12 ones that are similarly sized to Figma and Shinki. Pic related, your girl is going to have the body on the far right. Anything labeled as Pure Neemo S should fit just fine!
>>
>>5364274
Do the new bodies have any differences proportion-wise compared to the old bodies, or are they just more articulated?

The old bodies, I presume? Fuyou there uses the new body which fixes the wrists but adds the new problem of them having a tendency to drop out on their own.

>>

Haven't had that problem with the new bodies, sounds more like the old ones with the pegs snapping off all the time.
>>
>>5368307
Yeah, old bodies. I can't wait for the new ones to be released on their own. If it's not too much trouble, could you explain how you removed the broken joint pieces? I have replacement Picco Neemo hands (I should probably get some Figma ones though), but one of the bodies has both wrists broken and the hands won't go back in. The other body has one broken wrist, but at least that hand stays in somewhat.

Wait, can you order from Azone's store from America, or do you need a proxy? Last time I tried creating an account, it kept asking me for all sorts of japanese addresses, like prefecture and zip codes with not five digits.

>>5372214
Don't they call themselves Azonet International for a reason? Either way Amiami carries the exact same stock, sometimes for cheaper.

I may be retarded, but it won't let me check out as a guest and it needs prefecture and Japanese zip to create an account. But I admit I didn't try putting in fake information and seeing if I could order internationally from that.

I couldn't find the Lily Book on amiami, but Amazon.jp had it for the same price so I ended up just buying it there. Maybe I'll scan it if anyone wants and if the thread is still up in a week. It'll give me a good excuse to work on my Japanese faster, too.

Azone's stuff always come in VERY limited runs so if you're late to something you usually just have to give up. Amazon Japan (with some service that reships) and Amiami are usually the best places to look stock-wise.

It snowed last night, so I'm working on some winter gear so my Vell can go out and play in the morning. Anyone else try to make clothes for theirs yet?
>>
>>5378223
Yeah, I've made a few simple things. It's tough to get hems right - Not too bulky or too small to work with - but it's pretty much like regular sewing aside from that. Actually can be a bit easier since patterns are much easier to make and cut out.
>>
>>5379044

Where do you get your fabric from? Or what kind would you use to get the scale right? I've gone though a few fabric shops and not had much look finding anything.
>>
>>5379412
Joann's is really the only fabric store around me. Anything with a high thread count is pretty good. Linen is usually out, but some of the higher quality cotton fabrics work. Fleece is actually surprisingly good if a bit on the bulky side. Spandex is actually my favorite material to work with at this scale, as the slight stretching means that you rarely, if ever, have to put in velcro. Though it's a bit sheer, so it doesn't work for everything.
>>
>>5379412
>Or what kind would you use to get the scale right?

The usual answer is: "Visit a shop and handle the actual product." It's easy enough to tell what works and does not in person.
>>
>>5379702
Seconding this. The actual feel of it is a major thing. One of the tricks I read in an older doll dressing book was that if you drape the fabric over your finger and let like 8 inches of it fall over the side, if it hangs more or less straight down its good. If it sticks out too much, it will look thick and bunchy on your doll. Usually natural fibers will do this best and be the best when it comes to holding their shape after ironing. Some blends work, mostly knits, but test them first. If you're stuck with just Joanns nearby I can tell you they do have a decent cotton blend knit thats very thin but opaque and works good for tshirts, sweaters, socks, and undies for this scale. Don't be afraid to look in the pricier sections at finer cottons and silks too, because even an eighth of a yard is enough for a nice outfit most of the time.

Locksies! They're ugly as sin and have the sales to prove it. You can find them in TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Ross, Tuesday Morning, and wherever else dead toys go for not even $5. Azone's own shoes weren't really my taste (kinda office-y looking?), but these things have cute shoes. There's also a really good variety on the type of shoes you can get. Anything from neon heels to black combat boots.

>>
>>5382628
Does she come with alternate hair pieces like the earlier Custom Lilies did?
>>

Yup. Three pony tail choices and a back hair piece so you can give her a side pony or a back pony. No bangs, though. I got the black since I already have Aoi, but now I'm thinking I should have got the blue so she'd look like Aoi's little sister.
>>
>>5381376
The only ones I'm seeing that would even come close on there are the 11cm ones, and those are gonna look like clown shoes on a Picco S. I already tried shoes for a doll that has the exact same foot size as the 11cm and they definitely don't fit.

How different are the new bodies? Can I make decent looking Assault Lily Megucas now?

It would be a mixed blessing. Azone for some reason believes that a girl with her hair down must have it always fixed into an action or blowing in the wind position. Pretty much the reason I got Fuyo instead of Hikaru

Stores that carry craft stuff can have some pretty cool shit you can use with scale stuff sometimes. Got this key in a set of eight tiny metal... things? Meant for decorating stuff or whatever, for like a buck.
>>
>>5394477
Metal/jewelry findings is the word you're looking for. Its also useful to search that term on some bulk or craft sites, as it will turn up lots of tiny miniatures meant for charm bracelets or whatever that can be painted and made into really nice props. I've found tiny detailed cameras, phones, glasses, and similar things that way.
>>
I'm a Shinki masutah who's been curious about the lines we keep poaching clothes and props from...what is the general "deal" (lore, canon, whatever) for these lines and do you have any recommendations for a first purchase and where to get them? The pics of the apparently new bodies above make them look nearly Shinki-level flexible, so I'm thinking of branching out (since the new Shinkis look like they will be model kits far beyond the capabilities of my bacon fingers).
>>
>>5396501
For the story, it's girls with weapons fighting. There's a war in the background and all the girls are students of an academy training them to fight, or something like that. Think something like Strike Witches or Valkyrie Drive. The site has a story and there's a yuri novel. But all are in Japanese and I'm nowhere good enough yet to give a good translation for either. http://assaultlily.com/story/1.php

First purchase would definitely have to be one of the new bodies, so either Fuyoh, Hikaru, or the new Custom (number 12). I'd recommend Fuyoh since Hikaru has long hair and Azone has this thing where long hair is always frozen in a 'blowing in the wind' look. And the Custom Lilies don't come with weapons, so definitely Fuyoh. If it weren't so difficult to find older releases, I'd say wait until the next release, but you might regret not getting Fuyoh.
>>
>>5396501

The new bodies have articulation almost identical to MMS with the exception of the torso having MORE points of articulation.

It's above Shinki level.

Oh you can get a piece with her hair down.

That's what the type A and so on indicate, they have multiple sets with different faces and hair parts. They're all interchangeable so if you really want to customize your stuff you need to buy a ton of them.

But from Fuyou and Hikaru on they've been experimenting in releasing stuff in multiple batches so even if stock runs out it comes back in pretty fast (which is why you can still get them and the previous Custom).

I just got my Type A. I love her. The posability is amazing, she can crunch right up into the fetal position. My one complaint is the ankle joints are loose so its a fiddly to get her to stand up unaided, and if you manage it she's not stable. Is that a common thing?

I'm going to get Fuyoh, Now I'm addicted, can anyone explain what the difference is between the Type A/B/C? It seems to just be different characters.

I'll take some pictures this weekend when I have better lighting.

>Is that a common thing?

My Assault Lily stands without any problems, but I think I remember that being a major issue with the first gen.
>>

>Is that a common thing?
No, you just got unlucky.

>>5403344
>I remember that being a major issue with the first gen.
I have like a dozen first gen Piconeemo bodies and have never had that problem.

Ah well, better luck with the next one I hope. I can get her standing, but its tricky and as soon as I touch her I have to try at it all over again.

Maybe I've spent too much time with my shinkis and fags recently and not enough with my figma and dolls, but the single point of articulation in the neck is limiting. It'd be nice if there was a hinge in the collar.

Minor things, I really do like her.

Even if you buy the exact same thing (I got all of the first three Customs in two colours each) you never get two that'll be exactly the same, even with the exact same parts some will be ridiculously loose and some will be ridiculously tight.

Your case sounds like you might be able to fix it by topcoating the offending bits though, you might want to try that.

Hlj doesn't do preorders for assault lily?
>>

They're a very odd site. They have tons of resin kits and model kits I can't find anywhere else, but their stock of mainstream stuff is real hit and miss.

Try HobbySearch, they still have both in stock for 500 less than amiami

The worst part is that I'm seriously considering buying it anyway when my tax refund arrives.

Did you guys see this? I hope this means future ex-cute re-releases will be using these bodies. What's everyone else hoping will be next in the ex-cute line to become picco-fied? I'd lose my shit if they redid the Antique Cherry Chiika or the Taisho Romantic Cafe.

I hope some Yuuta and Aoto get picco'd

But I really hope they've made a lil fairy version of this body more.

Like a more posable Picco D body? That'd be great, actually. I'm really hoping there are plans to make the regular 1/6 bodies like the Picco S, though.
I love Yuuta, he'd be even cuter in a tinier size!
>>5408453
Looking nice so far, Anon. Are you just doing a recolor or some more mods?
>>
>>5408848
Ohh I never even thought about transferring all that posability to the 1/6 bodies. That would be awesome too!
>>
>>5408848
That's all the modding, painting it black and that'll be it.
>>
>>5408881
Good luck!
>>5408877
Really? That's all I think about. If they just made the bigger bodies more posable, that'd be great. Otherwise it's either modding or using the Obitsu bodies. I'm really surprised they chose a smaller size to work on first but maybe it makes more sense to start small and work your way up. Joint engineering isn't easy, after all.

Personally, I'd love a lot of their Pureneemo stuff scaled down. There are a few things I'd like but I don't collect 1/6 and it would break the bank to start getting dolls and clothes in that scale along with keeping my 1/12s clothed.

Even if they just released a head and outfit pack and you needed to buy the blank body separately, I'd be a fan.

I'd be in on something like this too! Works out for making your own characters.

Waiting for Hikaru to come in, in the meantime, contributing an older picture.

Anyone own her already? I have Fuyoh and just spotted a super cheap Hikaru on eBay, but I'm not sure if I like her flowing in the wind hairstyle. How does it come across when she's sitting in a chair, for example?

I'm going to guess bar stools will be your best bet for back heavy characters. Still, her accessories look like they'd be lovely.
>>
>>5408958

1/12 seems to be getting even more popular, same with picco neemo and assault lilly, so there's a good chance of this.
>>
>>5409064
Azone is also teaming up with Tomytec and Kotobukiya now so yeah, definitely getting more stuff.
>>
>>5409248
Think we'll get Little Armory dolls, or will they stick to Figma for the mascot girls?
>>
Ok so could someone experienced with Pureneemo help me for a second? I've been putting off buying any of the blank bodies because I know theres like, the basic and the Full Flection or whatever, but all the ones I see for sale just say "flection" and I want to know I'm getting the more poseable body. I know there's probably something really obvious I'm missing so please help?

Oh, they look much nicer without the balljoints, Anon. They are rather big and stand out too much. Well done!
Anybody been following what Azone's been tweeting from Doll Show? Some pretty great 1/6 stuff. I know this is technically the 1/12th stuff thread, but Azone is Azone, right? There are some cute fireworks yukata and dresses for the D bodies, though and some new Assault Lilys, it looks like.
I'm personally going nuts for the Green Gables dolls and the new Kikipops.
