Hasbro just stocked wave 1 of the Black Series Force FX lightsabers, including Luke's which had previously sold out. They've also got a 20% off coupon and a 10% off coupon if you sign up for emails and apparently they stack. My total was like a hundred and fifteen bucks after tax with free shipping.
Force FX sabers were getting harder to find for awhile so I just wanted to give you fags a heads up.

From what I've gathered:

>slightly better blade ignition effect
>higher quality sound
>accelerometer for more accurate swinging sound effects
But there are some drawbacks:

>QC appears questionable, seen reports of scratched hilts out of the box
>other minor quibbles like slightly cheaper battery unit
All in all they seem pretty great, especially since the old models are stupid expensive secondhand. Master Replicas Luke sabers go for 1000s of dollars these days.

Well these are the highest quality official models you can get. I don't know much about the custom saber scene. I looked into Saberforge once and noped out of there when I saw it was gonna be 400 dollars for light and sound. But I don't really know about alternatives.

Haha, but seriously, thanks for the heads up! I'd been eyeing Luke's saber to pick up as a gift, and I almost pulled the trigger last night using just the 20% off. Kylo's saber I had almost bought during Target's 25% off sale, but I went with the Black Series TIE instead. Was patting myself on the back for resisting picking up the saber then ("Oh, I probably wouldn't even play around with it much!"), and then you had to come along, haha.
Just a heads up, it's not actually 30% off. What HTS does is they apply the 20% off coupon first, and then the 10% gets applied on the new discounted total. Doesn't matter what order you apply the coupons, it always comes out the same.

It's a pretty high-end collectible though so you shouldn't feel bad about trying to get as pristine a model as possible. Hasbro's QC has been spotty lately and it's the job of the customer to make them aware of it. There have been numerous other reports as well. Mine for instance didn't have any blade defects but did have a noticeable scratch on the hilt. Don't be a jerk but impress upon customer service that you were very disappointed such an expensive item was damaged out of the box and Hasbro needs to correct this in future releases.
Might also want to build or invest in a vertical stand of some kind. I've heard displaying fixed blade sabers horizontally will cause gravity to warp the blade connection sooner rather than later. Hopefully somebody does a removable blade conversion kit soon.

Anyone have any experience of them doing something dumb like that? Also This morning I noticed that the piece in question has lodged itself in such a way it no longer rattles. You can still see it but that's not really a big deal. The rattling was what drove me nuts. Should I even bother sending it back if the it no longer rattles or should I get a replacement?

I've got an old master replicas one and i thought the blade was fixed, i havent been able to get it out. Blade is pretty weak too, gets dented pretty easily so can't really fight with it.
Roommate made his own and mine is almost finished. Cheaper and better for fighting, also cool to have a personal saber.

The saber is fucking heavy, like 3 of Luke's. If you remove that factor though, I think it's doable. You just have to hold it right in the middle. I'm pretty excited to see how Kylo handles it.

I went through the same struggle before deciding to pull the trigger, haha. I think if you're interested, just go ahead and pick it up. If you don't like it or have second-thoughts about spending the cash/credit, you can always just return it (Target has free returns on online orders too).
