So true to being Mattel, they released the first batch of their halo line without making a single mention about the line ever since they announced it back in Toy Fair. So far looks like the Elite and Ghost is the only thing from the 6 inch Halo 'Collector' Series, while the rest of the releases were the six or so 12 inch figures and the 12 inch scaled Warthog and Chief. Also the Boomco Brute Spiker appears to have been released. Really hard finding any sort of reviews on these, anyone else seen these or have them yet?
>>
>>5728328
I actually saw some at work today, the figure leaves much to be desired.

It's kinda big but im chocking it up to it being an elite

The paint is pretty lackluster with almost none aside from the skintone and the molded plastic coloring for the armor

Articulation looked pretty limited on the box but could do basic elite poses

I'd just wait for the spartans

just discovered a review on halo toy news. http://www.halotoynews.com/2016/06/10/mattel-halo-ghost-vehicle-elite-officer-review-photos/

One of the biggest cons to me is that apparently the elite is measured to exactly, so when Mattel says a six inch figure line, they don't mean it is six inch scaled. Would also explain why the carbine seems a little too large for him if the weapons were made primarily to scale with the spartans instead of the micro sized elites. However the ghost seems a little undersized for the elite, which will look all the more awkward when the spartans are put in it.

Odd that they release only this for the six inch line so far. Considering mattel completely forgetting how to advertise release dates, who knows when the rest of the line is due to come out. Couldd be a good chance the next six inch figure to release will be the SDCC exclusive helioskrill spartan they announced a few days ago.
>>
>>5728415
here is the Helioskrill exclusive. It will cost $25, for something that is essentially the most minimal repaint you could get from the retail version shown at Toy Fair. Just blue painted visor and detailings with a pistol and special skin variant of the assault rifle.
>>
>>5728415
Fucking hell. I'm not looking forward to having Linda tower over the McFarlane Blue Team.
>>
>>5728973

They're two completely different scales, even if the Mattel one isn't true "6 inch scale."

I mean, what did you expect? Nothing scales with those tiny McFarlane figures.

Also, it looks like the move from McFarlane to Mattel was a lateral one. Most people seemed excited that these would be so much better than the McFarlanes. Those looked cool, and had nice detailing and decent paint, just lacking articulation and half the figures couldn't hold their weapons. These look pretty bland, but the articulation looks a little better.

>tfw Megabloks minifigures are still the best Halo figures out there.
>>
>>5728976
I'm just upset we didn't get a McFarlane Linda and Vale, is all. That's the one thing they left unfinished and they could've done it. I'm actually appreciative that Mattel got the license as they'll hopefully be cheap enough to produce that they can make lines truly representative of how many designs and colours the games have, much like the old Halo 3 and Reach days of McFarlane.

As someone who really just wanted Blue Team out of a Halo 5 line because muh novels, I'm gonna either try to customise Mattel Linda down to McFarlane size or hope desperately for a higher-end company like Figuarts to save us all even if it means exclusive releases.
>>
>>5728984
*higher-end company like Bandai
or
*higher-end line like Figuarts

Take your pick, I totally screwed that up.
>>

>One of the biggest cons to me is that apparently the elite is measured to exactly, so when Mattel says a six inch figure line, they don't mean it is six inch scaled

Mattel has pulled this crap for almost 20 years now.

Does this count? Because it's pretty ballin'.

>Unlike the McFarlane Toys Elites that were more like semi-poseable statues, this Mattel Elite Officer figure actually feels like a toy you can actually play with.
I love this quote.
Despite that it, he doesn't post anything that actually outdoes McFarlane's figures.

Just bland straight up and down poses, with maybe an arm going over their head. Nothing dynamic like this.

The thing has been surprisingly stable compared to the Androids I used before. It's a shame current Windows phones probably aren't the same.

I actually brought it up because IE means Microsoft, appropriate for Halo. I don't use a smartphone anyway so I had no idea about whatever you thought I was implying.

yeah, that kinda goes without saying that at six inches it was inevitable.

>>5728984
>I'm just upset we didn't get a McFarlane Linda and Vale, is all
well on one hand if the line does well it might mean you will get the complete blue team in 6 inch form at least.
> I'm actually appreciative that Mattel got the license as they'll hopefully be cheap enough to produce that they can make lines truly representative of how many designs and colours the games have
On the other hand, they are charging five more dollors for a figure that does not seem to be worth five more dollars. No matter how cheap the line is for them, they can't make money if their audience does not feel they are worth it. I have a strong feeling that at the very least after this first wave, we may not see anymore Elites unless they suddenly decide to make a bigger mold.

And that's when they make a bigger elite mold that we find out it is in the form of BAF. Good lord, with the right choices for a build a figure, they could potentially sell entire waves somewhat decently. BAF Hunters, flood pure forms, even gravemind himself, mattel would be nearly unstoppable. Considering this is Mattel I am shocked at the lack of a BAF mention so far.

Been a bit hard to find much information on the Brute Spiker which seems to be the best of this recent batch of Mattel Halo stuff. It is currently out of stock on amazon at the moment after having like ten in stock last night and this apparantly has been a common pattern for the past few days according to the comments I seen so far, so it is definitely selling fast.

anyone confused by the thing having three blades in the picture, that is because the blade on the gun is cardboard. The actual blades aare plastic, which was expected from the one shown at toy fair, sadly can't go around bashing people with them.

a few folk on reddit appear to have nabbed it but none of them have yet to post any pictures of it from what I can see. No complaints about it's size like with the SMG and Carbine, so that's a good sign. Biggest complaint so far is it's not completely compatible wwith 40 dart clips, only fires off the one side of the clip, but apparantly works fine with 20 dart clips. Apparently this was a problem with a Boomco gun called the Dynamag? The same fix in that gun involving something with springs is speculated to work with the Spiker
>>
>>5728415
The reviewer sounds like they've barely played with toys at all though, considering how shocked they are at some areas of the figure.
>>
>>5729532
From looking over their site, I'm fairly certain they got into toy collecting because of Halo, so yeah they probably never touched an action figure thats not McFarlane,
>>
>>5730712
>>5729532
Same impression I get too. Although he does have that captain America figure, so there is that. But he is at least dedicated enough to halo toys that he gets out information fairly fast a good amount of the time so I check him out now and then if there was anything I missed or want to see if he got a picture review before others yet.
>>
>>5728976
Lots off old shit scales with the old McFarlane figures.
>>
>>5732774
At least their elites, brutes, etc were more in scale with the Spartans then just a flat six inches as seems to be the case so far with the Mattel line. I'm sure the smaller aliens will probably be in scale at least since that means they won't have to spend as much on materials, they won't pass that up.
>>
If they can stand upright and hold their weapons then they're instantly better than the useless clumps I bought from MF
I don't even care about the paint, I just want some dudes that will stay vertical.

Got mine in today.

Overall is pretty good
>Nice size
>Great amount of details
>Comfortable to hold
>Red looks great in-hand
>Dart Clip fits snugly and subtley in the top-loading chamber
It could have used an 8-Round clip instead, as the default clip only is able to be taken out after firing two more times after it's emptied.

Unfortunately it isn't electric like I initially thought and uses the regular pull-back system, despite this it hits much harder than the regular Magnum

Hopefully the AR gets released in other colors or is a different shade of red. I'll still probably get it too if it's a nice size as well.

Common sale on amazon now.

Also i zoomed on an image of the AR and matched the clip cover to my 6 rounder from the SMG, i measured the zoomed image to be about 30 inched long which seems realistic considering its 49$ price tag when it comes out. The posted image is one of the ones i used.

These might as well be megabloks.
Shiny poorly painted kids toys, but at least MegaBloks has an excuse for being actual kids toys and being so tiny it's harder to paint.

I wish McFarlane had the license still, but was making stuff from the older series again. The new games are so boring.
Do note: only played Halo 1 multiplayer for social reasons and haven't played any others. I do own various comics and the short film collection, and the toys too.

>Wait is the mattel chief true 1/12th scale? Can I put him next to my loli figmas and he'll tower over them?
Well, for one thing, Figmas aren't actually 1/12 scale.
And that Master Chief on the left is roughly 5.5". the head is about .5" and it seems to be about 1.3 heads taller, so Mattel's Chef is about 6'... not 1:12 scale. In scale Chief would have to be nearly 7" tall.
