Recently: You're battling the fourth and final Elite Four member, Geno. Aria hurt her voice from pushing too hard. You're winning, but not by a huge margin.
General rules:
There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.
Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.
Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.
Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game.
Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

This is a nice quest.

Geno’s Altaria keeps steady as the poison begins to take it’s toll.
This one isn’t like his others. It lacks the keen, hard look in it’s eyes. But that doesn’t make it any less threatening.
Nibbles flexes. He’s take a few solid hits and just used Protect to stall. He’s a champ when it comes to taking abuse, though. Heavy damage doesn’t seem to slow him down one bit. If anything, he gets stronger.
“A wise move, but you can’t stall forever, Kat.” He reaches for a Pokeball. You remember that Altaria’s ability is Natural Cure. He might be switching. Or he might just be bluffing to make you drop your guard.
It’s risky. Unless he uses a very weak move, Nibbles could be knocked out.

Nibbles is pelted dead on as starts launch rocks. They only get a few feet since he was hit before pulling off the move.
“Oh! A hard blow!”
“Indeed, Chip. It’s typical of Geno’s well-known precision and accuracy.”
“Speaking of, Geno’s been coming up short of his usual performance when it comes to critical hits.”
“That’s right Chip. Our instant replay team has been on the case since the first few moves, and it looks like Kat’s Pokemon seem to be very guarded when it comes to their vulnerable spots.”
Nibbles takes awhile to get up, then he flops right over.
A referee lifts a card. “Tyrantrum is unable to battle!”
Damnit! Nibbles took a few super-effective hits already, and you guess he just didn’t have it in him to tank one more like that.
“You did good, Nibbles.” You retrieve him and reach for your next Pokemon.
At least the poison seems to be hurting Altaria. He doesn’t seem to concerned about it though.

Zappy Dan, your tough, shiny Pokemon appears.
The sunlight coming off of Dan is almost blinding. He looks especially shiny in contrast to the muddy, leafy mess that is the arena.
Geno narrows his eyes. “Now what’s this? You’ve got quite the game plan, don’t you?” His raven hair whips back from a sudden gust of wind. “Yes. Some sort of hidden ace up your sleeve. Now this is interesting.”
You try not to let it show on your face. His reputation for seeing through things is deserved.
“Come on, Dan. Let’s do this!”
Dan looks moderately excited. Not a lot, but more than usual. For Dan, that’s the equivalent of being very fired up, though.

“Altaria, come back!” He retrieves her and sends his next Pokemon out. “Fin Fang Foom, let’s show-”
At the same time, you have Dan use Flash Cannon. The sunlight gathers on a point on Dan’s metal shell closest to his target.
Geno slumps his shoulders and sighs just a little bit. But you still see a smile on his face. He gambled and lost.
The shot pierces through the air and his Tyrantrum. It’s always alarming, because it goes through Pokemon. Even though it obviously doesn’t make any holes, it’s jarring the first time you see it.
Fin Fang Foom was placed directly in front of the shot, taking it in a weak spot. He spins out and flails into the mud.
Geno raises his Pokeball, but then stops. His Pokemon rises to it’s feet.
“Are you sure?”
It nods. It has it’s pride. Even covered and mud and obviously hurt, it looks very intimidating.
“Very well! Fin Fang Foom, let show them the spirit of the dragon!”
He roars. Your heart races. There’s something about that determination that speaks to you. You’re also a bit worried. He could really hurt Dan if you don’t take him out quickly.
If Dan uses a weaker attack, you might be able to outspeed him. He’s pretty far thanks to Geno’s sloppy pokeball toss.

His Tyrantrum whips around and sends out a wall of mud towards Dan. It charges behind it. Damnit! You can’t see it clearly.
“Dan! Sonic Boom! Fast as you can!”
Dan works as fast as he can while making sure his attack is accurate. He shoots it off while close one eye.
“Amazing tactical move! Geno is using an advancing wall of mud to obscure Dan’s vision!”
“That’s right, Chip. Any electric attacks would have a hard time getting through that as well.”
Dan’s Sonic Boom whips upwards at the last second and catches Tyrantrum in the leg! It’s head spins forward and it twirls out again through the air. It’s feet harmlessly scrap over Dan and he crashes down right behind him. The wall of mud follows, covering them both.
Geno looks exasperated, but still very happy. “A great try, Fin. You've made me very proud.” He retrieves his Pokemon before the referees officially call it, but he makes a hand gesture to acknowledge them ruling him out of the fight. “You have nothing to be ashamed about.”

Altaria nods. It’s determined, but cute.
Dan casually removes the mud from it’s eyes. He’s no longer shiny. You worry it might affect the strength of his Steel moves that use Special Attack a little. Then again, it could help against any fire attacks a little bit, too

You let Dan shake off the majority of the mud, helping him get back some of his shine. “Mirror Coat!”
“I know it takes a lot out of you, but we’re in a bind! Tailwind Fire Blast!”
Altaria flies back upward a bit and uses Fire Blast. The red hot attack flies at Dan. It uses Tailwind to feed it a huge boost of oxygen, making flare as it strikes Dan. It’s a fire attack that rivals the best that Robert was throwing out.
Dan’s eyes go wide from the attack, but he holds on. He counters with Mirror Coat. The attack whaps Altaria from the sky in a way that reminds you of a whipping wet towel.
Geno retrieves his last Pokemon before it hits the ground.
“Altaria is unable to battle. Victory goes to the challenger, Kat.”
The crowd goes wild. Geno is saying something to his Pokeball and walks towards you.
Dan wobbles. You rush over to him and reach him just as he faints. That attack was intense. If he had landed a critical hit, or Dan didn’t do well enough on that move, there’s a chance they could have turned this around.
“Good job, Dan.” You can barely hear your own voice over the crowd.
Geno walks past. “Walk and talk, Kat.” He’s heading to the Pokemon center. Your friends are trying to rush over, but if you follow, you’ll miss them.

You get inside the building. He stops you before a corner and checks it. After he’s sure it’s fine, he takes you into a supply closet. He leans over you.
“Uhh, Geno?”
He puts a finger on your lip. You’re just about to grab it and bend it back when he pushes aside some cleaning supplies and opens a panel. It reveals a hidden door.
You follow him through. The door closes behind you. This is some sort of large bunker. Well furnished. There’s even a Pokemon healing machine here.
“My apologies. It was a fantastic match.” He starts booting it up.
You nod. “What's going on?”
He finishes fiddling with the machine and puts in his Pokeballs. You follow suit. Aria’s condition weighs on your mind. “I don’t want to alarm you, but I noticed some Team Imperium members. One was disguised as a security officer on your side of the arena. I didn’t see them until late into the match.” He smirks. “Don’t worry. I didn’t let it distract me. You won’t against me at my best. But I suppose now isn’t the time to talk about that.” He throws up a few images of Team Imperium members on a large screen and studies them to confirm.
“My friends! We’ve got to-”

Huh. That was easy. You guess by beating him, you’ve proven your judgement in his eyes.
He sits in front of the display, arms folded, eyes closed.
You lean over. “Aria, is she alright?”
He gives you a strange look before tapping away at the machine. “Hmm. Yes I see. Her voice. This won’t be healed by regular use of the machines. There’s some permanent scarring in her throat, but she should get her voice back in time. I’m unsure if she’ll sound exactly the same, but I doubt most ears will hear the difference.”
You sink. “What did I do...”
He glares. “Your Pokemon wanted to fight. Don’t you dare belittle its efforts.”
“But this is permanent.”
“Life is permanent, Kat. What good is a victory without sacrifice? Without real risk? I know that some of the others disagree with me on this, but I believe that if your Pokemon wants to push itself, you need to trust it. As a partner, you should let it reach it’s potential even if you worry. By holding them back, you do them a disservice. If you truly believe in them, then let them soar!” The cold, calculating man has been replace by a creature of passion. He really believes in what he’s saying. “Will Aria sound exactly the same? No. Will anyone but you and her and the most trained ears notice? Doubtful. But maybe, just maybe, this tonal shift will be a badge of honor for her. She was willing to put something very dear to her on the line to go beyond what she thought she could accomplish. She has proof of her determination. Maybe that’s not for everyone, but that’s what it means to be the champion, in my view. True cruelty is not letting your Pokemon do what they will to achieve their own dreams, even if it’s something you don’t like.”

You sit down and reflect on what he’s said for awhile. You wonder if Aria feels the same way. You wonder if you do too. “I should let the others know what’s going on. Maybe I can get a psychic message to Clair.”
He taps the walls. “This is an emergency bunker. The walls have a coating that blocks out psychic abilities and radio transmissions.”
The machine dings before you need to come up with an alternative. “Come on, then,” he beckons. “I’d rather not involve anyone else, but if you insist, you can get your friends. While I doubt they have too many members posing as guards, even one makes me wary to trust the others. We should exercise caution.”
He leads you down a series of tunnels until you get just outside the arena. There are a handful of people out here. It's probably the least trafficked part of the whole area. You think you see one of the Team Imperium members in the distance too. They haven’t noticed you yet.

You hide behind a dumpster and take out Aria. She’s about to spin up above your head to show off, but you stop her and hold her down. “Wait. I need you to contact Clair.” You fill her in.
She nods and makes a cute noise. It sounds off, though. She clears her throat and does it again. It’s a bit scratchy. She stops and closes her eyes to concentrate.
You peak over the dumpster. The Team Imperium member seems to have noticed the flash of light when you took Aria out. He glances around, then slowly starts heading your way.
Geno is hiding behind a small crevice in the wall. “We must be careful. A commotion might tip off the others and they’ll slip away. Bystanders might misunderstand and stop us.”
You feel a familiar tingle in your head. Clair’s voice echoes in your skull. “Kat? What the f-”
You fill her in as quickly as you can. The Team Iperium member is getting closer.
“You are such a...gah!” Clair fumes. “Do you have any idea how hard this is in a giant crowd? How difficult making sense of complicated concepts is between humans and Pokemon without a lot of practice and familiarity? It’s a miracle I understood anything. I don’t know Aria that well and all I could infer was you and a vague sense of Team Imperium. Thanks for that heart attack, by the way.”
You smile. Clair was so worried about you.
“Stop smiling! We’re on our way. Be careful. I’d tell you not to do anything stupid, but then you wouldn’t be you.”
“You be careful too,” you tell her as she does the mental equivalent of signing off.
The Team Imperium member is close. Geno gives you the impression that he’ll handle things if you can get the guy into position for him. You can’t risk saying anything out loud.

You undo your top a bit and push your boobs up. When you first started filling out, you were incredibly uncomfortable with how people started looking at you differently. But you grew up fast and ended up embracing it to make pickpocketing easier. It was almost too easy when it came to teenage boys.
But this guy gives you enough heeby jeebies that you just don’t want to do it this time. Plus you’re worried he’ll recognize you. You redo your top, sigh, and fall into a pile of cans and garbage. You do your best to look helpless.
“What...are you having a stroke?” The grunt comes around the corner. He sees Aria. “What is this!” His hand goes into his pocket, but it’s too late.
Geno sticks a needle in his neck and pulls him back into the shadows. You try not to make a noise. Even though you knew he’d do something, it still surprised you.
Geno lowers him down gently against the side of the building and puts the needle inside his coat pocket.
“Why do you even have that?”
He looks at you like you’re the weird one for asking. “Why wouldn’t I? I run a company that has many biomedical products. I’ve been dismantling Team Imperium in my off time.”
Geno doesn’t really think the same way as most people. He’s logical, you guess, but doesn’t really waste a lot of mental energy on pretending to be normal like everyone else does.
Aria nudges you, concerned about your dive into the garbage.
“I’m fine,” you assure her. Her concern for you makes you feel all the more guilty about her voice.
Geno searches his pockets, then covers him in newspapers. “He’ll be out for a while.” We can come back for him.”
Well, Geno is going to appear in your nightmares. He’d make an excellent serial killer. You and he keep hidden until your friends come around, and you wave them over.
This is going to be an interesting afternoon.

In my opinion it is important that she fight Violet first, as it's something she needs to do, as well as this way if she loses we both get to have challenged her, and if she wins then we will face off against Robin for the title, although i feel that either way we will end up squaring off against Violet one way or another.
