My group somehow roped me into DMing a skeleton only campaign in 5e. What should I put in it?
>>
Skeletons, clearly.

Zombies dual wielding clubs.

Two clubs + 1 slam attack a round.

Past that you should put in a masquerade ball where they have to pretend to be matching nobles with magical outfits, but at midnight everyone doff's their costume. (roll knowledge noble to see if they know)

A bard who has the inexplicable ability to make them dance.

Dogs. Lots of dogs. Dogs who make called attacks on femurs and can run off with them.

The opportunity to hide as a medical skeleton in a surgeons place.

The opportunity to all hide in a nobles closet together, only to be discovered by that nobles cleaning lady who mutters "knew it" and quietly closes the door.

Nothing. It is a completely normal campaign.

...except that the party is unaware that they are skeletons. They think they are regular people.

...everybody else is fully aware that the party are skeletons, though.

Skeletons.

Very humerus.

You mean like, they are skeletons, but have a wall of flesh and muscle surrounding their skeletons...

Like normal people?

Calcium, milk and bones.

You can make a camapign only with various undead. Normal humans exist a background, commoners etc but anything above lvl1 is undead:

Liches, vampires, dread knights...

I'm pretty sure D&D have a very long list of undead to chose from, not sure of how many of those are setntient enough.

Religion of The Bringers

Skeletons follow a belief that beings with meat are soon-to-be skeletons and that they are to be watched till their flesh grows weak and strong bones rise from beneath. These meatbags are called The Bringers.
Skeletons shy from direct confrontation with the Bringers and only engage when their territories are raided by meatbags, which is an event the skeletons don't quite understand. These fleshy beings walk to their homes, end their long lost relatives and in turn bring in more family for the skeletal tribe.
My 2cents.

Throw in some non-skeletons halfway through, and argue they're just skeletons with powered flesh-armour.

Skeleton only as in everyone is a skeleton? Or just the party is skeletons?

If it's the latter, I think it's obvious.

Whoops I meant the former. The former!

fuck.
>>
>The opportunity to hide as a medical skeleton in a surgeons place.

lol, that's so boneheaded it just might work
>>
>>46348819
Make it a joke campaign. Make it ridiculous and over the top. Have skeletons disguise as humans by dressing up in the right clothes, use cartons of milk as health potions, make up a stupid plot using cartoon logic. It's what the players expect if they're demanding a skeleton campaign. And if it's not, it's what they deserve.

I dont have a copy but this might have some good intro concepts for you.

Otherwise like it has been said above, maybe make it humerus.

>>

I prefer the idea that they're fleshy parasites that have coopted poor innocent skellingtons
>>
>>46350284
Nah.
They are just fleshy incubators that slowly construct and nurtures a healthy young skellington inside them until it is ready to molt and be born. Kind of like cocoon or larval stage of normal skellington lifecycle.

I suggest you put in about 20 minutes of prep. No more. This way you have a shot at running this campaign for longer than it took you to prepare to run it. The over/under is exactly 20 minutes.

The PCs are afflicted by a horrible curse that they are trying to lift.
A cleric casted some sort of slowly acting delayed resurrection spell on them which keeps regenerating flesh on their bones.
Those muscle growths attempt to take control of their movements and they fear that they will be trapped inside a body of living flesh, turning them into horrifying flesh creatures.

>Gravedigger BBEG trying to catch the "runaway" skeleton PCs

I was going to point out that there needs to be some kind of explanation for intelligent skeletons wandering about and going on an adventure (Like a necromancer spell going wrong) but I see that the only answer is that they just were bored in their graves and are basically some elders running away from a old folks home to have a fun weekend.

>Dogs that steal bits of them
I came here to say this.
Depending on how they react, it could be a good one-off encounter, or a recurring thing. Don't force that, though. If they let the dog off the hook, have it come back later. Don't make it impossible to kill because it's 'funny' or some shit like that. Maybe they'll adopt it. Or kill it, then adopt the skeleton dog.
