Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. Taking place in 284AC a year after the Rebellion has ended you are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy.

House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. The new Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.

If you’ve played the one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

And now without further ado.
>>
The fires in Steadhold’s hearths burnt fiercely, attempting to combat the chill another summer storm had brought in. You stop a moment, your monthly ritual of clearing the great hall with a step interrupted by a thought. Emerald flame reflects in your eyes as you stare into the fire, it crackles and bites into a fresh log fed by one of your servants. The past month had brought so much, you had not thought to return from King’s Landing with the weight of gold burdening your caravan. The trip home had been slowed by the carefulness Dontos had shown, he did not wish to bring undue attention to yourselves, despite the Goldroad being safe the majority of the time. It was an easy trip, until the storm had landed and near drenched you the entire rest of the way home. The Storms Gods come bore witness to the marriage of the King they spoke of, as if a monsoon was a sign of favor. By the time you had made it home the Blackwater Rush had begun to overflow, Steadhold’s moat was a mess of muddy water and debris and the bridge your castle watched over had a bum support and threatened to crumble. You had immediately had to put your builders to work, constructing supports and a scaffolding around the support, and pray to the Seven for reprival.

“Brynden?” Mason’s voice catches your ear and you turn to your old friend. The Knight had healed well enough from the Melee, but he had a new scar above his old one, looking like a one eyed monster with a terrifying grin. He had been able to ride home at least, though Elionwy had worried after him much of the way. It was an odd site to see Mason with a woman still, her quiet regard for him seemed cold, yet it was her eyes that spoke to him and he was always brought to a smile for them.
>>
You place a hand on Mason’s shoulder when he comes to you side fully, he was wearing a cloak of black otter pelt and it felt smooth against your hand, he slips his own onto your shoulder and you stand watching the fire for a quiet moment before he speaks in a harsh whisper, “We’ve yet to hear word from Illiad, Asher and Sallo, they should have arrived by now.”
Your brow furrows and thoughts turn to your Myrish companion, in truth you did not know whether or not to expect word from him, perhaps he wished to keep a lower profile while he was in Essos? He had not spoken at length of the subject, in the days before he left off his face had grown serious and collected, the other two Sons much the same. They took every meal together, spoke at length of plans you were only aware of in a cursory manner. When you had wished him off after arriving in King’s Landing, he only smiled and promised to be home soon. The use of ‘home’ was what had caught at you, a man from halfway across the world, who only knew Essos and traveling had found a home, and he intended to make it his family’s as well. Even in your own mind Steadhold hardly felt like home sometimes, it was in name and in fuzzy memories of rebellious youth, yet often you would find yourself awake in the deep of night, staring off towards the Narrow Sea from the Dragon’s Roost. It was wistful thinking at best, at worst desire. But you stayed, never stepping foot beyond the ports of King’s Landing.

“I would not worry after them Mason. Illiad is resourceful, how else would you explain him convincing two sellswords to buy him from a stockyard in the middle of Myr?”

The Knight thinks on this for a moment, “Aye, you’ve the right of it Brynden. I simply worry, I dislike having the Sons at partial strength.”

Turning to regard him fully and removing your hand you agree, “I as well Mason. But for now, we wait. Nothing more to be done for it.”

>>
He nods and leaves off to meet Elionwy and Benjin at the table. You see Wesley and Dontos speaking and Gawen coming in from the rain, near drenched himself. Your cousin has a look of unhappiness fixed on his face, no doubt the Tourney grounds were near soaked and construction had been halted to repair the bridge instead. While Dontos seems mostly unphased. Though he often seemed distance of late, the weight of your suggestion to court Lady Alexes Chelsted had been heavy upon his thoughts of late. He did not argue the notion with you, it was a fine match, you were his Lord, if it was a possibility to bring honor the House and her name of course he would do it. He worried though, incessantly, and you had yet to pry it from his lips as to what.

The great hall had near cleared out now, and you see Ser Lucas Longwaters lingering, he had offered to sit in with you but you declined, an ally still worthwhile in his House, but not one you wished upon your small council meetings as of yet. The Knight had taken to Steadhold rather happily, carving out a section of the eastern Tower as his home, a few of his own Household had come with, no more than servants though a boy as well. Grant Conklyn, his betrothed’s younger brother and heir to his House had come along as his squire, a surprising move by Lord Argor. The lad was absolutely thrilled to say the least, he spent any time the rain was light enough to be outside among your stables, curious of your horses and pestering Gawen with questions of your House’s Bloodline. He was a mite older than the other squires of the House, having served his father’s Household Knights before coming here, and in a few good years it was likely he would be Knighted in his own right. Lady Racheal had not come however, Lord Argor intent on seeing his daughter stay chaste before the marriage proper in a few months. Lucas had told you in private that it was an effort for naught though a small thing to allow the Lord.
>>
Your steps ring hollow throughout the hall as you come to the dial, regarding them all in turn and bidding them sit before doing so yourself. The highchair of your father had come to be comfortable beneath you at least, that small part felt like you belonged. Benjin is still moving through his papers, more than usual, though it was a much more important month than per usual. In two months you would be leaving for King’s Landing again, though this time in service to the Hand of the King, Lord Jon Arryn, and your Household would need be prepared for you abence for the peace talks. Not to mention the exorbitant amount of wealth you had acquired while in King’s Landing, winnings in multiple parts, and what to do with such a boon. Beyond that you knew Steadhold still suffered, the Outer Ring was still livable, though the population had yet to return still, what was once a small city barely ranged into the territory of a hamlet nowadays and it ate at you. Thoughts of projects suggested in the past still swirled about your head, as did the thought of paying off a sizable chunk of your debt to the Bank of Bays and it all managed to red on your face as Benjin sighs and calls you to attention, “My Lord. It would appear we have much to speak of this month, shall we begin?”

---

Before we begin to distribute Wealth and other things we have one more thing to handle. End of last thread we ended with the House Fortune Roll, gaining a Blessing. So that’s a 1d6 to one resource or 2 1d3s to two. So let’s decide that before anything. I’m going to assume 1d3 Power and 1d3 Lands.
>>
However I’ll remind, in the Glory event you got from your House’s performance in the Tourney in King’s Landing you gained 6 Defense. Unless we intend on building another Tower or something similar I believe this will do us little good at the present. Defense can however be converted to Lands at a 1:1 ratio, all 6 is enough to give us the 10 necessary to gain a Hamlet. That being said I know there was talks of investing in a Chapel, 1 Defense and 4 Wealth, as opposed to the full Sept, leaving us with 9 Lands should we convert the rest, 1 off from the Hamlet. Either way if we do the conversion this will leave us with the House Fortune Roll being used elsewhere, perhaps a full 1d6 to Power to pretty much guarantee we have enough for the Veteran Cavalry+Personal Guard unit. Or 1d3 Power and Wealth, because you can never have enough Wealth. Up to you guys.

So there’s some food for thought, let’s hammer out the details of the House Fortune Roll and any conversions of Resources we’ll be doing before we delve into Wealth talks.
>>
Awww yeah we're back baby.
>>
>>43217346
Get the hamlet, next month we can build the Sept
>>
>>43217304
At Sucking Cock.
>>
>>43217324
>1d3 Power and 1d3 Lands.

Correct

Wait with Sept and get the hamlet. We could ofcourse build a Chapel to compensate only cost 4 wealth
>>
>>43217346
People = Money

The more population we have, the more resources we can produce and the more money we can tax. We need the hamlet.
>>
>>43217419
>>43217464

You misunderstand, its not a one or the other thing. You can get both in the same month, it's more of a how question right now.

Even at maximum gains on a 1d3 you'd only get 3 towards your Lands, leaving you with 7. And not enough to get the Hamlet going.

I'm suggesting we convert our excess Defense into Lands, all 6 to fill out the necessary amount, and then proceed to use our House Fortune roll for other things.

In terms of the Sept, you have literally enough money to buy whatever you want right now. It's a nonquestion about being able to purchase it.
>>
>>43217346
Pass on the conversions. There's plenty of holdings that burn defense and we will want a Tower later anyway.

Defense is a bitch to get compared to basically every other resource.
>>
Convert all 6.
Buy Hamlet, fuck the Chapel.
Buy Sept.
Use 1d6 on Power.
>>
>>43217569
Lets do it anons way.

But remember we will also need a septon for it
>>
>>43217304
Ashole
>>43217275

Lovely quest you have here. Finally managed to get caught up on the archives.

>>43217479
Yes, money. We need to start amassing money and create a money machine, and for that we need some people so we can later build the market and the port we all know and love.
One thing I thought while browsing was if we could try and induct more people into the Sons of Gold and make it a proper mercenary outfit. If they step out of our force limit they could go for a contract outside our lands to another lord or Essos, and have a addendum in the contract that allows the Captain to recall them, say like using them against people the company is already under arms. It also makes our elite and unique troops like horse archers and Myrish Xbow men technically mercs and not something we have to provide as a vassal, but something the liege lord would have to contract, or we can graciously contract for him, and expect something in return.

lurker here, love these threads OP, never got a chance though to catch up with em beyond the first, Thanks for running these!
>>
I would vote for a hamlet, Food agriculture/mill, sporting horse herd/palfreys, timber, and then chapel, as well as artisan leatherworker

Which would cost 10 lands, 27 wealth, 1 defense. (but drop the chapel if we cannot do that).
>>
>>43217569
Seconded.
>>
>>43217623

Assuming of course the conversion. Anyway, thank you for running this quest. I truly appreciate it. I hope things work out for the best for you and your gf.

>>43217601

>>43217648
She appreciates it. Thank you.

>>43217599
What's funny is this is a legitimate suggestion given how much we have.

Alright seeing some mixed answers. Let's do a quick vote.

Conversion?

>Convert 6 Defense to 6 Lands
Gaining enough to cover the Hamlet purchase and freeing up the House Fortune roll for other purposes.
>Convert 5 Defense to 5 Lands
Placing us just below the necessary amount to purchase a Hamlet, and perhaps necessitating we use our House Fortune roll on Lands still.
>No conversions
Assume we'll be using at least 1d3 on Lands.
>>
>>43217702

>convert Defense to 6 Lands
>>
>>43217702
>Convert 6 Defense to 6 Lands
Activate it.
>>
>>43217702
>>Convert 6 Defense to 6 Lands
>>
Regardless of what we do we should probably put some of our spare wealth from the archery contest into forward payment of our debt.

That is if there is any
>>
>>43217774
There is, though it's not as bad as it once was.
Still not out of the woods yet.
>>
>>43217774
Agree'd

We can also use it as justification for putting off payment in future if we really desperately need to, since we would already be ahead on payments.
>>
>>43217774
Nah, we have super lenient terms now. We're better off investing that wealth. It will give bigger returns than the interest will subtract.
>>
>>43217774

I was assuming that we would save some wealth for the Myrish crossbow maker that would be coming our way. We could make him a Weaponsmith for crossbows/bows in general.
>>
Rolled 2 (1d6)

I figured this would be a bit of a dry start for everyone. Don't worry, we'll get to my overly long posts soon.

Anyway, conversion is ago. 6:6, and we now have enough for a Hamlet. Roll on this post is how long it'll take to finish up.

So, before we get to proper spending of our ridiculous Wealth. Time to figure out what we'll be using our House Fortune Roll for.

We don't need Lands at this moment. And Power, Wealth, and Population are our only main goals.

I'll remind, a Blessing is 1d6 to one resource, or a 1d3 to two.

A 1d3 on Power, even with a roll of 2 will give us the 11 necessary to purchase the Veteran Cavalry+Personal Guards unit. If you'd like to make goals to buy other units soon as well you could spend the whole 1d6 on it.

Bigger Population means more people. More people means more money. Which means a better House Fortune roll, we need 9 to fit into the perfect range for maximum gains.

And Wealth is Wealth. Can never have enough of that.

Discuss. If it gets muddy, I'll call another vote.
>>
>>43217900
I suggest we do 1d3 Power and 1d3 Defense.
>>
>>43217900
Wealth and Power as always. It's just the most efficient option.
>>
>>43217900

We should also invest in some men-at-arms since right now have 20 horse archers and 100 foot archers.

Pikemen will also be good.
>>
Alright seeing no other major pushes we'll go with that sweet Power and Wealth gains. Because they're everyone's favorite.

We'll start with Power. Give me a 1d3+1 everyone. I'll take the highest of the first three.

Line infantry should be made up of well drilled pikes/halburds flanked by strong heavy infantry support. Get that and you can basically gring an opposing army without pikes to death.

In seriousness we will probably have to make do with lots of levy spearmen and just get them well trainned with shield wall type formations.

Pikemen
Power Cost: 3
Discipline Modifier: 0
Key Abilities: Athletics, Endurance, Fighting

Starting Equipment/Upgraded Equipment:
Armor Rating: 3/4
Armor Penalty: -2/-2
Bulk: 0/1
Fighting Damage: Athletics +1/Athletics +2

Special Rules: When in Battle Formations, Phalanx or Square Formation, negate the effects of a hostile Charge from a mounted unit in head to head combat. If this unit is flanked or attacked from the rear add +3 to its Discipline Modifier.

And in a surprising twist we only get an extra +3. That's the first time you guys haven't rolled a 5 or 6 just to fuck with me.

So overall gain of +8. Giving us a grand total of 45 Wealth gained this month alone, and 46 to use. Fucking christ alive.

Alright, so I'll be auto purchasing two things.

First, the Veteran Cavalry+Personal Guard unit, for 11 Power and 2 Wealth. That is the unit you will gain at the conclusion of the Melee in Steadhold, the Wealth cost is for unit upgrades. The unit is detailed in the Military Spreadsheet still, and they are some tough bastards.

Second, the Tournament, aka the Melee in Steadhold for 5 Wealth. It is going to have to happen regardless, so might as well do it now.

And with that, you'll have 1 Power left over. I see some talks of future units, so that'll be good. And I like the mercenary idea. See if we can get that to work out.

And 39 usable Wealth.

I'm going to assume the Sept is a given at this point, that's a 15 cost, so leaving us with 24. And yes this includes a Septon.

Your debt is 98 at present, next month a payment of 1 is expected, unless you pay now in advance.

The rest is up to you guys, as is the above I would suppose if we want to hold out on it. The Council suggestions are still in the House Malroy Stats Spreadsheet.

And the related .pdf is the Out of Strife, Prosperity book. It includes other purchases if you are interested in something a bit different from the suggestions.

So... Go.
>>
>>43218352
>I would say a hamlet, Food agriculture/mill, sporting horse herd/palfreys, timber,as well as an artisan leatherworker

It would cost us 10 lands and 23 wealth, and leave us enough wealth left over for anything else we might need/ to fight off any bad luck.
>>
>>43218352
Did we ever get that Timber thing up and running ?

If not i think we should get that.

Maybe a Tourny master ?

Tolls and a Trading Inn
>>
>>43218352
Also. Since steadhold is still run down. How much would it take to completly repair it ?
>>
>>43218352
Timber for sure. Tolls is a nice one too since it also means we can control the flow of goods through our area more efficiently. It would also allow us to issue Toll pass's to favoured merchants to entice them to our area later on.

I suggest we then get an apiary, since that coupled with timber would help with cutting down costs for brewing booze as a trade good in the future.
>>
Some quick thoughts from your Council.

Benjin and Dontos both suggest heavily to at least put some, maybe 10 Wealth towards the Debt.

Mason and Wesley are in favor of anything that involves infrastructure of Steadhold and the military at large. Artisans, Military Academy, etc.

Gawen would like to get the Sporting Herd, but it isn't a priority to him right now.

Benjin also suggests purchasing a Smelter or Mastersmith to capitalize on our iron trade with the Longwaters.

Elionwy seems to be in favor of funding ventures in Steadhold's domains, timber, apiary, etc. She sees worth in alcohol distilleries, not something your House is known for.

Dontos is just happy you're considering the Sept at all. He's practically giddy with joy.

Do you know what we really need? The one man who could save us from our own need to fuck women and insult Queens?

A Lawyer.

That's right, when a Barrister costs 10 Wealth for a +2 to house fortunes and +1D to Intrigue involving the law when he's representing us.

Lawyer up.

PLEASE have our personal lawyer be named Saul, Father.
>>
>>43218409

If I am reading the out of strife, prosperity right it would give us a total of

+4 house fortune rolls and
+1 to pop, power, and wealth (one time I assume)
>>
>>43218494
Benjin and Dontos are wrong. Investing it will do far more for us than paying down a debt with low payments.
>>
>>43218452
Oh nothing actually, that's mostly a thematic thing. As you continue purchasing upgrades, such as the Hamlet and Sept, stuff like that, it'll get to its former glory in a time. Also investing in Population will regrow the Outer Ring.

>>43218514
+1 to pop, power, and wealth (one time I assume)

Not quite, it'll give you those Bonuses to your House Fortune Roll modifiers. Which is why you get a +1d6 to Wealth.
>>
>>43218508

>>43218557
I'm not quite sure I follow.

Alright. So let's see if I can round up some ideas here. I've seen no descent on purchasing a Sept, so that's a go, roll on this post is how long it'll take, it's a real venture.
>-15 Wealth
>Usable: 24

Timber looks like it's generally agreed on.
>-5 Wealth
>Usable: 19

Few bits and pieces for other ideas. Tolls seems to be the next idea with a degree of support. So vote.

Tolls?
>Purchase for 5 Wealth
>Do not

The next idea is the Barrister. I had wondered if anyone would catch onto him being available before the trial but Dontos seemed to serve just fine. It's not a bad purchase really with some support. I'll put it to a vote.

Barrister?
>Purchase for 10 Wealth
>Do not

And I'm seeing a lot of people fine with putting off paying anything on our Debt. Which is surprising to me, but the terms are mighty fine. Yeah Dontos will be a bit miffed about it, but the Sept will keep him occupied. Just in case though, vote.

Debt?
>Make a payment? (Specific amount)
>Do not
>>
So not really the time, but we should "offer" to pay for the midwife for the seamstress's daughter, because a midwife in our employ will be more honest if anything in the birth is... Questionable. I mean if it's a girl I don't care if it's a month too early to have been ours we should still recognize it as long as its not black for that sweet sweet alliance, but I'd like to know
>>
>>43218730
I'd like to keep around 10 in reserve, so either tolls and 4 debt or just the barrister
>>
>>43218730
Purchase Tolls,
No Barrister (Not yet anyway)
No Debt payment.

We need a reserve of wealth incase shit goes weird while we are away. I suggest we keep a nest egg hidden away where we found the dragon bone in the kings landing manor.
>>
>>43218730

I'd go for tolls, then roll over the barrister for later. Then spend 5 on paying down the debt.

That should leave us with 9, and we'd get barrister next month or two.
>>
>>43218730
I vaguely remember us rolling the maximum build time on some stuff in construction, I might have imagined it though. I thought you were justifying the delays with the storm and bridge stuff.

>Tolls and Barrister yes
>Paying down debt no

Also I think it's hilarious imagining Brynden bringing up the subject of having a permanent attorney on retainer.

Oh, this is nice. I really love the Library and its upgrades, Scriptrium, Research Archivist and Observatory.

If we get to have a town and port we should get the library and all its upgrades for the Observatory, because coupled with a Market on the Kingsroad, a Port, and perhaps a Lighthouse we can make a very attractive place to unload or load stuff, especially if we make improvements in Road, Sewers and build lots of Warehouses.

See, Kings Landing was not designed, so if we can get a Architect to plan our city around moving and storing freight with proper sewers, roads and roofs, once we have the population to run a market town, and the port unloading in our town or future city would be cheaper than paying the Kingslanding docking fares, and then storing the goods here until they are in season and then carting them to KL through the market via the Kingsroad.

Fully upgrade library, that is accessible to everyone who buys a permit and Observatory and Lighthouse would make ships even more attracted to come here to make sure they have their readings right, or to check their maps, get maps, or copy maps (house rules that any map copied gets a second copy made for the house archive of course)

This should make us a very attractive commerce center, and it is possible to build precisely because we are so depopulated and can buldose and replan the whole city in proper fashion with straight, wide streets that can handle carts all perpendicular and parallel to one another and not serpentine.

In a way it would be like a mini Valyrian return with order and good administration.

Hell we could get a Scholar to build a school and profit on the Library and have every child who can not help yet with the work and have one day every ten day to learn numbers, some basic economics and letters and Valyrian, for our subjects of course, so that every craftsman, trader or vendor can list prices and hold books of their own and not have money problems.
Its a nice goal imho.

We would need a engineer, but we don't have the income for continuous wealth and defense buildings yet...

Our current wealth is a lump sum.
>>
>>43218812
That's not a bad end goal game. Though we will only be getting services from the Blackwater Rush and the Goldroad, seeing as we're inland.

That being said, a port is still possible, it only needs a River and Small Town to be purchasable.
>>
>>43218812
Sure. We might aswell also build a second wall and a underground canal in Dorne and finish it off by making the colossus of Braavos kneel

Exactly. Every single GoT quest has the flock of people thinking we can become an economic powerhouse in the span of a few years just because.

Absolutely no advance payment of the debt. Make the payments as they come. For every wealth in interest we avoid by paying down we could easily make an order of magnitude that amount by spending that wealth on Tolls or a Barrister

Tolls?
Yes.

Barrister?
Not yet. It's sort of split, so I'll let the idea sit for now.

So you still have 14 left over to use, anymore suggestions or should we just keep it as a nice little nest egg?
>>
>>43218812
I feel that Brynden'd rather have a city build for the whoring and the warring than books.
>>
>>43218928
Sewers while at hamlet size would have to be reworked constantly and at considerable cost for their actual use at the time.

It would be better to put that down mostly in one go than do it peice meal like we would have to with an expanding population.

I agree yes to the Barrister, but paying the debt in advance does practically nothing for us since the interest is low enough as is and we have absolutely no business burning our one time windfall on saving a bit of interest instead of investing it in elevating our position.

>>43219085
It's more to keep Dontos happy at this point. We've done enough to piss him off lets just do this and follow his advice.

They did, while House Tully and the other River Houses fought in the war, Walder waited and built granaries for food that would be lacking at the end of the war. If there's one Noble House that had the means to take the Great House title from it's Lord's before the War of the Five Kings, it's House Frey, even the Lannister from Lannisport can't compete
>>
>>43219140
Father has stated multiple times Dontos is happy. We've invested half of our prize money in a sept. I'd rather capitulate to Dontos when it's actually a good idea. It's not like there's a shortage of Dontos being smarter then us. Just not on this occasion.
>>
>>43219157
Doubt it. She is most likely on her way back to Dorne to report.

>>43219164
The Freys own a significatly larger amount of land than us and it is much better located for that kind of thing. We are living 1 day ride away from Kings Landing.
>>
Well alright it actually looks like there's more support for the Barrister. Sure, why not. It'll be a grand time. Yes I'll name him Saul, it amuses me.

Barrister
>-10 Wealth
>Usable: 4 Wealth

And with that, there we go. Used most of our Wealth and bought a lot of stuff. And some things I had not expected to buy.

Let me collect everything together, the House Stats sheet should be updated in a few seconds.

As a point. You now have a +3d6 to your House Fortune Modifier. A lot of that is from the trade deals you enacted, but still. Christ alive guys.

Let me get my stuff together and I'll give it a good write up.
>>
>>43219191
We could invest some money into a trade company in kings landing, use it to direct a small flow of trade our way and as a point of sell for our own goods when we start brewing or if we start selling horses again.
>>
>>43219231
>Christ alive guys.
It hasn't even begun.
>>
>>43219232
We already got the trade from the Gold Road through our land. We just need a toll booth and a trading inn to earn cash from it

>>43219231
Also dont forget our EXP
>>
I seriously kind of wish for a quest taking place in the Iron Islands, in the time before Balon's decide to throw a party. This would be Dante Must Die mode that's for sure.
>>
No fucking with the debt. Its pointless. Our rates are super reasonable. So reasonable that i am tempted to propose a bank of bays rep or something in our future city. To show our appreciation as a satisfied customer.
>>
>>43219324

Maybe a branch of their bank in our city? We would, of course, get reasonable rates of return for renting our land and trades would have to be finalized by us (we wouldn't them to have a debt monopoly on our lands).
>>
>>43219271
While true, most of the foreign trade is bought by merchants in kings landing before it travels onwards. If we have our men buying from the ship traders we cut out a step in the buying loop, so we can sell the goods in our lands ourselves for a step cheaper price and send them on further inland where kings landing goods are harder to come by.

That is what i meant by sponsering a merchant. We get the toll set up, then give certain merchants under our employ exemption status crossing our roads. Both partys make profit while making rival faction merchants less powerful in our lands.
>>
>>43219319

I agree, but it should start around Robert's Rebellion.
>>
>>43219354
Wouldnt make much sense for them since Kings Landing is just 1 days ride away.

But damn Dontos must be proud of us.

We won the archery contest.
Managed to not insult anyone too badly
As far as he knows we did not sleep with Obella
and now we are building the Sept back up again
>>
Rolled 2, 5 + 12 = 19 (2d6 + 12)

>>43219271
>Also dont forget our EXP

That will be coming up next in a scene with Dontos and your new Superior Half-Plate arriving. Everyone get excited.

>>43219319
I won't lie, that was my second option for this quest. I'm considering running one if House Malroy runs its course.

Anyway, one last roll for the Barrister.
>2d6+12

And now for writing.
>>
>>43219391
If we get on that, it might be smart to cut a further deal with the others along the following road such that their own similar merchants don't get a toll from us and ours don't get a toll from them.

Makes having the houses that agree even better noble patrons and everyone else even worse
>>
>>43219720
Its basically a pesudo monopoly based on the road system.
>>
>>43219742
Its a cartel! Technically not a monopoly, and requiring somewhat more complex legislation to ban!
>>
>>43219761
>and requiring somewhat more complex legislation to ban!

Actually all it has to take is the king says no because Feudalism.
>>
>>43219791
Which would be equivilent of banning merchants from trading. Thats going to go down well with practically everyone.
>>
>>43219791
Nah thats the opposite of feudalism, nobles defend the fuck out of their own rights.
>>
Cityplan anon here

We are on the Gold Road and gave a river connection? That is even better. We do not need the observatory as bad and we have even better reasons through us one can ship and cart wares to and from the reach, westerlands and crownlands to Kings landing or other parts. And we do not have to compete with coastal ports.

Plus a major complex of warhouses is better her than in KL where rent and real estate has to be exorbitant.

Hell with their large population they should have little room for extra warehouses. Couple this with market and docks as well as a KL trading company and perhaps some banker reps from the Bank of Bays and one from the Iron Bank to have some competition and we have a decent shot at being a pretty important trade hub that deals with inland south and western westeros.

And with a few more such wins over the years in tournaments i could see this goal done by midgame instead of endgame.

This is even better than i imagined fearing KL comperition.
>>
>>43219791
The only way the king could stop such a plan would be to impose a set toll rate cap for all roads in the kingdom. Even then since we would be sponsering the merchant, every time they use our road the same money just gets passed back and forth like a hot potatoe without breaking any rules.

To solve the problem permanently would require the king taking power from the nobles.
>>
>>43219865
Lots of "if" and "maybe" for that. Not to mention the fact that we have the Queen against us, three houses who hate our guts. One who has our sister, we have very few friends and pissed off the other Valyrian houses, to think they would just let us do that is a bit naive.
>>
>>43219791
>>43219822
>>43219833
Let's say the crown bans houses from exempting each other's merchanys from tolls. Instead we convert into a package deal where we all buy into each others merchants so we're not exempting each others merchants we're exempting out own. Now the crown needs to ban joint ownership by noble houses and that's going to hit more than just us, and we can probably STILL come up with a setup that doesn't run afowl of the new laws.

>>
>>43219865
Problem with this is that in-land water routes are childs play to cut off. We would get no joy trying to butt in there i can pretty much guarantee it.

As far as the city(if we choose to go that far) is concerned, we might be limited in size just due to the closeness of kings landing. Its also a discussion for a later date really. Frankly Eco whoring is not our primary goal as far as im concerned.

“Of course Benjin, let’s see what we have to work with,” you respond knowing the truer answer to this, you simply wished to hear the sum in words.

Your Maester eyes you with a chuckle and pulls a paper from his pile and flicks it out, pressing it down upon the others, “As you are well aware my Lord the winnings from your Trial and the Archery Contest brought home a sizable amount of coin. 6,600 gold dragons to be exact. Another 400 was had from House Longwaters in sale of Horse. And-”

Mason interjects, “Another 400 from Curtis Flowers, Brynden. The rest of his winnings from the Tourney, though he spent it on your Archers almost immediately.”

Benjin gives the knight a sidelong look and clears his throat continuing, “Yes, another 400. And then another 1,600 still from the Houses activities while we awayed. Sales of horse, merchants stopping along the way to make purchase and ply their wares, sale of grain and etc.”

You begin to tally the sums in your head, it was more money than you had ever seen in your life, and you begin to speak the amount before Benjin cuts you off with a sharp look.

“9,000 gold dragons in total my Lord.”

Your council sits quiet for a moment, allowing the sum to sink in. Wesley is staring at you dumbfounded, while Dontos allows a smile to creep about his face. Benjin continues shuffling through his papers before speaking again, “I believe we have more than a few matters of wealth to speak of my Lord.”

“To say the least,” Dontos replies, “We could pay off a sizable amount of the Debt with this Brynden.”

DId we or did we not fuck the hot dornish lady, and is or is she not in a suitable postion for marriage, and is or is she not also in a good position to bargin for this through the peace negotiations and the clandestine offering of a hand in friendship?

Frankly the entire affair is not very far from falling into place perfectly. Which of course is making me paranoid about spanners being thrown into the works. E.g. john sending his selected bride for us along with the delegation so we have to dodge her constantly.
>>
“Or allow it to serve purpose at home Uncle,” you respond, your mind had been churning with ideas ever since gaining a rough tally in King’s Landing. You crack your neck and pull for a map of Steadhold and her domains, “Steadhold still needs our attention. The Outer Ring is in need of rebuilding, beyond that the Sept, faith will help heal our people’s wounds, and lastly I do believe we should begin to tolling passage across the bridge and through our stretch of the Goldroad, I’ve had more than enough of Royce’s glorified highwaymen robbing the good travelers.”

“The… The Sept?” Dontos says with a whisper, his eyes fixed upon the location it once stood, “Yes Brynden. I could see no better purpose than to give to the Seven in thanks for such a boon.”

“And tolling the bridge should be more than easy to begin again my Lord,” Benjin finishes, allowing your Uncle to daydream again, “I do believe the Outer Ring need only a few more months to reach what some would call a hamlet my Lord, far from its former glory and sections of the town are still burnt out, but those of importance should be able to hold our smallfolk with easy and return commerce. Assuming the flood doesn’t wash them away.”

The heavy rain upon the castle’s roof reminds you of another few investments, “Mason, how many men return with us from King’s Landing in hopes of services?”

“More than a few Brynden.”

“Good, I believe we’ve the strength to begin to calls proper for Knights of the realm to join the Melee,” Wesley perks up at this, “Yes cousin, the gold to host the event is yours.”

The younger Hayford runs a hand through his dirty blonde hair, and smiles brightly, “I will send calls as far west as Lannisport. Perhaps the Vale… The Reach for certain.”

Benjin scribbles down a few tallies, “We’ve still more than enough wealth my Lord. Perhaps payment-”
>>
“No Benjin. We need to invest, our lands will serve us from the debt greater than unnecessary payments. The terms are finer than we could have hoped for, I see no reason to not abuse them.”

“As you say my Lord,” the elder man ruffles slightly, and Dontos looks cross with the notion, though still appeased with the Sept being a priority.

Elionwy prods at Mason and he begins to speak again, pointing towards Hemgrove to the northeast, “Brynden. We need timber, lances, bows, arrows, building materials. All of it. You did take that forest with bloody purpose, might as well use it.”

You chew the thought and agree rather rapidly after a brief moment, “See it done.”

You review your tallies again, roughly 1800 gold dragons left and a thought niggles in the back of your mind. You were helpless in the face of the King’s Law, you knew little and less of the law, Benjin only a degree, and parades of accusations were only the damning nail in the coffin. You needed someone with experience. You still had far too much restraining the might of your House, that would need be a trial of its own, and not one to be won with swords.

“Benjin, do you know anyone with an exceptional knowledge of law, a… Lawyer I’d suppose?”

The Maester taps his chin a moment, and his brow furrows, “A barrister would be the proper term my Lord. No one outside of the Citadel though at present. Why?”

“I would see someone with knowledge of law under our employ, I was a helpless whelp before the Queen. I do not wish to be so again in the future,” you respond firmly. Thunder catches the end of your words.

“I shall write to the Citadel then my Lord. Perhaps they would know a man…”

“Thank you Benjin, see it done.”

“Of course my Lord,” he scribbles a few more tallies and looks to you expectantly, “I do believe that is it then my Lord? Our considerable wealth is now considerably less. I would say that their investment is where is needed most my Lord.”
>>
You lean back into your seat and chew on the thoughts some more. A few deal of wealth spent, but one of investment. Of the future. You breath in deep and lean forward again and nod to Benjin, “Yes. I do believe that is all. Thank you everyone.”

Your small council convenes and begin to leave off in pieces, Mason wishes your ear later along with Wesley, and Dontos says he has a surprise for you when you have the time, and to bring Victus. Elionwy escorts Maester Benjin to his seat, no doubt helping with the final tallies and sending ravens to where they need go. Gawen leaves off with a grumble about the bloody rain and how the storm gods can keep their piss to himself. And for a moment you are alone. Thoughts calm, only interrupted by the occasional boom of thunder, and they turn to a degree of happiness. You felt a Lord for a moment, investing in your lands with power and wealth, instead of whoring it away on food and women.

Though your mind still kept to the few women in your life. Lady Obella’s voice kept in your mind, her easy motions, the taste upon your lips, an ally in Dorne, but who. Though the taste was mixed with the unpracticed moment of weakness from Lady Giselle, you did not know the end game with her, how Lord Arryn thought you would fall for someone with a diminished value, it simply made no sense. And in the back of your mind Cecilia sat, pregnant with your supposed child, Dontos still hadn’t spoken of it, and you were nervous of this, the child could be of use, but it was not of love, like Victus, it was of lust.

You shake idle thoughts from your head and go to stand, wishing to find company amongst your Household.

Even if we were going HDW, we're going to Dorne soon and if we've going that way, I think Doran is the much better option for an ally over Oberyn- try and get a match through him. (Maybe an wife from the Boneway house- the one with the snake/foot motiff.)

We then just use horse archers and heavy cavalry and try keep our losses to a minimum while paying lip service.

WHat happens when dorne rebels is something to think on when it happens.

>>43220799
We are surrounded by fairly bad matches really. Anyone in our near area is going to call on us for aid we just straight up cant pull off right now or the intermediate future.

Giselle is one of the worst options for us on a house level due to her sheer lack of standing. The hand's support be damned.

But with the dorne backing we have a potential long term trade parnter and a very very safe place to ship future kids off to if shit heads south.
>>
>>43220861
the dices are in this thread, those that require a d6 are +6 months added to the roll, so that 2+6 is 8 months or something
>>
>>43220870
The sad part is that shes actually worthless enough for that.

That said, no no no. HDW wankery is bad enough, we are not going to do that.
At least not planned in advance. We all know about Brynden's poor impulse control.
>>
>>43220870

Giselle seems Sandsa-lite. We probably could "persuade" her into being a mistress, which would essentially completely fuck up her life. Dorne is pretty liberal when it comes to women having sex and y'know rights. The rest of westeros not so much.

Dontos spoke of a surprise and it felt an odd thing, you thought there was something of note but could not recall entirely. But he said to bring Victus along, so you thought it a good idea to spend some time with your family. Your son was found about the yard, he was helping the others attempt to calm your horses, he was having the most success of it, a trait he shared with you. Goldsong was amongst the stables with the smattering of other horses that were as calm as he was, and that is where you found your muddy and drenched son, smiling with gaping teeth, he had lost two of his baby teeth and looked absolutely ridiculous. He had insisted he needed a new silver tooth like the one you had now and you had talked him down, though not without an exceedingly long amount of argument. You sent him off to get a bath and told him to come to the armory when he was done.

The halls of Steadhold had begun to bustle a slight amount more, your servants intermingled with those of Ser Lucas’, various members of your military were about, retainers of all sorts and the occasional Knight promising to serve you, though put off until they could prove it in the Melee. A particular Ser Wat Waters was rather persistent of the thought, and you often found him about the yard with your other knights, though he did a poorer job of the rest.

Stepping into the armory you find the smith from King’s Landing examining a beautiful set of armor, the onyx plate of your Uncle. He turns and bows to you, his left leg seemed a bit crippled and it was a difficult exercise, and you nod him off.
>>
>>43220870
I'm all for being loyal to arryn, but being loyal to arryn is not being loyal to Robert and arryn is an old man... I wouldn't be against saying exactly that to the martells either.
>>
Guys, Tytos is just a Westerlander name. Does not mean he is a "lannister"

But yeah, chance is that he is a spy for the Queen
>>
I've been wondering what would happens if Dontos/Brynden survive up to the War of the Five Kings, would they side with the Queen Bitch or Stannis.
>>
“Nephew,” Dontos begins turning the corner and waving you over, “Steely Pate was the man that constructed my armor all those years ago, and now, your own.”

Follow after you find a manikin suited up with plate as fine as your Uncle’s. Onyx plate as dark and beautiful as his own, details of gold, upon the breastplate was an inlay of a golden horse running as your sigils did. The helmet was more or less plain, though it was a solid thing, no visor, Steely Pate insisted visors were a weak spot. The only thing that caught your notice was how little it was comparably to your Uncle’s own.

“Half-plate Brynden. I knew you would never truly wish to be without your mobility. So a settlement. It still offers far more protection than the rags you wear now,” he says, picking the helmet off the manikin and handing it to you. It felt heavy in your hands, but it seemed right, Lordly attire, “Come nephew, we’ve need to do a final fitting.”

Steely Pate begins to help dress you part by part, making small adjustments where needed and hammering in the final measurements while you stood half dressed in plate, Dontos by your side.

“Nephew. We’ve something to speak of.”

You had dreaded this, of course he would catch you while there was a witness, he knew better than to do these things without them anymore, “Of what Uncle?”

“Your... “ he sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose, “Of your supposed bastard. That seamstress girl in King’s Landing.”

You shift uncomfortably, Steely Pate sitting a vambrace over your arm grumbling at the fit and leaving off to fix it, “What of her Uncle?”
>>
He sighs again and fixes you with a level gaze, “I asked the Seven for guidance, and they calmed my wrath Brynden. I cannot change the man you are despite it spitting in the face of their teaches. So… I will make you a deal.”

You eye your Uncle uneasy, “What sort of deal?”

He crosses his arms, hand resting on his chin, “I will… Court Lady Alexes Chelsted. For our House,” his words felt awkward and forced and he attempted to maintain a serious look upon his face but it was awash with worry, “If you do not recognize the child. Pay the girl and her mother and be done with it. Just please do not bring another bastard into this House.”

You chew on the thought, Steely Pate working on your breastplate now, it fitting like a glove on the first try and he finally smiles. It wasn’t an unfair deal per say, but if the child was a daughter you had a chance to marry her to Landed Knights. Not exactly an elevation for them, but still a marriage that served you. A boy would be a ward, perhaps become a Knight in time. And you felt a pang of guilt, you would be simply leaving the child, even if it wasn’t yours.

Well? What say you?
>Agree to his deal

>>43220926

Oh no he's definitely a Lannister. That being said, he was a lower cousin, much lower, and born far before anything happened. He is now in total service to the Faith, he's coming to Steadhold for purpose. To atone for the sins of his family. Maybe.
>>
>>43220966
>Compromise

Let the child be raised in the Villa in kings landing.
>>
>>43220966
Tell him exactly what the original alliance the longwaters offered was, and say that if it's a girl she'd be way too useful. Otherwise... Okay, but we'll absolutely get more tailoring done there to 'discretely' check in. (Don't tell him that part though.)
>>
>>43220966

Backing
>>43221002

But state that its only if the child is a girl, since we can cement our relations with the longwaters by marrying her to their son.

If the bastard is a boy then we can go with his proposal.
>>
>>43220966
Uncle if it is mine beyond doubt there were thoughts of marrying them off to the Longwaters boy if a girl. A boy would serve as ward then knight. But if it's not I agree. I'll have nothing to do with them. But you marrying the Lady Chelsted is good for the house regardless. That is something you must do to bring honour to the Malroy's.
>>
>>43220941
>>43220966

Victus was born of love, when we were free to do as such. The seamstresses daughter was just lust and an accident of chance. We might check up every four or five years, but I wasn't planning to recognize the child anyway unless they turned out to be exceptional in some way.
>>
>>43220966
>>Agree to his deal
>>
>>43220966
>>Disagree
He's not in position to argue. It's his duty to do as the Lord demands. Like it or not he will court the Lady if we order him to do so.
>>
>>43220966
We should try and convince Dontos that marrying a girl to the Longwaters would be too useful. But if its a boy then we can just pay and be done with it.
>>
>>43220966

>Compromise.

Don't recognise the child, but keep them in Malroy lands, maybe the seemstress could live in the Malroy Hamlet. Making sure the child had a safe and secure future. The Mother would surely approve.
>>
>>43220966
Backing >>43221002 If the child cannot fulfill the requirments of our promise to the longwaters.

The child will not be recognized but employed in the Villa when they come of appropriate age
>>
>>43221072
He is in every position to argue and it would be a massive dick move to try force him. He is family after all. I do not think we would sit right doing so.
>>
>>43220966
>Disagree
Bastard or no, family is family. The Longwaters were willing to marry a natural born daughter.
>>
>>43221002
Ugh no that's be terrible. I doubt we're going to let the seamstress's daughter live in the villa, and we're at steadhold 90% of the time, so she'd be growing up without mother AND without father.
>>
>>43220966
That's not a deal at all, like it or not if we order him he'll court and sing for the Lady.
What he gonna do? Refuse after going all that length about duty and bringing honor to the House? Hypocrite much are you Dontos?
>>
>>43221082
Nah they're way better off learning to be a tailor in King's landing than in a hamlet that might be on the edge of war.
>>
Also, I thought we weren't going to force him to court this woman anyway?
>>
>>43221120
If we're going to disagree, let's be reasonable. Point out the Seven would not approve of abandoning the child. Don't be a dick to Dontos, he's trying his best with our bad behaviour.
>>
>>43221072
>>43221120
That doesn't mean he has to do it well. And as I've said before, Dontos is indeed a bit of a hypocrite.

Alright so compromise, this is going to require some convincing rolls.

I'm guessing this is mostly if the child is a girl and is without a doubt Brynden's child. Recognize her, raise her in the Malroy Villa, marry to Aenys Longwaters.

If a boy, do not recognize? Pay them and be done with it, perhaps make a payment towards them being a squire or picking up a trade somewhere down the line.
>>
>>43221095
That'd make him a hypocrite, which he his since for all that bitching and moaning he did when Brynden told the Celtigar to fuck off, he'd do the same if it was his choice.

Know who didn't throw a bitchfit when he got passed over the right to rule his Realm? Stannis. He ground his teeth into powder and set sail to Dragonstone.
>>
>>43221159
>If a boy, do not recognize?
No lad, blood of my blood. We'll have the lad, too.
>>
>>43221159
>If a boy, do not recognize? Pay them and be done with it, perhaps make a payment towards them being a squire or picking up a trade somewhere down the line.

Don't recognise, but pull some nepotism to make sure they have a decent future and options
>>
>>43221159
Agreed.
Keep an eye on the boy (if its a boy) in secret.

>>43221183
Stannis follows the rules to a fault. While his integrity is to be admired he is not a man i would wish to emulate.
>>
Just because he WILL do his job if we put our foot down doesn't mean he will do it well. Make the argument and capitulate if we need to.

Don't bother with nepotism for a boy, just hand over some money and wash our hands.
>>
>>43221159
It depends on how much he looks like us. If he got silver hair and green eyes, yes. But if he looks like his mother in pretty much everything then no.
>>
>>43221183
>And murdered his baby brother with black magic.
>Kidnapped his nephew(s) to burn alive.
>Cheated on his wife.
>Burnt his daughter alive (in the tv show)
>>
>>43221159
Well personally I dispute the 'in the villa' because its shitty for a child to grow up without both parents. But if everyone else looking for a compromise wants that its better than straight refusal or agreeing.

Also point out that we're 90% sure the lady in question specifically wants him because of the total lack of baby-making that will happen so there will be no motive to kill off her current son.
>>
>>43221159
Do we need to recognize a girl right away? Or can we wait a few years until our House is in a better position? We can't really afford a scandal right now, we are unpopular enough as-is. Just a quiet word to the Longwaters that we have a daughter and will recognize her in a few years when half of the crownlands aren't breathing down our necks(assuming it is a girl).
>>
>>43221262

My assumption was the Seamstress would live in the villa too.
>>
Don't raise her in the Villa. That's a terrible idea. Literally the exact opposite of what we would want when we've already caused enough scandal in the crownlands.
>>
>>43221221
That was one of the greatest dick move Robert ever pulled, the greatest was to fuck some cunt on the marital bed of Stannis the night he got wed and have the Bastard Son that came out of it live into Storm's End like nothing's wrong.
>>
Given that we've been pretty bro to the longwaters would they still be happy marrying a baseborn daughter?
>>
>>43221266
Well we'll need to raise them as nobility so we aren't handing the longwaters a peasant with fortunate paternatity but a noble bastard, and I almost suspect that raising her WITHOUT recognizing her would be worse because it'd be such an obvious secret bastard and no one thinks well of a badly kept secret.
>>
>>43221304
I mean, will it make that much of a difference if we don't start raising her "right" until she's three or four? We just have a lot of heat on us right now.
>>
>>43221303
Since it was there original offer I think even if it disappointed them it wouldn't JEOPARDIZE anything at least.
>>
It might be worth pointing out to Dontos that Victus is a bastard and still a good and godly lad.
>>
>>43221351
Do NOT do that. Victus was born of love during a time when we had no family duties. The Seamstress's Daughter we just fucked.
>>
>>43221338
I wouldn't be opposed. Also gives the mom some extra time with the kid, it'd be cruel to immediately rip it from her breast.
>>
We really should get married and have some trueborn heirs.
>>
Just for kicks I wonder how he'd fell if instead of the Chelsted Lady we sic on him Fat Walda(who may not be fat yet, or born either)
>>
>>43221287
In Robert's defence he did say he was so drunk he didn't know it was Stannis' marital bed. It's not like he cared about Stannis enough to lie about it to him.
>>
“Dontos you know I could simply order you to court the Lady Alexes, I am your Lord,” you respond meeting his gaze and he frowns.

“Well aware Brynden. Not that my brother did not try himself. Vamos was just as adamant of the thought as you nephew, not that it served him in the end,” he responds, watching Steely Pate finish up his work on your sword arm.

You sigh and wish to run your hand through your hair, though it is currently held in place, “Dontos, I told you about Ser Jon’s offer. He thought to marry a baseborn daughter… If the child is a girl, we have an easy alliance with them.”

“An insulting one perhaps, they are your allies in truth. If Ser Lucas is able to gain the hand of a third born daughter from the Reach, what makes you think in thirteen years time Ser Jon will not have gained a better offer?”

You sit in quiet again listening to the quiet pings of the smith in the background, “I’ll… Compromise with you Dontos.”

He frowns deeper and watches you carefully, he had hoped to win this by virtue of having an audience but even in the face of that you denied him such easy things, “If the child is a boy. I will wash my hands of it, even if he has my ears or hair. I will pay them, and perhaps leave a payment in the future for them to become a smith or something of worth. But they will go unrecognized.”
>>
“And a girl?”

“And if it is a girl… She will be recognized. But be raised in the Villa in King’s Landing. There is still worth there Uncle.”

“And you expect me to still court the Lady Alexes then? On chance?”

“Yes Dontos.”

“And of the mother?”

“We allow her to keep the child for a few years, no doubt we need even less scandel in our House’s name at present. What matters if we raise her properly from four rather than one?”

He seems unsure, and you fix him with as much gaze as you can muster, it felt wrong bargaining over an unborn child like this. Like it was some commodity, the worth deciding whether the nobles of the realm would play or not. It sat poorly in your stomach, but you needed to convince him of it.

Main reason for keeping the child in the manor.
If its a boy we settle him in our lands someplace. One of the more well defended villages perhaps, or get him raised by the same sept we are currently building.
>>
Wait, what, who agreed to the Villa in King's Landing? Wasn't that just one anon?
>>
>>43221558
I know right? Terrible idea. I wish we could just retcon that out.

We should make it clear to Dontos, we'll ALWAYS listen to him, but not always agree.

I'm telling you man, my typos, they'll be death of me.

I saw a fairer amount of support for it. Not to mention it absolutely has to happen if you guys want the child to be considered raised as a noble. And the compromise suggested at least she would be away from Steadhold.
>>
>>43221553
If it's a boy we hand over a pouch of silver and forget he exists. Absolutely no screwing around. Badly kept secrets are worse than openness.
>>
>>43221594

Maybe I just don't get the subtle distinctions of bastard scandals. I assumed raising them in the Villa in KL would show her off more to our neighbors then raising her in Steadhold away from general scrutiny.
>>
>>43221594
Fuck that, bring her to Steadhold. I wouldn't even have compromised with our uncle. Should've just said we build the Sept as ammends and won't do it again.
>>
>>43221601
Fair enough. But leaving her and the child in kings landing is a recipy for muder, so we could tell her to move away from kings landing with the child and set up life elsewhere.

I'm kind of surprised we didn't break out the full Intrigue rules.

Goddamn, it was said that Victus would make a better Lord than Brynden but I'm pretty sure he'd make a better knight than Dontos as well
>>
>>43221734
I like Dontos, his character flaws add to him, and you can see the family resemblance with Brynden despite being on the opposite side of the Law vs Chaos scale. Not everyone with Stannis's morals has Stannis's iron will.
>>
>>43221768
I agree. But we should atleast call him out on it
>>
Remember lads, we also took that girls maidenhood, I assume, so we've pretty much destroyed any good marriage prospects she might have had. Instead of marrying a Smith she'll be marrying some fat old man.
>>
>>43221734
Victus is a perfect angel too good for this wicked world. None of this black armor shit for him when he's older he DESERVES to be known as a White Knight

>>
>>43221594
By my count its basically balanced, and that's ignoring the fact that some of the support is ambiguous about whether it specifically supports that particular compromise plan or just compromise in general, as well as me knowing that two posts were me when you wouldn't have. Plus if he's concerned about insulting the longwaters isn't it more insulting to not even raise the bastard under our own roof but outsource it out? Barely even counts as raised properly.
