>Question of the day
Are there any cards from Sansan and before that you see getting Data Dealer Syndrome? That is, are there any old cards do you think will become (even) more useful as Mumbad unfolds?

Try "Why I run", great for prospective Runners looking for a hands-on demo on how Running works (replace the spaces by dots):
www nagnazul com/whyirun/whyirun.html

OP last updated on March 22nd, 2016.
>>
Updated the OP to incorporate the other Anon’s suggestions and points. I didn’t see much point in showing it until it was time for a new thread.

Changes and notes:

Strange Assembly removed.

Added the videocasts with the links that Anon provided. Much appreciated, kind stranger.

>>Ono-sendai might be dead, but after anon asked about it the last time I added back the link to its Github in case anybody wanted to build it for himself, or start a new one.
Github for Ono-sendai readded.

>>Nobody actually uses it. It got better but netrunnerdb, acoo and meteor are still better. But cardgamedb is actually the "official" deckbuilder with FFG behind it to support it, so I always left it there, even if it's only symbolic.
Good point. Cardgamedb put at the bottom of the list and marked not recommended.

>>Some anons were dead set on using Little Chiba back when the list was created.
Hm...this is tricky. I’ll leave it off for now, if anyone uses it and specifically asks for it to go back in the OP, then let’s add it.

>>Willingdone channel seems to be active in reddit. He posted a Kala Goda review a month ago. But seems like he's making Doomtown reviews too.
Good to know, just saw his stuff on Business First too. Left Willingdone alone.

OP too long by about 300 characters, split into two posts at Videocasts.

Part of me doesn’t want to add dead things unless it’s supported by FFG (cough, cardgamedb) or someone specifically asks for it to go onto the OP. I’ll leave Corp Draw off for now.

Tough to say, given that's the entire card pool, but looking at San San, nothing's really standing out except Tech Trader making Geist lodsofemone,

MCC might be a good Worlds Plaza candidate in a glacier deck - have the usual "scoring" server have Worlds with MCC and some other stuff - maybe Capital Investors? - and just score on a turn.

Oh, and Net Chips + Collective Conciousness + Faust being scary as fuck, for new cards making old cards good

I've been working on a Gagarin deck, based on one I saw here the other day and then modified, but it's pretty standard, seems pretty good most of the time, though I'm not sold on all of the ice - can I get some thoughts and feedback

Lakshmi Smartfabrics is really fun when you've got an extra copy of an agenda in hand and 1 or 2 pieces of unrezzed ice/assets.

Diversified Portfolio is a new, obvious, addition, it used to be Hedge Fund - on a bad whizzard-y day it won't help, but on a good day it's much better.

The only problems are if assets come piecemeal, or if you get topdecked before your R&D is properly secured - improving the defences for there would be the next step, though I'm not sure what the best way to do that is

This is probably the wrong time to ask, but does anyone know what Project Junebug is actually supposed to be? I couldn't even find the full-res art for it. Does Jinteki just load up failed clones in tubes and connect them to the net, waiting for unwary runners to break in and fry their brains when the subhuman minds lash out at them?

Huh, I thought I had Project Junebug's full art, but I was wrong.

I assume that, yes, they are grown bio-brains in giant tanks (check the size of the dude in the lab coat) for the purpose of luring in and killing the runner.

There's also the meta aspect, all the other "projects" are agendas, and all but Ares are 3/2's with over-advance effects. The Jinteki one, naturally, is not a "project", but their project looks exactly like one, to the runner.

Similar to Junebug, there's also The Brewery, which also has big vats of death
>>
>>46182624
Well, they're probably not "failed". Just a prototype of a sort.
>>
>>46183046
They don't look similar to each other, though, which suggests to me they're a weaponized lab accident of some sort.

I don't know.

One guy wanted to play a different deck when he saw Gagarin, but just quit when I asked what the problem was - it didn't help he used really broken English

The other guy ran maybe turn 1 or 2, I rezzed a Tour Guide, he just quit.

Once it gets going it can be a pain to stop though, especially if you're not Whizzard.

Got surprised by Demo Run + Siphon Leela today, Nerve Agent built up counters on the Siphon, then boom goes the hand
>>
>>46186474

You can run either R&D or HQ to trash. It's the fining defenses aspect I dig.

Power to the People for the laugh. I'd dig adding some Sneakdoor Beta. Would need to rework the influence package a bit, but nothing insurmountable.

Cute on that Leela/Demo Run bit. I really love that card, and am somewhat surprised not to see it more often.

It really needs multiaccess to work, and it's hardly the cheapest thing going, but trashing your opponent's hand is pretty great.

I've just noticed, both of these hand-destruction cards have awesome art

Leela still lost though, against >>46181694. Mongoose meant the tour guides weren't too bad, but the main source of income was siphons, and they were not aggressive enough in trashing my assets

Sneakdoor, that's a nice touch - yeah, having to defend all 3 centrals against a trash-happy anarch, that sounds like fun

Really going to depend on which build it get imported to.

In crim and Shaper, it can easily replace, say, the Scrubbers you imported freeing some influence, but making you need a bit more econ.

In his case, that means Americans

And if he truly cared about Americans he'd be just as anti-illegal-immigration as Trump. Illegal immigration only benefits the elite, who pocket more revenue off the depressed wages of the working class. Not to mention, due to reduced leverage of labor rights, the working class can be forced to take on even more duties and job requirements just to be employed. If not? You're fired.

So much this. One of the reasons I don't mind the 50+ restriction on MoH

Speaking of MoH, I've just realised that Gagarin/MCC decks like the one upthread are going to get thoroughly hosed by Councilfam and /pol/op shutting things down

A lot of asset decks are, really, but those using MCC will have agendas out in the open.

So Weyland get to be decent for one pack, thanks ffg (though Democracy & Dogma looks like it might be mainly Weyland and Crim)

>>
>>46200282
It is HB openingly saying they can replace clones with Bioroids so no "humans" need be hurt.
>>
No weyland ID ? I'm sad.
>>
All these "political" cards check for ice at the start of the turn.

As per this ruling (http://ancur.wikia.com/wiki/Underworld_Contact,_The_Supplier,_and_Dyson_Mem_Chip_Ruling) start of turn effects can be ordered so that things that become valid at the start of the turn fire if another start-of-turn effect makes them valid.

Thus picking up an OAI'd Curtain Wall in Blue Sun lets you bring OAI back to HQ with Clone Sufferage.
>>
>>46200027

>>
>>46200372
And then get the money from Commercial Bankers Group.
>>
So, Sensie Actors Union accelerates NBN's information, Bankers give Weyland a lovely flow of cash, but what is going on with Jinteki and HB's ones? I don't get the mechanics.

But I totally love the political assets. If you want them to work, the public needs to have free access to them, and Runner can easily ruin them.
>>
>>46200659
To specify, I don't get the flavor. Why would Association damage Runner or Movement return Operations?
It's easy to connect Actors and their support to information (and hiding it) and Bankers' Group to money making schemes, but what about Jinteki and HB?
>>
>>46200721
The political will to replace clones with bioroids is letting HB get away with more things?

Jinteki ... I got nothing.
>>
>>46200721
Net damage has never been particularly well explained, but in this case I'd say their control over bio-ethics associations is letting them send Neural EMP-like pulses of damage through the net.

Heh, multiple NEMPs and Bio-Ethics could kill a runner fairly easily if they're not careful.

And Bio-Ethics is great in Chronos Division
>>
>>46200721

Association feel like jinteki giving them the go-ahead to test out new theories without the usual repercussions. Win over the association and change the guidelines from within.

Movement is simple. Bioroids are not people unlike the clones, so why do you care we overwork them for our business operations.
>>
>>46200780
New laws limiting the use of some tech limits the options of the runner the can lead them to being unable to run anymore?
>>
>>46200721
For the Movement, as HB you're working against Jinteki, which gives you a boost - if they're not buying/renting from Jinteki, they're getting their androids from you, giving you more capital and flexibility

Still, like a fair few cards (say, Smartfabrics, Power to the People) it's a cool effect and reasonably cool flavour, they just don't really go together.

I love for Freedom through Equality and Clones are not People mirror each other. (Extra Agenda point with next agenda to the side that played it.)

Same could be said about Clone Suffogate Movement and Bio-Ethics Commitee. One trashes cards from hand, other adds cards to the hand. Though addmitedly it's a sretch.

My current runner list; posted last thread, but got buried by shitposts. Since then, I have since changed out the ProCos for Diesels, as someone in the last thread said they liked card draw more than creds for a stealth build, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Since I effectively have a 5th click, I've been considering running Kati for money as I could more easily spare a click to place 3 creds on her.

Looks pretty solid - if you had a little more money I'd say Dagger might be a better choice than Switchblade, due to stacking, but paying for tons of subs can start to suck.

Also, seeing as you have Artist Colony, don't forget that an instant-speed plascrete (either directly or through a second install) is the best plascrete

If hugely horizontal asset spam wasn't quite so strong - and with polyp and councilfam it soon shouldn't be - then protecting assets should make sense.

It's just that ice is swiss cheese at the moment - it's not worth spending time and money to protect things if protection doesn't actually work

I originally had Dagger in here, actually. I found that it was costing me too much to break things like Komainu. I don't find things like double Ichi servers very common, but I have also found that I can usually Street Peddle or FanColony a Ghost Runner midrun if I have to.

I have been running a Heritage Committee -> Mutate, HB: Stronger Together deck for a little bit.
It is kind of insane. I get low power Bioroids out for almost free and mutate them into insanely strong ones. I can use Bioroid Efficiency Research if I want to force a rez on a remote to trade it out for a better ICE.

I have had games where I have 3 Janus 1.0s on RnD.

The problem is more FFG's infestation of SJW culture. Anyone in their right mind knows to keep as far away from Leigh Alexander professionally and personally as you can.

I will see if I can track down a like for it tho, I deleted that shit with so much hate I don't even remember why I got it from. It was just page after page of SJW Cult propaganda that I thought I was not even sure it was real.

Her "big reveal" that the abused girl from the start is Jackson Howard who has a sex change in infiltrate NBN so they can get access to children was just vile.

Floyd in Free-Fall. I know the book was written in 2011 but even then this kind of entry-level navel-gazing was passe. They even have an excruciating bit where he re-invents Pascal's Wager. I started reading this because I was interested in Android's bioroids, how they thought and experienced the world, what brain-taping was supposed to be and how human they were. But this is nearly gibberish.

>>46207316
What? I don't believe that, no SJW would ever write in a trans character just to have them revealed to be a child predator. That's more like anti-SJW propaganda.

>>46207843
Okay, so it's just unfounded rumours? Thank god.
>>
>>46209239
Yeah, that was just shitposting

For what it's worth, I dimly recall from looking at netrunner articles when I was just getting into the game that Alexander, for all her many, many flaws, does like both the game and the lore, even if she does see Jackson as essentially a toymaker whose designs are being used for evil - something that mostly matches up with the lore in the D&D flavour insert.

Yeah Free Fall is not really a book worth actually paying for, though I hear it may be one of the better of the android novels so far.

It does give an okay intro to the universe though, and Floyd's weak introspection is only a very small part

I knew that - there's a reason it's "Starport Kaguya", named after a Japanese goddess, and they have a big community there apparently

But China is still around - there's Chinese orgcrime mentioned (Tri-Maf, "dong ma" is mandarin for "understand", in the same way as "capische"), and in Weyland's fluff piece in the rulebook they're mentioned as being one of the governments they get contracts from (they're also mentioned as dealing with "repressive Mediterranean regimes", to give an example of places that haven't got better/have deteriorated).

>I'm expected to buy
Not at all.

For ultimate optimized deckbuilding, yes, 3 core will mean you have 3 of every card in the game.

This is not necessary most of the time

Cards that are 1x in core set (Need 2 more to complete set):
Corporate Troubleshooter
Zaibatsu Loyalty
SanSan City Grid
Security Subcontract
Grimoire
Ice Carver
Desperado
Data Dealer
The Toolbox
Aesop's Pawnshop
Akitaro Watanabe

Cards that are 2x in core set (Need 1 more to complete set):
Aggressive Secretary
Heimdall 1.0
Rototurret
Viktor 1.0
Archived Memories
Shipment from MirrorMorph
Experiential Data
Cell Portal
Chum
Data Mine
Neural EMP
Precognition
Astroscript Pilot Program
Breaking News
Anonymous Tip
Closed Accounts
Psychographics
SEA Source
Red Herrings
Posted Bounty
Archer
Hadrian's Wall
Aggressive Negotiation
Scorched Earth
Shipment from Kaguya
Research Station
Melange Mining Corp.
Hunter
Corroder
Datasucker
Djinn
Medium
Mimic
Wyrm
Yog.0
WyldSide
Account Siphon
Lemuria Codecracker
Aurora
Femme Fatale
Ninja
Sneakdoor Beta
Bank Job
Crash Space
Decoy
Modded
Akamatsu Mem Chip
Rabbit Hole
The Personal Touch
Battering Ram
Magnum Opus
Net Shield
Pipeline
Sacrificial Construct

1 core is fine for starting out.
2 will get you almost every card that matters
3 is only for completionists - San San and Desperado are the only 1-ofs people really care that much about, are mostly fine as 2-ofs, and it's worth remembering that people sell singles occasionally - if you have a strategy that absolutely needs one of the few 1-of cards
>>
>>46211110
I see. I've had the original core set around for ages gathering dust because all of the decks just don't have enough cards to be played without fiddling about so a second core set is all I'll need (unlike Game of Thrones which is basically mandatory) Then I can expand from there if I get into it.

Cheers.

Well, if you're not playing competitively I suggest to leave the second core set for later and gather some deluxe boxes first. They expand the capabilities available for the factions and give you new ways to play the game while staying truthful to their colour pie.

For example, Jinteki core got the short end of the stick, without enough economy to pay all their expensive ICE and ambushes, and with neutral agendas that take away both the surprise of the rezzing (Priority Requisition) and need tags to work (Private Security Force). The faction truly didn't take off until its deluxe, Honor and Profit, where several ambushes and ICE make it really scary to facecheck (punished by losing your whole grip), and they got the economy they needed and some of the best agendas for their faction.
>>
>>46213523
But a second core lets you keep multiple decks together at a time.
>>
>>46200056

So, with IG looking amazing right now, and Museum/Clone Suffrage making archives hugely temporary, is it finally time for pic related, the least loved of all the interfaces, to come to the fore?

While Crick will remain annoying (but hey, David and Spooned) flat out removing cards over trashing them now seems like it might be necessary
>>
>>46220544

I can see it working with Desperado and Datasucker (and naturally as follows, Atman and Parasite) but you'd have to integrate a suite around it to make the runs worth it. Stuff like Dirty Laundry, too. Sneakdoor Beta might be a good idea for those non-IG matchups you'll inevitably run into.
>>
>>46220570
Yeah, it's a good responsive tool, but as an aggressive tool it's not that great.

Still, I think it's good that it's likely to finally see play
