so what do you look like jumpers?
>>
>>46185358
How do you propose becoming undead? What do your undead sustain themselves on?
Because there's no such thing as a free lunch. Eternal life has a cost, and with undeath that cost is usually paid by someone else. Unwillingly.

>>46185390
I'd offer to turn him back human and give him a power boost equal to what being a vampire gave him.
I can't really imagine anyone not accepting that without a more sinister motive, so if he refused i'd be suspicious as hell and find out what that motive is.
And then probably kill him. With fire.

>>46185430
Then you ripped a soul out of its deserved afterlife and enslaved it.
I'd free it and kill you, but it wouldn't have anything to do with my hatred of undead.

Clerics and such, yeah. For Psionics, there seems to be some sort of distinction between it and magic that might cause Sorcerer Savant to not work, but I'm not an expert on D&D Psionics.

Demon's Souls:

Beyond the Fog
30 years old
Magician 100
Soul Gathering
Inner Self 700
Heightened Capacity
Acolyte's Knowledge 850
Sage 1150
Magician Gear
Sticky White Stuff 1200
Ring of Avarice 1600
Cursed Mark 1300
Black Phantom Party 1000

Went magician as it's general magic boosts. A magic gets boosted by intelligence perk which is pretty powerful and a 'turn souls into spells' thing.

Also imbue people with the souls of monsters and stuff. Useful for monster people I guess with enough other stuff to make them not overly monstrous. Probably going to want to slot this before Monster Hunter.

Sticky White Stuff was a leftover 50 CP. Plus you put it on weapons and it makes them shiny or something.

Ring of Avarice gets me more souls which works well with the two 'turn souls into stuff' things.

Cursed Mark because when in Demon's Souls might as well be the best gosh darned demon you can be. Appreciate this doesn't actually make you a demon but I figure I'm gonna be a Darkness from Legend type. Super friendly though.

Black Phantom Party means a lot of things trying to kill me.

All in all the plan is to try to hold back the darkness well enough while being a big demoniacal looking bastard in whatever little untainted backwater I start in.

Lawful Chaotic, with a little Evil Good thrown in for good measure.

>>46186022
Yep. Impossible to really pin down an alignment as a result. Usually try to be on the Neutral/Good side of things but it sometimes doesn't work out like that.

Could say Chaotic Neutral but it'd sort of be a cop out given how much time I've spent doing Lawful, Good and Evil stuff.

Alignment would be on a whole different table and would probably be Flighty Erratic or something. Opposite corner of the table would be Responsible Consistent.
>>
>>46186022
I actually think i fall on the neutral good alignment for some jumps other jumps straight lawful chaotic.
>>
>>46185726
I looks like myself, minus the glasses and about 20 lbs. I'm an utterly charisma machine when I open my mouth, but to look at, not so much.

>>46186022
If I had to pin myself down to an alignment, it would mostly be Neutral Good. I try to help people and better the world around me as much as I can. It sometimes shifts down to Chaotic Good when the Jump demands for a more violent approach to good deeds. Alice in Wonderland and Invader Zim were definitely Chaotic Neutral Jumps though. I kind of embraced the madness that was the setting in those.

As a side note, I don't really put too much stock in the whole alignment system. The worlds are all shades of grey with occasional pockets of pure white and black in them, but most of the time my decisions are shades of grey.
>>
>>46186022
Light-Neutral to Dark-Neutral, depending on how idealistic the setting I'm in is.
>>
>>46186586
That you weren't outright evil in Invader Zim is incredible considering that aside from Dib everyone is evil and/or stupid.
>>
>>46186022
Chaotic Ham!
>>
>>46186022
Chaotic Fangirl or Neutral Drawback depending on the characters and options available in the jump.
>>
>>46186682
I only wasn't evil because I wasn't taking things seriously in the slightest. I danced the grey line between Dib and Zim as an Irkin Defective who was sent to Earth as part of Operation Impending Doom 1 and was then forgotten about. I teased and foiled both of them mainly for giggles until Tak came on the scene.

I sided with her, much to the dismay of my Companions, but I did as much to foil her schemes as Dib and Zim did once they partnered up. The dance was entertaining, almost like a less insane version of the Batman/Joker dynamic. I was also grooming some of the rough edges off of Tak because I wanted to recruit her. Which I did. Not all of them though. That driven, efficient attitude of hers is what I like about her.
>>
>>46186022
Neutral Green. Objectively more moral than orange.
>>
>>46186813
Hey, speaking of Tak, did you ever decide which persona she would get? I'm actually kind of curious how she'd react to that world, especially since you also took Strange Journey.

Of course, I usually only do it to shitty people, and under the pretense if redeeming them, so who knows.

I usually look like a muscly dragon man of about 12-16 feet. Other times I'm a planetary elder horror in draconic shape. But lately I've been taking a liking to the look of a 4 foot fluffy lizardbold. Otherwise I change forms depending on the setting.

>>46186022
Good, or silly villain with a heart of gold. I can't really bring myself to be a real bad guy.
>>
>>46186898
I ended up going with the Fortune Arcana after researching all of them. The line about individuals of this Arcana attempting to seize their own destiny in spite of fate was what sold me. It's exactly what she was doing the first time we see her in the series, so it fit too well.

I'm regretting taking the Strange Journey drawback now, because we're going to miss the chance to take part in any of the story lines of the games, which from everything that was discussed before would make for better writing. Especially Persona 4's events. Running through the minds of my Companions would be /insane/ for writing fun.

Strange Journey seems like it's going to boil down to, "No time to think, murder everything but that one guy we need to put on the throne of creation so we have time to murder more of the everything."

So, what good/interesting things can I get in the Final Fantasy Jumps? How strong is this verse?
>>
>>46187048
Oh, you would have missed the storylines of the games anyway. The jump drops you off in 2014. Persona 4 is 2011, Persona 5 (when it comes out) is going to be 2016. The jump only lasts a year without taking Strange Journey, so you're not going to take part in those plots.
>>
>>46185726
Depending on your perspective, either pic related with cosmogone shades and Neathbow Dyed Streaks in my hair, like a Brass and Amber Type Mercury/ORT, or a Bright Star inside Cosmogenesis while I work on building a Dawn Machine based device into the Type Body to hold said Sun-Soul.
>>46186022
I'm usually neutral good, occasionally dipping into chaotic neutral territory if I'm feeling particularly lazy or stressed, and sometimes I pretend to be a villain to get the protagonists to improve.
>>
>>46187099
>>46187124
*tosses my hands in the air* Well then I dislike everything about this Jump. The only reason I do half the Jumps I do is to take part/muck around in the story lines.
>>
>>46187121
>How strong is this verse?
Depends on the game, but the final boss is usually some kinda god or wannabe that can destroy the world.
>>
>>46187142
Well, you still are: you have become the main protagonist of THREE different games.
>>
>>46187121
Pretty strong.
You can get a lot of good stuff (and a load of companions) if you go through the scenarios, especially in the later games and FFXIV, IIRC.
>>
>>46186022
If the world will sort itself out without my help I tend to go true neutral shopkeeper. As long as you buy my wares and don't interfere with my business I'll sell to anyone who's got the cash. If the world does need my help Chaotic Good.
>>
>>46187167
It's just disappointing to know that I'm not able to take part in the two Persona stories I know well.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, there are other Atlus jumps coming out that you might like. One Anon is working on an SMT 1-2 jump, Devil Survivor is out with the second one on the way, some other Anon volunteered for the actual Strange Journey, and the Digital Devil Saga is next on my list. There will be plenty of jumps for you to get that story mucking thrill!

SMT 1-2 were two of the first games in the series, before Persona 1 even, and were pretty good for the time: The first part of 1 takes place in Japan during a civil war/American peacekeeping, before Thor starts World War 3 under YHVH's orders. Part 2 takes place during the war between the Messians, God's servants, and the Gaians, Lucifer's servants, with the final battle between the protagonist and the two factions taking place in God's Cathedral/Throne. The second game is cyberpunk, where the main characters are genetically engineered messiahs, and following a long series of events climaxes with a final battle with God aboard the Megido Arc, his Death Star equivalent. Should I explain the others as well?

This is what Persona was supposed to be remembered as. And look at where we are now.

None of them have a dating simulator built in, no. Except for Devil Survivor, but that's debatable.

That said, all of them follow roughly the same gameplay template, so almost all of them aged pretty well. Especially outliers like Etrian Odyssey-esque Strange Journey.

Try starting with SMT 3: Nocturne. It is considered to be one of the best introductions to the series.

Speaking of which. I might as well get feedback on the Capstone Booster stuff before I get attached to it.

I also buffed the Demon Capstone but... it's a really janky buff, so I might roll it back and try to think of something else.

...I also forgot to make a Capstone Booster effect for it. Gah.

There's a few more Demon Races, too.

>>46187799
Devil Survivor 2 is up there with the mainline in terms of power level, but yes for the rest. Nocturne demonstrates how powerful YHVH is by revealing he is destroying millions of universe constantly over time in order to find a way to eradicate free will forever, and the canon ending is the destruction of the entire SMT multiverse, temporarily at least.
>>
>>46187792
>>None of them have....
The dating simulator isn't actually a portion of the game I consider entertaining. I was more interested in the various characters developing than I was the pain of having to juggle things just so.

That said, I will give Nocturne a try on my emulator.

>>46187835
I was not actually aware of that. I must have missed him saying that, which can easily happen. I suppose if that's the case I'll put the Persona Jump on hold and go somewhere else. To the Dice Roller!!
>>
>>46187799
Technically, every, EVERY single game of the franchise deals with the end of the world in some fashion.

Devil Survivor 1, well, you already know. 2 has the world get... Ahem, erased. Just, gone.

Strange Journey has the gradual corruption of the whole planet.

SMT 3 has the world end as the beginning of the game. 'Nuff said.

SMT 4 has... Well... Everything. Black holes, fiery chaos, genocide, you name it.

Neutral Hungry.
>>
>>46187976
SMT games tend to be VERY low on party characterization, given that your entire party is made up of a silent protagonist and interchangeable demons.
>>
>>46187799

I can't say anything about the others, but Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne (a.k.a. SMT 3) is one of those setting where you probably can't avoid the danger of the plotline.

The game starts with the world being destroyed to the point where the only thing survivors were a hand full of people in a specific hospital, and all that's left is Tokyo on the inside of a sphere and a hand full of survivors in a specific hospital.

The survivors then have to basically compete in a demon filled waste land to see who has the right to decide the laws/theme of the next world.

Meanwhile Lucifer is plotting to turn the main character into a super soldier so they can destroy the multiverse and lead the armies of darkness/chaos into the final battle against God.

Basically at minimum you have two end of the world events, and at worse you have the multiverse being destroyed.

At least if your in the vortex world (the term for a world between destruction and recreation) of the game instead of the billions of other ones.
>>
>>46188043
I'd expect neither. Almost all supernatural creatures are fundamentally the same species without any inherent alignment. You can have Law-aligned "demons" and Chaos-aligned "angels". I think the best way to treat them would be to have them affected by perks that affect spirits in general rather than specific types of spirit.
>>
>>46188111
Yeah, if 3 isn't an End Jump (or doesn't include an End Jump option) I'll be super disappointed.
>>
>>46188051
Not necessarily: Keep in mind Aleph and Demi-Fiend are facing ONE aspect of YHVH. True, Demi-Fiend destroyed every last version of Kagatsuchi, but still only one. Abel, on the other hand, is facing ALL of the aspects, given how Naoya says "Worlds", meaning Abel is going to other universes. Aleph is probably stronger than Demi-Fiend though, given that he fought and defeated YHVH himself.

I barely celebrate holidays, though I did go full bore for awhile during Franken Fran and Van Helsing. I ended up raising my kid there, and it feels like holidays are something a kid needs. Halloween was great, because I got to make the best costumes and using portamancy and physiomancy we could triick or treat for 24 hours straight, stopping for meals, or course. I'm also a Santa Claus someitmes, but Christmas is generally spent away from actual celebrations.

My companions are less ambivalent to the date. The Sisters of Battle are truly devious at hiding eggs, Ko'el has adopted some earth traditional holidays into the LoT because they use earth holidays, Falco actually remembers Walpurgisnacht, Chimmy loves Christmas and does his best to surprise people with presents.

And Valentine's Day is super awkward.

To be fair it's kind of hard to say who would do better.

Aleph killed YHVH but it was temporary, and they might have been reincarnated into the guy cursed eternally for committing the ultimate sin.

The Demi-Fiend in the true demon ending destroys the cycle of creation and destruction that allow worlds to form so the final battle can occur, but the game ends with an omnious comment and no clue one how that battle would have gone.

Meanwhile Abel has the power of an entity that ruled the world before YHVH, but is probably still building up his power.

Although the fact that YHVH still exist implies that the true demon ending didn't occur 'yet', or that Lucifer's plan to break the multiverse to kill it failed.

>>46188360
When you get a demon from another universe, they themselves stay normal, but you also gain a copy that's mindless and is subjected to the summoning limit.

Does it read otherwise, or am I misunderstanding your question?

>>
>>46188461
Me personally, I think this is what happened: Aleph killed YHVH, which knocked out the Great Will for a bit and forced it to rely on the other avatars, like Kagatsuchi. The Demi-Fiend destroyed that forever, which rendered it vulnerable, allowing Mem Aleph to try her plan in Strange Journey. She failed, and the Great Will came roaring back to life, quickly taking back the Earth, as seen in SMT IV. Bel was one of the original gods, possibly Mem Aleph's male counterpart. This all started because of Devil Survivor 2: YHVH was once Administrator Errai, but when the team broke down the Heavenly Throne, and distributed the Administrator Authority to the humans(Explaining their faith makes it real power) he tried to hijack it for his own plans. This backfired, as while it made him powerful, it caused him to sincerely believe he was God.

Pillar Choir is based on the Panic Voice, Bind Voice, Lullaby, and Joy Song skills.

Primordial Might is based on kind of nothing. I needed something for Drop-Ins to not get murdered or be forced to buy the Capstone Booster, so I made a physical enhancement thing based on Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV cutting a transforming mecha battleship to bits with a sword and Awake Jimenez ripping open a sci-fi military transport and attached it to the Almighty element. Oh yeah, the actual attacks are based on the abilities Demi-Fiend can get from the Kailash Magatama.

The Capstone Booster version of Primordial Might is based on Noah from Nocturne.

>You also might be noticing a couple of other marks on different perks. As you can probably guess, free means you can get it for free, but you can also turn it down if you don't want it. Discounted means it's still going to cost you, but only half as much as it would have. Finally, there's Innate. It's like free, but you don't get to say no, and you can't buy it either. It either comes with the background, or not at all. Make sense? Good. Let's get to the fun part.
>Finally, there's Innate. It's like free, but you don't get to say no, and you can't buy it either.

Assuming it's not one of those retarded trick questions that expect you to deliberately choose wrong for no reason other than because, yes.

If you choose otherwise, you're either in a state of mind that is unable to truthfully answer anything, or fucking stupid.

Well, I guess you can already be happy or (rightfully) distrust whoever is offering this to you, in which case good for you. But I've got a very specific and negative view on happiness that ignores the fact that in some of the worlds I've gone to, happiness is an actual thing you can achieve rather than a purely temporary feeling that is near-impossible to maintain for extended periods of time, and this is a hypothetical so why the hell not.

I might have to end up doing something like this. But I'm not sure how that'll work with the emotion part.

... I guess what's gonna happen is I'm gonna end up looking like Harle from Chrono Cross, or worse, and then the ridiculous clown makeup will cause me to be all weird and harlequin-esque.

Which is going to be interesting, since of course I'm going to end up going Villain (ironically not for the capstone, but for every other perk on that line).

>>46191570
On an unrelated and completely out of left field note:
One of my projects was to figure out the line of sapience as it relates to jumpchain -- like, what does the benefactor consider sapience specifically? -- and then create the most intelligent AI possible without crossing that line, and then put them in the warehouse to act as a guardian.

... I just kindof mention this, because when I think of what I want that creation to look like, I always sortof imagine it as looking similar to that picture.
So that's NEAT. And also you have good taste.

>>46192117

>>
>>46192161
Arrancar are basically Shinigami with hollow powers.

Shinigami outclass them now, but that's due to the ancient badasses coming out to play.

Like the other Anon said, Quincy are mad overpowered now, but the type of Quincy you can become in the jump doesn't get all the ridiculous shit they got unless you swear fealty to Yhwach the Almighty and join his army. That's a terrible idea, by the way.

>>46192233

It is not. Arrancar's are generally on par with Shinigami. The reason it costs more is because the guy who made the Bleach jump is really bad at making jumps. But we're stuck with all the terrible work he put out, because trying to replace it isn't worth the precedent it would set.
>>
>>46192259
Go Soulreaper. Arrancar are locked in potential, they can't get stronger. What we know of Soulreapers now shows they can get stronger.

The Rakshasa. 1000 CP, which seems like a lot, but it comes with 7 levels of Sorcerer pre-bundled along with some pretty awesome Hit Dice, massive spell resistance (I'm not kidding, it's almost spell immunity if you're battling anything close to your own power level), shape changing, and low-level mind reading.

I was tempted to go dragon though. Very tempted. But I had to afford Companion Imports, so there it is. They scattered a bit. Half-Dragons, Half-Celestials, Half-Rakshasa, Doppleganger, even one standard Elf. I wasn't suicidal enough to take a second Elder Evil to give them more points.

So in Mushoku Tensei, does being a Supard come with any problems other than people hating that form?

...Yeah, that's the biggest thing I've been worried about. I can't really think of any Perks to give to them at this point.

The two big things I've been thinking about are easing the restrictions on Protection of the Count and making it 400 CP again, or making the additional Races from Demonic Union free if they cost less than your first choice.
>>
>>46187899
So if I read this right demons don't get a capstone and the booster doesn't apply to them? Is that right?

>>
>>46192541
The last village of your people will come down with a virus with no cure unless plot is on the rails (you didn't go hog wild on CP right~?), people see your race as starfish hitler, chances of nookie are extremely low outside of your near extinct race unless you go bald, and you now have an always on magic radar in a world where magic is in everything.

No clue on demon seed. Could be MC's finalized mana pool or something under/over(?) that.
>>
>>46192568
That... is an absolutely butt ton of power. Spell-like abilities out the wazoo, 20 levels of cleric built in, perfect saves and base attack bonus, Freaking Permanency 3 times a day, spell resistance few things can punch through without specialized training, immunity to two elements (acid and cold, common ones too), AND Regeneration 15 on top of a Damage Reduction that can only be punched through by EPIC and evil?

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. That's a wise choice my friend. But considering what you're going to have to face to get it, you might be regretting that really quickly.

Still, if you want to argue pure CP efficiency, it's a great buy for the points. 20 levels of cleric would cost you 2000 CP, so an extra 300 for all the perks? Hell yes. Excellent power grab.
>>
>>46192568
You get the equivalent of twenty levels of cleric casting (worth like 1900 by itself I think?), as well as permanent true seeing and free 1/day wish (and a host of other at will/daily powers). I'd say it is, if you're of a mind to spend that much in the first place.
>>
>>46192620

Tome Dragon.

They have opposable thumbs, get bonuses to metamagic (including instant application and free levels casting; meaning they're the only spontaneous casters who can use Quicken Spell, and can do so with no level increase to the spell), all divination and conjuration spells added to their spell list for free, Knowledge Domain spells, and they're FLUFFY.
So it was really a no brainer.

It's a pity they lose out on being able to cast cleric spells in exchange for the metamagic/known spells.

Xavier's the least of your worries in Marvel. You'd also have to deal with Loki, Odin, Galactus, Dormammu, and about another hundred thousand other beings on tehir level. Best to stay away from their and DC.

>have to take max CP drawbacks
You are not gonna have a fun time. Good luck fighting off gods, invincible enemies, overpowered protagonists and entire galaxies. Not to mention having to deal with memory loss or crippling disabilities/aliments.

>must always take drop-in
Not only are you screwing yourself out of some discounts but memories and history with the people of each new jump is very useful.

>if a companion dies they're gone for good
Ouch. Best keep them away from situations where they could be betrayed or hit by a surprise attack.

>can only have three companions TOTAL (so my starter pokemon and two others, cannot swap them out without abandoning old companions)
Not too many problems with this besides just having less backup.

The stuff talking about levels is just to make the whole "get more powerful by fighting" thing clear.

The Seraphs ARE the Heralds. Most games after SMT1 refer to them as Heralds since Seraph is an actual separate type of angel, while the big four are just extremely powerful archangels. I decided to call them Heralds for the sake of making research easier for others, and in case someone makes a jump for one of the games where Seraphim are a separate type of demon.

They take orders directly from YHVH and pass it along to basically everyone. The Messiah might nominally be above you, but you're one of the people running things in the end. Until the big guy actually comes down to Earth, anyway.
>>
>>46192735

Ooh, neat. Uh. What's the Ultimate Magus from? I've never actually heard of it.
Yes. Yes they do.

>>46193036
Yeah, that's kindof lame. But, then again, it's not like there aren't a lot of other jumps with the D&D ruleset.
I was a cleric in Ravenloft, a Druid in Dark Sun (wow, I sure like Hard Mode, huh), so technically I CAN cast those spells... just not spontaneously.

Besides, I really dig the idea of being able to cast a Summon Monster IX by snapping my fingers.
Combine that with various outside setting abilities to teleport and run away and I can SO do the villainous "drop some enemies on you and escape" bit. It's so cool.
>>
>>46193201
>>46193236
Well, in this case nobody would be changing anyone's anything... we would just scrap it altogether. No rules against THAT.

Just to jump on this to help clarify things a little about Shin Megami Tensei in general, the Judeochristan/Islamic angels are separated into two Races, Divines and Heralds.

Divines are about RANKS of angels, like Archangels, Principalities, Powers, Thrones, that type of stuff, they're not any one specific angel.

Heralds are specifically named/high ranking angels from those religions like Uriel/Raphael (pictured, SMT4 varaiation of the design) /Gabriel/Michael, though in later games they do include Israfel, Victor, Lalah, and others

>>What's the Ultimate Magus from?
It's from the Complete Arcane book for 3.5. Most people overlook it because it's a Prestige class that requires levels in both Sorcerer and Wizard. You miss out on the higher levels spells, but you gain the ability to apply Metamagic feats to a spell on the fly.

It works like this.

I want to cast Maximized Magic Missile (Because I can). I cast it like normal from my sorcerer list, then give up a 3rd level spell (because Maximized normally adds 3 to the spell's level adjustment) to tack on Maximize for free.

I actually got to play this in a game because the DM didn't realize just what I could do with this. Combine this with a variety of Metamagic Rods and you've got minor insanity like Twinned Maximized Repeat Fireball with Sudden Empowered tossed in for good measure.

You could almost see my DM's heart breaking when I told him the damage was Sonic and thus, his final boss was not immune to it in the slightest.
>>
>>46193493
Nothing. That's THE fighter plane jump. Nowhere else has any kind of focus on them other than Strike Witches, and in that jump you are the plane and also a little girl.
>>
>>46193452
Do space fighters count? If they do, I'd say R-Type.

>"Simply magnificent, isn't he? or she, perhaps. I do dimly recall something about vessels always bearing the female honorific."

>You turn, and you find yourself confronted with an older man. Gentleman you find yourself thinking. The figure scurries across the room, hand outstretched and you instantly realise the man is such a walking cliche you don't even need to think about it to know he will be some sort of eccentric rich upper class genius.

>You shake the offered hand, and the man winces quite comically before visibly realising something.

>"I say, should you perhaps wish to have an adventure? I find myself in something of a quandary you see. I rather suspect that based on my latest conclusions, piloting the Iron Mole at depth may require more physical strength than I possess, and you do seem a rather sturdy sort."

>If you are asking my to accompany you on a journey to some dark underground in a steam-powered tunneling machine, I feel I should warn you now: I have never been more erect in my entire life.

Technically you can just make up gibberish words, but most people in-setting use a butchered form of a language they don't speak, because if you use a language you speak, there's both a chance of accidentally using your magic and it's a thinner insulation, so it's easier for the magic to backfire and damage your mind.
