SITUATION: http://pastebin.com/ziMsX6th
MECHANICS: http://pastebin.com/49M2eE8Z

“Alright, everything ready?” you ask. Everyone sleepily stands by the tank, holding their camping bags, ready to be mounted in the truck. “… come on guys, show some life.” They all nod, grumbling a little at having been woken up at 4 in the morning to get ready to get out for the day. You have to beat the morning traffic to the field, you have to shower, get changed into your new uniforms, the works. “Stack.” Stack looks at you, one eye open all the way, the other shut entirely. “Wear your uniform properly. You too, Winona.”

“Aw come on!” Winona whines.

“Nothing doing,” you say. “We want to look presentable. This is our first match of the tournament, and our first time being broadcasted live in front of millions of people!” Josephina slowly retreats into her coat, her eyes barely poking above the collar. “How are you going to look if you’re showing off like that!?”

Ingrid looks down at Stack’s chest. “It’s not like she has anything to show off.”

Stack glares at Ingrid. “I don’t like being bullied.”

You sigh. It seems Griselda isn’t here either. 5:30 in the morning. You’ve already got breakfast out of the way, you’ve already changed, you’ve already showered, you’ve already reviewed your notes on Kursk’s lineup and… You squint at Winona’ chest, and find it jiggling a little. You place your hands on your hips. “Winona.”

She looks up at you. “Hm?”

“Why is Cuddles in your shirt?” you ask. Cuddles slowly slithers up Winona’s neck as if nothing is wrong. Josephina yelps a little, surprised by it.

“Oh.” Winona yawns a bit. “He must’ve gotten out of his terrarium again.”

“We can’t go back to the dorm!” You check your watch. “That’ll take another half hour!”

“It’s fine!” says Winona. “Come on, he won’t bite!” Cuddles flicks his tongue against Winona’s skin, and she giggles a little. “Heehee!”

Hey Schteel! This is the first thread of the new quest I've caught live, I just wanted to say I'm pretty enjoying it so far.
I also wanted to know if you could give us a full list of the NATO team's tanks, their specific marks, and any markings or emblems or whatever. I'm working on a thing.

Funny that you say that, I worked on Kursk's and Robert A. Heinlein's sigils last night. Give me until the end of the thread perhaps.

Also, while I can give you a list of all of the tanks later, this is subject to change as the Quest goes on.
>>
> “No. Find a place for him to stay in ten minutes. He’s not coming.”

“No.” Winona frowns heavily, looking at Cuddles. “We can’t have obvious safety hazards like that? What if someone sits on him or if he crawls up into someone’s skirt? Find a place for him to stay in the next ten minutes.”

“Awww…” Winona curls her lip, then gently kisses on Cuddles on the nose. “Sowwy, Cuddles. You can’t come with us.”

> - 10 MORALE TO WINONA

Winona steps to the side, pulling out her phone and calling up Abigail’s Panzer Pets to come and pick up her pet ball python. 5:30 in the morning is a bit much, but you’d rather not risk it. You don’t want to be the girl that has a snake crawl up her leg and have a panicky episode about it.

Griselda drives in with her Dodge truck, with a trailer being towed carrying the rest of the crews. Everyone dismounts, yawning tiredly and stumbling over towards their tanks. Griselda comes over to you, giving you a mug of coffee. You hand it back, you’re not tired. She looks at it, confused, then hands it to Luisa Pena, who already has a mug of coffee. She shrugs then sips on both. “So, you all ready?” she asks.

“As we’ll ever be.” You hand Griselda a notebook. “Here’s my notes on Kursk’s lineup, their potential choices of tanks. I imagine if they are going to match us in numbers, they won’t bring too many casemate tanks, they might bring out the new T-34s and that KV-1 perhaps.”

“Oh. Thorough.” Griselda smirks. “Nice work.” She yawns loudly, then she receives a phone call. “Oh, it’s my sister. She wants to FaceTime. You wanna talk with her?”

“Sure,” you say. Griselda smiles, then accepts the call. The two of you look to see Gertrude laying in bed, right next to Kitten and another girl. “Hey, Gertruuuuu…” Wow, Gertrude uh… she’s pretty attractive when she’s half awake. “…ude.”

“Hey, Ellie. Hey, Griselda.” Gertrude smiles. “Just wanted to say hi from me and Kitten here.” Kitten nods, waving hello.

Griselda squints. “Who’s the other girl?”

Gertrude blinks, then looks to her right. Kitten as well looks confusedly at her. “… who are you?” asks Gertrude.

The girl glances around, a huge blush on her face. “W- well, you… you invited me in.”

“… okay, you can stay,” says Gertrude. The girl smiles, immediately cuddling up against Gertrude. “Listen, Griselda. I’ll be sure to watch your match later on over lunch. Hope you give Kursk a good fight. Tell Oryola I said hi, okay?”

Griselda nods. “I will, thanks! You too, Kitten!”

Kitten smiles. “Kick their asses for me.”

“Go and win!” says the random girl in Gertrude’s bed.

“Bye now!” Gertrude and company wave goodbye to you, then end the call. Griselda pockets her phone and smiles at you.

“She’s a charmer,” you say.

“I like to think I am too!” Griselda points a pair of finger guns at you. “Bang, bang!” Nothing but blanks, Griselda, sorry. She frowns a little when it doesn’t seem you’re impressed by it. “… well, go ahead and attend to your crew. And uh-“ She holds up a finger. “One more thing. Just so you know, we’re trying to win here. I know we might drop the match because of how uh…” You all look at the crews, whom are busy falling asleep at the wheel and in the hatches. “… inexperienced we are.”

“You want me to try my best,” you say.

“Please?” she asks.

“I will,” you say. She grins happily.

And with that, you climb up into your tank. Ingrid and Winona have already fallen asleep at their seats. While Josephina warms herself to a cup of a coffee, you settle into the commander’s chair. It’s already feeling quite warm, even with the engine not running. You switch on the internal lights, then steel yourself. Okay, okay. This is just like any other exam or test. Just do your best. “Josephina.” She looks back from the driver’s seat. “Start up the engine.” She nods, switching the engine on. The rumbling roar wakes Ingrid and Winona up.

Alright. Now what?

Poles, not rushing with the tank, you have a big gun use it,

Patton you have binoculars, use them!

“Alright, everybody, listen up.” They all turn back to you, attentive. “I am going to give you a rousing speech.”

“Well?” asks Stack.

“I’m getting to it,” you say. Ah fuck, you don’t know how to give speeches! How did you do that one thing with the Naval Studies students back during the first day!? Um, you can’t rip off any movie speeches, they’ll figure it out. “Er.” They continue to look at you, attentive. You cough, clearing your throat. “Let’s do our best.”

“That’s it?” asks Ingrid.

“I’m sorry,” you say. “But… yeah, that’s it.”

Winona smiles, patting you on the thigh. You inch your leg away from her, indignant. “Well, I think it’s enough. Let’s get rolling, Josephina!” She nods, putting up the hatch and poking her head out. Your tank is the first to leave the hangar into the dark morning and onwards to victory. You all poke your heads out, with Winona sharing the commander’s hatch with you.

But as you go outside, you see it’s not just dark outside. Something is casting a shadow on LGA. You all look to the right, and gasp at the size of Kursk Girls Boarding School as it lumbers itself into harbor.

“So,” asks Ingrid. “Anybody know how big Kursk is?”

“I hear it’s the reason the Soviet Union fell,” says Stack.

Yeah. Being even bigger than Robert A. Heinlein would probably do that.

> ONE TRAIN RIDE AND SEVERAL HOURS LATER.

Your tanks have been parked in a single row on neutral ground outside of the battleground, where a fairground for spectators has been set up. People are coming around, sitting in the bleachers or on laying about on picnic grounds in front of a giant screen. The roster information, the commanders and tanks attending, and all other important information is displayed.

You rub your hands, biting your lip. In just a few minutes, Kursk will arrive, words will be exchanged. But you’ll get to meet Oryola Kuznetsov! How great is that? She’s an idol to you sure, but she certainly isn’t your parents, but… wow, meeting her would be great! “Relax.” Stack nudges you. “This is fun, we’re having fun!” Ingrid, Winona, and Josephina laze around, playing some cards on the tank.

Then you feel the soft rumble in the ground. They’re coming. Oh, they’re coming! Uh, uh, think, think, think-

Coming over the eastern horizon is a huge horde of Soviet tanks, everything from the famous ISU-152, to the smallest T-70 and even the iconic T-34/85. The judges wave them over, allowing them all to park in front of your tanks. Once they were all parked, the crews all step out, dressed in dull browns and greys. Their tanks were painted Soviet green as well, with the school’s Hammer-and-anvil sigil painted on the sides. Griselda, Iris, Suvorov, Serafina, and yourself all step up to meet them.

And coming to meet you was the exceptionally dirty, smelly, and excited Oryola Kuznetsov.

She smiles at you, grinning happily as she adjusts the goggles sitting on her forehead. “Da, if it is not the cutest little Pool.” Oryola bends over, smiling in Griselda’s face. Griselda visibly recoils at the smell of Oryola. “Aw, what is wrong, solnyshka? Are you scared?”

“N- no.” Griselda coughs, clearing her throat. “Natalya not accompanying you today?”

Nyet,” says Oryola. “Natayla is spending summer at home with the family. But me, I get the honor of sending Kursk to World Champions of NATO for second time this year.” She folds her arms, then looks over at your crews and tanks. “Fair lineup.” Griselda nods. “Introduce me, da?”

Griselda nods. “Oryola, this is Iris.” Iris nods, curtsying. “Erm. Suvorov.”

“Oooh.” Oryola smirks, winking at Suvorov. Suvorov blushes a little, clutching her tricorne. “Good taste.”

“And this is Serafina.” Serafina nods, greeting her in Polish. Oryola nods, saying the same back to her in Polish as well. “And finally, Elodie.”

“Da, privyet.” Oryola shakes hands with all of them. Iris recoils in horror at seeing her gloves be stained black by Oryola’s grip. Oryola shakes hands with you.

… it hurts, ow, powerful grip, too powerful.

“Oh?” Oryola seems to notice this? “Something the matter? Are you nervous, dushka?” she asks.

“Erm.” You bite your lip, looking at her hand. “Y- you’re crushing my hand.”

“Ooh.” She lets go, and you quickly sigh in relief. “Sorry, dushka. Sometimes I do not know my own strength.” She places her hand on her ample assets, smiling at you.

Winona suddenly comes up behind you, grinning. “You know, she’s a fan of you, Oryola.” GODDAMN IT WINONA. NO. Oryola gasps, giggling a little bemusedly. Noooooo…

“Ah, here, tell you what.” Oryola reaches into her pockets, then slaps down a pair of her dirty gloves into your hands. Some soot, grime, and grease already stains your palms. “Those are one pair of gloves I have used since middle school. Natalya has been telling me to get rid of them, so, there you go my littlest but surprisingly mature fan.” She pats you on the head, and some oil on her palm leaks through your hair and stiffens up your locks.

Wow. She’s giving you her gloves!

“Right then,” says Oryola to Griselda. “Shall we start?”

“Yeah.” Griselda and Oryola shake hands. “We will. Good luck.”

Oryola smirks, then gently pecks Griselda on the cheeks. Griselda rubs her cheek, embarrassed, and a little disgusted at the uncleanliness of it. “And to you as well, cutest.”

The Judges, six young ladies wearing black minidresses with white tights, and bearing large chest badges labelling them as “JUDGE” step forward between you all. “The Duo Matches between Lafayette Girls Academy and Kursk Girls Boarding School will now begin! Bow to each other!” All of you bow to your opponents in respect to their skill and their dedication.

> Attempt to find an alternative way in

You consult the map a little, thinking on it. “Suvorov, do you copy?” you say over the throatmic.

“Yep! What do you have planned?” she says.

“There’s a smaller offroad, the Rue de L’eglise that forms off of the main road into Carentan and leads into town itself. I say we pull in there and use that to speed our advance.”

“It’s a small road, but I guess we can do it,” she says. “Lead on, comrade!”

You hunch down into the turret and look at Josephina. “Josephina!” you call over the mic. She looks back, headphones on her ears. “I’m gonna signal you to turn left a little early, got that?” She nods quickly, keeping the controls firmly in her hand. “Alright, cruise speed.”

“Cruise speed?” asks Josephina.

“Just go at a comfortable pace,” you say. With the retuned suspension, you won’t have to worry about throwing a track hopefully. As you feel the wind in your hair and your helmet as you pass through the French countryside, you have to say.

Even if you lose, this is some view. You check your watch. Already ten minutes, you should be halfway there.

Finally, you do see Carentan over the rise of the road. “Alright, Suvorov. You’re going to call someone to head into that town Churchill and watch eastward for Kursk’s advance.”

“Got it! Giap, you’re good at climbing!” Suvorov yells. “You do it!”

“I’m only here because you said you’d help me with my history homework,” Giap says.

“Just do it!” Suvorov insists.

As you enter into town, you inform Josephina to take it slow. Partially so you can hear the engine noise of the Russian tanks, and partially to keep yours low. But to completely neutralize that, the Panzer III speeds right past you, crushing a car underneath its treads. “Suvorov, watch where you’re going, you just crushed someone’s car!”

“Yeah, they’ll love it!” she yells. You roll your eyes.

“How’s it look in town?” asks Griselda.

“Quiet, we’re trying to get an OP set up,” you say. “According to this map, there’s two primary ways into Carentan, I’ll have Suvorov set up on the northeast approach, I’ll take up the easternmost one.”

“Right on!” says Griselda.

As the tank prepares to hull itself down between the two bridges, you consult the map again. Hm, a couple of T-34s, an SU-76, a KV-1, and an ISU-152. What could they be planning? If they attack, the ISU-152 will be caught in between buildings where you can easily outflank it. But at the same time, the T-34s and the KV-1 will have the advantage in close quarters because quite frankly, you only have one thing that could reliably penetrate it and that’s the Pershing. The Six Pounders could probably kill off the KV-1 at close range, but the Pershing…

Well, the Pershing is piloted by the Poles.

Still, that quieter than normal engine on that KV-1, hm. Maybe they might go for some sort of flanking attack. But without the Churchill or the Pershing here, you can only defend two areas at once AT BEST.

Suddenly, a shell flies over your head. “Whoa!” It slams into a nearby building. You look to see where it came from, and indeed, it’s one of the T-34s. It exposes its frontal armor past the corner of a building, angling it sharply so any hits would most likely bounce off even with the best armor piercing rounds you can muster.

“Fire back, Winona!” Your Centaur takes a shot at it, and the shot glances off the extreme angle of the frontal armor. Damn! “We’ve engaged them, Griselda!” You suddenly hear a loud boom off in the distance.

“So have we, it’s another one of the T-34s!” yells Suvorov. “They’re pinning us but they aren’t pushing!”

“Where’s Giap?” you ask.

“She’s heading up the church tower, give her a second!”

“I’m here!” calls Giap. “I’m looking… yeah, I see smoke off in the east! It looks like the ISU-152 and the SU-76. But I can’t find the KV-1 anywhere.” Oh. That’s not good, that’s not good at all.

“Stack, load high-explosive!”

She nods, pulling an HE shell out of the ready rack then ramming it home into the breech. “Clear!”

“Fire at will!” You kick Winona’s shoulder, signaling her to fire. She pops a shot off at the T-34. Unfortunately wide and missed, but fortunately hitting the building it was cowering behind, sending dust and debris out to obscure their sight of you. That’ll buy you some time. You hear more shots being thrown up in the distance.

“This is nuts!” yells Suvorov. “Why aren’t they coming for us!?”

“It’s a pincer attack!” yells Griselda. “The KV-1 is gonna hit us from the rear at the same time Oryola has all of her forces on one side of the river! You guys have got to keep alert! We’re already in town now and approaching your position!” Okay, that’s good, that’s good. Reinforcements at last! Another shot goes through the smoke, nearly hitting your tank.

“Load AP!” you yell. Stack shoves a new AP round in.

“I’m sending the Pershing to assist you, Elodie! The Churchill is heading north to assist the Poles! I’ll stay in the rear to ward off that KV-1! Hold those bridges!”

“Josephina, Ingrid, keep sharp. We’re gonna continue holding position.”

Ingrid holds the sides of her compartment, biting her lip. “Can I just say that I’m kind of freaking out right now and I really hate being shot at like this!?” Josephina as well appears to be intensely gripping the controls to the point of her knuckles turning white.

A shot gashes across your turret, knocking you out of your seat and into Winona’s lap. The loud droning of the metal settling fills your ears. Winona holds her ears, trying to keep herself composed. Ingrid however is completely rattled, holding her ears.

> INGRID IS STUNNED

> NOTE: Crewmembers who are stunned will eventually recover based on their STRENGTH. Crewmembers who have maxed out strength will NEVER be stunned except by a LEGENDARY TANK.

Winona keeps herself composed thankfully. “Return fire!” you yell as you pull yourself out of her lap. She fires again. Smoke fills the cabin, and you cough as some of it enters into your throat. You pop out of the hatch, and find a burning T-34/85 with a white flag sticking out of the turret. You killed it!” “Winona! Good shot! You got our first kill!”

You look down to see Ingrid still dazed and off the radios. Damn it! You pop out of your hatch and yell to the Poles, waving your arms and trying to get their attention. Serafina is turned out, looking ahead. She turns around to see you waving your arms at her, shouting at her to “Stop! You’re going to run right into them!”

She waves back happily, shouting victory cries in Polish as she and her team run themselves into the road. And as they pass the burning T-34 and continue on, they’re immediately blown to smithereens, almost being tipped onto their sides. Serafina is thrown back inside the turret from the blast. They’re closing in the pincer. Of course that means the ISU-152 is coming in, which means it’ll come in to engage at close range. But then the KV-1 is also coming in and will probably attempt to rip up your formation from the inside. Better to stick with numbers.

“Nuts to this! Josephina! Full reverse!” You break out of your hull down positioning and retreat backwards down the street. The ISU-152 doesn’t even bother with a shot it seems. That’s okay, you probably weren’t going to survive it anyway!

But just as you arrive on the scene, you see the Panzer III be blown out of its cover by a shot from the remaining T-34. The turret ring sparks and flashes in a simulated ammo cookup. “They got us! Good luck!” yells Suvorov.

> INGRID IS NO LONGER STUNNED

“Iris, take the right road, we’ll swarm around left! We’re going to hit that T-34 before the rest of her friends can come help!” You turn the turret and pop smoke, obscuring the advance of yours and the Churchill some distance in front of the T-34.

“Affirmative.” The Churchill lumbers right out of the wreckage and starts barreling at the T-34. You wheel on behind her and move to the other approach. It’s a longer one, but you’re betting that the Churchill can tank one or two shots, buying you some time to get around and get not just a flank, but also a really good defensive position on the incoming tanks. “Traverse left,” calls Iris. As the Churchill looms out of the smoke, the turret of the Churchill turns to meet the T-34, which is holding position right at the other end of the approach. “Fire!”

The Six Pounder screams right across the T-34’s turret cheek, shattering some paint but leaving the tank completely intact. The T-34’s mighty 85mm fires back, this time landing a shot right into the Churchill’s frontal armor. “Oh dear, the driver is stunned and we are out of control,” says Iris. The Churchill slowly wheels left. “Oh no.” It tips right into the water and crashes right in, thankfully not submerging completely. A white flag pops out unfortunately.

“RUN!” you scream. Your Centaur I roars as it immediately wheels away. The KV-1 Commander shouts to her crew in Russia as its turret and body slowly traverse to track you. Come on, come on! You’re exposing your rear here!

They fire a shot, which sneaks right into your turret ring. Stack and Winona are thrown forward. Winona is dazed by the impact, groaning as she holds her head.

You are not going to be outsmarted! “Run! Josephina! Run!” The Centaur runs for it, rushing its tracks across the bare roots of trees and through fallen branches here and there. “Come on, come on!” The KV-1’s turret slowly traverses to track you. “Wait! Stop!”

The shot scratches across the front of your turret. “Agh!” yells Ingrid. “Make it stop!” she screams. The clanging of the rivets and plates crashing together is really not reassuring. You see the KV-1 attempt to close the distance for a point blank shot. Damn it, damn it! You spy a break in the bushes. There, that’ll be your ticket out!

You fire another smoke shell, which douses the entire tree line in smoke, shrouding you from the KV-1. You hear the KV-1 commander’s angry yells over the engine noise and the crackling of fallen branches and roots. Ha! You’ve escaped her for now! “Break for it, now, now!” The Centaur crashes through the hedges, sending you into what appears to be horse racing track. Perfect ground for accelerating! “Flank speed, go go go!” you scream.

You rush across the track, hurrying yourself away. If you can fix that jam in the turret outside of town, you might have a chance. You just have to-

You’re suddenly flung forward, your gut catching on the turret hatch and keeping you from getting blown out. The engine explodes, almost completely shattered in fact by a simulation HE round. The tracks are blown apart, and one of the road wheels rolls away in the blast.

You look back to see the ISU-152 on the road near the hedges where you made your breakthrough. That adventure through the trees must have bought it enough time for Oryola to close in and get a killing shot at close range.

Damn it.

Spirits are kind of low, but overall everyone seems to take the loss well enough as you set up camp for the night in the French countryside.

> - 10 MORALE TO ALL CREWMEMBERS

Within walking distance is the much larger and much more extravagant Kursk Girls Boarding School camp, which is celebrating their victory around a large bonfire. They dance, they sing, they goof around like the victors they are.

Unlike you lot. Stack sets up the rather cramped or cozy as you might like to call it five-man tent. “Come on, everybody!” she says. “Cheer up!” They seem a little dejected, preferring not to talk about it.

Griselda comes up to you, smiling. “You gave it your best.”

“I know,” you say. “So did you.”

She gently punches your arm. “Try and get some rest. Tomorrow’s a flag battle. They’ll pick the flag tank in the morning.” Alright. Gotta be prepared for that. You sigh deeply, resting your hands in your pockets.

“Oi, dushka!” You whirl around to see Oryola approaching you all. All of your crewmembers look at her, kind of dejected and hoping she isn’t coming to gloat. “That was a good match you gave us. If I am honest, I was expecting blowout, but you handled yourself very well despite the odds. If this is your first ever match, you did very well, dushka.”

“It is, thank you.” You politely bow to her, smiling. “It’s an honor to be complimented by you, Oryola. As my dear gunner told you, I am a big fan of you.”

Oryola smiles happily, folding her arms. “Da. Do you still have my gloves?” You blink, then take them out of your pocket. “Oh, you did not wear them during the match?”

“Oh, well, no, they are a little…” You blush a bit, shrugging. “I mean, you gave me these. I wanted to put them somewhere special.”

She smirks, then holds out her hands. “Give me your hands.” Huh? “Come on.” Your crew look on, Stack and Winona trying to keep from giggling with glee. Oryola takes your hands with her own grease covered ones, then slowly puts the gloves on. They feel surprisingly warm, soft, and gentle as the inner lining brushes against your skin. It’s a perfect fit even! “There, they suit you!”

“B- but… you-“ You cough. Oh, where are your manners going?

“I give you gloves to use, not to admire,” she says. “If I want you to admire, then I can just send you pictures.” She takes your hands, shaking them, not overbearingly crushing them. “Good luck tomorrow. Maybe you will split Duo. After that, I will root for you, da?”

You smile. “Y-… okay,” you say quietly.

“Da. Until next time, dushka.” She pats your cheeks, then turns around and walks back to her camp.

You look at your hands. What are you supposed to do with your hands?

Winona smirks as she slowly slides in next to you. She quirks her brow, biting her lip and grinning smugly at you. “What are you looking at?” you ask.

“Oh, nothing,” she says. She taps your side, and you flinch away.

So what does it take to reach the qualifying match?

Also does the flag battle count as one of the 22? and how does it calculate the points?
>>
>>46106198
Both matches in a duo are counted in the overall 22.

As for how you get there, you basically have to win as many matches as possible and hope that your rivals in the division get buried beneath you in their losses. I've got ExcelAnon working on calculating the more detailed nuances of the NATO tournament system.

Everyone has themselves a bowl of your mother’s patented beef stew with certain veggies and carrots dipped in. “Mmm, this is pretty good,” says Ingrid. They crew all nod happily, sitting around the campfire. Stack is busy roasting up marshmallows. You never understood the appeal of that, cooking over a fire. For what purpose? You’re not sure.

“Tomorrow’s another day, another match,” says Winona. “Hopefully we can beat Kursk this time. We won’t have to worry about killing all of them. We just have to worry about killing their flag tank.” Everyone nods in agreement.

“Yep.” You lean back, smiling a bit. “But for what its worth, you girls do did your best. And I really hope that tomorrow, we can improve on that. It wasn’t anybody’s fault we lost, we just got outplayed.”

Josephina nods. “I think we did pretty good overall too. And since we are playing again on this field tomorrow, we’ll be sure to get them now that we know the little nuances of this field.”

Ingrid places her empty bowl next to her, then lies back on the countryside grass. “Plus, we racked up two kills in that mess. I think we deserve to be a little arrogant by that fact.”

“All thanks to Winona,” you say.

“Heee!” Winona blushes, slapping her cheeks. “You noticed me!” Well, credit where credit is due. Winona did a fabulous job gunning today. She’s got potential that’s for sure, more potential than you at least. “I promise, next time, I’ll do a better job. And we’ll get that KV-1 for sure, and get some vengeance!”

“Yeah!” Stack pumps her fist. “We’ll be back tomorrow, we’ll crush those Ruskies!” Winona slaps Stack’s hand, whooping in glee. “But first, gotta finish dinner.” Everyone nods, hurrying to finish their meals.

It is incredibly cramped in this tent. Five people in this one tent? That’s really optimistic. After you doused the fire, you all crawled into your sleeping bags, and immediately everyone became aware of a certain problem. This tent was far too small for the five of you. You suppose the tent had to be small to accommodate all the other camping equipment as well. But this is ridiculous. Josephina had to curl up in a ball just to fit inside. And as for you.

“Ah…” Winona smiles, her eyes shut as her head rests on your chest. “Ellie, your chest is like a waterbed.”

“Don’t start,” you mutter.

“Hey, lemme see.” Stack rests her head on your breast. “Hey, she’s right, it’s so soft!” They both cozy up. Ugh. Guys, please. You have your own sleeping bags!

At least Ingrid isn’t- You blink, then turn your head down to find Ingrid staring at her phone, checking box scores as she rests her head on your thighs. She looks over. “… what?”

You sigh. Gonna be a long night.

Don't worry, Ellie will get there one day.

>>46106709
Against one of the most decorated and elite tankers in the world AND a KV-1 with a stupidly quiet engine using a partially green crew and a Centaur I with a jammed turret ring, probably not.

>>46106729
I generally have a policy of not telling players this unless it's glaringly obvious what you did wrong. However I will let you in on a little secret.

To calculate when a tank fires, it depends on the tank and the crew involved.

Your standard run of the mill crew running any kind of tank fires once a post unless there's something special about them.

Elite crews can fire twice per post. Certain Legendary tanks also have a perk which allows the firing rate to be doubled.

The old perk Lockdown doubles the fire rate as well.

>>46106777
Regaining CP involves your job as a Naval Studies Officer, and also learning and practice Tankery. At some point I'll fill this all in at the mechanics page.
>>
>>46106840
Also we took minus .20 morale for one crew and -10 for everyone else?

How is everyone? i mean if i recall an old mechanic it was that if you reached a very low percentage the crew will leave.

and apparently having no radioman did prove to be the downfall for Ellie and the Poles. Who knew?
>>
>>46106898
Yes, Winona is sad that Cuddles isn't here and everyone else is kind of dejected at losing.

Everybody is fine so far. The Poles are actually spending the night washing away their paint on the Pershing and replacing it with the old olive drab in order to make their charges more sneaky.

And as for having no radioman, everyone has a role to play in a tank.
>>
>>46106941
....Their planning on charging again? Why the last two times didn't work!

Also what about EXP for our crew when it comes to kills how does that work?

and speaking of radio, did the Poles not hear the warning and did we even try radioing them by using our own comm set?
>>
>>46107009
Ingrid was knocked out. Plus, I'm not sure they speak English save their commander.
>>
SO for Nato are we facing all american or western based teams like the ones on the tournament roster back in the original LGA or are we seeing or returning to the same old teams we met before?
>>
>>46107009
Third time's the charm.

Also, you no longer gain XP from killing regular run of the mill tanks and crews. At least not at this juncture. Elodie needs to learn how to get the crew to learn Tankery better, they learn at different rates and speed.

And as for the radio, since Ingrid was stunned, you lose all external communications with other tanks. To put into perspective how dangerous a stunned crewmember can be:

If your driver is STUNNED:
- Your tank can roll wildly into a ditch or into a building.
- Your tank can be immobilized in the middle of a fight.

If your gunner is STUNNED:
- You will be unable to fire.

If your loader is STUNNED:
- You can't fire again.

To name a few.

>>46107102
NATO's Eastern League is primarily composed of American teams, which you will face a lot of, some new, some old like Robert A. Heinlein and J. Walter Christie.

But there is the other league across the pond consisting of European teams. You're scheduled to fight against the French and the Chinese later on in the Quest.
>>
>>46107143
Western League that is.
>>
>>46107143
the French will be fun, what will they use the French Super Heavies? and the Char B1 Tier?

As for the Chinese? What do they use? I'm not too familiar with Chinese tanks in ww2 besides buying a lot of interwar stuff.
>>
>>46107166

Are there other leagues? Japanese? Oceanic?
>>
>>46107143
yeah but what about ones who aren't fully manned like the Poles and especially Griselda, in which she has like 3 crew?
>>
>>46107189
NATO is composed of two leagues which are divided further into three divisions each, based on geographical area.

>>46107181
You'll find that out later as the Quest goes on.

>>46107237
Again, I don't simulate crew inefficiency because A. it's really difficult to do so in the confines of this Quest without making post turnover longer than it already is and B. I don't really see any good reason to.
>>
>>46107451
Will we see T-70s in the Flag match? I was a little dissapoined we didn't see them
>>
>>46107529
You'll see.
>>
Does Morale also effect battlefield performacne like it did last quest?

>>46107143
I'm honestly still lost on why the Poles choose the Pershing, i know they like to charge but the Pershing is a underpower brick with a big gun, not good for the 'charge of the light brigade scenario'
>>
>>46107648
Indeed it does.

And as for why the Poles chose the Pershing, it had the biggest gun. Why not?
>>
>>46107673
So after this match and especially with Wilnoa, will we be fighting in a bigger disadvantage due to the plummet of morale loss?

>And as for why the Poles chose the Pershing, it had the biggest gun. Why not?

To be perfectly candid with you, they never use the bloody thing, and instead use it like a fucking lance (excuse my language), if we wanted a charger they should have taken the Panzer III
>>
>>46107724
There is going to be a bit of penalty with low morale. You have to keep the morale of your crew reasonably well. And this doesn't mean say good things about them a lot, that's condescending. You actually have to be friends with them, get to know them, earn their trust. The more you befriend them, the harder it'll be for things to lower their morale.

And as for the Poles, you're assuming too much of people who don't generally do tanks for a living.
>>
>>46107780
Is that what we did wrong we didn't befriend them hard enough?

>And as for the Poles, you're assuming too much of people who don't generally do tanks for a living.

I assume enough considering my sisters know shit about tanks yet know enough that if you have a big gun, you shoot the big gun, not go dark ages knight.

I mean at least the old poles picked that up pretty quickly even with their shitty 37mm though out the series.
>>
>>46107887
No befriending them has no baring on their actual talent. Befriending them simply increases the chances that they resist a morale penalty.

Also, you assume too much of characters who think differently. If everybody thought the same way about everything, we wouldn't have characters or conflict.
>>
>>46107947
I guess your right but if you were blown up twice because of charging, you would think that they will at least think 'Maybe we should try something else" and they should realize by now that the Pershing is not some race horse, it's like having the longest lance but your riding a mule......

I mean even the Japanese had to think defensively and now do human wave tactics if they can help it.
>>
>>46108063
The Japanese didn't learn to think defensively until 1945.
>>
>>46108077
1944 actually

and that was because they didn't have viable options. The Poles do have options.
>>
>>46108063
And it took WW1 commanders 2 and a half years to even have a single thought with regards to not just sending then men over.
>>
>>46106410
Thanks for the fun, boss. See you late tomorrow.
