Anything at least as crunchy as 5e, which isn't too bad I think. I like to have a little bit of mechanics to fall back on. I've played a variety - D&D (3.5, PF, 4, 5), FantasyCraft, Apocalypse World, Don't Rest Your Head, Rogue Trader, Dark Heresy, and a few little homebrew systems (not of my own design, playing someone else's homebrew - mostly experimental stuff with dice). I'm flexible as long as the story is good - if you want to pitch me a system I'm pretty open. I've been wanting to try out Riddle of Steel, Torchbearer, Pendragon, Shadowrun, and Paranoia for a while, so those are a plus.

Yeah i'd be interested in playing probably a wep spec.

Also really interested in constructing the regiment. How does gland warriors weilding chain bayonets sound? Is that grim dark enough fer ya? They dont have to enter melee, but when they do they can frenzy, and they can also gland detox to instantly come out of frenzy leading to a 'cult of the pure blood' regimental creed.
Depending on what you think they could also be a PDF regiment from a blood angels liberated world, and so have a strong connection with the blood angels, iconography, sanguaniary cult etc.

Are you down for PbP games?
>>
>>46075826
Tried that once. Would there some sort screen to visualize combat? I found that i was not sure where my character was or what he was doing.
>>
>>46075760
My problem with the old systems is that they're limited as fuck. You have to choose from these boring, overused old archetypes with no room for deviation. I think that's why people like 5e so much, it's way more open-ended and allows for customization.
>>
>>46075951
The archetypes are easily broken by players who don't want to use them. 5e may have more rules, but the rules are also more stringent. B/x DnD is loose, accessible, and most importantly easy to just pick up and play without relying too much on the rulebook.
>>
>>46075999
Except for the fact that there are no stats for any of the expanded races or classes and it's missing a lot of fluff for expanded shit. Not to mention how easy it is to break shit. The peasant railgun, Pun-Pun, Muscle Wizard and so on were fixed for a reason, anon. The rules in 5e aren't stringent, they're just better balanced.
>>
>>46076055
Those are all more 1e issues than problems with basic. It's fine if you don't like the system, but obviously some disagree and it would be cool to get a game going. I've got 4 players now and am looking to round out the module's recommendation of 6.
>>
>>46076090
>Six players
>not overkill

Senpai, just fucking run it with four and rebalance things if they get too bullshit.
>>
>>46076204
The plan is to run with six players, five at the least. It's cool if you're not interested.
>>
>>46076261
He's saying 6 is too many and will seriously slow down the game by a lot. Like, literally every tabletop game that's too many players. Nobody's saying don't run your game, but you are making a huge mistake by asking for 6 players.
>>
>>46076324
Six to nine players is the range for the module. I would never try to coordinate nine players in an online game, but six is doable and it's what was recommended by the module.
>>
>>46076354

>6-9

Jesus fucking christ.

Those old modules were fucking garbage.

Was their philosophy just "You'll need like seven dudes to die so the Wizard can gain XP and break the game"?
>>
>>46076354
You could just have 3-5 players that control 2 characters each.

Roll20, text game. We use Skype for OOC nonsense and we're a close-knit group of 5. We talk all the time about bullshit outside of games, so ideally we'd like someone up for being part of the group outside of sessions, but whatever. if you're here for the game, you're here for the game. no biggie.

Campaign wise, Rogue Trader will be very player focused (cos it’s bloody RT) if we do that. Or if everyone chooses the Dark Heresies it will either be general Inquisition investigation stuff, or custom ‘Arbites meets Judge Dredd (duh) meets COPS hyper reality TV show with bullets beatdowns explosions and servoskulls recording your every move’ stuff.

Honestly, players choice, I’ve no real preference nowadays, I miss the GM seat.

It's a west marches game, meaning that sessions run when players want them to run as long as there's a GM available, we're currently about 2 weeks in and everyone is loving the shit out of it, the setting is persistent between sessions, with a text channel on the discord specifically for between sessions in-character banter

If you need more information just ask me on skype because it is fairly complex and different to a normal dnd game.

>Additional Notes
I generally don't enjoy GMing in Roll20 and such because drawing out scenes is a huge task to me. I'd be fine with basically just the map and having our character portraits on the screen for battle; it's not an overly tactical system in that way.

The idea of rotating is that we each have a guardsmouse to play, and roll out an order for taking turns GMing. When we GM that mouse is off doing whatever. And if someone flakes, we just recruit more mice. I'm thinking two GMing sessions a year each.

Because they are unreliable and provide next to no config.
>>
>>46121671
Discord is server-based, like Teamspeak, so you can drop in whenever you like and talk with whoever you feel like talking to. Unlike Teamspeak, you can make private servers for free, the text chat actually works, and the audio quality is at Skype-level. Discord also has the advantage of limited-time-links, so you can only provide an opening to your server for 24 or 6 hours if you want. Roll20 is really shitty as a voice client, it's temperamental and has low sound quality.

I used Teamspeak for like 4 years, have used Skype for the last 5, tried Mumble for a while, but Discord is by far the best, easiest VOIP software I've ever used.

Why the hate? I thought we parted on good terms. I even gave what I thought was pretty constructive criticism and wished you well.

If some people want to play a high lethality campaign, that's cool with me, I just didn't realize it would be a 'half the party dies on the first adventure' sort of thing, and like you said, the other people liked it.

Just because it wasn't for me doesn't mean that you should call names on /tg/, that's a little childish. And no, I'm not going to say which game was yours because I'm not spiteful even if you may be.

Reminder that the likelihood of these games not turning out well at all is very high. I, for one, have not had a singel game from here turn out well, and I have attempted at least 10 of them altogether, I'm sure others have wasted far more than a year on this drivel. Oh sure, there's the anecdotal evidence of one guy's game running for a long time successfully, but do not assume that as the standard. Expect the worst. The games that fail are usually full of autistics. Such faggotry is what leads to games going to shit. Also /tg/ is generally shit to play with. Constantly trying to be el Tiburon, or pull off the next big dank epic greentext. Also, the people who make their waifu and then get butthurt when the GM doesn't want to go into their magical realm.

That being said, not everyone on /tg/ is shit, just most you.
You have to be rude and cut off the retards as soon as they rear their ugly heads.
Just like real life, you root out the faggotry until you get a good group and stick with them.

The only reason I had my games fail has been Player turnout. As long as people come i have had no problems.
>>
>>46140993
You wanna run a star wars game?
>>
>>46140993
That's exactly what I mean. Did you think I meant drama or something? People constantly flake in these games.
>>
>>46140993

There's a pretty easy solution to this problem, though.

Turn away any player under age 25.

Turn away any NEETs.

Turn away anyone who says they might not be able to make sessions reliably.
>>
>>46141206
Nah, I am more into Weird(Gonzo) Fantasy, than science fantasy. That is why I am Running DCC
>>
>>46141360
Funny enough, When You play online, That is mostly what you gonna find.
>>
>>46141434
Bullshit. The average online player is:

>17-22
>NEET or college student (you decide which is worse)
>Doesn't say anything, but doesn't make to sessions reliably

That includes GMs.
>>
>>46141664
That is what I meant. most players are 17-22, Neets.. Etc, doesn't matter. I am just looking for players for my Dungeon Crawl Classics campaign.
>>
>>46141664
>>46141849

Hey, nobody said it's gonna be easy.

But the fact of the matter is that 17-22 year old NEETs or college students are:

Bad at keeping a schedule

May be trying the hobby out for the first time ever, and don't know if they like it and may lose interest, and are thus, risky

Have poor social skills, particularly when it comes to resolving conflicts

Will ditch you if they have an opportunity to do other stuff

Have no idea what differentiates a good story/character from a bad one, due to being relatively inexperienced

Still deciding on a regular game with a side of one-shots. My M.O. is HBO miniseries play with definitive number of sessions to do one overarching plot and some character driven subplots. Also player death is a thing I like to have as a possibility, I'm not going to go out of my way to have it, but it's not just stupidity that can kill you.

>Times Available (with timezone!)

Play times between the times of 9:00 PM to 1 AM EST almost any day of the week possibly twice a week but am open to negotiation.

Skype, text chat only for the time being due to my living conditions.
>Contact Info

Skype: bronynathaniel Why no one can't change their name on skype. If you add me as a contact make sure you tell me your doing it for a game

>Additional Notes

Due to the nature of text chat based adventure stupidity don't come here expecting anything too rules heavy. I'm flexible, and I can find a way to make things work but don't come here for Riddle of Steel and be stuck with FATE.

Ok, same anon here, i found a GM (cool guy, he's from this thread) who will run the game. We use JoJo d100 (pdf attached here), GM's timezone is GMT, mine is GMT+1. We need 2 or more players, we still discuss the details on the setting. My Skype is disaster1240, add me so i can hook you up with GM.

Text/ASCII-based MMORPG using Star Wars D20 rules. Big world, lots of content, solo and multiplayer, persistent characters that are generated in game, with automated character sheet and chargen. Heavy roleplay. Needs players.

I am interested in whatever you are leading on, GMT +1 from Poland, I am up for it though I dont go on IRC's, are you still there?

I enjoy playing Warhammer tabletop games (Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, etc.) and I have played in several, I have a good grasp of mechanics. I also like to GM and people say I am pretty good at that too.

But my problem is I'm not an expert on Warham lore. I know the basics, sure, but I'm afraid to run a campaign because I think I'm going to make some mistake and someone's going to jump on me like
>Um, I don't think the Mechanicus would use that machine because it's heresy don't you know anything about Warhams?

You think I should go for it anyway?
>>
>>46159794
I get that you need players but you're literally advertising a video game, you're not trying to find a tabletop group
>>
>>46159976
Go for it, but read Lexicanum and Ravenor/Eisenhorn books, you need to know basic stuff and just make notes between sessions what you want to do and just read on it. Anyways, I am up for playing in your sessions seeing new blood in this. The > guy you quoted seems like That Guy by the way.
>>
>>46160035
Sorry, I figured that it relies too much on tabletop rules to be /tg/ as much as roll20 with scripts and sheets is /tg/.

this guy, I forgot to add the lexicanum. It is the best wiki alongside 1d4chan about wh40k I think, but 1d4chan is from the players view not from plainly "information" view.
>>
>>46159976
Hey, actual GM here. Don't listen to cucks like >>46160077, you're the GM. It's your game, you can change whatever you damn please about the setting. And if the players bitch about minor things like that, ask them if it's a legitimate issue. If they think so? They can run their own damn game.

That's not to say that players are expendable and without right to comment. But you have to realize that you're the one putting in the most effort here.

> You are just saying to make up his own C.S. Goto stuff.

I am telling him exactly that. I'm telling him to grow a pair and run his own game, the way he wants. In a setting this inconsistent, with so many people with their own headcanon. You may as well make your own take on it and have the guts to stick to it.

Not that I even run your godawful slop of a failed system. I'm just telling the guy some sound GM advice to not bend over backwards for random players, you can save that for when you've made actual friends to run games for.
>>
>>46160300
He didnt actually say that he is playing with random players.
