Notes:
Using names or trips in this quest is heavily discouraged. While it is impossible for me to prevent you from doing so, I ask that you not. I will also not count any votes made while using names or trips.
As yet more creatures woven from the black fabric of the void spill from the tear in reality you notice something odd. The area around the portal seems to shimmer strangely, smaller holes flickering into existence only to vanish a moment later. The way the portal twist and contorts itself almost makes you think it might be alive, but a quick glance at the portal through the lens of Nature magic puts your concerns to rest. It is a black gash in a field otherwise painted in shades of green.
Something else catches your eye instead. Your magically enhanced senses reveal that small, but very bright, points of light drift lazily through the air all around the portal. They almost remind you of torch flame seen from a distant, reduced to little more than a speck of illumination. It's worrying to note that these points of light seem to foreshadow the appearance of one of those smaller holes in reality.
Cutting the flow of vys, your vision snaps back into sharp focus. Your brother's soldiers seem to be struggling to hold back the never-ending flow of monstrosities pouring out of the tear. They have the portal encircled, but you're not sure how long that's going to last. The first bull-headed giant you saw emerge has already created a swathe of death and destruction through one formation of spearmen, and though the men fight bravely their blows seem to do little in the way of actual harm to beast.
You spot your brother standing just outside his tent, mouth hanging slightly agape and a horror writ large in his expression. You spot a handful of messengers sprinting from the front lines towards your brother's command tent, likely bearing messages from your brother's captains.

Your own men are beginning to cross the dry riverbed to join you gawping at the portal. Some of them are wearing armor looted from the corpses of the enemies you've just killed, while others carry spears in hand. You should probably help, somehow, but what are you supposed to do in this situation? The Varistha managed to close a portal to the void but he was probably the most powerful single man alive.
You hear Zahak's voice reverberate through your skull, his thoughts tinged prominently with concern and confusion but otherwise surprisingly calm. You suppose he doesn't quite understand the magnitude of this situation. {Papa, what's happening? That doesn't look normal.}
The voice of your adoptive son manages to rouse you from your stupor. {It's not normal, Zahak. Whatever that flash was, it opened a portal to the void, a vast space outside of our reality populated by spirits-} Your trail of thought is interrupted by a quiet screech. Ricky seems to take issue with being called a spirit. {-or rather, the ancestors of what we call spirits. We need to find a way to close the portal, otherwise we risk the death of thousands.}
Zahak bobs his head, glaring briefly at the portal as though a mean look might scare it off. {If I breathe fire at it will it close?}

Guys, we need to stop fucking around and start leveraging our companions. Mortia is Rhynian and has tons of artifacts to combat Void Entities. If we give her the Forest King's Crown, she'll be able to also use her Nature GM skills to pinpoint the cores of the Void Entities. Remember, they can't be killed normally. You must destroy the core, or you'll just be swatting at wet sand. Next, we need to equip Chryssa with all of our guns. Her Deathmask and ranged weapon skills will allow her her the most precise fire against Void Entities. The firearms we have will be highly effective at penetrating their core. Mik has repaired holes like this before, but the DC to repair this rift will be in the higher 30-low 40s.
There are two ways we can resolve this. Either give Fulvia the Vys amulet we have and have protect us and as many vatis we can pour in. It's a virtual suicide mission. The other option we have is to use our last corporeality potion, giving us and another half droughts. It'll give both of the users a malus of 4 to meditation, but it'll let us get close. We'll need our strongest metal or just magical companion though, in order to get enough bonuses to make closing the rift even possible.

The sword you keep sequestered away in your cloak springs unbidden to mind. How much vys must you have pumped into that gem at this point? All of that energy released in one massive wave of destructive energy would kill just about anything. Reaching into your cloak you find the grip pressed into your hand and withdraw it just far enough to reveal the cracked gem embedded in the hilt. It glows hot enough that you can feel it even through the thick layer of carapace covering your hand.
You let the blade slip back into your cloak and march swiftly towards your brother. You manage to beat the messengers by mere moments, only to be distracted by a piercing beam of light blasting skyward from the far side of the melee. It propels one of those horned giants a good sixty or seventy feet into the air before dispersing, the giant's upper body hollowed out by the blast. As it spins slowly back to Earth its body starts dissolving, until it simply ceases to exist entirely. You suppose a resistance to magic does not necessarily mean an immunity after all, or perhaps there's something special about Profectus' arm?
Turning your attention back to your brother you clap him firmly on the shoulder, startling him out of whatever daze he was in. He stares at you wide-eyed and panicked, clearly quite out of his depth here. You seize the moment to take control of the situation. тАЬOrder the men into a full retreat. I have an artifact with me that I think ought to help but if any of your men are in the way they'll be reduced to ash just as readily as the creatures we fight.тАЭ
Zaahir takes a deep breath to steady himself, nodding firmly before he steps forward and shouting at the top of his lungs. тАЬRetreat! Everyone retreat back to the dunes! We need to regroup if we have any hope of defeating these beast! Full retreat!тАЭ

The nearest messenger slides to a stop, kicking up a wave of sand before leaping back to his feet and taking off at a sprint towards the melee. Your brother keeps shouting your orders until he sees the massive bulk of men and metal that is his army lumbering its way backwards. Some of the men in the rear of their respective formations simply cut and run, but for the most part the retreat is orderly. The front lines keep their shields up casualties, while heavy, could certainly have been worse.
The forces under Darzi's command get the worst of it. For a second you think they're going to be cut off from the bulk of the army but a charge by her mounted force manages to break through a line of smaller, seemingly incorporeal void creatures which seem to form the bulk of this particular incursion. She rides at the head of her much reduced force, Profectus serving as the leader of the freed slaves.
Rather than follow your fleeing army the void creatures stick close to the portal. There doesn't seem to be any sort of underlying organization to their actions, they simply group together in one great mass. A horde that promises death on a grand scale lest you find a way to stop them here. Stepping forward you reach into your cloak and slowly withdraw the Shockwave Sword you acquired so long ago, a strangely foul smelling smoke curling off the blade.
{Where do you think you're going Mik?} Mortia ask via the brooches. Her tone is firm, almost motherly. {We could use your help tending the wounded, y'know. Water Vatis don't get the luxury of running off on their lonesome while there are wounds to mend.}
You ignore her, forcefully severing the connection as you stride towards the hole in the world. The ranks of void creautres have already swollen to the point that you'd guess they number in the hundreds. Why are they even interested in invading your world?

As you draw close they begin to take notice of you, a few of the smaller, ethereal creatures drifting towards you. They have no legs, instead their upper bodies terminate in wispy trails of black mist. You wait until they're close enough that you can see the barest outline of a skull in the pit that fills the space where their heads ought to be, and then seizing your sword with both hands you twist yourself forcefully, swinging the blade in a broad arc.
Blinding blue light erupts from the blade the moment you start moving, a blast ripping violently through the air in front of you with enough force that you're thrown off your feet. Your back slams into the rocky ground of the battlefield with enough force to knock the wind from your lungs and even when you manage to take in one struggling breath the air is hot enough to sear your lungs. Miniature cyclones of molten glass roil past you as the wave of destruction rushes over the horde of monstrosities from the space beyond existence, their high pitched screeching rapidly drowning out any and all thought.
You're surprised that you managed to escape any extreme bodily harm, though the blade itself is gone. You think it was probably destroyed in the blast but you're not sure, one minute you gripped a sword and the next you held onto a scorched metal hilt. The gem has been shattered into a thousand pieces, reduced to little more than dust by the sheer amount of power channeled through it.

You're a terrible woman for doing this to us, Soma.
The scene before you looks like the gaping maw of Surya himself. Where once there'd been a field of stone and sand, now there stretched only a molten lake. Vys in the area is so saturated that it's visible in the air without even needing to slip into a trance. In fact, you can barely see anything all through the overbearing haze of blues, greens, and reds which fill the air for as far as the eye can see. You can still hear the wave of vys roaring in the distance, you wonder how long it will take for the shockwave to exhaust the massive amount of vys you pumped it full of. Until it does it will probably continue on, carving out a swathe of destruction in its wake.
More than that the laws which typically bind reality together seem... weakened as a result of the blast. Massive chunks of slowly cooling molten rock float freely through the air, the liquid glass flowing upwards rather than pooling across the ground. Slowly impossible shapes begin to take form, arches which spiral endlessly into themselves and structures which by all rights should collapse under their own weight. It reminds you distinctly of what you've heard the Pa'vala is like.
A cheer ripples through the mass of soldiers behind you, and you turn slowly to face them. The men have leapt to their feet, shouting aloud a chant of тАЬDragonrider! Dragonrider! Dragonrider!тАЭ with the sort of reverence you'd expect them to show the gods. You hold up your hands, basking momentarily in their adoration. It feels good, to triumph so effortlessly over a threat that few, if any, mortals could've hoped to address.

I was debating for a second, since this is essentially a stealth roll. I mean, how could you channel to succeed at something you have absolutely no idea is happening?

You bow low to your adoring populace. It's as you right yourself that you realize their shouts are not of adoration, but terror. Pain blossoms through your back as the claws of a feminine figure carved from some sort of strange metal dig through your armor with uncomfortable ease, shredding your kidneys and gripping your spine in the process. The pain stops as she pulls back, her fingers severing your spinal cord in four places with little effort on her part.
As you collapse to the charred earth, the creature strides forward on talons more suitable for a bird of prey than a woman. You pump vys into your injuries, your spinal cord slowly repairing itself while the gashes left by the creature's fingers have already knit themselves closed. You see that all around you there are more of her ilk, and worse. Skeletal figures born aloft on bat's wings swoop gracefully through the air, leaving trails of choking black smoke in their wake. Masses of bone and muscle shamble forward, their torsos dominated by a single, gaping maw. An endless stream of those strange ethereal soldiers and their much larger, horned counterpart. Their numbers grow with every passing second, though they seem to dismiss you as a corpse.
It seems as though you've only thrown fuel onto what was already a raging inferno.
As the last of your injuries knit closed you withdraw your trident from your cloak. Springing forward to jam the weapon into the nearest hulking monstrosity, one of the shambling collections of muscle and bone with a mouth where its chest ought to be. All three prongs slam home, and it's with immense relief that you watch the creature's body begin to rot away. Instead of blood, vys begins to boil from its wounds.

It swats at you, but you manage to get your shield up in time. You're thrown through the air, scraping across the rocky soil before finally coming to a stop. You think your arm might have been dislocated by the blow, but a touch of channeled vys fixes that. You roll out of the way of another attack, this one coming from the smoke-wreathed hands of one of the smaller, ghostly entities. They don't wield weapons, but somehow you suspect they're fully capable of causing you immense pain.
You manage to spring to your feet thanks to the unnatural grace afforded to you by the enchantments on your shield, but it quickly becomes clear that you're surrounded. More and more of those creatures filter out of the cloying fog of vys that blankets the twisted lands you inadvertently created. Panic is setting in rapidly, but then you spot something which gives you pause.
Floating high above the army of void entities is a creature that looks almost human. It has elongated fingers which end in claws, and its body seems pieced together by shadow and vys. It lacks eyes, instead its head seems to be trapped within some sort of vice-like growth, but from within shines a blindingly bright white light. Some sort of leader, perhaps?
