Sounds like your problem OP. If you're just blatantly playing NOT!Revy like you say you were then I would have ridiculed you as well, perhaps even making you roll a new character.
If you actually injected some originality into the character then it clearly wasn't enough as the GM still figured it out and so my first point applies.

It should not matter what sex you are in 99% of TTRPG situations. If you are playing a character who needs to constantly draw attention to their sex/gender then you need to play a different character or leave the group
