“Your friend is fine,” says the 2-1B medical droid as he oversees Kuvasz on his bed. You stand over his bed with Vikker, crossing your arms. Kuvasz lies there, barely awake, but looking better than last night at least. A bacta patch crosses over his chest where the lightsaber hit him. If he hadn’t been wearing that armor, you’d probably be only looking at half of a Mandalorian right now. “There are extensive burns across his chest, but they should heal with some bed rest and regular application of bacta. Admiral Reike has informed the medical staff to keep you supplied. I must admit, I have not ever had a subject with this much external scarring so it was a very interesting experience.”

“Hey, I’m full of surprises,” mutters Kuvasz.

Vikker pats Kuvasz on the arm. “Feeling better at least, old man?”

“Where’s that nurse?” asks Kuvasz. The 2-1B tilts his head. “There was a nurse here with a very fine rear, I think Rhys and Vikker’d get a kick out of it.” You look at the 2-1B.

“Painkillers,” says the 2-1B. Ah. That explains it. “Should wear off within the hour.” Kuvasz groans, trying to sit up. The 2-1B gently pushes him back into bed. “In the meantime, he will be ready to join you soon.”

“Thanks, Doc.” You nod. You and Vikker turn around and start walking out of the medbay. “You know, Vik, we got lucky. Real lucky.”

“Wouldn’t have happened if you had left the girl back at the ship,” he says. You roll your eyes. If he didn’t want that, he should have said something. The door out of the medbay opens, and the two of you start heading down the hallway. Technicians and engineers were busy at work removing panels and checking electrical wires, apparently diagnostics after the battle that you had missed. Makes you wonder if Eudora is okay. “Listen, Rhys. I think we need to have a serious talk.”

You sigh, then stop Vikker. “Alright, talk.”

“That girl is going to get us killed,” says Vikker. “I mean, you-know-what is one thing. But come on, you can’t expect her to just hide it.” He holds up a finger, coming up with a idea. “I say we dump her somewhere isolated. Maybe like Lothal or Jakku or something. Then we go about, find that Fleet, we go back to treasure hunting. In fact, forget all this business with Admiral Reike and the Empire. We just go back to doing what we did.”

“Vik, you were the one that got me back working for the Empire again.”

He grunts. “And I have regretted that every day since. I need to stop looking at the easy credits. Look, I’m not forcing you to do this. Hell, I owe you my life, Rhys. You saved me.” He pats you on the chest. “Let me save you for once. I’ll let you think about it, alright?”

You nod, continuing to walk with him back to the ship. “Alright.”

Cutting Misri out? Admittedly, you’ve only known her for at most several months in this venture. Not to mention that she’s been shirking her responsibility lately. What would Kuvasz think though? Hell, what would the droids think? Not that they really have a say in the matter, but they all love her. You can’t have all of your droids deserting on you.

The two of you go down the lift into the hangar where all the big shuttles are kept. Reike’s personal Lambda, Sentinel Landers, and finally your own Lion’s Share. It’s places like this that make you feel at home, really. The black reflective floors, the illumination, the feeling of… you’re not sure what the feeling is but it’s there. Lev meets you at the boarding ramp. “Sir.”

“Lev.” You’re about to pass him up. Vikker does, leaving you behind. You need to check on Misri, see if she’s fixed up anything.

“Sir.” He catches your sleeve, stopping you. He holds up a holopad, which blinks with an incoming message. And not just any holopad. Eudora’s holopad. She’s calling you. “She is calling you.”

You take the holopad out of his hands. “Thanks.” You hurry up the ramp, then head down the hall into your quarters. You shut the door and lock it. Can’t have anybody disturbing you. You sit down at your desk, then take the call.

And out of it comes the image of Eudora. Out of her orange flightsuit now and wearing a simple grey woolie pullie with black pants. She brushes a bit of her red hair back, her arms folded as she looks at you. “Rhys.”

“Didn’t you say this was for me to call you?” you ask.

“It was,” she says. “But circumstances have changed a bit. We know you’re close to finding the Katana Fleet.” Well, she’s not wrong about that. But it’s less close and more you’ve found a way to find it now. Admiral Reike hasn’t called for you to report on it yet though.

Then again… “You’re taking an awful risk contacting me like this.”

“We’re using old Separatist channels,” she says. “Haven’t been used in years, Empire probably doesn’t even know they exist. If you’re wondering how we know you’re close, a little lizard and his walking carpet of a friend told us.” … Kublai and MadClaw. You need to throw those freeloaders off. Damn it. “Don’t blame them, we paid them to steal a carrier, instead they get us the intel of the year.”

[2/2]

“Right,” you say. “So. You want me to sell out the Empire then for it so the Rebels can claim all those ships for themselves? Then what, you go around terrorizing more worlds?” You scoff, leaning back in your seat. “I’m not an idiot, and you’re not a hero, Eudora.”

“You presume too much,” she says sternly. “Me and mine want to discuss details with you. But we request that you come alone. You can bring one of your astromechs, but that’s it. I want to talk to you in person about this. There’s too much to discuss over a secret comm channel and if I talk too long, I risk compromising the Fleet’s location.”

“… and if it’s a trap?” you ask.

She shakes her head. “It’s not a trap. I am trusting you to not bring the entire Empire on top of the Fleet, and in return, I’m going to make sure the boys and girls here who have friends that you shot down, don’t immediately blast you on sight. Will you come or not?”

The least he can do is hear them out. Still, the time of reckoning is coming. Rebels are rebels, but the Empire has been filled with nothing but cunts out to kill us and exploit us. Rhys may have been in flight school and have a soft spot for the military that brought him up, but he's not the loyalist Lotte is.
>>

>> “Fine. Transmit me the coordinates.”

I'm intrigued. Besides, this might be the chance for Rhys to see what the Rebels are like when they aren't trying to kill him.
>>

Exactly. This is a rare glimpse into the Rebel war engine.
>>
>>45380867
> “No. I’m not working with rebels.”

Let's face it, when we tried playing two sides with Zann, one of them got fed up of our shit and decided we needed to die. The Empire aren't going to react kindly to us pissing about talking to other people, especially after Reike got the inquisitors off of us.

Lotte, the guy at the academy who had us thrown out, and fucking shitty inquisitors and Co.

Everyone else has been pretty okay, the Officer on Manaan or whatever, the Stormtrooper bros, Reike has even been up front with us.
>>
>>45381073
That's because Zann was a prick trying to play both sides of the conflict and wanted the Katana Fleet to strongarm everyone. Rhys is already marked for death/capture by the Inquisition, and he's never really parleyed with the Rebels before.

>>45381097
Reike makes everyone's stomach churn. He's only playing it straight because Rhys is his best chance at the ultimate promotion if he can secure the Katana Fleet.
>>
>>45380867
>> “Fine. Transmit me the coordinates.”
>>
>>45380867
> “Fine. Transmit me the coordinates.”

I think we're nearing the end of our rope with the imperials. We owe that admiral.. Reiker something or other but I'm worried that as soon as we hand over the fleet they're coming after us.
>>
Alternatively, we could get the co-ordinates to the Rebels, and send Misri off to them so she can embrace her Jediness, and we can fuck off and find the fleet.

>>45381133
Even the inquisitors don't much care for us, they only care about Misri, because she's the one using the force. Once we get rid of her and give them the Katana fleet, we'll just be rich insignificant scum.
>>
>>45381200
Rhys barely trusts the Rebellion to do anything other than die when he shoots at them, why would he ever think they wouldn't take advantage of Misri?
>>
>>45381200
>Dropping Misri
Let's not start this, not now at least.
>>
>>45380867

So we're taking the coordinates and then transmitting them to the Empire, right?
>>
>>45381133
>He's only playing it straight because Rhys is his best chance at the ultimate promotion if he can secure the Katana Fleet.

Yes, and?

He an honestly bad man, but he's honest, and he won't just fuck us over just because, and he won't throw hissy fits because we did something he didn't like.

He sees us as a useful asset and he treats us like one, maybe he will try to dispose of us, but that;s a maybe, and he's more likely to want to keep one of the best pilots in the galaxy around after this job because we're really fucking good.

Reike isn't some mustache twirling villain, he's a cunning and intelligent (albeit evil) man. He's not going to "You found teh fleet, NOW DIE MUAHAHAHAAH" us.
>>
>>45381224
Because it's a kinder fate than just dumping her on Jakku as Vikker suggested, and let's face it she's going to get caught by inquisitors pretty quickly if she's not with the Rebels.
>>
>>45381262
I'd argue that leaving her with the Rebellion would get her killed even quicker. And there's a solid chance that if she's just abandoned to the Rebellion that she and Rhys would end up fighting each other.
>>
>>45381253
>He's not going to "You found teh fleet, NOW DIE MUAHAHAHAAH" us.

“Alright, I’ll humor you, Eudora. But if this is a trap, I will bring Admiral Reike and his fleet down on top of you. Transmit me the coordinates.”

“Relax. Unlike the Empire, we’re willing to negotiate with everybody. I’ll see you soon.” Her hologram disappears, and in place of it comes hyperspace coordinates. You download it and take up the holopad.

Hm.

Grab your helmet and your life support pack and pull them on. “Sir.” Lev calls you over his commlink. “Admiral Reike is requesting a report on the tracker. What should I tell him?”

“Is it done?” you ask as you head into the cargo bay.

“Almost, the navcomputer we have designed for it is currently calculating all destinations along the route of travel that the logs we recovered have, it will take time,” he says.

“Then tell him that,” you say as you drop down to your R-22. “And tell him that I will be indisposed in the meantime. I’m going out for a short ride.” You open up the cockpit and slip yourself on in. Now you need an astromech droid too.

But who to slot in?

R5-Z3 gets himself comfortable inside of the astromech slot. “Sir, I’m honored that you would have me as a regular inside of this slot.”

“Well, if this were an X-Wing, R5, you’d be a great bodyblocker on account of that thick head of yours,” you say.

“And your cockpit makes an excellent shield in case a Starfighter strafes our flank, sir.” You smirk as your Starfighter is craned to the back of the cargo bay, to the hangar. “I am calculating the coordinates now, and also implement the sensor jammer so that the Empire cannot follow us unless you mean them to.”

“Good, good.” You double check systems as you’re dropped out of your hangar, and out of the hangar of the Redeemer and into space. You take a good look at the fleet orbiting Alpheridies. Dozens of cruisers, mixed in with several Imperial Star Destroyers. And who knows how many TIE Fighters as well. You pull your mask and take a deep breath. Now or never you guess. “Alright, R5, take me in.”

With a loud bang, you get to traveling.

-

-

The jump was only a short distance away. What made it difficult was that it wasn’t on any known hyperspace lanes or charted space. A lot of farmboys like to think themselves geniuses when they say they’d just go “around” blockades or “go as the convor flies”. In reality, hyperspace travel through even charted space was difficult. You had to make sure you didn’t fly into a star or into a planet’s surface, you had to get the right trajectory so you actually came near the place in the first place. And then there’s Purrgil who occasionally wander into hyperspace lanes.

Makes your skin crawl just thinking about it really, people who oversimplify things.

You come out of hyperspace is a very distant part of space. No nearby stars, no celestial bodies to take account of. Just stars, blackness, and the rings of the galaxy above you. “R5, you see anything?”

“Straight ahead, sir,” he says. “I am detecting several large signatures, capital ship size.”

Your sublights take you directly ahead, and out of the blackness comes the increasingly growing specks of a fleet. Yep, this is the place. It was a huge cobbled together mess this fleet. Some Mon Calamari transports, old Separatist Munificents and even a Providence and a Recusant, Corellian corvettes and gunships of all types, and even a stolen Neb-B here and there. But in the center of it all was the massive familiar shape of an old Lucrehulk battleship. You recognize that battleship, it’s all across Imperial Navy registers as being part of the legendary Separatist holdout fleet.

The Separatist 5th Sector Fleet.

> 5th Sector Fleet <
> The Separatist holdout fleet, now aligned with the Rebel Alliance <

Certainly larger than Reike’s, but definitely not up to the tech. “Sir, incoming fighters.” You unlock weapons quickly. And flying past you now are two X-Wings. They immediately curve around and fly on either side of your flank. “Their weapons are unpowered and their comms are declaring a truce signal, they appear to only want to escort you in.”

[2/3]
>>
>>45382211
[3/3]

“Fine,” you say. You look at the pilot on your right, and he looks back at you. He gives you a very obscene gesture with his fingers at you, and you return the favor back.

They escort you into the hangar of the old Lucrehulk. Tractor beam projectors are quick to lock you in, and bring you to a landing. Old Vulture droids are patrolling around, backed up by rusting B1s and B2s along with regular organic soldiers of all species. You pop the cockpit, then step out. R5 hops out as well.

And coming to meet you now is Eudora. “See?” she says with a slight smile. “Not a trap.”

“No, I see your logic, you’re planning on ambushing me when I’m out of my fighter because you know I’ll win if you put me in a fighter,” you explain. You smirk back at her. “Good try though, I will admit.”

She rolls her eyes. “I see you haven’t changed much since Flight School. But, regardless, welcome aboard the Usury.”

“Before we talk though, Eudora. How about you and me catch up?” you ask. “I mean, I don’t suppose you have time for a bit of fooling around with an old friend, now don’t you?”

She tilts her head, giving you a very coy look. “Oh, -suddenly- you want something to do with the Rebel Alliance now that I’m involved.” You shrug. “Fine, we can head up to my quarters, have a quick drink before we talk with Admiral Attun Palalin.” She motions you to follow her. R5 starts following you too, but you turn around and stop him.

“Stay with the ship, R5,” you say. “Just in case.” He tips himself forward in a nod, then rolls back to the ship.

“Smart,” she says. “Any usable scrap or ship we can find usually gets stolen.” Well, at least she admits it. You take a quick glance at her swaying rear before turn your eye back to her face. “However, not everything is as it seems. I’ll explain everything later.” You nod, shoving your hands in your pockets. You take one look left to see a row of X-Wings sitting and being attended to by pilots in orange flightsuits. They all look over at you, and glare at you when you pass by.

“… who are they?” you ask.

She looks over at them, then back at you. “That’s my crew. Menace Squadron.” She leans over to you. “Two of ours were shot down over Tython so we’ll try and keep some distance, alright?” You nod. Fair enough. You look back at them, and they all continue to glare at you. A human male with messy blonde hair, a Neimoidian female, a human girl who couldn’t be more than fifteen, a Polis Massan (that isn’t actually glaring at you), a Rutian Twi’lek guy, and a very strong looking Ithorian, all of them come together to fight the Empire.

You hold Eudora’s old TIE Pilot helmet as you stand in her room. She pours a glass of Corellian rum for you and herself, then sits down at your desk. “So, kept your helmet?” you ask.

“Yep.” She kicks back in her seat as you look around you’re her room. For the Commander of a Squadron, this was rather… grim. Grime and rust was getting at the corners and the cracks between ceiling and wall. The bed appeared to be more frame than bed. And her chest of drawers at the foot of that bed was filled with dirty clothes and a pile of an orange jumpsuit. Not to mention the desk where lots of files and holobooks were placed. All in all, it was more like a janitor’s closet than an Officer’s Room. “We have to spare room for what supplies we can get, means I don’t get my own office.” She shrugs, smirking. “I like it in here anyway, it’s cozy.”

“Sure it-“ You kick your foot against her bed, then gently place her helmet next to the pillow on her bed where you found it. You sit down on the chair in front of her desk. “Sure it is.” You take your glass and take a sip. “So this is where you’ve been the past six or seven years since I was expelled?”

“I only defected a year ago,” she says. “Racked up a good killcount of pirates and rebels before then, then I defected.” You nod, taking another sip. She holds out the bottle for you, and immediately you take it from her. “I don’t expect you to understand why I defected, I know you’re a stubborn guy, too full of yourself to think about why others might do things contrary to what you might think is smart.”

“I’m not that full of myself,” you say. “I just wonder what the Rebels have to offer compared to the Empire. Restoring an old corrupt Republic? Bringing back freedom? What kind of nonsense is that?”

[2/3]
>>
“You just proved my point,” she says quickly. She brushes back her red hair again, then sighs deeply. “Look, things are worse here. The X-Wings are the most advanced thing here. We’re having to back it up with Clone Wars surplus that we shove old leaky hyperdrives into and then attach drop tanks to. The Vultures are too degraded and are only useful in dogfights for ramming things. The pilots we get are farmboys who took too many trips around the Swoop ring, the Admiral bless his heart he’s nice but he thinks we’re still fighting the Clone Wars, and going without food for a day or two is a regular occurrence.”

“Then why stay?” you ask. “Even if you think the Empire is wrong, no pilot can suffer this. Why?”

“Unlike the Empire, I’m a person to them,” she says back. She shrugs, taking a deep chug of her entire glass. “Still, wouldn’t expect you to understand that. Again, full of yourself.”

You sigh. “So, what, you think this stuff is enough to fight the Empire then?”

“It’s a start.” She holds out her glass, and you pour more rum into it for her. “Thanks.”

“So. Is this the part where you want to offer me a spot in your little Fleet?” You knew this was coming. She’ll offer you a job, she’ll bring you into their fold, she’ll offer all kinds of-“

“No.” … what. “This is the part where I ask you, as a friend, to help us with this one thing.” She leans on her desk, looking at you very sternly. “We can’t offer you much in terms of credits. We sure as hell can’t let you leave with any of our droids or ships. We just want one thing and one thing only.”

“What is this one thing?” you ask as you place your glass on her desk. “And let me warn you, Lotte pulled the friend thing with me. I don’t suppose you did the same thing with Pil, right?”

She narrows her eyes, giving you a slight glare. “Harsh.” She sighs, taking another drink of rum quickly. “Let me explain. The Katana Fleet is one of the largest collection of free ships out there. If the Empire were to get their hands on it, the subjugation of the Outer Rim would be complete. They could post ships at every hyperspace lane, at every corner and nook we could conceivably hide in. We’d run ourselves into the ground trying to run away, not to mention that if they modernize all of those ships, they could be ready to liberate dozens of worlds that rebel. You know last year, the Empire ‘liberated’ five rebel controlled planets with the Base Delta Zero initiative.”

You shake your head. “Yeah, I don’t really care. What separates you from them?”

“I’m going to be completely honest with you. We don’t have the manpower to crew these ships. We don’t have the money to fix them, and they will need fixing. And we don’t have the logistic chains to maintain all of those ships at once.” Then why hunt for the Katana Fleet? Wait. She can’t be serious. “We found ourselves an old astromech that can decode the Fleet’s security systems. You’re well aware that they’re all running slave circuitry coded to the flagship, right?”

You nod. “Right.”

“We’ve coded a self-destruct program.” A very heavy air comes in between you and her now. “We are going to blow up the Katana Fleet.”

“You’re nuts,” you say.

[1/3]
>>
>>45383550
[2/3]

“We can’t use those ships, even if we wanted to,” she says. “We don’t have the droids, we don’t have the men. You know the specs for the Katana-class Dreadnaughts demand 2,200 crew members right? That’s at least 440,000 crewmembers at least,” she says. “We don’t have that kind of manpower. We’re -losing- manpower every day. Chandrillan militia can’t support us anymore since the Empire started putting checkpoints on the major hyperspace lanes. The Ryloth Resistance can’t send us anymore weapons or men either.” She leans over to you, nearly getting in your face. “And this Fleet is the –last- Separatist holdout in the galaxy. I’ve confirmed it with folks on the inside. There are no more like this Fleet. No more Gizor Dellsos or Corporate Alliance mooks to help us. The cells are too scattered, we’re too few. That Fleet, if the Empire gets its hands on us, will destroy us.”

“Yeah. Nice little rant there,” you say. “But… what do you want me to do?”

“I ask that you level the playing field for us, and give us a way to find the Katana Fleet,” she says. “Kublai told us you were working on a tracker of some kind. We want one too, or at least the coordinates to one of the potential destinations. You do this, we can pay you, we’re square and we won’t bother you again.”

[2/3]
>>
>>45383570
[2/3]

“So what do you want to pay me then?” You cross your arms, squinting at her.

She sighs, resting her hand in her hands. “Five thousand, ten thousand when the job is done.”

“… that’s it?” you ask. “Fifteen K?”

“It’s all we can spare,” she says. “We need everything here. Even as old as the droids are, they still have an important role for us, and they’re absolutely irreplaceable now that the Empire is cracking down on the old foundries and the sale of Sep droids.”

“This is a joke.” You shake your head, laughing a bit. “The Empire is paying me a hell of a lot more than that, plus giving me a bonus when I complete it. You have to offer more.”

“We can’t,” she says. “I’m begging you, just please help us.” She knows this is way too little. She has to be holding out on you, surely.

>>
If we give her coordinates, they'll turn out to be the right ones, and we'll be left with no Katana Fleet to show for it. That means no pay and no TIE prototype at best.
At worst Reike will figure out we sold the Fleet's location to the Rebels because they're not trying to kill us anymore.
>>
I honestly don't believe her.

They had B-Wings, all the fights we had with the Rebels had advance aircraft, not one Clone Wars surplus.

OIt feels like Lotte in which she says she is fine with her small outpost but we get pulled over when she became a commander of star destroyer.
>>

>I want you, out of this conflict, if you need somewhere to go then you can stay on my ship, ,that is my price the tracker, for you out of the game.
>>
>>45383989
It's actually a terrible starting place for negotiations because it's so low. It's like a single trip to Alderaan.

It's almost insulting considering they offered Kublai 50,000 for a single ship, and the bounty on us is also higher.

I'd almost say they've calculated this, shown us the shittiest bit of their fleet, without any new shiny a-wings or b-wings, to make us 'feel' for them.
>>
>>45384072
For the tracker it is a start, besides saying this will test her resolve.

Hence one of the suggestions to ask for the bounty they put on Rhys's head. Rhys claims his own bounty, the Katana Fleet is blown up, Rhys is square with the Rebels because now the Empire doesn't get to fuck them raw with no lube.
>>
>>45384139

>>45384072

>>

Considering he's an imperial officer....yes, I think so.
>>
>>45383884

>>

Even then, that's what 65,000 credits? Far less then what we've been promised by the Empire. It also means the Empire don't want to murder us, and the Rebels will be too btfo to seek revenge against us. Plus once the Rebels are dealt with the Empire can go and crush Zann.

I mean Rhys is petty and greedy. There isn't really a real benefit to helping the Rebels.

I wouldn't say petty, greedy sure but he can be talked to. It's just that the same sob story is what Lotte did to us and we are a bit more guarded about that.

Not to mention there's being greedy and being duped. We seen what the rebels have and are capable of. 15k is a bullshit amount.
>>
>>45384259
What real friends? Vicker, R5, Misri and Kuvasz are his only real friends. And the Empire isn't just going to kill every non-human for shits and giggles, the only one in any real danger is Misri, and she wouldn't be if she had listened to us.

Lotte fucked him over, he wouldn't even be talking to Eudora if she hadn't survived us shooting her down, and the Furies aren't going to be effected by this either way since they lost their chance to build a new Mandalorian empire, and are now a non-entity.
>>

> “Come on, surely you can offer more.”

“You paid Kublai and his furball friend 50k. You’ve had a bounty on me for that kind of money too for much longer than that. You’re playing me, Eudora.”

She shrugs. “The simple answer to that is that we don’t have the money anymore. And the bounty on your head we got rid of on my suggestion. We used that money to buy supplies to get us through to the next cycle. As for the 50k on Kublai, we paid his due when he informed us of what was going on in your ship.”

“He didn’t tell you everything, did he?” you ask.

“Only the Katana Fleet stuff,” she says. “But I know for a fact that the blind mechanic in your cargo bay certainly isn’t blind.” You roll your eyes. “The 15k is all we can spare.”

“Don’t give me that.” You place your hand on her desk, leaning closer to her. “I know for a fact, that you have more money than that. Hell, look at the size of this fleet, you think that comes cheap?”

“Everybody here is a volunteer, we’re not paid,” she says. “That Corellian rum you’re drinking isn’t even mine, I stole that from Jacko’s drawer.” Oh. Well, she’s got the right idea at least, or at least Jacko does.

“Okay, here’s an idea then,” you say. “You abandon this game then.” She tilts her head, confused. “You leave the Rebels, I give you the Fleet a copy of the tracker. If you need some place to go, I’d be happy to-“

She slams her glass on the desk, shutting you up. “I. Am not. Abandoning this Fleet.”

If you can’t match that, I’m sorry, but that’s how the galaxy works. I’m not in this for your little crusade.” She stares silently up at you. “If you’re smart, Eudora, you’ll give this stuff up.”

She slowly stands up, looking you directly in the eye. “Fourty.”

You blink. “What?”

Screwing over Reike for little material gain and an IOU that they don't have to honor is a pretty dumb idea.
>>
>>45385043
>an IOU that [the Rebels] don't have to honor
Like the Empire is any better.
>>
>>45385029
The job was to find the Katana Fleet.
You really think he'll look the other way when the Rebels destroy the Fleet?
The sheer stupidity you want people to swallow is astounding.
>>
>>45385029
I mean technically speaking, we can play this right and get TWO paydays.

The empire's payment and the rebels
>>
>>45385076
They can actually pay us and most of them don't want us dead.

So far the only argument against that I've heard is MUH DICK or MUH REBELS, both of which are fucking stupid.
>>
>>45385083
EXACTLY. Rhys gets paid twice, and neither side (and Zann) gets the war-deciding ghost fleet. The fleet is too much power for one faction to have. The Rebels have the right idea: better no one gets it than the Empire gets it.
>>
>>45385076
What can the Rebels offer us?
Reike is offering us enough money to retre and to fly TIE prototypes.

Why would Rhys accept anything less than that for somethin that will get te Empire after him?
>>
>>45385083
The moment we move against Reike is the moment that he no longer has to put up with us and the Empire is more or less turned against us again. He's the reason we were able to stop being on the run. Trying to be sly for 10% more cash just means that we're running on borrowed time before someone works it out.

Why can't we just play straight with the Empire, get our assets liquidated, and be rich?
>>
>>45385104
Not once in this conversation has Eudora offered ass, so "MUH DICK" isn't involved.
>>
>>45385122
>>45385083
Holy fuck you're right, I can't believe I didn't think of that. if we can get two paydays then what the hell are we doing arguing about?
>>
>>45385145
Because it's never that easy with either side.

Well Rhys doesn't know that so he should play it safe.
>>
>>45385145
Because the moment we find the Katana Fleet for Reike, he'll turn the Inquisition on us, who have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on Rhys and Misri. We have no friends in the Empire (apart from the cute cadet in flight school).
>>
>>45384263
its not nothing anon it is her life and decisions she is with the rebels for a reason.
>>
>>45384480
>take the 40k
>>
>>45385227
Vikker himself said he wants out of the Empire contract. At least we can lay a cushion with the Rebels if this does go through.
>>
>>45385171
Because it requires Reike to be far more stupid than he's acted so far.
It requires him to ignore the fact that in spite of Rhys, and therefore the Empire, being the only ones to physically take the Nav logs of the found dreadnaughts, the Rebels were able to get to the Fleet first and destroy it.
>>
>>45385227
>the moment we find the Katana Fleet for Reike, he'll turn the Inquisition on us
That isn't certain. If we can find the damn fleet I'm sure he could find another use for us down the line that isn't on a chopping block.
>>
>>45384480
> Take the fourty K.

>>45385083
This guy has it right, get paid by both sides. Plus lets be honest Rhys thrives on the chaos in the galaxy; without a war, there is a lot less of a need for a moral grey archaeologist and general scoundrel.
That said we have to be very, VERY careful about how we play this.
>>
>>45385274
No one said anything about the Rebels getting there first. Again, all the Rebels want is a copy of the tracker; they'll deal with everything else.
>>
>>45385274
We just need to plant evidence then. Not much, just enough so that an alternate theory can be trotted out

Man it was a mistake to accept that letter of marque from Lotte. The minute we did that our life went to shit. Never go political.
>>
>>45385272
Vikker wants out but leaving the contract and destroying the thing the Wmpire has been hunting for are two different things. The former, we could go back to a life of small jobs. The latter would have the Empire hunting us down; the whole Empire and not just Lotte's little group.
>>
>>45385305
>That said we have to be very, VERY careful about how we play this.
That fills me with confidence.
>>
>>45385334
Everything Rhys has done was on a leap and a prayer. The only reason he gets away with the shit he does is that he's unnaturally good at what he does.
>>
>>45385315
You think that they won't get there first? They have enough ships in this fleet that they could send a ship to every coordinate hit that the tracker produces at once while we can only go through the list one at a time.
They're going to get there first because they have enough people who have their lives on the line that they'll be more motivated to win the race.
>>
>>45385328
>The former, we could go back to a life of small jobs.
With Rhys's knowledge at this stage? Hell no. Rhys can't just walk away. Either he's Imperial for life, or they chase him down.

“Fine. But throw something else in, bounties, maps, information, something to kick the deal.”

She sighs. “I can offer you a favor. One favor from me, and the Fleet. That is all we can do. You can take it or leave it.”

You shrug. “I’ll take a favor I guess.” You sigh, crossing your arms. “But your money better be good.”

“It has to be. We buy our food with it,” she says back. “Come on, I’ll escort you back to your ship.”

-

-

A Neimoidian and several of his droid aides turn to you as you march back to your ship. “Commander Kyriako,” he calls. “I was wondering where you were. I see you have sealed the agreement with Mister Cykgil?” he says.

She nods. She motions her hand to you, then to him. “Rhys. Admiral Attun Palalin, commander of the Fleet.”

He nods to you. “Cykgil.”

> Admiral Attun Palalin <
> Separatist Holdout Fleet Commander <

He smiles, folding his hands behind his back triumphantly. “Well, I presume the negotiations went well then.” Eudora takes his hand, bringing him aside. “What- what is it?” They talk quietly with each other on the side, but then: “You what!?” Eudora tells him to quiet down, hissing at him through whispers. “That is money we need for food, Eudora!”

“We can stand to starve a couple of weeks! We need the Katana Fleet now!” she shouts. “I’ve already transferred the money to him, deal with it!”

“You-“ He wags his finger in Eudora’s face. “Imperial… you better know what you are doing!”

What evidence and alternate hypothesis could there conceivably be that would point away from Rhys?

There's nothing that could work.

“What’s going on here?” asks the blonde guy from Menace Squadron. Eudora quickly explains to him the situation. “Oh. Well. Hell, I mean… if it gets us the Fleet, why not?” The three start bickering and arguing amongst themselves.

You sigh, shaking your head as you return to your ship. “Anybody try to steal anything R5?” as you access the comm network.

“No, sir, they have been polite as can be,” he states. “Though, the Vultures were very rude and called me very mean names.” One of the Vultures screams at R5 as he walks by. “Screw you too.” Ugh, you are getting a headache from this. “Sir, Lev has said that the calculations are complete, and the Katana Fleet’s destination has been calculated. Do you wish to send them here to the Fleet now?”

First off we need to come up with a foolproof story to fool the admiral.

How fast can you code up a fucking dirty and ugly program that does the same thing you do but doesn't resemble the original, using just a couple of nav data point not including the latest dread we found.

THIS
>>
>>45385477
>Other: Transmit the coordinates to both Reike and the Rebels.
Looks like we're sending the actual coordinates instead of just a list of possibles.
People thinking we could get paid twice have filed this up for us entirely.

No food for two weeks is not a joke. You don't just burn people like that.

Yeah, nah, that's fucking retarded.
And how would this evidence even fall into Reike's hands, anyway?
You think he won't know somethings up if we give it to him?
>>
>>45385556
sounds like a plan. have the empire show up and drop the hammer on them and quietly watch from afar
>>
>>45385611
None of the options said to deliver Reike the coordinates right now. We can worry about delivering the tracker to Reike after we return to his ship. All we're confirming is whether or not the Rebels get the real coordinates or not.
>>
>>45385519

Good, this I second
>>
>>45385611

We've already gotten a fully sim data, nothing says we can't use another extrapolated data point to stand in as an original source.

>>45385635
No, because Reike will be wanting to know how the Rebels got the coordinates to show up at the same time as him.

>selling out to rebels

i could see if it was to perpetuate the ongoing war between the Empire and the Rebels and we profit from the increased amount of work we can get from it, but we're not even doing that

>mfw those loyal stormtroopers that died for us are rolling in their graves as we piss on their sacrifice
>>
>>45385677

Actually...

Why don't we just tell the rebels to warp in just after the imps?

step 1) send the coordinates to a dead letter address on the holonet, no fucking way are we going to send anything to the rebels directly, that is almost a stupid as a nuclear scientist sending a envelope marked official secrets directly to the Kremlin.
step 2) verbal tell the rebels the location of the dead letter drop.
step 3) start warming up the old bullshitmaster 5000 because we're a have some splainin' to do
