So now that we're making 1500cp the new standard budget, what other jumps can we improve with this innovative change?

More acceptable, but personally I'd prefer "you may import up to 32 companions, but unless you pay the 300 they are powered down for the jump. However, any you do not import are subject to the standard 8 active limit, and count towards the imported 32 limit" would work better. Allows swapping companions injump, allows use of things like symbiotes or ai assistants, saves hassle when your transport is also a companion.

>>

Is Demolition Man a comedy?
>>
>>48297088
I like it because I've never gone to worm and I'm actually probably powerful enough to completely scramble the entire setting, and maybe there'll actually be something worthwhile for me in that background.
>>
>>48297145
It's an Action-Comedy yes. It's that comedy that pokes fun at a genre for the first about half of the movie, then lovingly indulges in the things it was just poking fun at.
>>
>>48297145
It's an action move that came out in the 90's and functions like it was the last action move of the 80's.
>>
>>48297145
Technically no, effectively yes.
>>
>>48297096
Really?

Casting fireball isn't really on the same level as summoning and destroying matter and energy, bending and altering time and space, ect.
>>
>>48297182
Well, you do summon energy with that. So, that's one part there.
>>
>>48297217
No, you're transforming mana into the process of combustion. One form of energy into another.
>>
>>48296723
I remember an Anon has a brillaint combo that actually gave him the basics of Reality Warping. He picked up
Soft Physics (Worm, 'nother swig)
Scarlet Destiny (Touhou)
Any fucking mana amplifier, like Leaky Limiter (Mushoku Tensei)
Eightfold Path (Lord of Light)
Power Combination (Young Justice)

You combine Scarlet Destiny with Soft Physics and Eightfold to allow you to basically on touch fuck with things and turn them into shit they had a zero chance of turning into. This is because Scarlet increases probability, eightfold makes zero percent events into non-zero events and Soft Physics uses that shit to do some crazy shit. So long as you have mana, you can turn chairs into bombs of unprecedented power and pull peoples asses out of hats.
That Anon was pretty cool, hope he doesn't mind.
>>
>>48297182
I can't really think of a magic system that doesn't have some form of transfiguration. Many of them can alter time (though usually not in reverse), as well as space. Quite a few also ignore conservation of mass and energy.

Heck, you could replicate minor reality warping with non-verbal, wand-less Harry Potter magic.
>>
>>48297237
Depends on the magic system. Some don't use mana or other energy.
>>
>>48297237
Assuming it's a system that uses mana. Harry Potter magic doesn't, for instance.
>>
>>48297283
Those could be argued to just transform the energy from cosmic background radiation and ambient vibrations of particles, or the movement of the tectonic plates, or the power of the soul or whatever.
>>
>>48297329
Which if not stated or implied anywhere, lack much reason to assume as such.
>>
>>48297263
Harry Potter straight-up destroys conservation of mass and energy with things like permanent conjuration. Which, in Harry Potter, translates to creating real, permanent objects out of nothing. It basically allows you to create any nonmagical thing, including living things, by just pulling matter out of your ass with the power of MAGIC.
>>
>>48296749
Seashells
>>
>>48297329
And so could most examples of reality warping. But that would be stupid.
>>
>>48297354
It's less ridiculous than assuming it just breaks the laws of physics, which I refuse to accept.
>>
>>48297355
I didn't know it was permanent, actually, going off of conjured water which disappears (even outside of V-mort's cave).
>>
Quick question about Chakra from Naruto. How easy would it be to teach people all the different powers and techniques? And how powerful could they become without any of the special eye or tailed beast abilities, or any of the other special stuff that can't be taught?
>>
>>48297380
Then you don't accept reality warping exists as a concept in fiction?
>>
>>48297355
Conjuration does not create permanent objects, you can however transfigure something into something with more mass.
>>
>>48297355
>Harry Potter straight-up destroys conservation of mass and energy

>>
>>48297380
I hate to tell you this, but waving a wand around and chanting in Latin in order to transform energy from tectonic plates shifting into fire also breaks the laws of physics.
>>
>>48297428
Actually, permanent conjuration occurs in the books. It's different from regular conjuration which disappears after a short time.

I can't remember exactly where it happened but I remember Dumbledore doing it once and it was a big deal.
>>
>>48297490

Reality maintains, physics aren't broken, magic isn't reality warping.
>>
Rolled 104, 87 = 191 (2d595)

>>
>>48297490
In our world, yes. But in a world with magic, presumably the laws of physics are different. There's no reason to assume that physics are being defied when it makes much more sense to assume that magic is just interacting with a set of physical laws that normal processes don't. Modern electronics invoke all sorts of physics that don't happen in ordinary matter, that doesn't make them reality warping.

Exactly. There still have to be rules governing how your reality warping works. A world without rules is a world that has no underlying structure. Any warping of reality is therefore not a violation of physics but a revelation of a deeper, more complex level of it.
>>
>>48297607
I think his sticking point is that magic (even in the most free-form of systems) has rules and limitations, while true reality warping is just shit happening completely arbitrarily.

Caveat, I do not play Warframe.
Keep CP at 1,000. changing that only fucks up the value of taking drawbacks, making them worth less.

If what you can buy with 1,000 CP is sucky compared to what a competent high end war frame player could / should be, then you are changing to much for your perks and/or Identies.

If you have to pay CP for things that are ubiquitous to the game and genre, then you are charging CP for stuff that should be free.

In other words, don't be the guy that charges to be a wizard in Harry Potter.

Noether's Theorem. Any finite system is going to have conservation of energy, it's a mathematical certainty. The only way around it is to have a non-finite system or to have a world where the laws of mathematics are different. The first one is still sort of obeying conservation of energy, as you're not creating energy so much as drawing it from an infinite well, and the second one is too terrifying for me to contemplate as a legitimate possibility.
>>
>>48297699
No, he's saying that in his definition reality warping occurs inexplicably and cannot be bound by a set of rules by its very definition and that if it does follow any sort of guidelines at all then it's not truly warping reality but rather is just an extension of the natural laws of physics.

Basically he's bullshitting himself by falling into the fallacy of assuming that magic will somehow "make sense" in accordance with everything else simply by merit of following a structured hierarchy. He's arbitrarily assuming that it functions according to the laws of physics because it follows a set of rules. The issue with this is that he's making an inexplicable leap of logic without any evidence to connect the rules of magic to the laws of physics.

Let's say that magic can't create gold for some reason. In his perspective he's assuming that because it can't create gold then there must be some logical reason why it can't. But in reality it quite literally could be that it simply can't do it for no definable reason. It can't create gold because it can't create gold. It just can't. There's no reason why it can't. It's just impossible.

So reality warping isn't reality warping because you say it isn't? What do you suppose reality warping is? It is the manipulation of reality, an operation which functions outside of the purview of conventional explanation and can only be described as being outside of the laws of physics. It is an operation which is separated from the normal operation of reality, the physical world which is ascribed logical laws.

Magic, by its very definition, is reality warping by the merit of its function being impossible to explain conventionally.

How heretical would it be to choose the remake as the setting I go to?

While I think that magic can be as conventionally explained as quantum physics can, I don't disagree with you. In fact you pretty much restated my words in a far less snarky manner. If magic isn't reality warping because of having control over it, then reality warping isn't reality warping for the same reasons. AKA magic is reality warping because it is silly to say that reality warping isn't reality warping.

I don't think so, I think it just lets you buy them and use the other side's energy, whatever that means. There's supposedly an update coming, and I'd like to ask for more clarification on what Hybrid does from a practical standpoint.

>how high are the power levels
It strikes me as one of those shows where the powerlevels are whatever the plot needs them to be at the time. That said, most of the combat stuff seems like you'd be more than fine if you're fast enough to casually dodge a huge number of bullets and have some way to hurt beings that are unaffected by conventional weaponry. I would expect buying either the Demon or Angel origin would at least make you competitive.

That's fine, I only had 50 extra points to spend anyways. I'll grab my weapon a new neat ability instead.

At this point my main weapon is already a smorgasbord of different things. It's on its fifth iteration, and with each new version more and more is added to it. After GoW, it now has upwards of 12 different weapon modes.

RWBY weapon tech is a hell of a drug.

Anyway, this weapon is very unique in of itself, as it can now transform into a different weapon type! You want that sword to become a lance? No problem. That hammer to be a shield? No problem! The power of the gods is great indeed to allow this kind of variety for you. Now hang on a second everyone. If we're talking about reality warping and magic, we need to discuss the possibility that perhaps rather than tearing apart the old laws, or even bending them, perhaps they're instead enforcing an alternate set of laws.
For example, let's take a look at Final Fantasy 6. Here, magic is clearly unnatural, as it is tied to the three gods, and later on Kefka, who's death removes magic. With magic, otherwise impossible feats, like summoning magic, raising the dead, firing fuck you beams, suplexing a train(there had to be SOME kind of magic there, there's no way he just went and suplexed a train), that stuff. However, even that has rules, limits: how much magic one can contain, how much they can use, what they can use if for, where does it come from. In a similar way, an eldritch abomination may not be warping reality, but imposing his reality. Maybe he came from a time/place where there was no conservation of energy, or something.
This is all just theory and speculation though, of course. I might be WAY off.
>>
>>48298305

>Now hang on a second everyone. If we're talking about reality warping and magic, we need to discuss the possibility that perhaps rather than tearing apart the old laws, or even bending them, perhaps they're instead enforcing an alternate set of laws.
Pretty much how I treat reality warping in general. Reality Warpers are either beings from outside the Reality they're residing in (and thus have brought their own laws along with them), or they are beings who have surpassed the Reality they exist in, thus exerting greater control over their Reality than their Reality exerts over them.

From Muppet Treasure Island:

>A wickedly sharp and brilliantly crafted cutlass or smallsword. Seems to move quickly and deftly in your hand giving you the impression you could cut a man’s clothes off his body. A melee weapon you already own may be imported into this option giving it the form of either a cutlass or a smallsword whilst retaining any of its previous [sic]
>>
>>48298357
Nope. Magic isn't reality warping, no matter how hard you try to wank it, it will remain as it is; magic.

Magic compared to mundane means may seem like reality warping, but even the most powerful magic is internally consistent and defined as a system with mechanics.

There are no mechanics behind reality warping; reality warping is the mechanics, decides the mechanics, and destroys the mechanics.

Perks are not reality warping. Stop wanking yourself, you'll grow hair on your palms, and cause your brain to rot.

My free perk lets me find more scraps.

Bought a lot of the 200 CP perks as well, one helps me find minerals and treasure, one makes me a better pilot and the last undiscounted one makes me appear more charismatic and sympathetic.

Infinitely Customizable and Modular Designs are obviously written with one another in mind but I'm not entirely sure what they do. I mean it'd make sense if Nonetheless they seem to help with fitting together shit that shouldn't fit together so it can't hurt.

Also bought a 600 CP undiscounted perk that makes me really good at talking people into things.

Stasis tech seems to be a good thing to try to pick up while here. Other than that I don't have much of a plan beyond completing my objective which is to kill all the zombie squid moons. Took this objective more as an attempt to do some good in the omniverse and as I may have ended up on their wrong side anyway. Also I can potentially reduce the amount of time I have to spend here by blowing up zombie celestial bodies. Probably going to have to take over the Earth for its own good.

Not always.

>reality warping is the mechanics, decides the mechanics, and destroys the mechanics.

Like some examples of magic, then.

I don't think you realize just how broad "magic" is, friend.

The term encompasses an arbitrarily vast amount of systems that allow to if not "warp", then at least alter reality.
>>
>>48298511
So, uh, did you not read what I wrote? I agree, it's not reality warping, it's just imposing a different set of laws. I even used FF6 as an example, that while it's unnatural to the universe as is, it has it's own set of rules that it has to follow. For example, I can heal someone of their wounds, but I can't make them regrow an arm. I can fire magical fuck you beams, but I can't just snap my fingers and unmake a town, I have to actually fire my magical fuck you beams.
>>
>>48298420
Okay, then.

Can the handle of a weapon customized by this perk remain extended indefinitely?

>-Pole Dancer (100SP) (Melee Only): Well this is... something else. The handle of your weapon can now extend out. Not the dangerous part, the handle of the weapon. It can offer extended reach, sure... among other things. Cross chasms with less difficulty! Whack someone with a sudden extension! And best of all, it means you have a pole at any time for... exercise purposes. Yes, let's just go with that excuse.

Variable Weapon tech is fairly crazy. Here's a chaingun that collapses into a purse.
>>
>>48297821
Not exactly.

Noether's theorem isn't about "finiteness". Basaically, _for lagrangian systems_ the theorem associates a conserved quantity for every continuous symmetry.

So, first, an alternate world without time shift symmetry? Conservation of energy need not apply. (Energy, well, hamiltonian, being the conserved quantity associated with time shift)

Alternately, maybe energy is conserved, but in a way that doesn't look like conservation of energy. (Consider energy vs True Energy in Greg Egan's Orthogonal series. There is conservation of energy of sorts, but... you have to be careful how you're defining the energy of a system to get the conservation.
>>

I don't really know what that means so I'm going to answer the question I think you're asking.

You're not necessarily an elemental but you can be (in the way that Ice King is not made of ice but Flame Princess is made of fire). In order to grow much larger as an elemental you need to take Monstrous Form although you can simulate it either way by producing quantities of your element that are not a part of you.

Be bigger than the Lich probably. He's big but he's not that big. I mean if you take the Lich perk you're basically given the option of looking like the Lich anyway. In terms of power it's sort of difficult to say as we don't really see the Lich's upper limits (you're not necessarily on his level as we don't quite know what that level is).

I'd say you'd at least be capable of the shown feats the Lich produces. Probably more combat oriented and physical with Monstrous Form than he tends to be. Lich uses magic rather than fighting most of the time.

>>48298890
