Vulkan gives his life to destroy the Great Beast in the newest novel of the Beast Arise series, and non one in /tg/ gives a damn?

Black lives don't matter to /tg/ apparently.
>>
>>48270526
Vulkan's not black.
>>
>king jobber jobs like a champ
is this supposed to be news

I told you niggers he'd get killed back when they first spoiled the titles.

Why the fuck would people give a damn about a perpetually resurrecting immortal sacrificing one of his infinite lives? Is Vulkan giving up his life supposed to be meaningful? Because if so, then maybe he should stay fucking dead after he does it.
>>
But he's not dead. He just gets back due to..? Infinite lives
>>
>>48270711
He wasn't seen again in the 8000 years that followed.
>>
>>48270526
I thought there were only like, 3 Primarchs around post-heresy.

Stasis dude with Mongol and Viking going cruising in DE turf?

I may be forgetting the other stasis dude from the Dark Angels but I've honestly never cared that much for HH stuff.
>>
>>48270654
You sound like a Salamander

>Im going to sacrifice for humanity!
>Damn it primarch, this is the tenth time you do this!
>Dont mourn me my sons!
>We dont care!
>But I'll be dead!
>THEN STAY DEAD!
>>
>>48270755
He got killed really dead, it'll take him a while to get better
>>
>>48270921
>Dont mourn me my sons!

My master-crafted sides
>>
>>48270921
Actually, what happened to the Salamanders was quite touching.

Vulkan refused to rejoin or meet with his legion chapter before and during the battle because he said that it was going to distract them.

The Salamanders present in the battle fought to last. They wanted desperately to fight and die close him and for him to feel proud of them.
>>
>>48270628
That's not great writing. Isn't this one by Gav Thorpe? I've seen him do better.
>>
>>48270526
Wait, what?

Is Vulkan Lives the one from June and this new one for July?
>>
>>48271283
>daddy issues: the plot.
>>
>>48270526
'gives his life'.

Doesn't mean much when he just comes back like nothing happened.
>>
>>48271333
Gav Thorpe is a hack. I thought Last Chancers was terribly inconsistent with the existing lore and fluff around WH40k, and pretty badly written overall.
>>
>>48270771
They're all either dead (Ferrus Manus, Sanguinius), missing (Khan, Russ, Corax), or mortally wounded and in stasis (the Lion, Guilliman). Dorn is kind of all three - there's disagreement over whether his body was found and encased in amber, or whether it wasn't found except for his severed hand, which is kept in a stasis field (there's no disagreement over his hand, just the rest of his body).

Basically they all had to disappear a couple hundred years after the Heresy to pass the baton from immortal supermen (including the Emperor) to regular humans.

It seems that Hunt For Vulkan ebook isn't up on torrents yet. Anyone got a Mega?
>>
Anyone got a link to the epub of the The Beast Must Die?
>>
>>48271413
It only just came out in the UK.
>>
>>48271381
but he wrote the comfy spess elf story right?
>>
>>48271445

Yeah I know, but the guy above is posting screenshots from a digital copy of the book so someone's got it. Just wondered if anyone has uploaded it to mega or wherever.
>>
>>48271451
He's better with Eldar, I'd have to say. Or he's writing for a different audience. Different age group, maybe?
>>
>>48271469
Hunt for Vulkan, which came out last month, isn't even available for free except in eBook form.
>>
>>48271470
don't know. This entire series reeks of cash grab.
>>
>>48271477
Agreed. It just seems juvenile, both the plot and the writing style.
>>
>>48271474
Hunt for Vulkan has been up on mega for about 2 weeks now, I'd link it but mega seems to not be working for me right now so I can't tell which of half a dozen mega bookmarks it is.

Hunt for Vulkan is terrible though, I've loved every Beast Arises book up until that one. Literally it's just bolter porn, there's not a single chapter about the high lords politicking which is the main interesting part of the series.
>>
>>48271407

Here's the mega for Search for Vulkan.

>>48271505
Great to see a link, thanks!

I dunno, I got sick and tired of the High Lords. Every fucking book they keep doing nothing worthwhile. They even had Mesring praying to the Beast in Echoes of the Long War and Koorland is all
>I unno nothin' 'bout High Gothic
and nobody else calls him out on it. And Vangorich spends half his scenes angsting over whether he should off one of these incompetent motherfuckers. He finally effected regime change, but goddamn did it have to take six books? I stopped reviewing them because I knew I'd just end up repeating everything I said in the last review all over again.

But if it's all bolter porn by Annandale then I can see why it would be the weakest book. Thus far Annandale hasn't impressed me with his action scenes, they're probably the weakest parts of his Yarrick books/short stories. Even CS Goto was better; at least his action scenes were coherent even if they were nonsense.
>Multilasers on muh Rhino
>Multilasers in the desert
>Multilasers
>>
Seriously about two thirds of the book is just Space Marines firing their bolters at orks. And you're right, Annandale can't do action. I liked his previous book in the series, God-Emperor knows why he chose to write (or as tasked with writing) a solid book of bolter porn in the middle of an ongoing series.

LIterally the sole advancement in the book in regard to the whole series is that they look for Vulkan, they find him, the end.
>>
>>48270526
He died during the HH
Later "Vulkan"s are just Forgefathers taking his name
>>
>>48271691
That was actually Vulkan the Primarch, you mook.
>>
>>48271657
Actually, the Hunt For Vulkan is a nice follow up to "Promethean Sun". It's a big call back to that HH novel.
>>
>>48270977
Unless he was killed harder than that time he fell from orbit onto the surface of Macragge, I don't think he has much of an excuses. Also isn't he meant to be stuck in a coffin somewhere.
>>
I remember all the Orkfags wanking when the first book came out saying that the Beast was titan sized and whatever.

The Ork is just 10 meters tall. Huge but not titan huge.

Anyways, the Beast is certainly interesting. He gives us insight in how the Korks would have been like in the past.
>>
>>48270526
WE WUZ SPESS MARINES AND SHEIT
>>
>>48271805
>Anyways, the Beast is certainly interesting. He gives us insight in how the Korks would have been like in the past.
As someone who only knows about this series from/them/, how so?
>>
>>48271950
He is very Intelligent to the point of speaking fluent Gothic. He doesn't speak like the other Orks. Also he deserves to rule the galaxy rather than just crumbing it.

He has massive psychic waaagh! power. His very presence is causing the entire Ork race to evolve into a whole different race.
>>
So reading the battle, it sounds like maybe they're trying to convey Vulcan sacrificing his immortality to defeat The Beast's super-Waaagh!, but I'm not sure.

:The Setting
>>
>>48270654
>Why the fuck would people give a damn about a perpetually resurrecting immortal sacrificing one of his infinite lives?

Because he can die for good, it just takes magic rather than conventional weapons.
>>
>>48270614
>Targets the Ultramarine first

The Beast really is smart.
>>
>>48272680
So he's Da Emperork?
>>
>>48270628
>Chaos is the true threat again

Orks getting cucked even in their own series.
>>
Didn't Vulkan already lose his immortality? Some fucker named John got him good in the back, and now he's not immortal.

I don't know. It's just a Primarch going from "missing with no explanation" to "Last seen in a fatal situation with no escape". Nothing new, most of the Primarchs fit into one of the two. Except Lion El'Jonson, who is alive and well.

It kind of fucks the lore for Vulkan He'Stan, though.
>>
>>48273884
no the last books says he got it back or someshit

nice to see Vulkan didn't just fail in his attack at least

and I figure the rest of the books were going to be about the fallout of the war ending with the beheading

>>
>>48274315
Grand Master of the Assassins goes and kills the rest of the High Lords before being killed by a Space Marine. Then the Ultramarines show up with their friends and fix the Imperium.
>>
>>48273945
The Beast was basically an Ork Daemon whose psychic power was felt on a galactic level.
>>
>>48274360
Right, I see.
>>
>>48270526

But the Beast doesn't die until book 11. Vulkan just jobbed.
>>
>>48270526
A lot of the more level-headed and adult fans have moved away from 40k. The quality of the lore has degenerated to a point where it just isnt interesting enough anymore.
>>
>>48270526
Link please then we can talk about. With bran down most folks don't even have hunt for Vulkan yet.

I think BL's biggest problem is that since most books are put out for merchandizing or event reason, rather than being written because someone just really wanted to write a book, the writers take a real dive in quality quite often

He just went afk for like about 8k years. Once he's back from his snack-break he'll just res himself at the closest spirit healer or his body.
>>
>>48270526
I still don't like the fact Vulkan is a perpetual and now I gotta see him job to Black Libraries attempt to make orks anything but the galaxies mook race? Yeah I aint to happy.

Just burn it all down.
>>
>>48271784
>that time he fell from orbit onto the surface of Macragge
I think that's the moment you know you've overdone your character, when people can reference doing that kind of shit as 'that time when'
>>
>>48270526
>and non one in /tg/ gives a damn?
Anon, have you seen how much shit GW's put out in its books and how little any of it really matters? Hell even the HH is longer than most encyclopedias now and it's just a refluff of Satan rebelling against God. Any real authors could have done it in like 5 books maximum.

No one really cares any more. Everyone used to but they keep releasing more and more crap.
>>
>>48278020
But that's actually kind of the point with Primarchs, they ARE overdone
Remember that time Konrad fell from orbit and through the adamantium crust of his home world?
>>
>>48278100
No, what I meant is that when their death/superheated re-entry becomes a case of 'again' you've done it too much.

There's over the top and then there's overdone.
