It's a design decision, the same reason why demons are all male. The design team was full of rabid fans of Serra Angel that refused to make male angels and the decision's sort of stuck.
In flavor terms, I guess you could say that an angel is the embodiment of white mana and the principles of white mana are traditionally feminine while the principles of black mana are traditionally masculine and its embodiment is a demon.
At least, traditional according to Western society in the 90s, not according to hardcore religious dogma or anything. Otherwise everything would be strictly reversed.

Traditionally, red, blue and green have been the domain of elementals as their representatives rather than angels and demons.
Devils do seem to be the embodiment of red mana specifically of Innistrad though, which says a few dark things about the nature of red in that plane. There are no succubi but there are fallen and corrupted angels - not by demons but by Phyrexia, Orzhov and a number of other evil factions.

This article is about Devils. Remember, Innistrad is a tribal block, and they needed something to fill the void left by goblins not meeting flavor.
If Devils were an embodiment of a mana color, they would be on tons of other planes. Angels and Demons are totally different than Devils, because they exist practically everywhere. They simply ARE.

The reason for the change to +2 is because it takes 7 turns to pull off your ultimate. It shouldn't be more than 5 ever. The typical amount is 4 turns.
The -2 is worded oddly. It should read

I think the biggest problem with the card is that it's almost impossible to make a walker feel 5-color, especially with only three abilities. Because I mean, right now, she's basically...green? And sorta...nothing? It tells me very little about her character and it doesn't REALLY feel 5-color (though unfortunately I don't yet have a good idea how to MAKE it feel 5-color.)

Believe me, I know the feeling. Messenger can attest that her 5 colors is my least favorite thing about the character, because trying to work that into her flavor, mechanics, and story is hell.
Anywho, so disclaimer, I built this card in conjunction with Leon and DIOMEDES in the last 20-30 minutes before I went to bed last night. Let's see if my logic from that groggy state is still sound.
So, her original card followed this pattern; "Deck mechanics, spell casting (creature summoning for flavor'n shit), wincon." So I wanted the timeshifted version of her to follow a similar pattern, but a bit different. The previous Gaia card is all about building a board state and winning off of said board state. In flavor, this is meant to reflect the World Core's nature as a creator. Also, with that ulti winning off of the state of the board, I guess it's also supposed to give a "community wins" or "togetherness" vibe. So she is very much a card based around your board state.
In contrast, one of my conditions going into the World Conqueror was that it can operate independently of your board, since this Gaia never built a world and often operates alone. I also wanted it to be a more aggressive card, for equally obvious flavor reasons. Hence why the ulti, instead of reading "you win" it reads "target player loses", which is more offensive wording in my opinion. I also wanted it to be a wincon to be independent of the board for the same reasons. But the abilities are meant to operate in a similar pattern to the original card, just flavorfully a bit opposite. For example, instead of deck mechanics that play lands, it's deck mechanics that steal spells (or cheat your own into play). And instead of summoning a permanent to the battlefield with her middle ability, it's remove a permanent. And instead of "you win based on board state" it's "target player loses".

I saw Diomedes as a Greek Steven Rogers which seemed like an interesting enough concept, before the name had to be typed in all-caps, he kept on doing more and more ridiculous things with great encouragement from others and people started posting smut about him.
I saw Gaia as fantastic at her inception but the soul of the character and the point of the character was lost the moment she stopped being the comatose earth-mother figure of the plane she made and became just another walker that's 5color for reasons, that gets showered with mountains of smutty commentary because it's a popular female character. The funny thing is, the character's only popular because of the character concept that no longer applies to it whatsoever.
I've got no right to ask people to stop but I've got every right to state that I'm no longer interested in those characters for those reasons.

We've come to the problem of flakethreads being bloated without much content. There's too many flakes imo and the thread should have died a while back, but people really enjoy their characters and stories. The last snowstorm died for good reason, but this one hasn't. Really, I wish for a reset. Let this one die, and make a whole new blizzard of flakes. As for the "bringing in fresh anons" thing, I came in to these threads a couple weeks ago and had no idea who any of the characters in the OP chart were, but I've been able to participate and contribute perfectly well. While the quality and validity of some of my contributions are up for debate, the fact is that the existing characters aren't a solid barrier to entry.
