North America has become a forgotten wasteland after the asteroid hit. The rapid climate change has turned the newly born North America into one massive, radioactive jungle filled with ruins.
Some descendants of the original survivors still live there. They're cut off from the megacivilizations in the rest of the world, and they hear the stories of their ancestors, of the great nations that once stood there.

Urban sword & sandals setting. The city is the Urstaat, the protean empire of psychic god-kings expanding and claiming territory of a blasted and barren world. Scattered tribes of barbarians roam and fight and scrabble in the outworld against monsterous humanoid creatures that seek to enslave them. Eventually the players explore the megadungeon under the city to discover it is a crashed colony ship from earth, the empire is slowly trying to reclaim the descendents of smaller escape pods. The monsterous humanoids are the native alien civilization that was blasted back to the stoneage by the crash. Final battle is against the insane AI that has been plotting under the city, keeping the humans from sending a distress signal.

The Chivalrous are a new brotherhood of knights, donning themselves to historical armor and armaments to fight. Many others make their equipment from old weapon parts, as now they have become obsolete.
The new technologies have split the people between modern human resource machinariums and classical handcrafting. Some call it the end of the world, others a re-emergence of true independence.
Even some non-electrical appliances, such as cars, slowly become obsolete as the oil runs to close and maintenance becomes nigh impossible.

Witch adopts orphans, who are players, and brings them into the mansion. Or if you can call it that, architecture consists of parts that are from different times and styles, towers, rooms, halls, courtyards all plastered and build on top of each other. Different rooms containing where you can to shape iron, brew death and control spirits. Secret passages awaiting at every turn, awarding the bold and challenging the brave. Underground system of caves with monster lairs and servants to witch. And it doesn't stop there as mansion is a living ecosystem, always busy and full of life. Of course the witch is excited to train you to see what you will become. And only after shaping yourself, your weapons and your abilities will you leave this mansions. Not as weak children but as an inspiring adventurers.
