Mk III is just Mk II with more armor plating bolted on, including the helmet. If you look at all the helmets that don't have a giant visor bolted on it to split the visor into two eyes, you'll notice it's the standard Mk II cyclops visor, such as in the first two top left helms.

if you don't have anything yet I'd wait until the new book hits so you can see if breachers and assault marines are usable, but for iron warriors I think it'd be more fluffy with tacs and a warsmith. probably aim for around 1500 to start with, look at the ROWs you want to use and get stuff that fits. While each legion has a flanderized thing that they do well Iron warriors DID have assault troops and jump units, as well as fast recon elements so there isn't really anything in the list that is unfluffy.

I'd go with either umbra or phobos bolters, the tigrus bolts are .70cal as compared to .75 on the two, and has smaller magazines. More and stronger dakka somehow fits the IW more to me. Just sharing my advice, your dudes in the end.

I'd drop the pistol and the Warsmith upgrade. Archaeotech pistols are good in a vacuum but not worth 20 points and the Warsmith upgrades are too expensive and probably won't get any use, plus you lose your warlord trait. Maybe even consider a Delegatus to save further points but it's up to you.

Regarding the Warsmith bit, you're right, though I feel it's fluffy enough to keep. Plus, it lets me take the Servo-arm and Battlesmith rule which means I could keep him next to the Iron Grandpa and have him help him out whenever he needs it.

My personal take is that we'd have a better chance of guessing at the likely contents by looking at what upgrade kits FW haven't released to go with BaC. We can pretty happily rule out support squads of any kind, but most other units are a distinct possibility.
I'll be kind of sad if it's MKIII, as I play no legions that really used it by the time shit got serious, nor am I interested in said legions beyond maybe the Salamanders. All legions used just about all the armour marks, it would have been stupid for them not to. MkII was the go-to suit during the crusade and even the speediest of sneaky legions would have had a use for the heavily armoured MkIII in situations like boarding action and raiding bunkers. MkIV was common enough. MkV-VII were much more limited, since V would have probably been used the most by legions that had suffered losses, MkVI prototype by legions that had been testing it prior to the Heresy and during the Heresy mostly by loyalists with traitors getting the most of their suits when Mars fell and their MkVI production was put in the use of the traitors. MkVII only by legions on Terra, where it began production after Mars fell.
MkII and VII are the only suits I haven't used in my legion.
