Slaaneshis dont have a proper scheme, once they go into the extremes where they stop feeling anything that isnt as exciting as apocalyptic war on steroids while getting a blowjob from a demon that looks like your mother is when they also start changing their colors to shit that they can perceive not just 'black and pink', its just that 'black and pink' is a very contrasting color scheme and captures the idea. I figure that by the time of the Siege of Terra the EC will look like a fucking rainbow made of german landsknecht.

And let's not forget they were going to kill each other even before arriving to Ultramar. Lorgar managed to get a nice bonding time out of it because he's a charismatic diplomatic manlet, and indulged in Angron's nail-autism
>>
>>48172239
I thought Alpharius Omegon was the manlet?
>>
>>48172252
>1 less wound than Alpharius
They both were, but only because Alpharius was split into two guys, meaning he could have been Mortarion/Vulkan level of toughness, as his alohas are consistently huge, even for an astartes.
Also, Lorgar's brothers didn't really respect him as a warrior. But most of them were dickheads, so it's kinda iffy.

Hello, that IF noob that drops by now and then for questions. I have my list made and am assembling/painting, and am on my contemptor.

Does anyone know (or have a cool alternative) the high-gothic for "Even in death I still serve"?

I have looked up the latin for this, but I believe high-gothic isn't quite the same. I'd like something cool to write on the dreadnought's carapace.

Do you think this is too meme-y? It's a nod to the DoW series which is what got me into 40k/30k

>>
>>48172398

Alright, I have experimented with translating multiple english ways of saying it into latin. My main issue is that I just didn't know if latin was good for high-gothic.

If anyone else has a cooler more IF-fluffy label for a contemptor I am all auspex
>>
>>48172479
Could you be more specific about what you're looking for and how do you want it to read?
>>
>>48172492
Well the spirit of "my guys" is the last defenders of terra during the siege and just before the events on the vengeful spirit.

I'd like to encapsulate as much as I can, I have the base for the contemptor squashing a iron warrior underfoot.

I'm not sure if that helps, and I am not dis-satisfied with what I have as an idea. I just don't want to seem to spork-toting meme-y since I've discovered that many of the dreadnought lines from DoW are kind of ridiculed
>>
>Iron Havocs can take free autocannons.

Well, they are cliche lines after all, and almost ALL DoW dialogue is ridiculed, BRUVA, but that's not bad -- "Even in death I still serve" is a badass boast.
If you want something more fisty, maybe add on the end

Mk III is just Mk II with more armor plating bolted on, including the helmet. If you look at all the helmets that don't have a giant visor bolted on it to split the visor into two eyes, you'll notice it's the standard Mk II cyclops visor, such as in the first two top left helms.

The rest of them could technically be called Mk III.
>>
>>48169209

Those are awful.
>>
>>48172846
I suppose you're right. I'm still trying to decide which armor mark is my favorite, since BaC is probably going to be discontinued by the time I can get a job, so I'm thinking I'll just have Iron Warriors kitted out the way I want, and order in bulk once I've saved up quite a bit, probably use the heads in the upgrade pack for Sergeants and Non-Terminator Praetors.
>>
>>48172365
>"I let them fortify because it would have been to easy"
Am I the only one who finds this stupidly edgy?
>>
>>48173214
Oh, these might seem like obvious questions, but for a basic army what points should I start at and what choices should I get for a fluffy Iron Warriors list?

I know at least 1 HQ 2 Troops is the very basic of the army building part, but which should I get? Praetor and Tacs or Breachers? Make the Praetor into a Warsmith for extra fluffyness?

I don't care about being good, so long as it's fluffy amd I can do okay with it.

And does anyone know what the Iron Warriors upgrade set looks like on Mk. III armor? I think I've decided that it's my favorite of the armor sets.

if you don't have anything yet I'd wait until the new book hits so you can see if breachers and assault marines are usable, but for iron warriors I think it'd be more fluffy with tacs and a warsmith. probably aim for around 1500 to start with, look at the ROWs you want to use and get stuff that fits. While each legion has a flanderized thing that they do well Iron warriors DID have assault troops and jump units, as well as fast recon elements so there isn't really anything in the list that is unfluffy.

>an ultra splerg running to horus
No, pretty much everyone said "why"

>His conduct of the battle for Tesstra brought Alpharius censure from many quarters. Roboute Guilliman is recorded as having called it "a huge waste of time, effort and the Emperor's bolt shells". However, concerns about alleged atrocities committed by the Night Lords legion diverted attention away from the incident.
>Nevertheless, Alpharius was furious at the reaction to his Legions masterful performance. Only Horus openly praised the manner in which the Alpha Legion had overcome opposition that outnumbered them a hundred to one.

It's more that alpharius went crying to horus because no one else understood his supreme genius.

I'd go with either umbra or phobos bolters, the tigrus bolts are .70cal as compared to .75 on the two, and has smaller magazines. More and stronger dakka somehow fits the IW more to me. Just sharing my advice, your dudes in the end.
>>
>>48174275
Huh, didn't know that!

Though, I'm just going with the Tigrus bolters because I like how they look better.
>>
>>48174238
I'd say it's a great place to start, though I'm wondering why you're getting so many bolt pistols along with the bolters.
>>
>>48174289
I have a thing for wasting time on details.
If you like it better that way, go ahead.
>>
>>48174304
Well, I do have a bit of a thing for WYSIWYG on my own guys, as well as it making them look not so bare bones, I suppose.

>>48174309
No, it's fine! I love hearing details like that, lets me learn new things and such.
>>
>>48174124
this, they see a problem and unlike say peterabo who tries to answer the problem in medusa shells and dead iron warriors the alpha legion seeks to answer the question "how many of them can we get to betray eachother and them, and then - how many false flags can we get out of it."
>>
>>48174275
Huh, looking on Lexicanum, Phobos are .70 cal, and Tigrus are .60 cal. Nothing about ammo capacity, with the exception of the Umbra Ferrox's box magazine.
>>
>>48174238
Oh, seeing as I need £250+ worth of stuff to get free shipping, what should I get?
>>
>>48174441
Some Cataphractii for turning into Tyrants.
>>
>>48174441
I'm thinking maybe the Legion Contemptor and some weapons for it. Any ideas for a good loadout for the Iron Grandpa?

>>48174457
That's also a good idea, but I think I'll wait and see if they get any models of their own soon enough.
>>
>>48174485
Grab a contemptor then. Kheres and fist, Two Kheres, Fist and anything else.
>>
>>48174503
Alrght then!

Kheres sounds good, don't know whether to give him two Kheres or Kheres and a Fist. Are Chainfists any good?

Also, what is the Havoc Launcher? Is it the same thing as the Cyclone Launcher on FW's website? It looks cool.
>>
>>48174520
I'd go two Kheres for the dakka, but chainfists will fuck vehicles. IIRC the Havoc is alright.
>>
>>48174531
Hmm... That's a tough choice. The Chainfist also comes with an inbuilt Meltagun option on FW's website. Eh, rule of cool, Chainfist it is.
>>
>>48174536
I don't know, man, have you seen dual kheres? Most beautiful shit there is.
>>
What kind of weapons would you guys give to Reavers? I'm thinking power swords, but I have no idea what I'm doing with Sons of Horus.
>>
>>48174520
>>48174531
>>48174563
>>48174536
Just as a passing note, if you're running dual Kheres, you're better off running it as a Contemptor-Mortis vice a regular Contemptor. It's much cheaper points wise and it's the same model, plus you get the chance for Skyfire/Interceptor.
>>
>>48174611
But you can't get a DDP.
>>
>>48174611
Man, I'm so tired I forgot the mortis. Shit's great.
>>
>>48174563
It does look pretty cool, but the description of the Chainfist suits the IW more, I feel.

Oh, and using only what I bought here's a list I made real quick. Though, I'm afraid I don't have a Servo-arm for my Praetor. Oh well.

Iron Warriors Pride of the Legion.

HQ
-Legion Praetor, 100
+Archaeotech Pistol, 20
+Paragon Blade, 25
+Warsmith, free
+Servo-Arm/Battlesmith, 35
Total, 170

Elites
-Contemptor Dreadnought Talon, 175
+Kheres Assault Cannon, 15
+Chainfist w/ inbuilt meltagun, 25
Total, 215

Troops
-Veteran Tactical Squadx4, 125 (500)
-Sergeant Artificer Armourx4, 10 (40)
-Veteran Tactics, Sniperx4.
Total, 135 (540)

Total Points, 935

I think I got my math right. How is the list?
>>
>>48174536
Contemptor cortus dreads get a bunch of close combat boosting rules and can take dual fists. IIRC you can get 6 S10 AP2 attacks on the charge, add grav or Flamer fists to vehicle or Infantry munching.
>>
>>48174622
Drop pods are for getting dreads into charge range, why would you want to charge a shooty dread.
>>
>>48174627
I'd say so far so good, but there's a lack of 2+ here. You gon' add some terminators?
>>
>>48174627
While very fluffy you're putting too many points into your praetor, are you also running four squads of five vets? If so two of ten would serve you better.
>>
>>48174275
Tigrus is .60, Phobos .70. I gave all my dudes Godwyn bolters, because .75 caliber. Also terminators got storm bolters because I like the double-magazine look and the only two combi-bolters available for 30k terminators are based on the Tigrus and Phobos.
>>
>>48174627
get some special/heavy weapons on those marines

and rhinos. Iron boxes are quite handy, even if they're made of tissue paper.
>>
>>48174653
Probably later, this is just the stuff I'm buying right now. Not yet a complete list, just one I made out of what I will have.

>>48174659
Alright, I'll fix that. What would you have me change on my Praetor?

>>48174665
Ah, I was purposing keeping them with bolters, as I'll likely run them as Tacticals later on, once I've got more for my Iron Warriors.

So far it sounds like Transports and Terminators should be what I buy next, huh?
>>
>>48174693
>Alright, I'll fix that. What would you have me change on my Praetor?
I'd drop the pistol and the Warsmith upgrade. Archaeotech pistols are good in a vacuum but not worth 20 points and the Warsmith upgrades are too expensive and probably won't get any use, plus you lose your warlord trait. Maybe even consider a Delegatus to save further points but it's up to you.
>>
>>48174829
True enough, though I do like the pistol as it provides the +1 attack and has AP 3 for ignoring regular armor. That, and it's what the model comes with, and I like the look of it.

Regarding the Warsmith bit, you're right, though I feel it's fluffy enough to keep. Plus, it lets me take the Servo-arm and Battlesmith rule which means I could keep him next to the Iron Grandpa and have him help him out whenever he needs it.

Though you are right in that it is a little annoying regarding the warlord trait.
>>
>>48174859
Aye fair enough, your dudes after all and you're going for a fluffylist. You won't get the extra attack btw because the Paragon Blade is a specialist weapon.
>>
>>48174906
Oh, you're right. I forgot about that. Oh well.
>>
>>48174859
in smaller games, you want to trim the fat and bring more bodies
>>
>>48174939
Also true. I'm hoping for more rumours of the Mk.III box that will replace BaC, hopefully it's an IW vs IF box.
>>
>>48174913
If you can find points give him a power fist and a combi-weapon, he can still shoot and gets plus one attack and is a threat to multi wound models
>>
>>48174693
Praetor also needs an iron halo. At 1000 pts it's probably not a huge deal, I doubt there will be much AP2 on the board, but keep it mind for later
>>
>>48174611
but you can't take mortises in talons, if you're going to spam dreads its better to loose skyfire and gain more dreads.
>>
>>48174970
Phall would definitely work as a boardgame seeing as all of the actual marine combat is indoors, and so suitable for cardboard tiles. But I don't think any reliable rumourmonger has given any hint what might be in BaC 2: Plastic Boogaloo, only that its coming.
>>
>>48169209

>>
Anyone have a guide on Word Bearer uniform guides? I'm planning on painting them as portrayed in the Betrayal at Calth boxset. Just wish to make sure it's lore accurate.
>>
>>48175557
There's plenty of lore in the HH Book that deals with them, book 5 I think. Basic colour scheme is red with black pauldrons, after that you can do what you want. There were ~150,000 Word Bearers at the time of calth, plenty enough marines for some variety
>>
>>48174275
You can get Tigrus for cheap/free off people who got Calth but stuck on different guns, don't bother with the resin ones. Just ask around, bound to be someone with spares.

>>48174441
Quad mortars, loads of them.
Sicaran for armored dakka.
Scorpius for pie plate fuckery.
Medusa to ream heavy infantry.
A Typhon, because fuck everyone and their worthless lives.
>>
>>48175284
Yea, but that guy had one dread in his talon, so this isn't applicable in this case. For general dread spam though, you'd be correct

The rumored contents of said plastic HH box is from a completely unknown source.

What's the lowest point value that people play 30k at? Has anyone made up fan Legiones Astartes rules for the Wolves or Thousand Sons?
>>
>>48175957
Well, we've played Kill Teams with custom rules from Heralds of Ruin. Those were pretty fun games.

Wolves and Thousand Sons currently use the generic Legiones Astartes rules IIRC. They're the worst legions though, so nobody competent has any interest in them.
>>
>>48175957
>What's the lowest point value that people play 30k at?
Absolute lowest is 1500 however this doesn't allow much room for an interesting army. Most games are 2000 - 3000.

>Has anyone made up fan Legiones Astartes rules for the Wolves or Thousand Sons?
None that I know of, only a few more months to wait.

>>
>>48175955

Worse yet, that completely unknown source was first cited on BoLS, known purveyors of the purest high-grade bullshit. My personal take is that we'd have a better chance of guessing at the likely contents by looking at what upgrade kits FW haven't released to go with BaC. We can pretty happily rule out support squads of any kind, but most other units are a distinct possibility.
>>
I'll be kind of sad if it's MKIII, as I play no legions that really used it by the time shit got serious, nor am I interested in said legions beyond maybe the Salamanders. At current, I've got a nearly complete Alpha Legion army, 1000 points of Word Bearers, and am starting EC at some point soon. There are also plans for Sons of Horus because fuck it, I've got nothing better to do.

Repacked Calth MKIV.

Two new characters, Librarian in MKIV and a Champion in MKIV.

Take you damn gundam Craptemptors with anime swords and watch the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie.

Bet you don't even use Umbra with your beakies. Bitch.
>>
>>48176508
All legions used just about all the armour marks, it would have been stupid for them not to. MkII was the go-to suit during the crusade and even the speediest of sneaky legions would have had a use for the heavily armoured MkIII in situations like boarding action and raiding bunkers. MkIV was common enough. MkV-VII were much more limited, since V would have probably been used the most by legions that had suffered losses, MkVI prototype by legions that had been testing it prior to the Heresy and during the Heresy mostly by loyalists with traitors getting the most of their suits when Mars fell and their MkVI production was put in the use of the traitors. MkVII only by legions on Terra, where it began production after Mars fell.

MkII and VII are the only suits I haven't used in my legion.
>>
>>48176705
The Word Bearers had MKVI before Monarchia got scrapped.

Sup.

Psychic Leadership:
- Preators and Delegatus are ML1 psykers by default and can buy an additional 2 Mastery Levels at 30 points each.
- Librarians can be Compulsory HQs, have ML1 by default and can buy an additional 2 Mastery Levels at 25 points each.
- Characters can buy a single Mastery Level for 25 points.

Knowledge is Power:
- The Warlord must possess an equal or higher Mastery Level than other Characters in the same detachment. This prohibits you from having a non-psychic Warlord.
- The Warlord receives an additional benefit based on his chosen Cult:
* Pavoni: Once per game when reduced to 0 wound roll a d6. On a 3+ your Warlord stands up with 1 wound.
* Corvidae: Once per game after you have rolled for Reserve you can modify it by +1/-1.
* Pyrae: Once per game during either your shooting or assault phase you can increase one weapon's S value by 1.
* Raptora: Once per game reduce the charge distance of an enemy unit charging your Warlord or the unit he has joined by 3".
- Athanean: Once per game force all successful hits against your Warlord or the unit he has joined to be re-rolled.

Innate Potential:
- Characters who do not have a Mastery Level still add one Warp Charge to your total.
>>
>>48176692
Dual kit MkIII wouldn't be too hard. Throwing some bolter arms in there shouldn't be too hard. Though with the shields and special weapons it's probably likely that they'd come in 5 model sets.
>>
>>48176732
Legion Wargear: Heqa Staff
- Any psyker can replace a power or force weapon with a Heqa Staff.
- Same stats as a force staff, grants the wielder +1 for harnessing Warp Charges.

Legion Wargear: Tutelary Companion
- Upgrade for any Psyker, 5 points.
- When Perils is triggered you can choose to first make an additional, separate roll.
- If this roll is a 3+ you ignore the wound inflicted by Perils of the Warp.
- If this roll is failed, you suffer the Perils wound and in addition your opponent controls the power: it is counted as originating from the caster but is otherwise treated as if cast by the opponent for the purpose of valid targets. The Tutelary Companion is then lost for the remainder of the game.

The Flesh Change:
- If a model triggers Perils of the Warp, instead of rolling on the Perils table the caster suffers an automatic wound.
- If this wound kills the caster, replace the model with a Chaos Spawn controlled by your opponent. If the caster was part of a unit, that unit is locked into combat with the Chaos Spawn.
>>
>>48176745
Prosperine Cults:
- Thousand Sons psykers do not use the BRB disciplines, but instead draw from their own Cults. See below.

Legion Disciplines:
- Pavoni
P: Smite
1: Enfeeble
2: Life Leech
3: Endurance

- Corvidae
P: Prescience
1: Forewarning
2: Perfect Timing
3: Precognition

- Pyrae
P: Spontaneous Combustion
1: Fire Shield
2: Inferno
3: Molten Beam

- Raptora
P: Telekine Dome
1: Assail
2: Levitation
3: psychic Maelstrom

- Athanaean
P: Psychic Shriek
1: Dominate
2: Terrify
3: Mental Fortitude

Personally, I didn't pick and choose fluff, I picked style. I gave my SW some MkVI suits complete with MkV torsos like in pic related.

If I have to fluff them, I guess being prototype suits they could have had various little things different from the final product and MkIV/V style X-shaped chest cabling was one of them before settling on the Y-shaped MkVI cabling we know today.

There is absolutely nothing that says MkIII is the only suit for breachers, other than river counting morons who look at FW store and go "well, they don't sell any other kit, so it must be the only suit for them".
>>
>>48176888
phalanx warders use MKIV and are breacheresque. I only use MKIV as its the best power armor so for me there is no substitute, will probably have to buy some sanguinary guard jump packs for my raptors as well :^)

What? Which unit would that upgrade kit be for? Invictarus use axes and boarding shields and already have models. Locutarus use power swords but only with combat shields at most and more importantly, they need jump packs.

MkIII still had the best protection and was void hardened. MkIV was also very much dependent on availability of materials.

Ok, how the fuck do you convert this into a PDF? I've tried 3 programs, one of which turned out to just be a reader, even though it claimed to be a convert, one just didn't go anywhere and the third could only convert the first two pages. Tried some online converters and none can handle the size of the file.

>Also, have FW FAQ'd Tyrant Siege Termies to be Elites?
No, and they probably shouldn't. Moving havocs to elites makes more sense with their BS 5, would prevent you from spamming a powerful unit, and would allow you to effectively double up on heavy support squads.
