Sorry it took so long. I had to do some serious chores involving fruitcake lovingly blessed by Nurgle himself left on our front lawn. And various other work doing surprise call ins.
To further note. Incorporating the cut lore wasn't all that hard. And one of the main reasons I wanted to include it was to fill in some gaps the games wouldn't be able to explain. And indeed the remnants of said ideas are still left in the games however minute they may be. Also the lore cut merely fleshes out the main plot and explains magic, its themes, and game mechanics already present in the story better. It doesn't so much change as clarify. As certain aspects of the jump are based off of accepted fanon (mainly convexity and spirit gems) admittedly. NOW this jump is more accurate with recent insight from interviews with the writers and concept artists.
I keep forgetting how much an unfinished mess the Legend of Spyro is.
Also because of this news I might make a Skylanders jump all considering.I don't own any of the games so that'll make the jump rather difficult to put together. But I might be able to pull it off with sufficient research.

Canonically, they are so light that it doesn't feel like it's there and because of that and the intense cutting power, all the usual sword-fighting techniques and stances had to be thrown out and redone.
Force Users were the only ones who take advantage of the new weapons. Though theoretically, an advanced enough combat droid could be built out lightsaber-resistant materials and programmed to utilise a lightsaber and the fighting styles that were built around it.

The main pro/con of blasters vs missiles is that blasters don't run out of ammo, are harder to dodge and can't be shot down, while missiles pack a bigger punch if they do hit (unless, as you note, the energy weapon in question is something like a capital turbolaser battery, which will ruin almost anyone's day).

Plus half the reason why lightsabers are good is because of Jedi precog and reflexes let them predict where blaster bolts are going so they can just block them instead of getting hit. For a non-Jedi, this isn't the case, they can easily be taken out at range.
