But it IS Machina! Kind of unfinished right now but here's what I got so far

Machina, The Mechanical Emperor (Because I think he's way more useful all game than Machina 2.0)

4x March of the Machine Lord
2x Remote Control Golem
4x Clockwork Soldiers
4x Small Assistant, Mariabella
3x Dummy Doll (Dwimmy Doll? God I can't read this font)
2x Remote Control Beast
4x Marybell, Insane Self Aware Machine
4x Engineer of Legnius
3x Clockwork Scout Plane

4x Legnius, the Mechanical City
1x Marybell, the Steel Doll (I am honestly unsure how many of this one to be in the final decklist)
4x Maribella's Work
1x Magic Screw

10x Water Magic Stone (Because honestly the deck doesn't need more cycle, between Machina's Search, Mariabella and Mariabella's Work, the deck is consistent enough and Basic Stones Only helps it out significantly against Non-basic hate)

I'm thinking of replacing the Screw with another Regalia Marybell (I just need to get one), and debating turning the Remote Control Golems into more Remote Control Beasts. Other than that, I think the deck is how I like it.

I play Kaguya with fast flip, turn 2 noble to slow down his dorks, turn 3 flip and ready to cancel his flip, Wall of Wind or Seal of Wind and Light at the ready to stop March shenanigans or final forfeit on noble. Interdimensional Escape to keep the board under control, wipe his 1 cost guys and slow his draw from Mariabella's work down.

I sideboard unseen pressure for if I suspect he is sideboarding artificial moon.

Still a tough matchup.

I don't understand the Rewriting Laws. It just seems like it's there to thin the deck but not by anything. I'd replace it with Blessing of Yggdrasil for more ramp, if anything.
>>
>>48146490
usually ive been running 2x robox, and 2x tick tock since they combo well with flipped machina, rewriting just something ive been testing
>>
>>48146490
I'd imagine Rewrite is usually there to do just that: thin the deck. At 2 cost and refreshing 2 stones with a draw, unless your opponent decides to cancel the spell it's a free deck thinner in the event where you want to get to the power cards faster and don't want to risk having a non-optimal draw.

I've thought about using it in a few decks that don't have much tutoring/draw options that run on a pretty low card count core.

>>

Well you got stones like Moonbreeze's Memoria, Black Moon's Memoria, Magic Stone of Moon Shade/Light.
Moonbreeze Fairy is the moon dork
The Apollo Regalia can if you're using it for an awakening ability, and the Demonic Globe can if you're using it for an activated ability.

Reflect/Refrain G/R beasts is my main deck.
While the 1400/1400 body on Yggdor is impressive, R/R provides just so much fucking utility. I cannot tell you how many times that filter ability drew me exactly what I needed like a sprint of the beast queen or pump spell. Uncovering a target resonator at the end can also be extremely relevant allowing for a "free" attack and the pump works at instant speed as well.

4x Alice
4x Spirit of Yggdrasil
4x Elvish Mystic

R/R sees a lot of overseas representation in tourney top 8s too. There are the occasional tournament where people will point and say "hey look, <50% R/R rep in the top 8" but those are few enough that they are far from being dethroned. Just looking at the A4 cards, R/R is still getting a lot of love thanks to their diverse ability pool meshing well with new stuff. R/R's rivals are hurt more by black moonbeam than R/R is. The exception is ygg, but we'll see how ygg pans out as more A4 tourneys happen and people better understand the new matchup.

My interest in the game is dying.
It's a fun game, but I really don't care for anyone in the shop. Most of them are yugioh player levels of cringe and annoyance.
Meta decks completely stomp everything else, which is to be expected because it's a TCG. But unfortunately for me it makes it hard to run anything that isn't T1 because they're so cheap to build.
It's fast, which can be good but a lot of times it feels way too fast. Even the control decks normally get their boss monsters and win cons out by turn 4-ish

Yeah that's just part of playing a TCG unfortunately. Shame the folks at your scene are ruining things for you. As for the general speed of the game, supposedly things are going to slow down in the new cluster, but they've been saying that for a while so who knows.

Try apostles blazer. Necrolance is the old bandwagon and green machines is becoming the new bandwagon. If your LGS tries to keep things very competitive, you'll see plenty of both to understand the two decks without having to actually play them and instead better understand the matchups.

>So do most of you play at an LGS

A friend and I do, but there's barely a scene here due to the shop kind of screwing over anything that isn't MTG, 40k, or D&D. Basically, there's no good day to run a tournament nor is there a slot to do so because of the sheer amount of events they run for MTG alone. At the moment, there's only one day in the week where MTG isn't having an event being held there. So it's been a bit hard to play in a tournament, except when they try to run it at the same time as Modern is being played. Which, by the way, is a terrible idea since it's been about 7 times so far since February that we've had to cancel it due to how many show up for MTG Modern.

It's all done on purpose as well, there's no other reason to try and run it on that day when the shop is full up on players from Magic, so of course there's no room for anything else that night.

The best I can think of is graveyard him into shadow doppelganger shenanigans, but it's still slow and clunky, weak to all forms of graveyard control and destroy effects, ALL to get your ruler out in a reasonable timeframe.

She's going to need some help from the unrevealed cards to be usable even amongst the Vingolf rulers. Still better then red though!

I assume this is Attoractia. Melgis' deck basically builds itself. Lancelot and strong 3 drop fire resonators. Then some Guinevere and rukh eggs. Laevaetinn x 4. The less 2-3 drop resonators you run the weaker his flip becomes. Tap Laevaetinn and crash him into an enemy to flip back every turn and keep activating to flood the field.

Pretty sure all boxes are guaranteed a full art ruler, at least from A2 forward I am nearly certain of this. If there are exceptions, they are far and few.

The chances are cited at 1 in 6 boxes to pull a god pack OR an uber from A2 forward. So not getting an uber in 3 boxes is hardly against the odds.

Well it's one of those situations where the game would only get a larger localization team if there is a sizable local player-base for it. So while it is kind of annoying seeing all the errors, I suppose we have to put up with it and hope it maintains a decent enough following for them to dedicate more resources for the localization.

If that were to happen they may do reprints or something to fix the errors.

The scary thing about machines is that it is one of the few deck types that doesn't tend to run ruler's memoria and a good base of regalia, so when dual stones are legal again the deck variety is just going to get nasty. You can literally run blue or green as the base for your dual stones and then dip into whatever color you want for support cards. Flame trap, space time anomaly, black moonbeam, etc.

I have a tough time telling if Arthur is really good or really not worth it. Feels like every time I can get him out on the field, my opponent will generally be at the point they can deal with him. I mean, if I'm controlling the field, then I generally don't even need to use him ever. And the few times I can get him out he always feels pointless with how much I have to protect him from non darkness/fire things.

Buying singles and having a general idea of what to build is incredibly cheap compared to other TCG. You would more than likely be able to do that with playing against others, it just depends on what you want to build.

Here's a good site for singles:

Is there a site for good "pauper's" or cheap decks so I can get an idea of how to build? I'm brand new to the game, and my local card shop has alot of singles, but this site looks amazing.

Honestly man, you're best bet is to find one of the Alice Cluster starter decks and play with that one for a bit. I'd get pretty familiar with the way things work before trying to buy singles, and really try and ask at your shop if there's events/people that come to play often and ask them for advice.

It's really when you get an idea for a deck that you should start using a site to order singles. But like I said, you really need to get used to things first before moving on to building custom decks.

The official starter decks are $15, and some of them aren't too bad at all. And also, you can try and ask some FoW players in your local scene if you could maybe try a game/ ask the shop itself if they still have the "Learning Decks" that some were given and such.

Machina is very easy to build and extremely good with the newest set. You could buy the starter and probably find the singles you need really easily to fill him out.

But the starters or the teaching decks are probably the best intro you can get. If none of the current starters tickle your fancy, there's also another set coming out in September/October, as well as the Valkyria Chronicles Vingolf box coming in August. But the Vingolf looks pretty trash so far, so maybe not that.

Yes, but what I'm saying is what the company said themselves what the purpose of Vingolf is. Well, asides the blatant cross-over business and such. Still, this set will have it's use in letting Dual Stones be used once the rotation happens soon enough, and we still don't have a full list of what all is in it.

It's really hard to say. I've been using my highly impractical Blazer Knights of the Round Table deck and I've done decently well with it so far. I don't follow the Meta too closely since I generally just build decks that I find fun/like a theme behind them and such. Overall though, Machina decks are going to be pretty damn dangerous from now on, so trying to run one/make one might be something fun to try and do at the moment.

I'm just waiting on the Online client to be a thing at some point soon. At least it'll be nice to be able to try my decks out with various other ones from around world and such.

Nobody knows what the meta is at the moment. R/R and Machina 1.0 are still generating most the buzz, and the recent Italian tourney backed that up, but since we're only 10 days into a new set it's hard to say. Take the time to experiment around, it's better to do so before tournament results really start filtering in and people just build around the top tier decks.
>>
Saw how awesome the art was in this game and picked up 2x starter decks and a booster box of BFA. I got about 4-5 of each magic stone from the box so I was planning on buying another box just so I could get 10 of each, but I'm wondering what set I should buy the second box from. I'm not concerned with making a top tier deck, I just want to have a nice base of cards that I can make a variety of decks from and have some fun with. Any advice?

How do you guys come up with deck concepts? I've got various rulers and several packs of cards. I'm not looking to win tournaments or do well at my (non existing) LGS, just casual since that my only real option.

How do I take garbage and make it stink less?
>>
OK, opened the box, and now altogether I have 6 rulers. Valentina, the Princess of Love; Arla, the Winged Lord; Rezzard, the Dark Necromancer; Machina, Clever Researcher; Reflect, Child of Potential; and Sylvia Gill Palarilias.

It looks like Rezzard and Machina would really require 4-of their magic stone which I don't have.

Reflect/Refrain looks like a pretty good control Ruler that would work in any colors, but I'm leaning toward making a red/green deck with Sylvia (partly because I got a full art version of her).
>>
>>48214936

Sylvia is a very good start, just be careful. Once you flip her to the j-ruler side you lose access to green without the proper stones.

I love Arthurian legends, so I built my entire deck just using the Knights of the Round Table. That's it. There's some chants/instants/so on, but the deck solely focuses on them, and it honestly doesn't do too bad at all.

Here's the first draft of my Sylvia deck:

1x First Flight's Memoria
2x Wind Magic Stone
7x Fire Magic Stone

4x Beast Queen's Guardian
3x Fruit of Yggdrasil
4x Bloodfire Dragon
4x Whelp Drake
3x Flame Dragon Commandant
4x Sylvia's Clanmate
4x Flamewing Wyvern
4x Caldera-Born Dragon
2x Sylvia's Roar
3x Home of the Wingmen
3x The Beast Queen's Counterattack
2x Beat of the Phoenix Wings

Basically, dragons with some card draw and a little bit of removal.

Everyone and everything on Attoractia was destroyed when Lapis crushed the planet down into a Regalia.

Alice, Kaguya, and Charlotte were the only good guys to escape. Lapis, Alisaris, and Valentina(now using Pricia's body that she's taken over) escaped on the bad guy side. Everyone else is gone.

>>48218165

>>
>>48218165
Charlotte is Faria's sister. Her introduction definitely could've been handled better, she kind just came out of nowhere.

Shion took over Valentina's position as monarch of Shangri-la after she and Pricia "killed" her. But the whole planet was destroyed shortly after, so she died along with everyone else.
>>
>>48218494
Technically, isn't everyone inside the globe though? Has it been destroyed?
>>
>>48218574
I mean I guess it isn't said anywhere that they're "dead". They might still be in the globe, yes. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the future clusters has somebody taking the globe from Lapis and freeing everyone from Attoractia.

But unless that happens, the world and everyone in it is more or less gone.

New Melgis is very one dimensional. you just stuff a deck with the usual fire core and then a bunch of 3 cost resonators such as Urthr, Athena, Pricia, etc. You can run some spells but each non-resonator in the deck or non-optimal resonator weakens his flip, which is the only thing he has going for him. From there, 4x demon sword and suicide him with imperishable into your enemy. Deathscythe and burn to cinders are not your friend.

Overall the 5 kings 2.0 are a massive disappointment. Very flawed in design.

I just hope they either ban R/R or Jordan follows through on his speculation that people will want to play lapis rulers over R/R. Problem is, he seemed to think black moonbeam was a great answer to R/R when in reality R/R has better answers for it than any other non-immune ruler, so it actually benefits because most of the matchups that can beat R/R that aren't a mirror match despise moonbeam.
>>
>>48224762

That's really all we can do. If they don't end up being better, then all we can do is shitfling towards Jordan since he's been talking up those Lapis Rulers for almost two months now for how well they'll do against R/R, and how most will play them. Honestly? I think he's just blowing hot air with all this. I don't see this meta changing anytime soon, and I just wish that regional events would do something about it. When the majority of your top 16 are all using the same ruler, and yes their decks do have some variation, but all the play of them are all the same damn thing with the dependency on R/R.

I'm just so sick and tire of hearing the "Well, you can play them too!" I'd really rather play a deck I find fun to play, even if it's not nearly as strong as that.

Invest in something cheap like a starter if you haven't already and try to gather some interest at the LGS that is struggling.

Valkyria Chronicles set will interest some people who otherwise wouldn't have bothered, and Lapis launch should renew some interest. Big problem right now with FoW local events is that Eldritch Moon is coming out soon, and not many people can bankroll two TCGs, especially if one is MtG.

I don't see why VC set would interest people (when the VC1 3D art is so bad and VC2 art is the shitty character spreads, they could've just ripped the 2D art from VC3 for VC1 and 2 based on the characters so far presented instead) outside of dual stones and non-creature spells. I think the new starters, coming with the die, and along with the new sets will do more to drive interest. I understand that, but they had VC3 resources available for their VC1+2 cards. They had a route that costed them the same amount of money+effort, and they went down an uglier route for NO REASON.

Again, no excuse.

That's up to whoever is doing the cards, man. Yeah, they look bad, but there's not much you can do about their aesthetics for this.

Also their choice of characters. With all the squad members available, they have to choose the pregnant lady to be made as a card.

I am guessing they need some way to pad out WHITE due to the size of Edy Detchment vs Squad 7 itself.

Yeah, I've already grabbed a couple of starters and have my tournament deck set up as a tcgplayer tournament is happening roughly 200 miles from home, but as >>48229511 and yourself said, most people aren't willing to consider another game with MTG in the mix.
>>
>>48230852
This is honestly why I've been vary of investing much into this game, there's no one to play with.

There's a scene for it in my area, but the problem is that MTG has over twenty years of fans along with it and people have a hard time trying anything new. And it just makes too much money for a shop to try and clear enough space to run an event for it.

It's growing, albeit slowly.

Why are the new rulers so shit? Lapis rulers better live up to the hype.

You know they won't. All they're doing, and by they I mean Jordan, is just building hype for it. With Grimm finally rotating out at all levels for current play, they just want to drum up some hype and hope for things to move on from R/R connection railroading across all the top 8s.

Why do i never see apollo in valentina 2.0 decks? Is flying just not worth it?

On another note is valentina 2 even still viable?

Black Moonbeam being a thing probably makes people too scared to run her.
